Jean has been helping me with appliance repair for about 10 years now. I wish I knew of him sooner. He is fantastic- honest, knowledgeable, reliable, responsive, reasonable fees, and explains things well. He will advise if the appliance is fixable, or if it makes more sense to buy a replacement (if the part is no longer available or other reason). Some of the things he has fixed or diagnosed include: - Oven wasn't heating well: replaced the broiler element - Dishwasher issues: a) had a small leak: diagnosed and changed the lower spray arm (leak stopped) b) not working: found glass or a physical object/debris stuck, and removed/cleared it c) error code: cleaned out debris, and found drain hose behind was overly bent/collapsed, and reinstalled it properly - Washer not washing well: advised the part needed was no longer in stock/available, and to replace it. (It was already pretty old) - Dryer: knob broke, repaired/reattached it so it works/looks like new - Refrigerator: a) not cooling well or having ice maker issues... a fix about once a year over a few years/different parts were not working (He advised me not to keep repairing due to that particular brand/model having issues, and we eventually replaced it. I probably should have done it sooner, but he kept us going until then.) b) install a replacement refrigerator drawer, or a new filter cap , or reinstall water filter and condenser c) LG compressor failed/stopped cooling (Jean didn't work on that particular brand/model.) We paid someone else to replace the compressor (still under warranty). But it failed again a number of years later. Jean advised that that particular compressor had a known issue, so we bought a new refrigerator that didn't have that issue. Gas cooktop: reinstalled new burner base, later new cooktop. Over the years my husband and I have had him repair dishwasher, dryer, and washing machine--as well as the door handle on a range oven--and he's done it all in the swiftest and most professional manner. Last Friday I called him late in the day in a panic because my washing machine pump stopped working. He was here within an hour, had the part ordered, and came Monday to install it. Jean is incredibly honest & trustworthy. Our clothes washer didn't seem to be completing the spin cycle so the load was soaking wet. My mom referred me to Jean when my washer/dryer broke earlier this year. He came either same day or next day (I can't remember) and diagnosed the issue and helped recommend a new model. His diagnostic fee was much less than other people I called. I am pretty conservative about 5 stars in the service sector...but Jean is simply the best! The dishwasher would not drain...and DH had tried to clear the drain...but it didn't help...so we are thinking...pump?? Well, YELPER that I am.. I turned to appliance repair...and decided to try this 5 star guy. We lucked out, and he could come in the PM of the same day! He was prompt, and analyzed the problem. And yes, it was the drain being plugged.....but he knew more about how to take it apart than we did. Many people would have told you you needed the pump....but all Jean did was cleared it for us, and as a big bonus, showed us how to do it in the future. Lesson learned....do not believe the manufacturer...and do rinse your dishes thourghly.....'cuz otherwise you will have to have Jean come out and clean it for you!! It's rare that I would give a 5-star much less to a repair service company, but Jean gets to be my first and he deserves it! My washer all a suddenly started to make noise one day and would not drain or go into rinse cycle. I usually Google on YouTube the issue to see if there was any DIY (do-it-yourself) video to help resolve the issue before I shell out the funds for a repair guy. My husband and dad open the washer up and was able to located the issue. Somehow something was stuck in between the washer tub and the shell of the washer. Unfortunately, my husband and dad were not able to retrieve whatever was stuck down there. So it was time to call an expert. I started dialing numbers for appliance repair service company around Concord area. I actually got several quotes from different companies around the area before I got Jean's Appliance Fixed. One company quoted me a ridiculous rate-even after I told him what the issue was and that my husband had already taken the washer apart so all he had to do was remove the tub to get the item wedge in the washer. That guy even had the nerve to tell me that it would actually cost me more because my husband created more work for him by taking the washer a part. Needless to say I didn't call him for the repair. Anyway-- I went with Jean because he was local (I like supporting the local business when I can) and he was available that day. I told Jean my husband had 3 more loads of laundry to do this weekend and didn't want to go to the laundromat. I was appreciative that Jean was able to give us an appointment right away. Unfortunately something did come up and Jean had to reschedule our appointment for the next morning. He did call me to notified me of that and I was okay with that. After call several repair services, I discovered how hard it was to get them within a day or two. Everyone seemed to be books for 3-4 day in advance, so I was happy Jean was able to get us in for an appointment. Long story short (sorry..too late) Jean came and pulled out a freakin' pillowcase out of my washer! I would not have believe it if I didn't see it for myself. Instead of $400+ that someone else said they would have charged me, Jean did it all under 30 minutes and I only paid $115! He even gave me some advice on the washer for easy repairs! It's been a week. So far we have a broken shower, a broken fridge (with a slow leak to boot), a broken car and a broken dishwasher. In one week. For real. Replacing two major appliances was not what I wanted to do within a few weeks of Christmas. Thanks to Yelp I found Jean. APPLIANCE FIXED Guarantee..."If a repair we have completed fails within 90 days, we will reevaluate the repair done and fix it at no cost to you. We take pride in our work, and will work hard to ensure the job is done right the first time!" I called Jean and explained to him the problem we had with our freezer's ice maker. We CLEARLY told him that the unit FREEZES and we have to defrost the unit every time. Jean looked at the freezer and evaluated the problem as a FROZEN chute and reservoir. DUH ! We told you that ! He proceeded to defrost the unit with his shop vacuum and reported that this WILL fix the problem. We question his repair and asked him to evaluate the defroster. It was OK. We wrote Jean a check for $105.00 for his services ($60 call / $45 labor). Jean did say that if the problem happens again...CALL him. Two weeks go by and the ice maker freezes again. I call Jean to report the problem and he tells me that he had thought about the issue and came to the conclusion that a valve needed to be replaced. Cost would be $140. ($75 part / $65 labor). I understand the charge for the part but to charge a labor fee when he clearly mis-diagnosed the problem initially is ludicrous. Jean did say that he would send a complete refund of $105 but six days have gone by and haven't received a check. I live in the area and mail delivery would take 1-2 days from his location. Guy came to fix the ignitor. $75 service call charge. Now most places will apply the service call charge towards the labor cost! Nope, not this place. An additional $65 to install a new ignitor (10 minute job), plus the part of course, $95 with tax. Quote was $235.xx! Said forget it, went on Amazon and ordered replacement ignitor shipped including tax for under $20!! I will do the 10 minute job myself, (after reading online just how easy it is) saving over $200! Now if you didn't want to do the job, you could still order the part and easily find someone to install for you for WAY less than this guy. Thanks so much to YELP and Robert H. for the assistance in finding Appliance Fixed. My tenant renting my townhouse called with the first problem since moving in in September. She said that the washer was not working properly. I, figured this would fall under my home warranty, and was sad to find that I had not opted to upgrade to that since the appliances were brand new when I moved in. So, I had to find someone reliable and in some timely fashion to go out to the house and fix the washer. I phoned Jean Gauthier in the evening on Sunday night. He answered and said he would be happy to come out the next day. My tenant had no availability on Monday, so this would be a calendar juggle with me in the middle. Jean said he would be happy to arrange with my tennant and would phone me when he had answers. My tenant phoned on Tuesday mid-day to tell me how wonderful Jean was. He arrived on time, a minute early to be exact, 859am. He quickly determined that the washer itself was fine and began troubleshooting alternate causes. He found that the outlet was not working properly and went down to the circuit breaker. The breaker had not blown the fuse, but had a short. He was able to fix this problem and get everything back working again. Jean phoned me later in the day to arrange payment and gave me all the information on the box, future maintenance on the dryer, and offered to come back to do any of these repairs that I would need, minus the initial service fee. And all was well with under a $100 spent. You better bet if I need the dryer maintenanced, the washer fixed, the circuit board repaired, or have any other appliance issues, Jean will be the first person I call. I called here after a bad experience somewhere else left me hanging... I talked to Jean, and set up an appointment. He came out, and is very professional. He arrived on time, in an up kept vehicle, not a run down POS. It was obvious very quickly that Jean knew what he was doing. The spin cycle stopped working on my washing machine. Jean ran it through a number of tests to find and verify the problem. Unfortunately, when he found the problem, it turned out to be the most expensive part, and the repair would end up costing about the same as a new machine. Yes, I had to pay the $75 service call fee, but I DID NOT MIND. Jean worked hard to get this figured out accurately, and the money was well spent since another place almost had me dumping more money into this machine. A play-by-play of my latest appliance nightmare turned amazing dream sequence. My oven was on the fritz. It was just before New Years Eve, and company loomed, as did braised ancho chile short ribs and a bunch of roasting. The Viking authorized repair folks either couldn't come until late February (seriously, two of them could not make it for a month). So I did what I hate to do. I clicked on the Google Ads, and found a horrific website, that honestly, I thought was a scraped auto-created site rather than a real service providers' site. My wife is in the background screaming at me, that our Viking HAD to be serviced by an authorized repairman, and that the website had to be a front. OK, it wasn't that bad, but she was skeptical. And so was I. So I called the Viking authorized shop, and was going to wait. Until I saw these reviews of Appliance Fixed!. So I gave it a shot. And called Jean. So let me tell you what we found. Not only was he available the next day, Jean is the kind of guy who after he fixes what he sets out to fix, you just might ask to stay for dinner. He is incredibly honest, trustworthy, nice, and an absolute pleasure to have in your home. Honestly, I cannot recommend any service provider as much as I'm doing so now. This is the second time I've used Appliance Fixed! to repair my washer and dryer. The dryer element went out on a Sunday, though I thought it might be a lint build-up. I cleaned the lint exhaust and still no heat. I called Jean on Monday afternoon, and made an appointment for him to come by at 3p on Wednesday. Overall i was happy that leakage from the fridge in my rental has stopped . However, they were supposed to come back and fix the ice maker under their service guarantee which they never did. In addition, I feel a little bit tricked about the cost. We've used Jean several times for appliance repairs. He has always been very professional, and fair on pricing. From washer/dryers, to dishwasher, to refrigerators, he is very knowledgeable and quickly diagnoses problems if possible. Our dryer stumped him, but then it would anyone. Control logic is bad, which is a design flaw, not a repair gone bad. I was surprised to read the negative reviews; he is a reserved guy, so maybe it's a personality discord. I have used this service at least twice over the years. Jean was responsive and on time and completed the repair efficiently and seems knowledgeable about a range of possibly obscure systems. I was a little confused recently when the combined "service call" ($75) and labor ($70, under an hour in time) was more than the replacement part (igniter for oven - $96). I thought companies tend to just charge a flat fee for the first hour, and for that, for an individual, $145 seems high. ... By contrast, my furnace contractor just cleaned a malfunctioning sensor in a service call with his partner and, as long as he was in the attic, checked and tightened a flue and tidied up debris roofing, and was here more slightly more than an hour, and only charged $155 for the entire service, which would cover their travel time/cost and wages for two people ... read more

Jean not only wired up the used Jenn-Air cooktop we had bought from outside the area, but after doing so he noticed a problem with the burner switches that was easy to miss but could have been disastrous had no one noticed. He stayed in contact as we initiated the long, arduous process of getting the appliance retailer to send replacement switches, which took several months.
