Do you and your bridal party enjoy being stressed out, talked to condescendingly over the phone, being given the run around and wondering if your dress will be ready in time for the big day? If so, have I got the place for you! While myself and the majority of my bridesmaids are located in Texas, several of my girls are out of state - including my Maid of Honor in NY. My maid of honor opted to buy her gown from Apropos in Albany for convenience. The gown was ordered as the same time as the rest of the bridesmaids' in August. However, come mid-October all of my bridesmaids EXCEPT the one from Apropos are delivered and my maid of honor's dress is nowhere to be found. After advising her to call and check on the dress, my maid of honor was given the run around. Calls were either not taken, messages not returned, and Apropos was all around impossible to get a hold of. Finally, I managed to get a hold of the shop - probably because they didn't have my number on file. I was advised by a woman that she would contact the purchaser (the owner) and call back. Yeah, no call back. My maid of honor got in touch and found out the dress wasn't due to ship until December 1. WHAT? In what world does a dress ordered in August for a December 18 wedding not ship until the 1st? I called right away and got in touch with the owner who proceeded to berate me and raise her voice to me. She insisted that I just didn't understand how bridesmaids dress ordering worked, that these weren't off the rack dresses - they were made to order. As if with 7 total bridesmaids and my own gown I had no idea that these weren't stock items. When I clarified that yes, I understood the dress needed to be made but that my other girls had ordered at the same time and all received their gowns from the local shop in Texas she became defensive. She insisted that because of my maid of honor's size the dress had to be further customized. Never mind that my bridesmaids are all shapes and sizes and a similarly sized bridesmaid had received her order. When I told her, given the negative reviews on Yelp, Google, and The Knot that I was not entirely trusting when she said 'It'll be here!' she told me that the other frantic brides and bridesmaids who left reviews were 'crazy'. I'm not kidding. I'm almost certain that my maid of honor's dress was not even ordered until she called to check on it. Don't go here. I would strongly advise not going to Apropos. They are the most unorganized business I've ever seen. My wedding was 8/13/16, and we ordered bridesmaid dresses in February. All paid for when we ordered except one, which was paid 3 days later. I get a call from the owner in April telling me the dresses needed to be paid for. So I said no, they were paid for when we ordered them. They were never ordered but she wouldnt admit that. So the dresses were ordered 4 months before my wedding. She said they'd be in end of June/early July. So I called back The last week of June to get an update.... I was told any day now. I can't tell you how many times they told me "any day now." Now my wedding is a month away and I can't get anyone to tell me where the heck the dresses are. Only one came in at this point. After calling every week for an update on the others its 11 days before my wedding and nobody knows where they are. I finally get an update and they need to be overnighted so they would get here 3 days before the wedding. How do you schedule alterations for 3 girls the week of the wedding who all live in different cities? Such an awful experience! And the alterations looked like a 4 yr old did them. My bridesmaids were pissed. The owner could care less about customers. All they did was was tell me how great everything was going to be and that there was no need to worry while ignoring all the bullshit they put me through. No need to worry when it's 11 days before my wedding and I don't know if 3 of my bridesmaid dresses are going to be in or not????? Would love to leave a zero! Not sure where to start. Very unorganized store. Terrible customer service, even worse management. The owner is dishonest and condescending. We ordered my daughter's prom dress on 2/5 paid the 50% deposit and were told we'd get a call when it arrived. After 11 weeks we called to check and guess what they were just taking it of the box, how lucky. We arrived to pick it up and after waiting 30 minutes for them to find it, were told they don't do fittings or alterations we would need to go elsewhere and were given a phone number. We get the dress home only to find out the dress is damaged, with holes and make up stains. Hems had hair and sequins and strings from other dresses, the hooks were missing and it was a 10. My daughter is a 4. I called many times before having to drive there. The owner never seems to be in the store when you call but is mysteriously there when you walk in. I believe we were given the floor sample as it was no longer available to try on. The owner told us that the company always sends the dresses trashed it's not her fault. We requested a new dress be ordered in her correct size. She proceeded to tell us that my daughter is too fat for that size and it wouldnt fit. She finally agreed and kept the damaged dress. We waited for more than another week being told any day any day, that is when the phone wasn't busy. I finally drove there to see the phone being left of the hook to stop it from ringing. I find the customer in front of me irrate over the situation with their dress. We demanded to see the order receipt or a tracking number and we were told they don't exist. Clearly this woman never ordered nor did she ever plan to order my daughter's dress. We made a scene and got a refund, when she again told me my daughter is too fat for a small dress. We drove immediately to another shop tried the dress on she's between a 2-4 ordered it, paid less and it arrived in perfect condition 3 days later. Please do not go here. Owner Sindi is not being "bullied" as she claims. She is being called out for what she has done to tarnish peoples' wedding experiences. 1- First, just 3 months before the wedding she refused to let me come in for 10 minutes to show my out-of-town in-laws my dress that was supposed to be in. After back and forth, she granted me an appointment. When that day came she made us wait over an hour to try on a dress despite making an appointment. After going up to see how much longer it would be (three times), I walked out in tears. My protective in-laws then spoke to her and she let me in and gave me the sample dress to try on. It literally took 5 minutes to show them the dress. And that's all I wanted to do. Who knows if my actual dress was there or not? I never got to see it. I should mention that I don't actually know if I got the sample dress or a new dress in the end. She couldn't show me the dress three months beforehand, and my size and the sample size were the same, so.... 2- When coming in a couple weeks later to do measurements for alterations, she haphazardly threw pins in my dress and my bridesmaids' dresses without actually measuring (and while badmouthing her employees.) Later the dresses would prove to be ill-fitting- and if you want alterations on the alterations you're essentially out of luck. Sindi insists on beginning the first round of alterations just mere weeks before the wedding date. Bridesmaid A wasn't able to pick up her dress until the day before the wedding because the first set of alterations were bad. Bridesmaid B was given a completely different gown than what she ordered. Sindi would claim that it was the dress that we ordered and that it looked fabulous with all the other bridesmaids dresses (lies.) Bridesmaid B eventually got the right dress 2 days before the wedding. By the way- Bridesmaid B's dress strap broke just after the ceremony. These are just the top two issues I've had with Sindi and Apropos. It's taken me 2 years to write this because it had been too upsetting to look back on. Please take my word for it- don't take your chances that you may have a good experience here. The stress about worrying if everything will be taken care is not worth it. YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR DRESS ON TIME, IF AT ALL!!! Giving Apropos even 1 star, kills me! The owner of this store, Sindi Saita is very deceitful and denies everything she says. This is of course after she has your money and has given the you nothing in return, or if she has given you anything, it is much later than promised! My cousin is getting married March 17th and here it is March 2nd and still no dresses for 9 bridesmaids! We paid her in August and they were supposed to be ordered at that point. She has given us so many different dates that our dresses were supposed to arrive and of course they never did. We caught her in so many lies and have them all recorded. When asked for a tracking number she told us she had to get it and would call us back. Then she stated the tracking numbers we were asking for did not exist and it was impossible to track dresses. Finally, when we showed up demanding our money back, she gave us a tracking number. We were not at all surprised to discover that they had not even been shipped as of that date, March 1st! She refuses to give us our money back and now we are going to Yvonne's in Latham because they have helped others in the past that had had the same experiences with Apropos, and Yvonne and her staff actually knows how to get things done and how to work with people! Sindi had the nerve to tell me she has "had enough" because we were calling frequently, either asking for our dresses, our money back, or a tracking number and complaining. If anything, WE have had enough. Eight of us paid her $124.19 each and one girl paid $248.38, which we are all walking away from. Her excuse...she does not make the dresses or ship them. Really?! DO NOT USE APROPOS! My best friend decided to use apropos for her wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses. The wedding dress was ordered in November 2015 and was to be in April 2016. The bridesmaid dresses were ordered in March 2016 to be here in June 2016. The wedding is in 5 days and the wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses are no where to be found. We called multiple times and the owner Cindy continued to ignore phone calls, told us to leave messages she would never return and then when she spoke with us told us the dresses would be in the next week and the next week, continuously giving us the run around! Imagine having your wedding day with the dresses no where to be found and not to mention the fact at least half of the bridal party needing to alter the dresses to fit correctly! It is now 5 days until the wedding and our dresses are not here. We called again and again with a response of "they have shipped they will be in this day and etc." each time the dresses not being in. Then to make matters worse she tried to blame the issue on our wedding party claiming it was our fault when we have no control on ordering the dresses because that's HER job not OUR job. We put our trust in the wrong place and now we have a stressed out bride and pissed off bridesmaids. If you are planning your special day save yourself the stress, this is a terrible business and the news should pick up on the corruption of the business. I have had numerous experiences shopping at Apropos, both when they were out in Amsterdam and now that they are in their new location. They have ALWAYS demonstrated the utmost professionalism. They offer a tremendous number of styles; their prices are fair and reasonable; their alterations are beyond compare and free when you purchase your dress there, which easily makes them the best value in the area; and they work hard to ensure excellent customer service. They also dye shoes for free not only when you purchase them but will dye them black after your event so you can wear them again. The staff is knowledgeable, honest, and caring. She asked about the dress and the cruise dinner. She even knew the occasions of which the dress was worn at the time. It was not only prom but a formal dinner gown on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Her memory blew me away. I had no idea out of the thousands of girls she meets each year that she would remember her experience with me. Last prom season I saw the dedication and the determination of Sindi Saita to make each girls wish come true. So many dresses came in and left in one prom season. I'll just start by saying if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The WORST run business I have ever been into. I ordered a bridesmaid dress in March for a wedding this weekend and the dress still hasn't come in. I came in last week, because no one ever returns a phone call here, and was told by the owner that my dress was being overnighted on Tuesday. That if I came back on Wednesday, between 3:30-4:00, my dress would be here. I got here at 3:45 and shockingly, NO dress. When I asked the owner if she even ordered the dress she went into panic mode and accused me of harassing her. Then went to call the police to have me escorted out of here. I truly wish she did call the police because I would love for them to know what a thief she is. My only regret is that I didn't write this years ago - This place is AWFUL. I went here before my wedding with my bridesmaid and the owner Sindi was SO SO SO SO RUDE and thank god we never bought anything from there. Apropos has been a great supporter of the Northeast Kidney Foundation (NFK) for the last three years. I met the owner and her staff when I was told that I would be outfitted by Apropos for an upcoming fundraising fashion show for the NKF. My experience with the staff and the owner alike was wonderful. They were knowledgeable about the dresses, the shoes and accessories in the store and they knew what dress would be perfect for my body type as well as for the occasion. I found the lovely ladies to be pleasant and very professional. I have nothing but positive comments for Apropos and I look forward to working with them in the future. I purchased my mother of the groom dress at Apropos. At every step of the process, I felt my satisfaction as a customer was important to Sindy, the owner. I was very pleasantly surprised that every time she saw me, she immediately recognized me and remembered what I was shopping for, and later, what I had purchased. When the manufacturer sent the wrong dress, she was on top of the situation immediately, and made sure that on the day of my son's wedding, I was wearing the dress I wanted, altered the way I needed. I'd give it no stars if I could, prom dress "came in" a week before prom in the wrong size it was the same one we had tried on 2 months before as the store model was no longer on the rack. The alterations were even worse than I could've imagined. Sewn in places with the extra fabric never being cut off. Still looked too big afterwards but they claimed there was no time to fix it. I went prom shopping in mid March of 2019 and prom was in about mid May. We picked out a dress there and tried it on- not an easy task considering the dresses packed so tightly together that you can barely see the selection and the disorganized dressing rooms. We ordered and paid for the dress that day and she assured us that it would be in about 2 weeks later. 3 weeks passed and my mom had me call. She answered the phone, left for about 10 minutes (which I now realize was probably an attempt to get me to hang up) and then came back. She said she checked the order and that it would be in by Monday. Another two weeks passed, prom is nearing and I'm worried sick that I won't have time to get my dress altered or even in by the time that prom comes around. We call and she says again that the dress isn't ready yet and hasn't come in yet. Finally we get a call saying that the dress is in. Prom is next week and we don't have time to get it altered. Thankfully my grandma is very skilled with sewing and such, but if she weren't my entire prom would've been ruined. I have read the other horror stories on here and mine barely compares to them, with waiting over 6 months for dresses but I hope that people check yelp and other websites before they shop here so that they can avoid a stressful prom. read more

Very unprofessional, my daughters prom dress was ordered in a size 14 she wears an 8 then i had to to have it altered because it was to big

Wish I could give ZERO stars. Came in at 2:40pm for a 3pm appointment. Was told to wait. No problem. We waited till 2:55pm, then asked if we could start trying on dresses. They then told us, "um what time is it?" We said oh "five to 3", they replied with "yea, you're appointment is at 3pm, right?" With quite possibly the nastiest attitude I've experienced. We promptly left, without even a backward glance. Do not shop here!! NO professionalism on what should be a really happy time! read more
