From the second we walked up from the private parking lot to the Victorian Mansion we were warmly greeted by owner and operator Alfred.  We both felt welcomed and overwhelmed with the beauty of this home. Alfred made us feel like a family member and gave us a tour of his beautiful home and it's history. Power's Mansion is adorned with so many antique pieces and trinkets that you might initially mistake it for a museum. Each of the rooms have a theme; we had the lighthouse room which was fully decorated in the lighthouse theme. The breakfast was hearty for travelers with tons of carbs, and I loved their quiche. Alfred sets a beautiful atmosphere with music and lighting. We were treated to outstanding hospitality! Alfred went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. His stellar recommendations to visit the iconic parks and sights in and around Auburn were greatly appreciated. Power's Mansion is over 120 years old so it's not perfect but is very charming and we would definitely go back again.

It was very clean, fully stocked with everything we needed, we had a comfortable bed and a full kitchen to work with. The water pressure in the shower was perfect too! The property and surrounding areas are beautiful and I believe it's well worth the price. I was able to bring my two pups with no issues. I also loved that check-in is at 2:00 (instead of the increasingly common 4:00!), and the electronic check-in was incredibly easy - no need to meet anyone, just use the provided code to access your cabin. They've also put a lot of thought into the property. There's a really nice common area with chairs, a fire pit, and games, and the cabins have TV and Wi-Fi. The only downside was the cooling unit in our cabin (unit #7). It worked great when we first arrived on a very warm day, but later started making a terrible squealing noise and stopped cooling properly, so we had to turn it off. The cabin got pretty warm, and unfortunately only one of the windows had a screen, so opening the others would have meant inviting all the local bugs in to spend the night with us. Other than that, we really liked Miners Camp and thought it was a charming, thoughtfully put-together little place. We'd definitely stay again - hopefully with a happy cooling unit next time!

We felt safe, comfortable and extremely welcomed! The private kitchen was spotless with all the amenities that you needed. It was not far from town. Having a private entrance was very nice feature as it gave us more of a luxury hotel-feeling instead of being inside of someone else's house (as is the case with many other places). Great parking. Will definitely stay again. I highly recommend the Guesthouse suite and the owners were super hosts!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying with Bill and Bonnie a couple weeks back. What a "gem"…read moreas they say. When we pulled up (and into a gated property) Bill greeted us from the deck. We met inside where Bonnie checked us in real quick. Then we got a tour with Bill. He is sooo super friendly and kind. Just a genuinely nice host. Some people act nice but it is professionally cordial. I didn't feel that with Bill, or Bonnie. (Sorry don't mean to leave her out ) Bill gave us great recommendations for wineries and we were able to wine taste with fee waived at 2 wineries we visited. We also got discounts on wine! The places were so chill and relaxing. Beautiful, quiet, relaxing, just what we wanted. I texted Bonnie a few times and she always got back to me super fast. Bonnie also is a wonderful baker and she made a super nice breakfast each day. Bill would refill your OJ and tell you to have a seat as he got coffee refills. When Bonnie was done cooking she came out and then I got to pick her brain about our meals. I love talking food . She was really nice as well and easy to talk to. They are literally around the corner from Abels Farms and are right in the heart of apple hill. Both wineries were no more than a mile away. Rooms are decorated very cute, with different themed rooms. All the amenities are there. Robes and slippers in the closet, a hot tub in a gazebo, and the room was nicely renovated with quality materials used. Super great stay and I recommend them highly.

Nikki was very sweet on the phone and my family was very excited about our 5 day stay on the American River. When we arrived the first thing we noticed was the river is about a 100 yards downhill from the cottage. I was a little dissappointed about that. The next thing that we noticed was that the cemetary is about 6 feet from the master bedroom window... we knew about the cemetary, but didn't realize that this was the view from the master bedroom. One thing that I didn't take note of, was the fact that there is no T.V. upstairs or internet access. While there is a T.V. downstairs, it just plays vcr and dvd's. The downstairs is also almost impossible to heat without getting the upstairs too hot. The t.v. room does have a small stove type electric heater, but it doesn't heat the lower bedroom at all. My daughter and grandson had to sleep on the futon so they would not freeze all night. My guess is that the downstairs will stay nice and cool in the summer months. Now the best part... there is a rooster right below the master bedroom and it starts to crow way before sunrise. Usually it starts up at 5:00 a.m. and crows until 7:00 a.m., this was very disturbing and we all hated it. The chickens are cute, but the rooster should be moved from this relaxing vacation rental. The property is very pretty and the river is also very pretty. We were told about the bakery/coffee shop down the road, but when we got there, it had a sign "closed until January 4th". This cabin would be great if all you want to do is read books and relax in the winter months. I would probably be back in the summer when there is actually something to do.

It is very well maintained, and is comfortable, with everything you will need to relax. The cottage is very clean and Nikki is a great hostess. The kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances and dishes you will need, and there are plenty of extra blankets to keep you comfortable. Outside, the kids had great fun roaming the property and playing by the river. They also enjoyed the chickens and duck, which Nikki even let them feed. This is a beautiful place to relax and have some quiet family time without the noise of the city. I greatly enjoy that there is only a TV downstairs, because we wanted a quiet environment, free of electronics when we vacation. I highly recommend this cottage, and we plan to return at least annually!
