L11. Shrimp Mix Vegetables Oyster Sauce with Egg Roll Luncheon Special
    Karla M.

I was hungry and wanted a cheap, delicious meal so obviously I ended up at Apsara. I struggled to find something on the menu, not because nothing stood out to me but on the contrary, everything caught my attention. I ended up going with the a beef curry, chicken wings and fried rice all for about $9. The beef was really good with the veggies being very fresh and the curry was sweet and flavorful. The rice was also good, though it could use some more veggies. Lastly, the chicken wings were a bit dry and small but still crispy and tasty. My friend had the beef loc lac and enjoyed his meal. Our server was very attentive and efficient. The inside is clean, and there are plenty of large booths. Parking can be tough if it's busy since it's a shared small lot but there is a lot of free street parking available.

When your friend tells you they've never been to Apsara it makes lunch choices that much easier. I love that Hope St has so many great dining options - apsara is one of many but a stand out for sure in terms of deliciousness. Starter with shrimp nime chow and the lort appetizer - love a good dip dip! I really appreciate the amount of peanuts and sauce with the nime chow cause I tend to hog it but there was plentyyyyy for both of us. For my main I got the lunch special Hunan Chicken , egg roll and plain fried rice. This is potentially my fav plain fried rice. It's not CRUNCHY but has like a nice little texture from the frying part and it's flavorful. The chicken was tender and tasty. I wish the broccoli was steamed a bit more but otherwise it was perfect. We were told to pick an open table when we got there, no wait to sit. We were served quickly and the waitress was friendly. It's pretty straight forward. You're there for the food. I love that it's been around forever and still has that hole in the wall feel to it. I think the artwork has changed but not much and they have old menus with old prices and just a sharpie note telling you to add .25 or more to everything.

Seems to be family owned, not associated with the one on Public Street. The service was quick and attentive. Family friendly environment. BYOB. Tried the Chicken with Angel Hair. Similar to a Lo Mein. Delicious, seasoned with fresh garlic. Crispy Chicken Wings, not to be confused with the normal wings. These were flavorful and crisped to perfection. Fried Ravioli (fried dumpling) Chicken Nime Chow, a healthy alternative to an egg roll. Overall this is a place worth trying, if you live close order take out. Down fall is parking, it can be a little hard on a Friday night

    Thai pad see-ew noodle

I ordered from Apsara Palace through DoorDash on a Thursday for lunch. The order was prepared quickly and delivered to me while it was still hot. The menu has a lot of Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine options. Since Pad see-ew is usually my go-to entree, I had the Thai pad see-ew noodle. It is Wide Flat Rice Noodle w/ Chinese Broccoli, Onion, Peapod, Carrot, and American Broccoli with a choice of protein. I had it with shrimp. This dish was packed with flavor and the portion was enough for 2 servings. Usually this noodles are more brown, but it looked a little orange to me. It could be different sauces. Either way, it was really good.

It had been several years since I ate Apsara's food. This was our takeout meal on Christmas Eve, and it was worth the drive in from the East Bay to pick it up! I forgot how delicious their Lo Mein is. My wife had the beef loc lok, which she loved, and moo shu. Our kid (13yo) who doesn't like anything other than chicken patties and pizza also really liked the chicken fingers (first time from a Chinese food restaurant that he ate them all). The only thing keeping it from a 5-star review is that my favorite Chinese food dish is fried dumplings, and Apsara uses the thin style dough. The flavors are great, but I just prefer the texture of the thicker dough.

Source: https://apsaraasianri.com The title of the dance only performed in the presence of  the king of Cambodia, at the royal palace. To dance the Aspara for the king the dancer must be considered most beautiful. The oriental food served at Aspara Asian Restaurant is not the same kind as one finds in most "chinese restaurants",  where it has been chained to suit american taste. Here we prepare some of the favorite dishes found in the homes of Cambodian, Thailand, Vietnam and China -unchanged. Having been to South East Asia myself - I can say their description is somewhat accurate. I do feel like the food served at the restaurant still caters to the American palate which has more sweet, fried and processed foods. My favorite things to get here are the Beef Teriyaki, spring rolls and the Eggplant in Satay Sauce. Unfortunately, I didn't get the Eggplant dish, but it's absolutely AMAAAAZING. It's sweet, spicy, roasted Eggplant with some char to it. I've ordered it dozens of times and never get tired of it. The staff are pleasant, the dining room is somewhat spacious, but the parking is tight because it is shared amongst a laundromat and nail salon. One pro tip is to always, always confirm your order before you leave. I've had missing items many times and it's such a bummer. They do refund your money when they make a mistake, but it's still disappointing. SE Asian food is one of my favorite cuisines, thus the critical review and 3 stars. I'll be coming back and you should too! -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT

I have been here so many times. Basically a regular. Their menu is expansive and their prices are great! I am rarely disappointed when I eat at this spot. Here is my recent order: 1) the Thai spring roll- come in 4 pieces and it's kind of hard to not eat more 2) the Cambodian spring roll- they are thinner than the Thai version but comes with 6 pieces- def a food starter! Super crispy and delish 3) pineapple fried rice- it's not overbearing with the flavors and is a great side dish. Some people eat it as a meal on its own but I think since it's light on flavor, adding 1 more item would help 4) the green curry- I think this one is just ok. And it's probably because I'm biased since nothing so far compares to my moms green curry lol 5) what I forgot to take a pic of for some odd reason is the "pad see ew" noodles with tofu- spicy! It's my go to and my favorite thing on the entire menu! You got to try it!

On web for Providence Hope Street--several pictures of what are called spring rolls. Be careful!

They do have a menu - takeout or dine in (few tables but the space is small) and they also have cafeteria style prepared foods that you can peruse. Located on Reservoir near the Cranston line, there is a small parking lot next to the storefront and some street parking as well. I called in an order for Chicken Mee Ka Tang (Cantonese Noodles), Beef Pho, Cold Cut banh mi, Lort (Cambodian eggrolls) and a Vietnamese coffee for the mister. When we got there I was enticed by the offerings and got a small container of the braised pork and eggs and stuffed bitter melon (don't knock it people, it is an acquired taste, lol). We really enjoyed everything we had but our faves were the banh mi (great flavor and didn't skimp on the meats at all!) and the Mee Ka Tang - it did have a bit more gravy than I'm used to but really great flavors - add a little bit of chili oil or sriracha and chefs kiss! The pork and eggs were a tad bit too sweet and pork was tougher than I'd like other than that, everything was delicious. Service was super quick and food was ready as promised. We didn't have to wait for it at all which I can appreciate! Looking forward to returning to this mom and pop shop!! Can't wait to come back!

They tasted like sticky wings, but then hit with the fresh ginger strips, onions, and jalapeño. When we went in is was an 80 degree day and the A/C was not working. They gave us a kettle of hot tea and I ordered a bowl...lol...I was obviously sweating. Although it was very hot, the experience was great. I would definitely go back, maybe in the winter next time.

I had done some research and knew it was a small space so I was praying there would be enough open tables. When we talked in, there were about 3 tables open. It took a bit to get seated since the host/ server was busy getting together online orders and bringing out food to other customers. But after a couple minutes, we were allowed to pick our own table. They have 3 two person tables to the left, on an elevated platform. To the far front of the space, there were two booths which could easily fit 4 people each. To the right there were 3 tables for 4-5 people each. We went with the bigger table, but moved after a couple minutes to another table for a more private setting. For an appetizer, we put in an order of crab rangoons. As my entrée, I ordered the Khao Soi with seafood and my friend ordered the beef salad which comes with sticky rice. The crab rangoons came out after about 10 minutes. They looked crispy, and were wrapped in a cute, round way. The filling wasn't as creamy as I wish it would be, but it did taste a bit healthier than regular Chinese take out. The entress came out after about another 10 minutes. My Khao Soi came out with a big bowl, with some lime and peanuts on the side. I asked for more lime and cilantro on the side. The broth was a very vibrant color, creamy, sweet, a little tangy from the lime, and because of the cilantro had a fresh and clean flavor. I loved the combination of all the flavors, and it reminded me of a curry. The noodles were soft, but not falling apart and there was a good amount of it. There was plenty of seafood including calamari, shrimp, and mussels. The calamari was a little tough but the other items were good. I loved the crispy shallots on top as they provided an additional sweet but savory element. I finished the entire thing. My friend's salad was good. It was simple in that it was salads and herbs with minced meat but it tasted good. The sticky rice came in a ball wrapped in aluminum foil, and then put into their authentic little basket so it was full to pull apart. They do have a dessert menu and we were offered some, but I had no space. It seemed like the server was handling a lot at once so kudos to him and the small but mighty team in the back cooking everything up. I would be interested in trying other items on their menu.

At first glance, you don't see much from Elmwood Ave, but veer to the right and everything opens up on the left, with a parking lot in the back. I wanted to take the opportunity to try some Cambodian food, so after some quick research, I opted for Beef Lok Lak, which happened to be one of the lunch combos. I chose fried rice and nime chow for my lunch options and settled back to wait for my feast. They bring you a complementary pot of hot tea, which I enjoyed. I believe it was a straightforward unsweetened black tea. Perfect for me. Before long the rangoons arrived. I literally said "wow" when the runner set my plate down. Beautiful golden brown, small bubbles visible all over the outside, promising crispy goodness. And it delivered. What I didn't expect what the slight chewiness to the wrapper that enhanced the experience. The filling was super creamy and delicious, but I prefer my rangoons with scallions as well. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. Then my lunch came. The beef was perfectly cooked, the dressing tangy and peppery. The nime chow was herby and super fresh as it should be. And the rice had this extra depth of flavor that made me think of tomato paste? A lovely addition the dish. I had a great meal here and the rangoons are definitely worth having!
