This review is for the nails jobs. I went there for mani and pedi. It seem that it's combination of hair/ nails/ waxing services. Fine thought that would be good, wrong. The salon seem to be in the business for a while. Truly limited choices of color to choose from. My technician is Maria.... I wanted gel but they didn't have it in gel color so they offered regular nail polish in the color I wanted. She even told me that you can't tell the differences between regular and gel nail polish and laughed. Umm... yes it is! Also,she laughed every time she went too deep intmy skin. Ugh! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hair salon! I met the owner, Carlos and he proceeded to tell me everything I could do with my hair to make it look healthier. I booked an appointment. I had never been to the salon before. It is so beautiful! As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted and attended by Ginger and Carlos. Their professional and positive energy set the tone for my whole experience! I felt completely at ease and confident enough to just give Carlos free reign on what to do with my hair! I have NEVER felt that way before, at ANY salon!!! He immediately fixed my hair color, added hi lights to complement my coloring. I LOVE the result! I LOVE this place. Sydney is my stylist and she ALWAYS does a great job. I have never had a bad experience there. It's amazing how good of a stylist she is. I almost always show her a picture online and she matches it to the tee! I just recently went for a chestnut (blondish)balyage, well let me tell you, my hair is DARK and Sydney worked her magic and made it happen and it looks healthy and not dry or stripped at all! I bought a deal on halfoffdepot.com for a cut and partial highlights and really enjoyed my expereince at the salon. I booked my appointment online which was conveninent because I had to change it at one point and it was simple to do. My stylist was Michael who was a charmer and we had fun talking during the whole service. I liked that I wasn't shoved off to one person to have my hair washed, another to cut my hair and another to dye my hair. It was Michael the whole time. He did an excellent job with my highlights but I knew he would after he was talking to baout being a hair coloring educator in new york city for a large teaching company who's name is slipping my mind right now. I also decided to add an eyebrow wax at the end because I had some time to kill and the room where it was done was very comfortable. Ive been to a place where I have gotten my brows waxed exactly where my haircut was done. I much prefered the room where I could lay down during the waxing. The owner did my brows and he was very kind. There were a few strays I had to pluck I noticed when I got home but no big deal I guess. I told my mom to go there to Michael and I hope she does. read more

Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to experience the staff at this salon because I was treated horribly by the owner, Carlos. Here's what happened: I purchased a Groupon for this salon for me and my mother to get a mani/pedi as a part of her Mother's Day gifts. Their appointments fill up quickly so it took me a few months to get an appointment. Once I made the appointment online I was contacted by someone from the salon and informed that my Groupon was for one person, not two. I said fine and asked her to book me a separate appointment at the same time as my mother's. She would be using the Groupon and I would be paying full price. She set it up and I received an email confirmation. We were good to go! A week or so before my appointment, I got a message from Carlos the owner saying that because I hadn't given my Groupon number he would have to cancel my appointment. I called back and asked him not to do that. Then he called me back and said the time slots had been given away and that he had ONE appointment later that day. These three communications happened via voicemail. I was a touch incensed when I called back and got someone on the phone. I explained the situation to Ginger who was sympathetic and let me speak to Carlos when he finished with a customer. This was when my experience went from slightly annoying to terrible. Carlos proceeded to blame me for my appointments being cancelled. He said that I shouldn't have set it up online and that I had done something wrong. I explained to him that I spoke with someone after doing it online and wasn't asked for the Groupon number. I asked why I was being penalized for something I didn't know I needed to do. He continued to blame me. Then I asked why he cancelled my appointment because it wasn't a Groupon appointment. He said that it said Groupon and again blamed me for the error when I hadn't actually set up that appointment, an employee at the salon did. Then he goes on to tell me that, "No one else has had a problem giving the Groupon number but you." That's when I felt the heat rise to my head and I knew the conversation was pointless. I told him I would be writing a negative review about my experience and hung up. I wrote to Groupon to explain what happened. They apologized and gave me a refund but I don't blame them. I find it deplorable that the owner of an establishment would speak to a customer that way. I was excited to find a Tucker based spa and looked forward to possibly becoming a consistent customer of the establishment. Now I won't and I'll share my horrible experience with all of my friends so they won't either. read more

When I first got to the spa I was greeted immediately and the staff was friendly. I looked around and thought "woo this is gonna be nice!" . Boy was I wrong! I had a groupon from a friend and I'm not sure if this was why, or if they forget all their guest. I waited 40min. before anyone gave me an update, stating that they were behind schedule. The receptionist then came back and said that I needed to of booked on the phone and not online and that they weren't sure of the nail specialist would be able to see me since I had a groupon. I explained that when I called to make an appointment I told the receptionist that I had a groupon and she said, "oh that's great, we are really busy right now, can you please nook online?" I said "yes." Now finding out I should have made the appointment via phone. But still online they had a "groupon" option for the groupon that I bought to book online appointments. It really just seemed like they were trying to get out of the appointment. I ended up waiting 70 minutes. Still no more updates from ANYONE! I walked outside and called groupon and explained everything, they agreed to refund the groupon since the spa was being difficult to let me us it. The crappy thing is that I was really wanting to find a good salon I just moved to an office super close to this location and was hoping to have a "must come to place every other week" They could have secured a new customer not only for nails but hair or spa services based on convenience alone, but after today's experience they lost. They should be happy to have groupon clients, but now they lost repeat full paying business! After I got off the phone with groupon I went back inside and told the receptionist that I would be cancelling, all she said was "ok". I mean really no apology or would you like to rebook? Nothing! I think I'm mostly mad that they could have had repeat business, but instead seemed to treat me like I was a waste of time. I can't tell you how the services were since I didn't have any services done, but based on their customer service I won't ever try to go there again no matter how close it is to work! read more

My boyfriend made me an appointment here to get a "spa mani/pedi" for my birthday. Very sweet, right? So I was really looking forward to the experience when I showed up for my 3 o'clock appointment. Unfortunately, Aqua was a big disappointment. They were extremely understaffed, and it was a full hour after the time of my appointment before they were able to seat me. I wish that the receptionist had let me know just how far behind schedule they were running; instead she would look over from her desk every 20 minutes or so and assure me that it would be "just a few more minutes." Forget about offering me a drink; she actually seemed like she was annoyed that I was there. Even after I was shown to a chair, it was an awkwardly long time before the overworked manicurist was able to see me. I sat with my feet in the rapidly cooling water, fearing that I would hurt her feelings if I just left, and wishing that I had done so the minute I walked in the door. Understandably, the pedicure and manicure were rushed and sloppy. I finally escaped Aqua, with chips, bubbles, and even old polish still on my nails, thinking about how I couldn't wait to go get a decent mani/pedi (for less money! With attentive service!) at my favorite place in Inman Park. I understand that this may have been an anomaly--in which case, Yelp willing, may it be blessed with many four- and five-star reviews and gushing compliments, as the law of averages decrees. But in my experience the staff at Aqua was disorganized, inattentive, and even rude (in the case of the receptionist.) Not fun. read more

I purchased a Groupon and called to set an appointment. I had to wait to the following week because they were booked. I arrived a few minutes early and Ginger asked me to fill out a guest card and processed my Groupon. She began ranting about how she had computer problems and left me at the front desk. I asked the price of the pedicure and asked if I could add it on. Barbie, my technician, finally shows up 30 minutes after my appointment time. She began complaining as soon as she walked in. I waited several minutes while she ranted about someone leaving her workstation dirty over the weekend (my appointment was on Tuesday). No apologies for being late. She prepped the pedicure station and invited me to have a seat. All the while she is complaining about something. She asked about the water temperature and I said it was fine. She replied that she thought it was too hot. (Well I guess I like hot pedicures.) She removed the polish and began trimming on my right foot. Then Ginger walked by and said "Oh you decided on getting the pedicure too." Yes I did. Barbie looks confused and Ginger tells her I also have a full set. Barbie says she was unaware and asked if she has time before her next appointment. Ginger tells her next appointment is at 12 (it is currently almost 11:00). Barbie complains about the lack of communication and says a full set takes 2 hours so we aborted the pedicure. So now I have one naked, trimmed foot and a polished, untrimmed one. Barbie asked my preferences but every time I gave an answer she complained about my response. I said I wanted pointy nails and she says "Nobody ever asks for pointy". She said the nails were easier to break. Yes, but I like pointy nails! I chose a matte polish and she complained that matte nails look "unfinished". She practically complained the whole time I was there. Plus she makes these weird grunting noises. Now I will say my nails looked pretty good, despite having "unfinished" matte polish. I ended up going home and adding a glitter top coat for pizazz. Barbie has good technical skills, but I would not return to this place. She did offer to complete my pedicure, but at that point I was just ready to leave. read more

I purchased a groupon for a mani/pedi. When I scheduled my appointment, I told them I wanted gel polish and would pay extra. My appointment was for 1:30PM. After waiting 30 minutes to be served, the nail tech who barely spoke any english asked me if i could wait longer so she could take a lunch break. I explained to her that i was in a hurry. The nail tech disappears for a while as I soak my feet in the pedicure chair. She came back and told me she had to leave to go help her daughter and asked if I could come back . I told her i could not and asked if someone else could do my mani/pedi. She offered for another lady to do it but the other lady did not know how to do pedicures. THEN, she told me she did not know how to do a gel manicure . I requested to speak to a manager, and the nail tech refused to call them over. I ended up leaving with NO mani/pedi AND they redeemed my groupon voucher when I checked in for my appointment. I tried explaining the situation to the receptionist Ginger, but she told me to "contact groupon for a refund, because this has happened before". Stay AWAY from this place!! Do not come here if you have curly hair!!! I have 3c-4b curls (so very curly but not yet coily) and I am in the process of growing my hair out since I cut it super short around 2 years ago. I decided to come here to get it trimmed and made it very clear I wanted no more than an inch off. The stylist told me he would cut my hair dry because it's curly and I reminded him that I only wanted it trimmed and typically when curly hair gets trimmed it happens while the hair is wet. He proceeded to try to brush my hair while it was dry (for those of you who don't have curly hair this is a big no) and when he couldn't brush through the bottom half of my hair because it had no spray nor product in them he would cut the tangled part off. He cut off around 4 inches of my hair and I didn't realize it until it was way too late and half my hair was already gone. I stopped him and reminded him that this was not what I had asked for but the damage had already been done. When the washing and touch ups were done he tried to explain to me that he did this so it would grow back in a certain shape. He, however, failed to acknowledge that that was not what I had asked for and did not clear this idea with me at all. Now, my hair has regressed to where it was around 9 months ago and I hate the way that it looks but I can't do any more cutting because I don't want to take anymore steps back in my progress of growing it out. I'd recommend going to a salon where the stylists can follow simple instruction. read more

I booked an appointment with Aqua Hair Salon back in October 2019, so this review is well overdue, but needed as an FYI for future clientele. A hairstylist, Rachel Nicole was advertising specials through a Tucker facebook group. I was looking for a new local stylist and booked the appt directly through her. She told me the salon would call me to remind me of the appt, but they never did. I arrived for a 12:00 appt on Saturday, October 5th which was the same day as Taste of Tucker. I even made plans to attend the event after my hair was complete. I went in for a haircut and highlights, but my current hair was considered "corrective color". I was really surprised at 1:00 PM another client arrived for Rachel 1 hour into my appt. and her hair was ALSO considered corrective color. I was in the salon for FOUR HOURS while Rachel tirelessly worked on BOTH of our hair back and forth. This took FOREVER and I was so confused as to why I booked a 12:00 appt and then someone came in an hour later?!? I don't know if the salon receptionist messed that one up, but I'm assuming SHE DID. I was SUPER ANNOYED and ready to get the hell out of there, but Rachel did a fabulous job. Be very careful of this salon and that you may end up wasting half of your day there because they overbook/double book clients. I missed Taste of Tucker as I was sitting in a salon for 4+ hours patiently waiting for Rachel to work on me and another girl, aimlessly sitting in a chair. A month later, I also found out that Rachel left the salon and doesn't even work there anymore....an overall disappointing experience that doesn't convince me to ever return again. read more

I have given this place too many chances! I booked a haircut appointment with Carlos. I showed up to my appointment on time, to be greeted by Ginger advising someone "tried to" call me and cancel that day because Carlos went home early. I advised her that no one called me, at which time she didn't apologize, but simply offered to reschedule my appointment. I went back several times after this, and every time, there has either been an issue where they need to reschedule the appointment or I get a call the same day asking me to come in early. I also received a groupon for a manicure / pedicure at this location as a gift. It took several months before I could get an appointment, and when I finally did, they called me 3 times prior to the appointment to get the Groupon number. Not only did I call in to make the appointment, but I gave them the groupon number when I called. I eventually had the manicure done and had no issue with the service. The service is fine, but they need to figure something out with the scheduling. read more

I had an appointment today and I came in on time. When I arrived the salon owner Carlos was on the phone and proceeded to ignore me for a good 10 minutes while I stood there. He was extremely rude to me and told me I had to call in next time. He then told me to sit down and wait. He then started yelling at one of his employees in front of me for having to pick up her son and how it "wasn't good for his business". It was extremely awkward to have this yelling match in front of me. I've been sitting here for more than an hour. This is such a bad first impression. I won't be returning. I waited a full week since my appointment at Aqua Salon to write this review, as I was hopeful I'd feel better about my experience there after some time to process and reflect. Here it is a week later and I am still extremely unhappy with my chop job and the "massage" I received. Let's start with the "massage." I must preface this by saying that the massage therapist was a very sweet lady, and I have nothing against her personally. However, I hold quite a bit of tension in my shoulders and upper back, and when I shell out a chunk of change for a massage, I except the therapist to really go to town on my back and relieve some of the tension. My massage experience at Aqua was more like a tickle. There was no real rubbing or massage to it at all, it consisted of only light touches all over my body, most of which were focused on my front half. Furthermore I paid for an hour massage and it only lasted 45 minutes. The haircut is where things really went wrong. I have--correction, HAD--long curly hair down to my mid-back. I told the stylist that I only wanted to clean up the damaged ends of my hair, and to please take off no more than 2-3 inches, as I wanted my hair length to remain well below my shoulders. I showed her with my hands how much to cut off and made it very clear that, as my hair is very curly, it shrinks up when it is dry (since it goes around and around in spirals, instead of straight down my back). She assured me she would not cut it short, and then proceeded to cut off at least 6 inches. I gasped after the first cut and asked her to show me how much she'd just cut...it was waaaay more than we had just discussed. I politely expressed my displeasure but at this point there was nothing I could do about it. I asked her to finish the hair cut and bit my lip trying not to cry. When she finished the chop job my hair was just at shoulder length when it was blown out straight. When it's curly it is well above my shoulders, which was my worst nightmare. It will take me at least a year to grow it back out. I am still baffled as to how a licensed stylist can discuss the needs of their client and not follow through on what has been very clearly articulated only moments prior. I have never written a negative review before, and as I mentioned I wanted to wait until I was not caught up in the emotion I was feeling right after this all took place last week. However, after a week of thinking this over and dealing with an absolutely horrid hair cut, I would feel remiss if I did not warn potential clients of Aqua Salon as to how sub par my experience was there. The whole ordeal felt like amateur hour at the salon, and was the worst experience I've had in this industry to date. read more

Here's the short version: understaffed, late, rude, and no one took responsibility. Here's the long version: My mom, my sister and I booked 12/30/14 for 2 manicures and a pedicure for 10am 12/31/14. Ginger, was sweet on the phone and confirmed for me, three people at 10am, two manicures one pedicure. We got to Aqua a few minutes before 10, got checked in by Ginger who failed to tell us that there was only ONE manicurist. But fine, my sister changed services to a haircut because Ginger said someone was available. Well I was set to soak for my pedicure while my mom got her manicure started and Michael the hair stylist ignored my sister completely. I got bored waiting with my feet in the spa after about an hour and fifteen minutes. The water had already gotten cold twice, my sister was still being ignored by the stylist who was supposed to do her hair. He had, in fact, disappeared temporarily waiting for the client who was actually on the books. (Because apparently walk-in customers don't rate) About a quarter to noon I decided "eff it, I'm not going to wait around while the chatty manicurist finished up with my mom's nails". No lady, I don't want to know your life story, I want my nails done while I hang out and enjoy being pampered. Michael NEVER came to talk to us, not even a hello. He never acknowledged my sister was going to be in his chair and Ginger took absolutely ZERO responsibility for not telling us that there would be a horrendous wait because almost NO staff was on that day. Honestly, WHO BOOKS THREE APPOINTMENTS FOR A SERVICE FOR WHICH THERE WAS *ONE* PROVIDER **WITHOUT TELLING THE CUSTOMER**????? I understand a salon being booked on a holiday, I even understand the majority of the staff taking that day off. What I DON'T understand is why we weren't afforded the courtesy of being told this WHEN WE BOOKED OUR APPOINTMENTS *OR* when we got there! Thank you Michael and Ginger, we won't be coming back or recommending your services. I WOULD recommend that readers SKIP your overpriced, under friendly, anti-customer attitudes and go to Hair Dream. From the outside, the salon looks like a thriftstore, they have a lot of clutter on the porch. you walk in and I felt like walking into a pier 1 imports or world market, because of all the tacky decor and again, a lot of clutter. the receptionist was friendly and asked me to have a seat while she would tell the nail artist that I was here. contrary to other people here, I did not experience any delays, and the lady (barbie) showed up 2 minutes later. I was led to the back and again, pier 1 imports, very disorganized and messy, and everything looks used and outdated, the equipment and furniture looks like leftover pieces from the 70s. the "spa chairs" do not work. I chose colors and barbie started working on my feet. during the whole time she made weird "mmmmm" moaning sounds, or paused because she was experiencing "hot flashes" (I dont know if she has a health problem or is going through menopause, so I dont want to bash her for that). she was gossiping with the other nail artist a lot, which was working on another client in the "spa chair" next to me. they were trying to engage us into their conversation, and hey, thats ok, but not really intersted. barbie was pretty rough on my feet, but she did an ok job. once in a while should would make snide remarks; I have a bunch of tattoos and she would say things like " you know these are permanent right". anyway, we proceeded to her station, where she would do my manicure.again, she had her fan blowing with full force because of her hot flashes. by the time she started my manicure, she seemed to be in a hurry, then told me that she needed to pick her son up from school. she did not do a great job with the manicure, probably because she was rushing it. she told me I could sit and hang out for my nails to dry, but she needed to leave. during my manicure somebody in the front room would turn up the radio, which is fine, I love listening to music, however the employee using the tanning bed at the same time listened to the tanning bed radio on full volume so it really started to get on my nerves. overall, barbie was friendly to me. i dont think she wants to be rude on purpose, and I bet her work would be just fine if she wasnt rushing it. I was excited because it was close to my work and thought this could be a "go-to" place on some days during my lunch hour. today, a day later, the polish is already chipping off my fingernails. nope. When I came in the lady was super sweet and welcoming! BUT, when I got to the seat to get my pedicure, A woman/worker would NOT stop complaining about every little thing. She didn't have one positive thing to say, and it made me a bit uncomfortable. My toe got pinched and started to bleed, and my nails after two hours are STILL NOT DRY!!!! She didn't put a top coat on it and I think that is why! My toes look great! My nails not so much! I'm going to have to get them repainted somewhere else. I also had to grab my own purse and flip flops with wet nails and 9months pregnant, it was difficult. Probably won't be back! read more
