I'm not one to normally write a review but I'm hoping this helps others not make the same mistake I made. I purchased a new AC and furnace in 2022 from Comfort Monster. Last year there was an issue with a part that should have been under warranty which cost me $2500 in labor costs. To avoid this I was sold an extended warranty, this year the AC unit stopped working again. The excuse I was given was that the panel is in the sun. The panel has been in the sun since the house was built. Terrible customer service and it seems like they aren't sure what they are doing. I wouldn't recommend. Stain found where their truck was parked led to a confrontation with their attorney. On Friday, June 23 2023 Comfort Monster came to do a full day's work. The next day I noticed a large stain (presumably oil) where their truck was parked. I notified their business office on Monday, June 26 2023 about it. I sent them pictures of the stain on both June 26 and 28th. They informed us that they would submit it to their insurer and inspect their truck. That was on June 30 2023. WE HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THEM OR THEIR INSURER SINCE THEN. After waiting more than a month since notification, we had the driveway cleaned on July 28, 2023 and paid for those services ourselves. On July 29, 2023 we sent Comfort Monster the bill for the cleanup and told them that we would keep the matter private in return for reimbursement of the cleanup (mistakes do happen); but we would not stay silent if they continued to ignore us or refuse to accept responsibility. We take health issues very seriously. My wife has ovarian cancer; I have Lyme disease. The response: their attorney contacted us on Aug 2, 2023, told us that his client would NOW check their truck, get back to me with their results but considered my request nothing but a shake-down. They definitely missed the mark determining what was wrong with my HVAC. A little background is my air handler was installed 8 years ago and an evaporator coil was installed 3 years ago. According to google, evaporator coils last about 10 years and they said I needed to replace my three year old coil. So, I was charged $100 for them to come in and tell me my evaporator coil needed to be replaced. He mentioned it would probably need to be replaced every couple of years. The coil would cost $4000 to replace and an undetermined amount of time to get an evaporator coil installed (due to supply issues). So, instead of living in 90 degree heat, I decided to get a second opinion. The second opinion spotted in 20 minutes I had an outside leak of my refrigerant. They patched it up, recharged my refrigerant, and I have cool air blowing now due to a short simple fix. According to their specialties listed, they would not push services I don't need. From what I understand, evaporator coils should last longer than three years, yet they wanted to install one that I didn't need. They also suggested I could get a new air handler unit. I'm wondering how they did not see a simple leak from their technicians averaging of 10 years of experience. Comfort monster wanted me to wait months for cool air and pay thousands when my second option made me pay a couple hundred for a quick fix with instant results. I really do think comfort monster missed the mark with their inspection and quote. From my experience, they rather sent someone inexperienced or trying to sell me a service I don't need. **Expensive highway robbers.** Comfort Monster charged me $500 for 15 minutes of work. My electrician had diagnosed the problem -- clogged safety pan valve. It required no parts. Their technician literally blew into the safety pan pipe, unclogging it, and left after about 10 minutes. Fo this I paid $500. Which is more than half of the average cost of this service according to Google. No parts. No difficult access. Just quick easy and done. They also tried to get me to finance this over a year, for more money. They are greedy people. **Stay away and find someone honest.** read more

On another hot July Saturday morning, my Mom's AC was not working. I turned to Yelp and the reviews for Comfort Monster looked good. My phone call to them was quickly answered, and the employee was polite and professional. I soon received a text telling me the approximate time the service person would arrive on Saturday. To my delight, the service person arrived about an hour in advance of the scheduled time. Fortunately, the repair did not take long, and the unit was pumping in that much needed cold air into Mom's house. The service person gave a good explanation of the charges, and following COVID 19 regulations maintained a proper distance and a no-contact payment method. Let's start this by saying right off the bat, Comfort Monster is 5-stars awesome!!!!! I could write a book about my previous bad-experiences (technical and sales-wise) trying to get our HVAC heat working this winter, and with both the All American and ARS companies and our 2008 ICP PGF3 model packaged HVAC unit. With the unit shutting off after a few minutes of running, and the temperature dropping to 10F and a full week of freezing temperatures, and it being Christmas (2022-3), none of them had any idea what they were doing with our ICP unit at all (I'm an Engineer with Cisco). Each of those two companies wanted either $2500 to 3K to fix the unit, or 7K+ to replace it - which was their pressure-recommendation. Well, after drudging through the schematics and the HVAC Forums and poor Yelp Reviews for HVAC-Heating and ARS, I saw Leah H's scathing Yelp-posting about ARS from 5/15/2020, and who gave a really good detailed write-up about her bad-experiences with that company, and then highly recommended Comfort Monster - and she gave details about why too. So, I went for it and called Comfort Monster for a service call, and they got me scheduled in. They then kept in constant touch via email, text and a phone call, and sent their Technician Curtis over. Curtis by comparison really listened to my description of the behavior of the unit and my observations, and he knew exactly what the problem was and went straight to a dirty flame sensor.... removed and cleaned it... check-tested (it worked), checked the pressure switch to be sure... and did a few more quick tests to be sure, and voila, unit and heat = fixed! He also explained exactly the what-why of the issue (I'm an Engineer, right, I appreciate that more than the average home owner) and we mused about what the car-salesman HVAC companies try and do. Welcome to my new BFF! In the end, the unit was fixed and put back into service on no-time, and the Comfort Monster service charge was $211(not 2.5K). I opted right there to sign up for an Annual Maintenance Service Contract ($23/m) on the spot and they dropped $40 off the bill! Oh let me tell you a story, a story of how a good paying costumer has been robbed and mistreated by his HVAC technicians. I have the yearly care plan from Comfort Monster, a couple of days after they came in and did the summer maintenance my unit shut down completely, I called them and they promptly showed up and sent a terrible 'technician", if this same guy is sent to your house you would do better taking a steel rod to your attic and banging away, but I digress. 'technician" did not fix the problem, made up some part that needed replacement and said he would be back on MONDAY. Monday rolled around and this company came in worked for some hours and said flat out, we do not know what is wrong we need to call THE GENERAL MANAGER and they left. I type this on Tuesday 3 business days in, I do so sitting in a cool 70 AC. but not from them from Raleigh Heating and Air, the company I called. read more

They did all the repairs on schedule but when the duct sealing took more time, they were highly communicative and finished the work when I needed it to be done. We had a service plan with Comfort Monster for our 17 year old unit which we knew was nearing the end. It "conveniently" happens to have an "issue" after someone comes out for service. Our unit was working completely fine until our visit on Monday. Now it won't cool below 75 degrees. We already had plans on replacing the unit but have had enough experiences where the work just seems a bit sketchy. Plus the quote for a new system install was nearly $1,200 more than 4 other companies that I had come out and give me quotes. While I never had issues with their customer services or technicians, this is one of those cases where my intuition just told me to go with someone else. read more

They tell you that you are only paying for the labor but they just roll the labor into the price of the part so they can maximize their earnings. My wife and I were fortunate enough to welcome our first child into the world this past week! However, Saturday night my wife's water broke, and as we were gathering up our things to head to the hospital, I noticed our HVAC system wasn't working. To say I didn't need additional stress on my plate would be an understatement at the time. Oh my goodness! Do not go anywhere else! The owner, Jon, noted my issues that I posted to fb with the AC unit that runs my Third floor. He immediately had his team out here the next day (today) and did the following over THREE hours: Found the unit breaker was flipped, cleaned the entire unit and coils, changed the charge, put meters on the return vent and ac vents and synched them to the furnace and AC unit, changed the flow rate, and made sure the air filters were clean. Immediately the temperature changed and two years worth of humidity started draining onto the deck where it should be (versus 70% humidity inside). I am so thankful! Thank you Jon! The Second Unit was installed around 1 year ago and was a fantastic Unit...Despite this system being highly rated, it was not operating like it should. This was a very frustrating problem that was difficult to diagnose, and took many months to finally figure out. Jeff P. was the Rep. that sold me the system and he was with me every step of the way. No matter how many difficulties we had with the system, he was always there to ensure that I would be satisfied in the end. He went above and beyond, making numerous house calls, in order to ensure my satisfaction. Jeff gave me the green light to call anytime with any problems, and when I did, he always responded and came out ASAP. Most recently, Jordan came out and diagnosed what turned out to be one of the main issues with my system. Jordan went above and beyond as well and would not leave until he had properly diagnosed and ensured that everything was working perfectly with it. Although it was a frustrating endeavor (I wanted my new system working perfectly from the beginning), the staff at Comfort Monster (namely Jeff P. and Jordan) never stopped doing everything possible to get my system up and running perfectly. I scheduled a routine system check before the summer heat got too unbearable, so I wasn't expecting any intimidating findings since nothing was wrong. I could tell Brian was not in the business to push parts just to make a commission or sell me something I did not need. He performed the system check, went over the results and emailed me them as well. He did not pressure me into any contracts, scheduled visits or anything I didn't ask for. Comfort Monster was the 4th HVAC company that we called to diagnose the AC problem we were having. First 3 companies were too busy trying to sell us a new HVAC system instead of figuring out why our 4 year old AC was not working properly all of sudden. The Comfort Monster's technicians were absolutely professional, polite, found a leak within 15 minutes on their first visit. We were so impressed, we signed up for a Service Contract the same day! When our AC problem still persisted, CM staffs were very helpful and sent us their technicians to properly diagnose the problem and they surely figured out the problem and fixed it without charging us any extra fees for multiple visits.
