Let me start with: my kid has a peanut allergy. We didn't order anything that had peanuts, but they made sure nothing did. The simple sushi (spicy salmon roll and mango roll) were, as stated, simple. But they were very pleasant. The Holy Basil Chicken was very tasty. On medium heat we had to add extra chili sauce, but was very flavorful. I was most impressed with the Tuna Pizza "maki". That term is used in a rather loose sense, but in a good way. It was basically rice flattened into a disc, fried into mochi texture then cut into triangular slices that were each topped with spicy tuna and sauce with a thin slice of jalapeño. A few days ago we took two friends for dinner to Lims - their first time. It is one of our go-to local restaurants; one in which conversation is easy and the tables well-spaced. As per usual we shared the dishes: garlic string beans, scallion pancakes (both delicious), steamed shumai (I think I preferred the fried version), and tiki udon with chicken. My husband and I were walking around Providence looking for a sushi spot . This restaurant popped up on Yelp. With seeing positive reviews we decided to give it a try . From the moment we stepped in the door we could tell we were in for a great meal . The service was great and I noticed how they greeted their regulars and knew their go to orders . A great sign that both the food and staff are great. They have a dining room , patio seating and a sushi bar . We decided to sit at the sushi bar . I ordered a lychee martini that was delicious. We ordered Kimchi fried rice ( we ended up taking it home for left overs. ) The Sweet potato maki was warm and crispy . The fried gyoza was also a great appetizer crispy and full of flavor . I also really enjoy miso soup with my sushi and they had an excellent miso soup . Our sushi came relatively quick, especially since they just needed to hand it over from their sushi station . It was very fresh and had a great ratio of fish to rice. I have never eaten so much sushi in one sitting I was beyond full and satisfied. The spicy salmon mania was good as well as fresh I have no complaints about this place at all. Ear made my roll and he always double and triple checks that everything is fine he has great customer service. This is a Japanese ambiance it's always relaxing and comfortable here. The restaurant is really beautiful inside and the staff are really accommodating. I was able to call and make a reservation the same day for Saturday evening. The sushi rolls are fresh and one of the rolls had great flavors with cilantro incorporated in it. The Pad Thai with shrimp is probably the best I've had in New England. It had a good amount of protein with strong flavor absorbed in the noodles. The Khao Soi was a special and the curry was amazing. The egg noodles had great flavors with the curry and fried noodles provided a satisfying crunch. I look forward to coming back whenever I'm in Providence. read more

Excellent sushi! We tried a few rolls for takeout and they were delicious! The restaurant was cute inside; there was plenty of seating so hopefully any wait time would be pretty short too! The ambiance is calm and peaceful, the staff are attentive and friendly. I went twice this weekend and most recently with my family including two children. My bother and his children joined us too! We really enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't crowded and we had a lovely private space that allowed the kids to interact without being intrusive to other customers. Now, the food is wonderful! Their chicken dumpling soup is amazing!! I couldn't get enough of it. We also had fresh sashimi and several other appetizers-- their portions are generous. The food and ambiance were fine but at the end when we tried to pay our bill we ran into a very upsetting back and forth.. I think it could have been resolved nicely if the staff had better language and arithmetic skills. I have heard of Lim's for years.....and I am glad I had the chance to try it out with some friends. The restaurant has an extensive menu of noodles, soups, sushi, stir fry dishes, appetizers and more...The lady who waited on us was the nicest and sweetest server....she always approached our table with a light bow and with a very helpful demeanor. We ordered our food and right after, I saw someone getting the crispy Pad Thai dish and it was HUGE !! A large portion of crispy noodles in a Pad Thai dish...something I have to get next time !!!! All of our dishes were excellent... - Sweet and Sour chicken wok entree - Beef Teriyaki platter - Basil fried rice - Pineapple fried rice - Chicken satay The portions were really good size and the flavors were just perfectly blended. I eat spicy (like I eat raw jalapeños) and that does not bother me, but I know that spicy in a Thai or Indian restaurant is a different level of spice...So I asked for my basil rice to be made very mild....still...it had a nice level of spice....so much that I had to drink two full glasses of water with my meal....LOL. This is our go-to sushi restaurant in Rhode Island. Hands down the most freshest, creative, and delicious rolls. The sashimi is like butter and melts in your mouth! I also thought the signs identifying the bathrooms as men and women's were funny. I got the Chirashi bowl it came with miso soup . I also got a sashimi order of tobiko. The sushi in the chirashi bowl was so good. All of the pieces of sushi tasted great. The chef made a great choice in all his selection of fish. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. I loved the hint of sweetness in the rice. The miso was also very flavorful and not too salty. So yum! Service was fast! We ordered the Incredible Hulk and salmon mania! Both were very delicious and they do not skimp on portions! I ordered the beef pad see ew and that was also really good! When we lived in Wayland Square Lim's was our go to take our place. They generally turn around an order in 20 min. Some of my favorites are the Peanut Massaman Curry, Pad Thai, and Gyoza. The Peanut Massaman Curry is marked as spicy, but I feel it's more of a flavorful spice than a hot spice. It's pretty large, and generally when it comes as a takeout item the curry is in a soup container and the rice comes in a box. I like it with chicken. I just got take out after not having been for a few months and ordered off the lunch menu. I got the Spring Rolls and Yellow Curry with beef. Good as ever, but not packaged as well as normal. The yellow curry sauce got out of the box container it was in and all over the bag. It was also a little zucchini/summer squash heavy for me. I think the lunch menu is still a good deal though. Lim's is also a good place to dine in. It's a little fancier of a feel inside and it's a comfortable and calm atmosphere. read more

Super friendly staff! I eat here about once a month and the food is fairly consistent. Very bright atmosphere, but tolerable. Music is never too loud. Takeout is just as good as eating in. They are able to accommodate my various allergies. They have a large menu and there are only a handful of things I can get, but they are great about being mindful of cross contamination. Craving sushi and Thai for dinner and we're happy to find Lim's. They are open for takeout only at this time. Read a few other reviews and was happy to see they will veganize most anything. Normally when I ask restaurants to omit egg, fish sauce or mayo they inevitably forget. These guys did great with the exception of the spicy mayo on the mango roll. Pickup was really easy. Food was ready in about 20 minutes. The restaurant interior is well setup for the pandemic (plastic dividers, plexiglass, clean pens). The food was fresh and tasted great. The rolls were large in size as you'll see in the photos. The mango and avocado portions were generous. The veggie puffs (what looks like a spring roll) were full of flavor and fresh. Could probably eat one dish for 3 meals. Be careful we the spice levels. We love spice, but there are 3 levels. We got the middle level and it was perfect. But would have been too spicy for someone who didn't love spice. The pad Thai was amazing 5/5! The pineapple fried rice and basil fried rice were both really good, but those were a 4/5. I'm very sad to write this review. Earlier this evening i met a close friend And we went to Lims. We have been going to Lims since they opened. We have been there since day one. We have hosted large parties their- the definition of well respected, happy regulars. Tonight e went and the restaurant was infested with flies. Not botflys, like are pesky at a cookout- these were the tiny flies, you find near rotting fruit, or sewage. There flies were not much of a pain UNTiL our food was served, then they were distracting. We alerted Hunter our waiter- he re-seated us after he acknowledged seeing the the flies and they prepared our meals again. And, after we were reseated- like clockwork- the flies were in us. Please see photos and video. We could not eat... we just keep wondering what's happening.... We alerted Hunter/ the other servers and i gave my credit card and explained we needed to leave.. This is too much for us. When a server returned, after taking with the owner- we were going to charged for our dinner- complete. I was happy to pay and leave- but not for dirty dining. We challenged the full charge- please understand the only food item we enjoyed was salad and soup. in each spot we were seated, the minute food hit the table, the flies followed. We picked at our entrees. The waitress returned with an adjusted check, explaining they would not charge us for the entrees. But we needed to pay for our soup and drinks. We did gladly. The waitress kept remarking if " We wanted to talk to the owner, she's at the bar " Well, we paid our check, took the discount offered, leaving us paying for drinks, etc, and If the owner would like to talk to us, We'll be at Haruki. We have been coming to you since you opened. You have a sanitation problem. The flies tell the story. All I could think was what it must be like in the kitchen. Gross. read more

Hidden Thai gem in Wayland! Glad I found this spot on a rainy day. Centrally located, across the street from my favorite bookstore, Paper Nautilus. Great, cozy environment. I love the sushi dinner plate and it comes with a fresh plate of a variety of different rolls and nagiri.
