Slid in, pottied, kayaked, slid out. Ashley at the counter was such a kind human. She was incredibly busy, but I still felt like I got quality service. She gets extra points for being easy on the eyes. Birdman Shawn was our kayak tech. He wasn't as warm as you approach him but once you get him talking, man, he's the sweetest. Super cool guy. He makes work fun and really loves animals. My daughter and I were both impressed with his pigeon training skills. I picked up my ID on the exit and that was a fun day in the books. read more

Came here twice without realizing it. The first time was paddle boarding with my friends and the second time kayaking with my pup! I love this activity when I'm down in San Diego. There's always perfect weather and so much fun just being outdoors. It awesome that they also allow dogs on the kayak and also provide a life jacket for my fur buddy. We had a great first experience at Aqua Adventures. After seeing that they were pet friendly, I made the reservation online for a 90 minute tandem kayak session. It was easy to use the website, book and pay for the reservation. When we got there it was crowded so I was happy I made an online reservation. The staff was friendly and helpful. I told the lady that we had a reactive dog and she said she can meet me away from the crowd after I check in. She also gave us a heads up that they do not validate parking and we can park in the dirt lot across the street which saved me $10! After getting to the dock the gentleman there was very helpful. He was able to get both my partner and I on the kayak as well as our scared pup! He was great and professional. There was a large selection of rentals but I am happy we choose the kayak. It was fun to navigate around the bay and we got a workout in. For just $35 we were able to get the kayak rental, life vests and a life vest for our pup. We will def be back! read more

We shared great times, celebrating a friend's birthday while spending time in SD. If you have or haven't kayak before, you will love it. First time paddle boarding and it was a great experience! A group of 7 of us booked our SUPs (stand-up Paddleboards) ahead of time, online through their website. They sent a waiver to be signed through email day-of, which was simple and quick to fill out. When we got there, we checked in at the front desk and the employee who helped us was patient, kind, and personable. If you bring nothing else, bring your ID so they can hold onto it as a deposit for the equipment. You have to be escorted down to the dock, through a locked gate. Down by the Paddleboards, there are some cubbies where you can keep your belongings and shoes while you paddle. Not a totally secure location, but the employees who are helping with boards are sitting next to them so maybe it discourages people. We all left with everything we came with! They offer life vests you can wear the entire time, or the basic vests that they attach to the boards. If you've never stood on the board before, I recommend paddling out while on your knees until you get away from the dock and boats. The paddle boards served us well, and we made it back with 15 minutes to spare in our 2 hour reservation, even though we were paddling against the current on the way back. Make sure you slather on that sunscreen beforehand! I got toasted even though I used a lot. Definitely worth the price for people who just want to experience this activity without committing to it as a hobby. I want to return and try out some of their other equipment next time. P.S. This is a hidden gem in San Diego. For $30 you can rent a tandem kayak for 90 minutes. You can't stay home for 90 minutes without spending more than $30! Best deal in town. The people who work here are super chill, and seem to really enjoy their work, the water, the general beach vibe. It is contagious. They treat guests like friends not just random customers. I bring my 5-year-old daughter who loves kayaking, and they all address her with respect and kindness, never dismissive or talking down to her because she is little. Great place to rent a kayak and go out on the bay. Husband and I made reservations online and got a tandem kayak. Getting there was easy and parking is free on the dirt lot across the street. While you can make reservations online, they also offer walk-ins, which we did for the last time at 3pm. Even though they close at 5pm, the last kayak goes out by 3pm. Upon arrival, I was instructed to sign a waiver through their QR code on your phone. It was quick and easy. Soon enough, we were all suited up with our life jackets, paddles and onto the kayaks. The owners have made Aqua Adventures more than just a rental place for kayaks, paddle boards and hydrobikes. They offer classes for beginners with their personable instructors, and frequently host large meet-ups for sunset or night-time paddles. If you weathered Covid in San Diego you know these were an amazing time and had excellent turn out. They have benefits such as the Paws and Paddles to help find homes for dogs and they donate part of the rental fee to the non-profit. Not the adventure I was expecting! For starters I was very excited to check this place out. I have been trying to come here for a while but limited to activities due to a recent injury 3 months ago. I thought it would be amazing to do something fun locally besides the busy life of travel and work with amazing Patients. I needed a weekend dedicated to clearing my mind. I visited on Sept 19, 2020 and my experience was far beyond pleasant. When I checked in I was told I was not allowed to park in the Handicapped parking and had to park on the street or across the street. Well I walked up in my medical boot and crutch as my dog sat in the AC inside my car. She said Marina parking only without a care in world. Once I waited to go down to the docks with my dog she said they had me reserved for a single but I booked a Tandem Kayak because I clearly had my dog plus this was booked in advance. Once I got down to the docks I was in for yet another unpleasant surprise. The dock workers were complete not friendly at all. They told me in a rude way to stand behind the line yet two others were standing past the line. They didn't offer a life jacket for my dog and I had to ask. They could clearly see me struggling to get the jacket on and with my crutch but didn't offer to help. They pretty much just slapped the da*n vest on my dog. Not a care in the world. I could have been my usual self which is blunt and arrogant. However, I chose to ignore it. I didn't enjoy my time on the water at all because I was truly annoyed. They also didn't give my instructions on what to look for when I wanted to return. Yet I heard them explaining to others as I was returning. The dock workers truly suck and I plan on dragging the name of the place in the mud because no one deserves that type of treatment. They just lost what could have been great business because I was going to bring a decent amount of people here when my friends and fiancé comes to visit because I enjoy Kayaking. However, that will not happen. I will locate another business with quality customer service that's not ran by a bunch of simple minded lousy miserable individuals that weren't high enough to care about manners. They picked the wrong person to be a jerk towards. The only two people that seemed decent towards me was a girl who asked how was the water and the guy who handed me my ID at the end. This is one of the places we go for Paddle Boards. The front desk here are very Helpful, and even the people at the Deck area who helps with the paddles boards are really nice people. This place is nice for paddle boardings 'coz the waves are calm and not too strong, the only time you get knocked off of your board is probably if there's a boat near by passing 'coz the waves will change and knock you off, but theres always a LIFE VEST provided if you are not a good swimmer or if you don't have good balance. I like this place for paddle boards 'coz there's SEA LIONS to see in this area. We always bring my son's friends here and they always have fun paddle boarding here. read more

I've been to Aqua Adventures many times to kayak around the bay, and I can't remember having a bad experience. A friend and I got a tandem yesterday and even with COVID it's a super chill experience. The staff are all very nice, and there's more than enough of them to get people on the water quickly. Make sure to have a reservation though, especially for weekends. They've become very popular. As for the kayaks themselves, they're all well maintained and easy to use. The bay is usually very calm but also beautiful. Even if you just make it a few hundred yards from the dock you can be entertained by watching the seals play in the harbor (there's always at least 10 hanging out). One downside, you can't use the marina parking lot as of 2020, which was a big bonus in the past. But there's no shortage of street parking and there's a very large dirt lot you can use too. The storefront is like 200 ft from their dock which is very convenient and they have staff to help with launch and recovery. They didn't have it this year due to COVID, but they normally have a fourth of july fireworks event where you can row out and enjoy the Sea World fireworks show. It's awesome and I highly recommend if they do it again in the future. Bonus, they're dog friendly and even offer life vest for doggies if you don't have one. read more

We really enjoyed the young woman that waited on us today she was very informative asked if we had kayak before in this particular area. My son has fished here and he owns a two-man kayak himself. Honestly, it's much easier to rent one then put one on top of your truck and that's what we did. The guys out on the dock we're very kind and gentle and helped me sit on the deck lay sideways and get into the kayak. I had no idea that it was going to be like this. I had to have two guys help me get out. They were very sweet and gentle. I know if you were out of Lake it would be completely different but this is not a lake. This is the Bay that is so windy we actually only stayed out from 40 minutes. Very happy that my son was doing all the rowing. Well, just one more thing I can cross off of my Life List. It was a perfect day to go out as weather was wonderful we were really surprised it was cooler than what the weatherman had said. HYDROBIKE MISSION BAY (SD) INSTEAD! $25/90min hydrobike (single) around Mission Bay was super fun for the kids. My friend saw this on someone's Instagram and told me to check it out, and I'm glad we did! Since there are only so many hydrobikes, it's best to make advance reservations online. They have single and tandem hydrobikes, and minimum rental time is 90min so last appt is around 3:30 if they close at 5p. You can do this in street clothes and bring your purse etc with you, unlike paddle boards, but go bare foot, since your feet get splashed. They do rent out other aqua vehicles/boards but these hydrobikes were pretty cool, something different! This is a great way to see Mission Bay in a more stable environment than a paddle board or kayak, and super fun. No waves in the Marina except the ones you make. read more

Locating dog-friendly activities with a dog can be complicated, unless you're lucky enough to find an excellent company like Aqua! After checking out some Air BnB experiences and learning that La Jolla beaches are most all not dog friendly, I turned to Yelp to help me locate a company who would allow me to kayak with my companion. From the stellar reviews here and on bringfido.com, I knew Aqua had us covered. We rented a tandem kayak for 2 hours. The reservation process on their site was a breeze, and the cost was very affordable. I received instructions to arrive 15 mins early, which we did. We filled out a waiver, put on life vests, and boom! - we were out on the water. We kayaked all over Mission Bay, stopping at a picturesque white sand beach that our dog loved! We had such a blast i. The calm, clear water (we had beautiful weather for February) and saw sea lions up close! After our time was up, we paddled back into the dock, dropped off our kayak, and headed out. Seriously, the best staff and easiest water adventure checkin/drop off flow I've experienced. I highly recommend this company, and we can't wait to come back to try the hydro bikes and paddle boards. I have a paddleboard, but my fiancé does not so it was great finding Aqua Adventures to rent one from! The price is reasonable and the workers were all very friendly. They lay out the directions well of where you need to park as you have to park across the street in the dirt parking lot. We didn't have any troubles with this. The only real downside is the location. The water is very choppy where you paddle board due to all of the boats that are coming and going. We see other areas in the bay that the water is a lot calmer and would be a more relaxing place to paddleboard for beginners. read more

Wanted to try hydrobiking for the first time. Online booking was really easy and straightforward, as was the check in process. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The tandem hydrobike we rented was in good condition and we had zero issues with it. Most importantly, we had a fantastic time pedaling around the bay fro 90 minutes. We covered far more area than I anticipated. I almost rented the bike for longer than the 90 minutes, but I would say that was the perfect amount of time. I arrived super early to secure the best Princess parking since their parking lot fills up fast on weekend mornings. I did leave a water bottle on the dock and called right away after I got home and they said they saw it on the dock and that someone would bring it up. I called next day and they said that it was probably at the dock still. I called a few days later and they said that nobody had seen it, took my phone number, and never called back. I had a lot of fun with my friends and my boyfriend. We booked 2 tandem kayaks for 1.5 hours the same day. The said they were fully booked in the morning and we scheduled for 3:30PM. We actually got there about 2 hours earlier and they were kind enough to let us walk-in! The whole process was really easy. Aqua adventures had a seamless procedure from start to finish: upon arrival we checked in, filled out the waiver online using their qr code, and we were led to the docks where we were given our paddle boards and given instructions and tips on how to use it. Everyone that helped us was very nice and welcoming, from the front desk to the docks. You've got an option to go to the beach or to the bay (that's what we did- I just find going under bridges cool for some reason). They mentioned if you got lost there's a hotel that you can dock to and they will take you back to Aqua Adventures. And a little before our 2 hours were up we simply paddled back to the dock, got off, and were on our way to enjoy the rest of our day. Only hiccup would be the parking, since you can't park on the lot they're directly on, but we had no trouble finding parking on the street.
