It's about a 5 minute drive from downtown Placerville. When we arrived, we were greeted and given the tour. Our room had a little snack picnic basket, freshly cut flowers, and even a water dish for our dog. When we returned from town after dinner, they had left little chocolates and dog treats on the bed. We also were offered wine and a chocolate torte. This place is not a fru-fru high class establishment. It is a homey, comfortable place. I was comfortable, well-fed, well-looked after, and completely relaxed.

After one night they had to check out! Cobwebs and spiders everywhere including all over the floral arrangement which hung directly above their heads. They checked out the next morning she came to the room offered to fumigate which was unacceptable because residing in a place immediately after fumigation is not recommended health-wise. She then proceeded to keep two nights stay and only refund the rest. This is not good customer service and is not acceptable. Not a place I would recommend for guests to stay in Placerville. There are many other options with higher standards of quality than this. Enjoy the picture of what was above their heads while they attempted to sleep all night.

We had booked another location we thought we loved, but it didn't feel right. For the second night, I chose Davies Family Inn purely by chance--drawn in by the idea of what they offered. We drove in completely unaware that we were about to discover what would become our gemstone, our true getaway. The property is deeply tranquil and serene. Evenings are spent around fire pits with a glass of wine, surrounded by silence except for the sounds of nature. We've baked apple pies from their orchard, enjoyed endless peaceful nights under the stars, and--by the generous allowance of the property owners--explored the land on their ATV simply to wander and take it all in. What truly sets this place apart is the people. Linda and her husband Jim make you feel like family. When I call and say I need a getaway, they always find a way--even during blackout dates. That kind of care is rare and meaningful. Trisha, who maintains the property, is phenomenal, and the grounds are always immaculate. This is a very, very gorgeous retreat tucked right in the middle of Placerville, yet it feels worlds away. Part of me wants to keep it a secret--but it deserves to be known. Linda was so great and easy to reach if we had any questions or concerns, and was very hands on during the reception. She was extremely helpful. The bartender Beka was so sweet and did an amazing job. Everyone absolutely loved her! The cabins were very clean and so cozy. Having everything all in one place for the wedding was so much less stress and Shadow Ridge Ranch was the best place to do it. I can't thank them enough for making our day so beautiful, special and fun. The reception was a BLAST and we danced the night away. The way that the property is set up was perfect! Although you fill like your way out in the country you can actually walk to old town by using the walking bridge. The hotel it's self is nice but yet very old but still clean and semi updated? I didn't know how to put that. Our room was small and clean, no Tv in the room which is okay for us, they have a tinnnny celling fan that is cute... it works okay, the bed is a metal old fashioned frame and it is very squeaky and the mattress was just a little too soft for me and my back ( late 20's) . Restroom was small and clean. It is a bread and breakfast inn... not to sure how they operate but breakfast was ready for us around 9am a little late but tasted great. Staff was super friendly, very kind and helpful with a great smile! There's a restaurant across the street; The Forester, good food, prices are $15 +.
