My last routine maintenance was performed by Shearin, located here in Rocky Mount. The representative showed up for the job and was knocking on the door within 15 minutes to inform me that he had completed the job. I asked if he had cleaned the unit and was told that it did not need any cleaning. I do have my unit on a rack off of the ground because I live in a flood zone. At the very least, the coils should had been cleaned and other components checked. I asked if he had a checklist of items to check off for the maintenance and he informed me that he did not. That sent up a red flag. These checklists are available online. Needless to say, I was charged $100 for no service that didn't even last a half hour. I am now very careful and used this incident as a learning experience. I have also now learned what to do if a similar situation happens again. Curtis J.

    Warning: Review Coercion & $1,100+ Pricing Discrepancy…read more I used Santa Air for five years and recommended them to many friends. Unfortunately, their business model has changed from "honest and hardworking" to "opaque and manipulative." The Technical Issues: In 2020, Santa Air installed my trane system but failed to properly connect the emergency heat strips. I spent five winters wondering why my house wouldn't stay warm below 30°F. They missed this mistake during every subsequent maintenance visit over the 5 years. Recently, they tried to charge me $1,700 for repairs I didn't need. A second opinion confirmed their diagnosis was wrong; that technician fixed Santa Air's original installation mistake and the actual sensor issue for a total of $575. The Billing Issues: Their current pricing "tiers" (Bronze, Silver, Gold) are incredibly over-inflated compared to other local HVAC companies. And if you only need a repair included in the Gold tier, you have to pay for all the things you don't need in the tiers below it. When I realized the invoice was vague and the work wasn't needed, I cancelled. The Ethics Issue: The most disappointing part was the office's response. They tried to emotionally guilt-trip me. They held my refund hostage, telling me they would only return my money if I removed my negative reviews. I refused to be coerced and had to fight for three months through my bank to recover the funds for services never rendered. Don't let the high star rating fool you--they are actively pressuring customers to delete bad experiences. Always get a second opinion!!!

I called on 7/3/25 to request an estimate on a septic problem. I called a few references and got glowing reviews. They must have been friends and family because the "owner" came out to do the work himself, who ended up being the son. He started the work, left a huge mess and I couldn't get him back to finish for over six weeks. No explanation or apology, just "I'm here now." He still didn't finish the work, said he never promised he would do everything that was on his estimate and didn't have time to do it all. He said he had the best rating in town so too bad, hire a more expensive company next time and pay more. I had to hire another company to finish his unfinished work and clean up the mess he left behind at considerable expense. I had also paid him to repair my washing machine. He replaced a part and after being paid left in a hurry. I turned the washer on immediately and it didn't work. I called him before he even got out of my neighborhood and he said he couldn't return because he was late for his daughter's T-ball game. I found that he had never even plugged it back in to see if the washer worked. I texted him several times the following week and he agreed to come back and even scheduled a time to return but has never showed up or called in two months. He said in his last text, "I'm not going to not show up and check it out." Well he lied, he never came back. I'm out $350 and the washer still doesn't work. Don't believe the all good reviews because they could be either friends or fake reviews. I called the business and spoke to the owner on 12/31/25. He denied any responsibility or liability for work done by his son, who had represented himself as the company owner to me. He said that if his son is doing work himself that was not dispatched by the company, it's not his business. I didn't know his son prior to this, I had called the business phone listed on the internet and the person who answered said they would come out and give me an estimate. He did not inform me that it was not being done through Ashley's Plumbing and would therefore not be covered under any "warranty or liability" through Ashley's Plumbing. He came to my home in an Ashley's Plumbing work vehicle. This is a total misrepresentation of the business relationship when I hired Ashley's Plumbing to do a job that cost me well over $5,000. It is hard to trust people these days when you have people in business who misrepresent themselves and an owner who claims ignorance. The owner also told me that any negative review posted would receive a standard reply one time and ignored after that. BEWARE!!

    I woke up to brush my teeth for work and my sink spit at me and no water came out I went down in my…read morecrawlspace to investigate and saw water gushing from my pipe just before the pressure tank,so I ran up turned off my well pump and called Ashley's Plumbing.Within three hours I received a call that the plumber was on his way to my house.Two very nice and professional men Olson and Jim introduced themselves and asked how they can help,I showed them the problem and they immediately started to work on it.They had me fixed in no time and were so polite when giving me the bill and leaving .The whole experience from start to finish made a stressful situation a great experience...They will always be my go to company for any and all plumbing needs.
