The repairman who came to our house did not seem to know what he was doing, which required a visit from someone else (who I assumed was his boss). Before our scheduled appointment, my wife had contacted Diaz N Sons and had advised that the cover above the water dispenser was broken and requested that it be addressed at the service visit as well. My wife had sent photographs of the part so that there would be no confusion. When the "boss" arrived, I asked him if he was going to address that as well. He blew it off very quickly, stating, "I wasn't told anything about it." He assured me that the part would be ordered, and since we were "under warranty," it would be installed quickly, and we would only be liable for the part cost. As memory serves, this transpired in April 2026. Between April and July, we contacted Diaz and Sons to get updates and were told two basic responses: 1) The part is on backorder, and we will update you when it arrives, and 2) there has been a family emergency, and we will contact you when we can. Exasperated in July, I took a picture of the model number of the part ($200) and contacted the manufacturer myself. The part arrived within one week and was a simple installation.

Then a second burner went out. Our house was about to go on the market and we called Ivanhoe Appliance Service. Ed came out the same day that we called. He was able to fix the one burner on the spot and then gave us the option to order the needed parts on our own from Amazon or he could order them from his distributor. We chose to order ourselves for a significant savings. Ed returned a few days later and installed the ordered parts and now we have a perfectly working stove. When we asked if he could also do maintenance on our washer and what it would cost, he told us that maintenance was not required, and showed us how we could do simple maintenance on our own when needed. This honesty impressed me. Finally, he asked if we had a broom he could use since he "had to go upon our roof to clean the dryer vent anyway, and he noticed we had a lot of pinestraw that had accumulated on our roof". As a 79 year old, getting up on our roof would have been unwise of me. He cleaned it off, without mentioning it again. So decided to get a new dishwasher. Asked Jesus to recommend a good one. He did. I asked the estimated price. He called an appliance place and got the price which was affordable. I asked how soon I could get it. He talked to the owner of the appliance place who said he could deliver it as soon as he closed shop for the day. Jesus arranged for someone to come and dispose of the broken dishwasher. The new one was delivered that evening and Jesus came back a couple of days later and installed it. Now that is what I call great service.
