José, the technician who came out for the estimate to fix my washer and returned for the repair, was very nice. Unfortunately, the estimate was $325 in labor for a job that took 20 minutes to complete. When I asked why it was so high, the response was they overestimated to cover for other jobs that might take longer and that estimates have nothing to do with the time required to complete the job. I would understand having a minimum or a service call fee because there are costs involved with the technician coming out, but that's not the case here. These guys were a cut above. We had a job done to "fix" our Kitchenaide refrigerator form another appliance repair company. It didn't work after they were done (and $1500 later). So I called FixEm for a second opinion. Immediately I could tell the difference in their expertise. They were appalled at the botched job. Took video and picture and showed me that they ruined our refrigerator, burned it up, melted wires, mettle fittings and drain pan, just a mess. They could have tried to make a pretty penny trying to fix it for us given it was a $4k high-end refrigerator, but said it was out of commision and we should move on. Even gave us a detailed report to send to the previous company to try and get a refund on repairs made. So appreciated their integrity and expertise. Will use them in the future for sure! read more

Update to my previous review: While I wasn't happy with the original missed appointment, these guys went above and beyond to make it right. The next morning Moshe called me first thing and apologized for the error and asked if they could come by that same day to work on my washer. Within two hours Nathan arrived and fixed the problem same day. He was polite knowledgeable and professional. They also waived their inspection fee and gave me a discount on the labor. Mistakes happen, but I really respect when someone owns up to it and does what they can to fix it. They made me eat my words about the last review. Will definitely call them in the future. Original review: My wife made an appointment to have them fix our washer and they gave us a 3 hour window from 4-7:00 PM. Rearranged my schedule to make sure I was home by 4:00, and they told us they would call when the technician was on their way. At 6:59 got a call from their technician, apologizing that he'd lost track of time. I understand these things happen, but to not call earlier then 1 minute before your supposed to arrive shows a complete lack of respect for my time. Didn't offer to make it up in any way other than coming the next day at an even later window. Can't say it filled me with confidence he would have shown then. I chose FixEm to fix my fridge due to the good yelp reviews, however their service ended up being extremely expensive and after $300+ and two tech visits, my fridge is still not working. Techs don't carry common replacement parts and they don't stock them in a warehouse, so they have to order the part per project which means they charge you for labor ($250/hour -- wtf?!) for the next service call after the part is delivered. The tech also skipped basic steps like flushing the water line to the fridge, and told me the the ice maker was working before he left (it wasn't). I contacted FixEm because the Fridge still wasn't working and rather than send a tech out immediately (per their work guarantee), they said they could only send out the tech that had previously worked on the fridge. My guess is that they don't actually employe their techs, just like they don't stock basic inventory that you'd expect a fridge repair shop to carry. read more

We were glad when the power came back on but we're in a dilemma when the fridge didn't come back to life. A quick search of Yelp led me to Fixem to diagnose what was wrong with the fridge. Best customer experience I've had this year! Seriously. Bryce was the repair technician that provided the service for our Fisher Paykal fridge. He was great at evaluating the problem and communicating clearly what our options were as well as his perspective. He came across very trustworthy and then totally delivered against that impression. Several challenges surfaced along the way (the fridge repair was complex) and Bryce was fantastic at communicating the challenges, options and helped us evaluate what step to take as he worked thru each troubleshooting step. In the end at a point when I suspect most companies would have told us to buy a new fridge we decided to try a part he thought would solve the problem but was not documented. He described very clearly his rationale so we rolled the dice. It worked and he saved us the cost of a new fridge. Even if it hadn't worked I was still thinking this was the best experience. Bryce was so great! Due to the complex nature of the repair issue and the additional steps to resolve several visits were required (all as timely as possible, no delays on FixEm's side) but no extra charges were added beyond the original estimate.
