Had the absolute best time ever! It is super easy to book online, someone is prompt in texting you in order for correct arrival / pickup times, super easy returns and so much fun enjoying your time in the water. I got a kayak and my brother got a paddle board rental. There was a discount/promotion when we booked online but their normal prices are already a great deal for an all day rental. The only time limit is their rental hours and how long you can stay out on the water. We met with Carl who brought us our rentals. He was incredibly kind and funny! He helped us bring out our stuff which was pleasant :) We stayed out on the water for about 5 hours (11am to 4pm) because we were just having so much fun. It really is worth your money. They bay there also has pleasant water that didn't get too rocky until late evening. It's great for beginners or someone who just wants to cruise around and just enjoy their time out. I made the reservation online. Got to the beach 5min early. We were all ready to go. I called at the time of the reservation to let them know I was waiting with my family. they told me they would be 30 seconds away. I saw them arrive and waited for them to get them out. They were helping someone out so I let them finish. Until I saw the guy just talking to the other people and flirting with the girls. I waited for over 20min for him to help us and he didn't. I finally called and told him I was watching him flirt with the group of girls. He finally come over to help us. At that point we were all frustrated so we canceled the reservation after wasting our time. After all was said and done. They called at 8pm to ask to remove the bad review. So apparently leaving a bad review for bad experience is NOT allowed. That makes me wonder, how many of the five star reviews are bought or how many bad views were taken down after people were not pleased with their experience with them. That they would rather remove them instead of being harassed. Edit: DONT HIRE THEM! SCAMMERS ! They don't want to refund the money. After canceling with them. I am currently suing Ben. Horrible service. They only have 5 stars because they tell people they need to removed the bad review if they want a refund back. HONESTLY DON'T HIRE THEM! read more

I had such a good, relaxing time paddling that I never even took my phone out of my dry bag. So, I saw some amazing birds, some sea lions, some nice boats, and watched the windsurfers- but I just enjoyed the sights rather than trying to capture them in a digital image. Hence my photo. JustKayak staff were super friendly and helpful. And then they let me take the kayak for a spin until 7pm. Yup. I could have paddled from 10am-7pm for $50. Places nearby were charging 30-$40 for two hours. Personally, I feel rushed when I'm given two hours. Picking up the kayak and dropping it off was super easy. Found free street parking and walked to the water, they brought the kayak and paddle and life jacket to me. Dropping it off was easy too. I called them to let them know I was back, and they came and got the kayak in less than 6 minutes. Just wear sunscreen, lol. Lesson learned, again. Had a 4pm reservation, was running a little late but they were super accommodating! By the time we got there, they had the kayak ready to go. We had a few things on us and they offered to watch it for us so our stuff wouldn't get wet. They also offer waterproof phone cases and dry bags to take stuff with you on the kayak! May 27, 2020 I called ahead and ordered a two person kayak for a rental. When I arrived at the agreed location on Mission Bay, the gentleman dropped the kayak off. He was very polite and professional. He supplied life vests. We had a great time. My girlfriend and I kayaked for a couple hours, returned to the beach, called Just Kayak, and he came and picked it up within five minutes. I will use them again without hesitation! He provided the kayak, paddles and vest. Finding the meeting location was super easy and we both took the kayak to the water which was less than 50 feet away. Easy to access and put in water. Everything renting a Tandem Kayak for the day went great for my wife and I . She's never paddle a kayak so to get her a first experience I rented a tandem from these guys to see if she liked it before buying one. The got to the spot to drop off kayak right in time as promised, I don't know the girls name who helped us but she was super nice and we just signed a waiver real quick, she gave us the kayak, life vests and some pointers in paddling through the bay and how the usual direction of the wind and safety stuff. Seriously, save your money and rent from these people! It's a great deal, and their customer service is superb. I had rented a kayak from them and Zeke helped us out. They don't have a storefront, so all of their gear is at a garage in a neighborhood. We got kind of lost but he was able to direct us easily. When we met up, Zeke went over all of my questions and was so kind! We asked where to go since it was our first time and he recommended Mission Bay since it was close and had flat water. It was a great recommendation because we had a blast! Definitely a nice spot to go if it's your first time. I paid $49 dollars for a double kayak. It's for the whole day! You just set up what time you would like to pick it up and drop it off. How simple is that? I can't express enough how great of a deal it is. The only thing I wish I knew beforehand is that you have to leave a card or ID with them while you rent it for liability purposes. So don't be alarmed if they ask you for that, it's not shady I promise haha. Next time I'm going to try stand up paddle boarding, and I'll definitely be going to them for guidance :) read more

I called about the Groupon deal to see if we needed to print it out or make a reservation beforehand. Ben picked up the phone and asked how many kayaks we needed. Instead of making the deal with Groupon, I was able to do it directly through the phone. There were nine of us and he gave us a really good deal for them! We were able to use them for the whole day we just needed to pick up the kayaks. While I was figuring things out with my group, Ben helped me throughout the whole thing. Jon was very nice and helped us getting it all secured and loaded to the truck. About 20 minutes later he called and said he had forgotten to give us our kayak seats. I want to express my appreciation for my rental. Im local but haven't done a lot of tourist stuff in my hometown, like seeing the caves up at la Jolla. Im sooo stoked I went through these guys to rent a tandem kayak to do a little 4 hour self guided tour today. Please note that I do have a truck to move the kayak but I'm sure you can use a car. Im so bad with names but I met the business owner at his storage place and he was really great helping me load and tie down the kayak. Bottom line, he didn't time me to the minute for my rental like most places. We had a GREAT time renting and doing our self guided tour! All the kayak tours out of la Jolla are 2 hours. We were out for about 4 and brought a nice lunch in a dry bag (a vons shopping bag tied down inside a trash bag) and had an awesome lunch on a secluded beach by ourselves. I'd highly recommend these guys to rent a kayak! I'm local and I believe in supporting my local businesses. These guys are the epitome of that! Just kayak!!! read more
