Bottom of my freezer had a solid layer of ice. Steve came and told me to wait a week to see if the problem resurfaced after thawing the frig out. It did and I called him and he said he would come the next day but he didn't show up or call. When I called him he said he would be there the next morning, which he was. He cleaned out the drainage hole at the bottom of the freezer and inserted a heat probe. Freezer is back to normal again. Reasonably priced. Through a few recommendations from NextDoor Neighbors, I was able to get an efficient and productive resolution to my refrigerator issue. For the past several months, there was water 'leaking from my freezer' into the main compartment. I called Steve on a Sunday, and he took my call while he was driving home. I told him my problem and he indicated he would call me when he got back to his shop. It was almost 7pm and he returned my call as he said he would. My LG 13 yrs old fridge was giving out cold air but not freezing enough. My frozen food were semi melting. I got Steve's name here from Yelp. He answered at my first call. He got here in Queens within one hour of calling. He told me it only take him 10 min to diagnose my fridge. $75 cash to come to the house. He told us it's compressor overheat. He cleaned out the dust behind the fridge and instructed us to unplug for 4 hours. Then plug it back in to see if it will start again. And it did. He said it will take $200 for part and $600 for labor to fix it. He even advised us to buy a new one instead of throwing money to fix it. He even called next day to follow up. Clothes dryer would not heat. Steve answered phone directly on Friday afternoon and was at my home within the hour. On the call he advised, if needed, he would apply service call $75 to repair cost. Soon after he arrived at my residence he investigated situation as he was fully knowledgeable on my old Sears/Kenmore machine. Steve explained situation would require separate licensed electrical work before he could do repair. I left deposit with Steve for his share of work (parts). I told him I had an electrician I could call. Steve followed up next day with phone call to check status. On Sunday after electrical work was separately finished, I called Steve and he arrived within one half hour to finish the repair. Appreciated timely turnaround. Steve also advised on refrigerator leak issue; he advised defrosting and testing it, before any repair possibly needed to be done. He genuinely cared about getting my dryer in working order in an expedient, careful and safe manner. He showed me all the parts he purchased as well as all the parts that he oiled up, repaired, and explained in detail why they had to be replaced. I can't rate Steve on his repairs, as he was honest with us and said that the problem with my LG refrigerator wasn't the relay... it's a much more expensive problem, and honestly not worth fixing. We paid him the $75 visit fee for the test, and that was it. But what makes this 5 stars? I called Steve the night before his visit...on a SUNDAY. He arrived as early as he was able to on Monday morning. He gave my wife a bunch of advice, and while she told me everything, I wanted to understand a little bit more, so I called him... at like 7PM on Monday night. As good as it gets. He came when he said he would and called an hour and a half before the appointment to confirm and tell me he was on his way. He fixed my Gas oven and was out the door done 35 minutes after he came. I also asked him about a problem with my fridge which he told me he could fix but that its not worth it that my fridge's life is done and once it breaks alittle more I should just get a new one. He charged me 35.00 less then a repair man who came to the house 2 weeks ago had quoted me and he kept his price. Great guy he fixes all appliances and has been working over 30 years. . Steve is so great!! My dryer suddenly died... I went to Yelp and called him based on his reviews and proximity to my home... To my great surprise, he was able to come same day, within a few hours. Of course, the dryer restarted when he got there, but he mentioned a couple of possible causes, so only charged me the cost of the visit. Sure enough, the next day, it made a godawful noise that I recorded and texted him with. He came back and diagnosed that I needed a new motor, and advised that it would be more cost effective to get a new motor than a new machine. New motor arrived within a few days, he quickly installed it, and we are good to go! Subtracted my original visit cost from the total of the 3 visits; very pleasant, prompt, honest, and efficient. I got another estimate for a Maytag double door refrigerator that was not cooling and that person charged the diagnostic fee as never showed up to finish the job. Our dishwasher stopped working and we contacted Steve after finding him on Yelp. He was able to come the same weekend. He was honest and made the recommendation that the repairs to the dishwasher would cost almost as much as replacing the unit. He called me back and provided his recommendation for a new unit.
