Sat at the bar, the bartender had no personality, none. My dinner was so spicy I couldn't eat it. They did ask if I wanted something else but I didn't want to wait, the spinach dip we ordered and chips were good so I ate that. The store manager came over and wanted to know what the problem was, so I simply sad I didn't request to complain further, I just committed on how spicy the meal was. I'm a bit disappointed with this Applebee's. The staff was very unprofessional. I saw one waiter take some food from a plate and pop it in his mouth, as he was walking away from clearing a table. The service was also very slow. The waitress I had was managing 6 tables. It took 20 minutes just to get my drink - frozen mango lemonade. We decided to order appetizers, thinking it would be faster. It wasn't. It took 25 minutes to get our two appetizers. Overall, I was disappointed and I honestly don't think I'd be willing to try this location again. read more

Our waiter Billy made it a five star showing, seriously! My girlfriend from Paris and I stopped in a week or two ago, and we had the patio all to ourselves. While on vacation in the Venice area we used Uber Eats for delivery of food from here. Our experience was AWFUL to say the least. Food was cold when it arrived, it took well past the estimated delivery time and the order was wrong. We ordered 2 exact same meals and were charged 2 different prices, one was $13 & change, the second order they charged over $18. Obviously Uber Eats isn't to blame for the awful meals, but their delivery service leaves a lot to be desired. Will NEVER order delivery from this place again and I might reluctantly use Uber Eats again but only if I have no other option. BEWARE of this Applebee's location! read more

I would give 0 stars. Started out by ordering a frozen strawberry margarita, took 20 minutes for the waitress to notice I never got my drink. Then she blamed the bartender. Finally got my STRAWBERRY margarita and it was white ? Too much ice I'm guessing and no strawberry mix. Ordered the Parmesan sirloin and it was still RAW in the center stringy nasty cut of meat. They couldn't even stir the mashed potatoes it was still in the shape of the mold they microwaved it in. Waited for the server to come check on us so I could send it back. She never came so we got up and left. I never do this l, I'm a server myself, but the whole meal down to the drink and poor service was horrible. This is one of the two Applebee's I've been to in the sarasota county area- definitely the better- the food was overall good (fries included) and the server we had was an older man, so sweet and constantly checking up on us to make sure we didn't need anything, we were sort of in a hurry so I felt bad asking for the check early but I got the lava cake and it was delicious read more

Awful, do not waste your time and money, I had a Oriental Chicken Salad with fried chicken or more like 1 and a half chicken strips, absolutely the worse meal I've eaten thus far. Terrible service. Arrived around 1 pm with two friends. No hostess was present to seat us. After waiting the bartender finally got her. Although there were empty tables she seemed confused where to sit us. Finally after being seated we waited over 15 minutes with no waitress appearing or anyone acknowledging us. We asked some customers where our waitress might be and they told us they were waiting over 45 minutes just for their salads to arrive. We finally left and on the way out I mentioned to the hostess that the service was terrible and got no response or apology. We went next door to Chili's and received excellent service. Told my neighbor about this and he said he had a similar experience. Too many other places to go in Venice where service is good. read more

We went on Tuesday which happened to be there kids eat free day. Food was tasty and hot! For a family of five it's cheap and great food. The last three times my take out order was wrong. The cook doesn't know what medium means. After an initial drink never saw another person until she served my food, them not again until it was for my check. Management must have changed. I never had this many problems. read more

Went here one night after going to Outback and Chili's (the waits there were about an hour). So my boyfriend and I decided we would try Applebees, even though its definitely not one of our favorites. When I walked in there were a bunch of people standing around near the front. I assume they were waiting for tables, for one they need more seating for people who cant get a table right away. Anyway as I walked through the crowd, I finally reached the hostess, who was wearing grey sweatpants and a white tee shirt. I thought hostesses had a dresscode? Guess thats not one of their priorities. The Hostess began with "is it just you?" I said "no 2 people please." She then asked if I wanted a booth or table top, I said booth please. She rolled her eyes and said "if thats what you want." I handed the buzzer back to her and said never mind, we'll go to Chili's. Went to Chili's and had awesome service and they accommodated our needs, without the attitude. I even tipped the hostess at Chili's for being nice. Applebees you need dress code for your hostesses, and control their attitudes. read more

Very unprofessional place! We sat at the bar, ordered our cocktails and asked for menus. Without once smiling she poured our drinks and walked away from the bar without giving us menus. After finally placing a to go order, we sat and watched as the employees gathered at the side of the bar to complain about work, make plans to go out drinking, and gossip about each other. It was pretty hard to believe it was happening right in front of customers! We even sat with empty drinks for longer than was acceptable while watching our bartender with the group of employees complaining about the manager and her shifts, instead of doing her job! We stopped for dinner from a long trip so it was about 8:00 pm. I ordered the chicken and shrimp with red potatoes. The meal was horrible, it was burnt. I complained to waitress and she asked if I wanted to have the same meal but on a plate, not sizzling. I was hungry so I ate what I could which wasn't much. Another couple came in next to us and ordered the same meals and that also was so burnt. The same waitress took theirs back. All the waitress did for such a horrible meal was take $1.60 off my meal.. the place wasn't even crowded so I don't know what goes on in the kitchen. read more

Excellent. Went for free Veterans Day meal and they were packed as they offer an entire meal for free rather than just an unhealthy app at so many other places!! Was going to be dining alone, so asked if I could just get my meal to go which the manager obliged. My steak was perfectly cooked (rare of med rare) to order even after the ride home and was terrific! Thank you for the free meal and the take out!! It's nice to be appreciated at least one day a year!! Thanks to your retired vet cook who volunteered today as well!! read more

Possibly the worst Applebee's restaurant in the area. My wife and I went to dinner with some friends tonight, and after much deliberation settled on this place. The last Applebee's I went to was in North Port about 3 weeks ago and tonight was a complete 180 from that experience. The waitress took our drink order and walked away, even though we were ready to order, what made it worse was that fact it took 10 minutes to bring our 4 waters. My friends order the 2 for $20 and my wife and I ordered the pretzel and cheese app and a grilled shrimp salad. The appetizer my friends received was about a quarter of the size of the one we got at the other location. My wife's $12 salad looked like a side salad I have received at other restaurants. We were seated in a great location to watch the interaction of the wait staff which was not professional to say the least. This is their place of work, not a place for some heavy petting. I was extremely disgusted in this trip and don't see my family or friends coming back. read more
