Bekka was great at the bar then it went downhill from there. I was served a skillet meant for someone else. Although it was the same skillet he ended up waiting longer but he ordered first. While the food was good & the service was adequate, their handicapped accessibility left something to be desired. As a family of 5 it should be no problem seating us with a wheelchair. After they whispered back & forth that asked if we could stick the wheelchair at the end of the table; sticking out into the walkway. I asked if they didn't have handicapped seating & they said only for parties of 4 or less. This is less than handicapped accessible; it's doing the bare minimum to call themselves accessible. Awful experience! I was staying across the street at the Residence Inn and noticed Applebee's. We placed a to go order over the phone. We were told that the 2 entrees and appetizer would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 15-18 minutes later. After standing between the to go area and the bar for 12+ minutes a server asked me if I needed anything. I told him that I had a to go order waiting. He handed me the credit card machine and walked to the kitchen. I paid the bill, adding a 20% tip. The server returned with only the spinach dip. I explained that I also ordered 2 entretrees. He returned to the kitchen. When he returned, I was told he couldn't find my order, but they were working on it... I waited 10+ more minutes and wasn't having a great feeling about this place. I asked to speak to the manager. He didn't come. I asked for a refund from the server. He said he would speak to the manager. While the server was gone, I asked another server if I could speak to the manager. My server finally returned and told me he was refunding my money. He gave me the receipt. The manager finally showed...lol I told him that I received a refund and no longer needed to speak to him. He offered 0 apologies and 0 reasons for this complete waist of time! To start our night, the hostess (Serena) went to sit us in the bar at hightop tables. I asked if we could be seated at a low table and pointed to the 5 to 6 that were empty. She says "no..." I stopped her there and said "if we can't be seated at a comfortable table we can go to another restaurant." We surprised this staff at 3:30pm on a Sat with a group of 15. It was a group of family all from out of town/state to support a national high school sporting event. Our appetizers were brought out separately, i asked for ranch and it never came. It's ok, I'll just take the drink, no she again said, customers have walked away with them so now we can serve them because we don't have the carafe lol... Makes NO SENSE!! So we ordered other drinks, waited over 20 minutes while seeing our drinks sitting on the bar waiting for the server to pick them up!! The manager happened to walk by sees the drinks and brings them over. I said "thank you" I was ready to get up and get the drinks myself, she said oh ok, and asked to take our order. We gave her the order and I asked if I could get some ranch dressing for the broccoli it came with that they had nothing to exchange it for, she said "sure for 15 cents" I was like really lol...I said that's fine. Well, 45 minutes later we got our food that was tasteless with the broccoli that had no color to it, that I didn't eat anyway lol...Bottom line, dirty nasty restaurant, with employees that forget about their customers, with terrible tasting food!! So what can I say ... I will start with the positive: they were open on thanksgiving. With that being said why didn't they plan on being busy. You are the only restaurant in the area that is open! I went to Applebees with my Fiancé this last weekend and I thought it was awesome. The waitress (Brianna) was wonderful. She made recommendations on drinks and food items. The place wasn't too crowded but plenty busy. I thought the entire staff did a wonderful job. Brianna made sure to keep and eye on us to give prompt service. The food was delicious. I had a double burger and my fiancé got the honey pepper chicken strips. I thought both meals were very good. Plenty of TVs with multiple sports on. They went wrong. The workers had obviously been trained to upsell customers on the margs--two of them said verbatim "You should get the $3.50 one because it has more tequila," but I wanted to try the $1 because that was the special. My date bought the larger one for $3.50. Neither of them had any tequila in them whatsoever. They were literally straight margarita mix and were so sweet I would have vomited if it wasn't for buying a $5 tequila shot and pouring that in the drink myself. The Topeka Applebee's employees need to have a idea what is on there menu. We got the new orange chicken last night. We received it with no rice on it and we asked a lady that gave the food to us. She told us she does not look at the menus and went and asked someone. They came back to us and told us it doesn't come with rice. Which I told her then you need to change the picture on the menu then. Later I relooked at the menu paper and sure enough it does come with rice. Definitely the worst Applebee's I've ever been to. The hostess who seated us was super nice, but our waitress had a horrible attitude from the second she came to our table. Other people seemed to have nice servers, but ours was so rude. My mom would try to ask her how her day was going and have a nice conversation, but the server would respond by rolling her eyes and barely acknowledging my mom.
