I've been to this Applebees location countless times and I'd have to say this is one Applebees that has a ton of staff presence. Server was very attentive from beginning to end. I know it seems so basic, but I'm here to tell you this is not always the case at restaurants. The best service I've had in a long time anywhere dining out. Our waters were refilled many times and we didn't even have to ask. The restaurant was also busy because it was after 9pm when 1/2 priced appetizers starts which is why we were here. We enjoyed boneless wings and mozzarella sticks. Served hot and fresh. It was clean and lots of WSP/Mendota decor that's always nice to look at. Parking is easy and lots of spaces available, even when the restaurant is busy. Definitely a good spot to keep in mind for 1/2 priced appetizers. read more

My wife and I are traveling back from a road trip, and we decided to stop in here for some food on our way home. We arrived right at opening time, so we were the first ones there. I went to use the men's restroom. To my surprise, it was gross. It was as if there was a rush of people there before us, and the staff had no time to clean. It appeared that whoever cleaned the bathrooms last did a quick job, paying minimal attention to the toilets. The toilets were soiled and grimy. The floors look damp as if a quick mop job just occurred. We ordered two impossible burgers and fries. It was okay. Mediocre at best. The service was also mediocer. The waitress provided a service that got the job done but didn't provide a positive connecting experience. I see one reason why we haven't been back to Applebee's in so long. Just got done eating at apple bee"s. Went to pay we had gotten a free 10 dollar bonus credit, for buying a gift card of 50$ last time and it was gonna expire on 8/3/25. We went to pay the server said to use the kiosk at the table. Mind you, the screen was still showing the remnants of whoever used it last"s finger juices, so we go to enter the gift cards and the 10 dollar one dosent work. Lo and behold, this gift card needed to be given to the server. Though no where on the card was this printed and at no time does anyone relay this information. Until now, which we find out is too late because now nothing can be done and we are told we just should use the card next time.... The hostess barely acknowledged me, and I sat for eight long minutes with no water, not even a nod. Meanwhile, a couple who arrived after me was seated next to me and immediately attended to. Not the warmest of welcomes. Then came the rescue: Aubrey, my server. After I finally resorted to using the Ziosk, she appeared, and from that moment on the evening shifted. Aubrey was attentive, efficient, and reassuring--the kind of server who makes you feel that the night is not beyond saving. Her professionalism carried the service, and she deserves full credit for that turnaround. The atmosphere itself holds promise. The dining room feels warm and inviting, the tables are neatly arranged, and the evening quiet allows for easy conversation. The restroom was serviceable--neither spotless nor neglected--but could benefit from closer attention. The meal, however, was less impressive. I ordered a 12 oz. ribeye with mashed potatoes and green beans (broccoli, curiously, was unavailable). The sides were fine, if unremarkable. The steak, unfortunately, was the true disappointment. Instead of the robust cut expected of a ribeye, it shredded apart into small fragments at the mere attempt of cutting. Having grown up on a farm, I recognize the difference between a quality steak and an inferior substitute; this, regrettably, was the latter. In sum, this restaurant has potential. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff--when engaged--can deliver excellent service, as Aubrey demonstrated. Yet the lack of attentiveness at the entrance and the underwhelming quality of the ribeye kept the experience from reaching its full promise. the manager david at this location is probably the absolutly worst mgr ive seen in the food business. we went for the all you can eat shrimp, ribs, chicken thing. we ordered once. the waitress had a big table come in and literally never came back. not once. after sitting for about 25 mins with no food or drinks i flagged someone down "david" the mgr. i told him what happened and he said "yea she has a big table" sorry. super loud. super rude. i literally ate 2 rib tips and sat until i wasnt even hungry. david said he can run my card and get us out of there if that will help. so he did. full amount. no apologies. wouldnt comp the 1 soda i drank. i paid in full for all you eat ribs and got sent out with 1 soda and 3 rib tips. this place is a joke. whoever hired "david" must be REALLY desperate for workers. he couldnt run a lemonade stand for an hour. read more

This location isn't bad at all. This is a go-to for my friends and I when we just want some happy hour appetizers and drinks. There is consistent quality in the food every single time, and I appreciate that. The service has always been good. We go mostly for happy hour. They have a good selection and great happy hour prices! Great drink deals too. If I'm not there for happy hour, I usually order a salad or some kind of sandwich. There's a Southwest steak salad that is SO GOOD. You can never go wrong with something from the grill either. My wife and I frequently visit Apple Bees for date nights. We love Apple Bees and have been coming to this restaurant for quite a few years now. We used to bring the kids here once a month, they loved it just as much as we do. I always get my usual steak while my wife orders a burger with fries. I went here Sunday afternoon with my Mother to have some late lunch. We ordered from the 2 for $22 menu. For our app we selected the spinach dip and you could tell that they microwaved it as the cheese was super hard and the dip itself was so hot we had to wait a minute to eat it. They gave us some semi stale chips to dip it with. My mom ordered the oriental chicken salad and I got the riblets platter. My mother mentioned her chicken was quite greasy and lacked taste. My riblets tasted like they boiled the meat and just pored on some BBQ sauce. it had been about a year since I had been to an Applebee's and now I know why I stopped going there. No real surprise tbh as I have known how cheap they have gotten with their food over the last 5 years or so. It did take forever to get our food and I am not sure why?? I won't be going back anytime soon. I will say on a positive note that we had fantastic service, and over tipped because our server was so great! read more

You can never go wrong with a late night trip to Applebee's. Hosting a friend from out of town who's not very interested in trying new things, I was glad we were able to settle on this chain that is known nationwide. Upon arrival, the host was rather odd. There's nothing wrong with a little individuality, but I must admit I was taken aback at the awkwardness of standing there waiting while he stared at us. After about 2 in a half minutes, I asked if we could be seated; he then directed us to a booth in the main area. My friend was use to the "2 for 20" and was hysterically laughing that here in MN, it's "2 for 22." We laughed as he went on to explain how expensive everything is here. The wait staff noticed us having a good time and joined right in with positive energy, asking us our beverage of choice. She was right to the point, and I appreciated that about her. We just missed happy hour, but the beers are pretty cheap. Overall, the grub was good! We ordered boneless buffalo wings (which weren't drenched in enough sauce) My steak, medium well was fantastic! Juicy and my side of mashed potatoes and broccoli were an excellent addition to the dish! He ordered ribs, which was drenched in a delicious BBQ sauce, but other than that I wasn't very impressed. I have been here for one hour and four minutes. It took exactly 39 minutes to get seated despite numerous booths being available and other couples coming and getting seated before me. Not being one to make a fuss i decided to wait. Two more people came on and were seated before me. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the booths and tables. I just wanted food, hell. I would even sit at the bar as long as I got some food. Update A bottle of A1 sauce was placed on my table to give me the impression that my meal is around the table. I have seen the ads on tv and i thought that i would get best service. Update 2. So it turns out that my steak was accidentally dropped and they are re making it on the rush for me. Time now is 14.40. i walked in at 13.20. I don't know what the real problem is or if this is a management problem but this being my first and last time at Applebee's. This was so far the worst experience I had at this location!!! After host seated us, for 10minutes we waited for waiter. finally asked the host what is going on and he grabbed a server (Susan) who stated it wasn't her table and walks away. Then turns back couple minutes later and gets our drink order. Now "our" waiter (John) shows up confused since there are drinks but proceeds to get our order. After I asked home why it took too long, he mentions it is busy. Our appetizer arrives via another waiter, 10 minutes later, cold. Now we are looking for a waiter to pay and host walks by and i asked him if i could see the manager (Bob). He comes back and explains how short staffed they are and it truly is impacting them. He apologizes. I understand this is unfortunate. However, when we were being seated we could have been informed that there might be some delays due to being short staffed, we would have been understanding. This was a great location with wonderful staff and great food. We went during happy hour and got serious specials on the drinks. I also liked the 2 for 25 options including the appetizers offered. We opted into the salad instead of the appetizers on the menu. The salads were HUGE which was awesome. The main entrees were really good too. The Long Island didn't have a lot of alcohol in it but that's ok for a Sunday night not sure if it would fly on other days. read more

Arrived at about 445 and had to wait about 5 minutes before we we're greeted (after making eye contact with several workers. After being seated we we're informed the host was on break. There was plenty of extra staff walking around but none designated for the front. Only a few staff were wearing their masks correctly. The remainder were wearing the Mask over their mouth but not nose. Host wore a mask when she returned but pulled it down below her chin when not bringing guests to tables. She carried a large garbage from table to table to clear instead of bringing the garbage to the kitchen. This would sit on the empty table while clearing the table. Then when wiping of tables wiped all food (table was occupied by several kids who spilled) on the floor and didn't vacuum. Table next to us ordered two wraps but came out as salads. They confronted our waitress and her response was, "okay" and then just looked at them until the family offered to just eat the incorrect meal. She never did change their plate or apologize. Payed with the kiosk and attempted to do the survey and the kiosk stopped working. We informed our waitress of this and stated we wanted to do a survey and she stated, " oh" laughed and walked away. I usually like Applebee's, but this was the worst experience thus far. This was my first time dining at the West St Paul location. It was a Monday evening, my birthday so I decided to go for a quick dinner with my sons. Upon arrival, the parking lot was empty and there were more staff than customers inside. We waited 10mins just to be seated. That should have been our que to leave. I could see staff just walking and lounging around. After finally being seated, we had to wait additional 20 mins for a server to come take our orders. This was so upsetting to me as the place wasn't even busy. Server (kanisha) didn't apologize for the wait.She didn't even bother to greet us. She acted as if she was doing us a favor. After she took our appetizers orders, I told her I wanted to order an entree to go. The server brought out the appetizers and drinks and never came back to our table. Mind you I could see her walking around, chatting and carrying on. I had to Flag down a staff twice for a To go box for our appetizers and Payment. I decided not to order more items. This location will not get another dime of my hard earned money! Original sever brought out the receipt. She must have realized how horrible she treated us and proceeded to make small talk. Everyone got their food except for one person, "Oh, sir, yours is coming on the fly because I forgot to put in your order." Note: this person ordered a salad with apples and chicken on it. 1) Apologize profusely. 2) When you say, "on the fly," make it on the fly.* 3) Don't admit that you forgot to put in the order. 3) Start comping stuff. *Typically, the term "on the fly" means "super quick," "coming right out," "let me go grab it right now." Apparently, at crapplebee's, it means, "another fifteen minutes," "they're farmvilling your lettuce in the back," "they had to find johnny appleseed to start planting the apples." Whew! I tried it anyway because it was a dollar. He made fun of my ID after he asked for it, saying that he had never seen anyway try to look so stupid for their ID. Just moved in the area. Tried this Applebee's for the first time. We had been to the one in Woodbury several times and didn't mind it even though it is a big chain restaurant. We tried the one in West St. Paul and I still gag a little bit thinking about it. Sat at the bar. The chicken in the quesadillas were a gray colored sponge material. Brisket tacos were somewhat edible but were gross. Staff seemed too good for us or anyone else at the bar. Guys at the end of the bar commented on the fact that we actually ordered food there and laughed. They said that they just stick to drinks. Now I know why. Smart move. read more

If you like Applebee's, this is a consistent restaurant. The menu is from the chain but we have always had a good meal with good service provided. This is my favorite Applebee's. I am not a chain restaurant type of gal but I must be honest and admit we come here almost weekly. We usually hit 5 dollar burger night which is a great deal. Any burger for $5 and you can get fries, veggies, or add a side salad for a small amount which is what I always do. I love their salads! The one item I crave here is the Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad. SO good. You have to try it. If you like lime and a little zest in your food, you will love this! I hate to sound like an old person but we even have our favorite table. We as in myself and anyone who comes with me. They always seat us in our "spot". The service here is always attentive and they keep the glasses full which is much appreciated. Late night Happy Hour is a great way to end the day chatting with friends and its never loud in this one because the bar is farther away from the dining area. If you are in West St. Paul, this is one of the few places on Robert you can actually go late at night. Also, one that hasn't closed down on the West side of Robert...I sure would like to know why most restaurants fail on that side of Robert...Even Sonic didn't make it and everyone LOVES Sonic... Chicken was one, and Mac n cheese was the other. Not only did it take 30 min for someone to take our order it took even longer for the food to come out. 45 min to be more exact. When me and my daughter walked in we waited for a few minutes to be told sit where you want and I will bring you a menu, then still had to wait for the menus, but at least a friendlier waitress brought them to us. Then a manager had to come take our drink order because the waitress was nowhere to be found and it was not busy in there, it was me and two other tables and they had 3 waitresses and 2 managers. A table that was seated way after me and my daughter got their drinks before us, their appetizers before us, and their food. Customer service sucks during the day. The food was fine. The problem was that restaurants are supposed to be following specific rules so that they can be open after the COVID shut down. The staff are supposed to wear masks at all times. The bartender had hers pulled under her chin the entire time we were there. Our waitress had hers on sometimes but at times it was below the nose and then one time below the chin. I understand that by choosing to go to a restaurant, I am accepting some risk, but staff should always be following the requirements. read more

When we came into St. Paul Minnesota we got in pretty late- and our food options were limited so we decided to get some Applebee's. There was some kind of sporting event/ high school event that was going on there and it was packed- but there were a number of open places to sit and we weren't seated quickly. We didn't understand why they made us wait when the booth they placed us at was literally open when we walked in. Then when we finally sat down they came over and told us if we didn't order right then- we would have to wait for a long time since they were about to put the kids order in soon and we would be after them if we waited. So we quickly ordered and the food was alright- it was the typical chain restaurant re heated food that we had and they did mess up our order- but we didn't do anything about it since we would have had to wait a century to get it fixed with the large order they were working on. Over all there was no reason that I would have been eating here and we were only here because it was the only thing open in town when we got in late Friday night. Unfortunately this experience will negatively effect my view on the chain and I don't think I would willingly eat at an Applebee's after that. read more

We've been going to this Applbees for about 5 years now. But the last few times the service has been horrible. The last time we went, just a week ago, was so bad that I couldn't stand it. The waitress never came back to check with us. I had to walk my glass to the bar for a refill. At one point the entire front of the house crew was no where to be seen. The Manager spent over 10 minutes with one table, friends? But never came to ours, or anyone else I could see. My steak was very fatty and so was my wife's steak. I did contact the company but have received no response. I think they have given up. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
