Well let me start off by saying never ever use April Estate... The first part they come in and see if you have enough stuff to sell to meet the quota of guaranteed $1500. The woman was very nice and she thought I would have no problem selling $1500 and more. The sales people or lack there of I did not have a good feeling from the beginning but I gave the benefit of the doubt. The guy hardly talked or smiled how are you supposed to sell items in People's homes when you don't even smile or talk. His name was...either Eric or Richie There was an old man and the younger one the younger one was the salesman .The woman Sherry you could hardly even hear her voice my dogs for three days hated the two of them That make you wonder? If my dogs do not approve you're probably not all that good. So I never met the quota I ended up having to owe $31 I have a house full of beautiful things and the woman Sheri said oh everybody thought your house is beautiful but... And the younger guy Erica , Richie had 0 personality how are you going to sell things when you don't talk or smile really? Also they do not take credit cards welcome to 2019 please and the final kicker of it all somebody stole my husbands really good phone charger she had nothing to say about it really.... aren't you people supposed to be walking around with the public making sure things don't go missing so needless to say there's not a grade low enough to give these people... horrible service horrible horrible horrible I am truly disappointed.. I cannot stress enough what a mistake it was for us to hire April's estate sales to conduct our sale in 8/18 - I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ANYONE! They're not trustworthy - they initially send their employee, Courtney, to review your items, she tells you what you want to hear but they do not remotely deliver. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL ESTABLISHMENT. Owner, David, is rude and nasty. Once you sign their contract by telling you what you want to hear, they treat your items, your home, and you, the homeowner, with irreverence. At the close of our 2 day sale that was attended by approx 20 people because of their shoddy marketing skills, many of my items were missing and/or broken. I found many broken pieces of my items hidden underneath and behind other items. Their staging was horrific. I was told a jewelry case would be provided me, but had to ask for one mere minutes before the sale was to begin & I had to help set it up. I took photos of my items and emailed them to David, the owner of April's, for marketing purposes; their employee Courtney took photos of boxes filled with my belongings upon our initial consult and did not inform me those were the photos that would be used for marketing purposes. As we have a 4200 sq ft home we were still in the midst of sorting through our boxed items as we are moving/downsizing - the photos were hardly a true reflection of what we were selling. Overall it was a HORRIBLE experience. April's estate sales IS NOT ACCREDITED WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, and it was only after our sale that I read the reviews posted on the BBB about this establishment which were absolutely terrible! Not researching them enough was my mistake. I thought I had done my due diligence with researching these people, but had I delved a bit deeper I would have NEVER HIRED THEM. They take their fee, leave your home a disaster, you're lucky if you make any profit because not only do they NOT keep a list of what was sold and the price it was sold for, but they price your items for pennies on the dollar (which is probably why the customers who frequent their sales like attending them). They simply do not care about the homeowner or their possessions. Quite frankly I'm puzzled as to how they're still in business. In my opinion they should lose their license - VERY DISHONORABLE ESTABLISHMENT. HOMEOWNERS BEWARE! *Update: If anyone would like to know the caliber and character of owner/operator David G. of April's Estate Sales, I suggest you read through his comments and responses ... they are a very good indication of who and what he is. Apparently, David of April's Estate Sales is not only completely untrustworthy, but teaches those in his employ to use the same indecent business tactics and practices to take full advantage of unsuspecting, vulnerable homeowners. It would seem to me a reputable company would do their best to work with and for the homeowner to the best of their ability, especially during the process of moving/downsizing which is very stressful and traumatic in and of itself. Not this guy. His main concern and that of his employees seems to be getting homeowners to sign his contract by telling them anything and everything they want to hear, but delivering on none of it. HIRING APRILS WAS A BIG MISTAKE. I'm quite baffled that April's Estate Sales is still in business. In my opinion they should be investigated sooner than later for questionable/fraudulent business practices. Update: It's become very clear that David G., owner/operator of April's Estate Sales has been receiving many bad reviews from homeowners that hired them to run their estate sale and wish they hadn't. As a result, David is calling every deserved bad review he's receiving a "fake" review. These ARE NOT fake reviews. David of April's constantly refers to his years in business. What David neglects to mention is that when the now deceased April was the owner/operator of this establishment. Unfortunately, since April's passing this establishment has declined dramatically. David also states in his comment that they're one of the top establishments for estate sales in NJ. If that were true, why do they have an overall rating of 2 stars on google, and why is Aprils NOT ACCREDITED WITH THE BBB? No one likes bad reviews, so I can understand why David is upset and continues responding by calling the many sub-par reviews he's receiving "fake." I can only speak for myself by saying there is absolutely nothing "fake" about my review. It was an absolutely horrific experience, and unfortunately, one we will not soon forget. Just sold our house and did an estate sale thru April's. Could not have been happier with the results. Ritchie and his crew came in, did an incredible job setting up and pricing our items and made sure all our questions were answered. Made us feel very comfortable and, bottom line, sold over 90 % of what we had for sale at prices we were happy with. If I ever had to do it again, we would use April's. read more

DON'T HIRE THEM! I live in NC, and contacted April's Estates to conduct an estate sale in NJ. Jill came out to take pictures, and emailed a copy of the contract to me. I had several questions about the contract; namely, why, if I cancel the sale I am penalized $1,000, yet if they cancel there is no penalty. The section on their fees was blank. There is a minimum amount, under which I would have to pay them. That was blank as well. I sent an email with my questions, and called twice, but no one bothered to answer my email or return my calls. I guess they didn't like the fact that I wouldn't sign a blank contract. I hired Made in the Shade to conduct the estate sale, and Sheri Arnold did a fantastic job!!! read more

I have never experienced an estate sale and had no idea how beneficial they can be when you are selling your home and have massive items to sell I was in a panic and did not know where to turn .I contacted April's Estate and Tag Sales and within two days everything was set up ,priced and signs were put out all over the neighborhood .Rich and Jill were so professional ,accommodating and moved more items then I ever could They are extremely honest and protect areas of your home where you don't want people to be in .I highly recommend this company . read more

I would say that clearly the people giving good reviews are the ones in their good graces, and get to purchase items in advance or get preference in line on the morning of the sales. Now we all know that April has passed away. Now lets all be honest here. SHE WAS A THEIF!! She removed valuable items from the sale to sell off-site on her own, Including Diamonds and Gold!!! She stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from all of these poor Families at their worst time. When they were grieving. And I'm curious, how they can provide her services to these poor people with what is left in the home being overpriced. No one wants to buy! I understand the goal is to bring as much $ as possible to the Estate, but if only 25% of the inventory is sold, that leaves a lot for the responsible party to still remove from the home. And I am pretty sure that a Liquidation Companies equal goal is to move as much inventory as possible from the Estate! What a shame. This company should be put out of business. I see some incorrect reviews so I am inclined to write as I've bought at Aprils Estate Sales in the past and just this past week. They give out numbers at 8:30 but quite compassionately they respect the list that people make outside who got there earlier. A good extreme example of this is this.Two years ago we saw a set of China for sale that we wanted ever since we were young.We got up and got to the house at 3:30 in the morning!! Basically in the middle of the night. We started a list and put it on our car window... Just 20 minutes later a car rolled up and that was the second person.. We sat there for yes..6 hrs. This list is not made "for they're friends" you just have to get there early.Once we went to another sale at a rediculous hour and the first person on the list was in her car in her pyjamas. Anyway...In my experience these guys are great.They are not out to burn you with the prices and even when they declined an offer they were polite and don't hurt your feelings. Last weekend my wife and I bought two heavy cast iron benches and the gentleman there happily lifted one end of that heavy damn thing to put it in our car..both times. A year ago we bought a rug at a sale of they'res..and realized it was too heavy to move.And the lovely bald guy that we've seen working some of they're sales helped us get it in the car.And that thing was so heavy we could not get it out of our car for 2 weeks. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. They sold nearly all my belongings, valuable furniture and rugs for pennies of what they estimated. They did not protect Not For Sale areas and as a result my memory cards with years of irreplaceable photos are gone. I found the photo bin from a file clearly taped off before I left as Not For Sale out on a table marked for sale when I returned. They sold food and my dog's meds from cabinets marked clearly NOT FOR SALE..I can't even list all that was wrong with this company. I will be pursuing legal action. We did not have the luxury of completely moving from our home before the sale, we had to leave some things until we moved out of the house. We were promised they would be safe. I called Jill soon after the sudden loss of my mom, and we only had a few months to schedule the sale before my father was losing the home to foreclosure. Prior to my mom's death we had talked about having a sale, but she was embarrassed about what people would think because it had become too much for them to take care of. They had lived there for 50 years and had accumulated a lifetime of stuff. After Jill's team came in and spent a few days organizing, they brought dignity to the sale. My family and I all felt that it was something my mom would have been proud of. We are all sad to be losing the home and even more to have lost our mom, but it would have been much worse if we just walked away from everything inside the home. We are so glad that Jill helped to make that a possibility for us, and took all the stress out of it. I highly recommend them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My review is the same as Lisa D's. We used them for a big estate sale. We had many similar problems as Lisa D. stated. There were issues that were not handled professionally. When we tried to voice our concerns to the owner, he was extremely defensive, would not even allow me to speak, but instead yelled at me...the customer! I am a very reasonable person, but this owner could not give the respect to a customer who was trying voice concerns. As a professional running a business...you need to be able to hear the good feedback with the bad feedback...and not attack the customer giving the bad feedback. I was hoping they would be reasonable enough to at least listen...but that is not the case! I would NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone! A very unprofessional company they sent a woman out to the house to make sure there was enough stuff to sell to make money. She was very nice and a good sales person . Then days before the sale they came out with 3 people who were horrible, the staging was horrible and the one guy was in n out smoking they had no personality and these are the same people that came for the sale. We were told they had a great following and it would be easy to make money on the stuff we had to sell .. we ended up giving them 31 bucks because they have a 1500 min. A week later I had my own sale and sold everything not sure why the company I hired could not do this . During the sale some stole my charger for my phone we were under the understanding they were with the people when walking around but obviously they didn't. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GYPSY SCAM ARTIST I attended my first and only estate sale with these people only to find that they were a complete scam. After being the first to arrive at the doorstep of the residence in Morristown NJ on 11/10/17. A male stated that he was first and needed a ticket for his wife, obliging them on account that they were parked first and let them take numbers 1 and 2, while I took 3. The couple were quiet and a bit familiar with the father and daughter team who were working the sale. As i entered the home, I ironically went directly to the room with 4 of the items that I listed to buy. Being in the room alone, I began to take the tags of 3 large items that could not be carried in hand. As I walked to the living room, I told the attendant that I am purchasing these items in which I has tags for and was told that they had already been sold. Not understanding how when i was the only person in the room I explained and was told that the couple already "Asked" about these items. I explained that I was the only person in the room. The father was completely dismissive and and said that the couple were first. I when reiterated that they were nowhere to be found as they completely swept the house of all items they wanted. He walked away from the conversation as I then spoke with his daughter who was equally as dismissive and short with me. As I spoke with her the the male half of the team caused a diversion and inserted his view as to why these items belong to them, while the wife collected items from a list that was prewritten. I was disgusted and upset and walked out. After gathering myself I went back in only to find that this was a complete dog and pony show. I then sat in the car and decided to call the company. An unknown male was first to answer the phone. After explaining the situation and asking what was the policy on sales, I was told that Dave the owner would help me. Stay away at all costs. Jill came out and excitedly told me we needed a three day sale and was SO excited about our house contents. Scheduled a Friday, Sat and Sunday sale. They get a guaranteed minimum. They had a poor turnout Friday, desperately started selling for "pennies on the dollar " ( quote from Dave, the owner ) towards the end of Saturday and refused to do the Sunday sale. Stated Friday's poor showing hurt THEM. Told me nothing was worth over $100 in my house and took their $1500 and ran...... I made $317!! They undersold everything and blamed me. BTW... ask for an accounting of what they sold and for how much..... my mistake.... I should have insisted on this. Mink coat sold, 3 TV's, ivory jewelry, china, crystal, leather couch, furniture, violin, guitars, airsoft and painball guns, train sets, freezer, garage emptied, patio sets gone..... and I made a whopping $317! Don't bother getting there early. They advertise numbers being handed out at 830am but already have a list of friends and dealers ahead of you. I went there early to make sure to get a low number. I ended up being 4th in line to go in , so I thought. Several people arrived after me and went to the front of the line and were handed numbers by name saying they emailed them. Both there website and the sign on the door said nothing about emailing your name in early. I contacted April's about this issue and after a few back and forth emails was told at first they don't do that kind of thing. I was told the people who went to the front of the line arrived at 530am and started a list and put it on their windshield. I was also told they stayed with their car until 830am. I watched them arrive after me and I got there at 810am They seem to know way too much about these people and the time they arrived. Either make good friends with them or bring a pen and paper and start your own list. read more
