The facility is also fantastic--very clean and playful looking; perfect for kids. I'm still a little unsure of how I feel about the business model. You have to pay for the months' lessons up front, and if for some reason you can't make it, you don't get refunded for any lessons you cancel. The money also doesn't go towards the next month's balance; you simply have to do makeup lessons or lose those funds. For a family like ours that struggled to find a consistent lesson time at all, scheduling makeup lessons has proved tricky, but we do have to miss a lesson once in a while. Not sure what the solution is here. I also came by the facility during business hours to sign my kids up, but the doors were shut and locked, even though they were open? Luckily the staff saw me and opened up the doors to let me in, but had they not, we probably wouldn't have signed up. We wanted to visually look at the facility before committing, so a phone call didn't work for us. Hopefully this feedback proves helpful. We're eagerly looking forward to our next swim lesson!

I feel like they did a good job teaching him and maybe two weeks of lessons would be perfect for him. Parking: When you arrive to the address you'll see the driveway that goes down a steep private driveway. There is a little colored flag that says swim lessons on it but if you didn't see it like me, yes drive down the long driveway past the little playground and camping trailer. There are places to pull off to park or you can park on the north side driveway near the chickens/turkeys. DO NOT use the actual driveway at all. They made that very clear in the email. The swim lessons take place in the backyard, there's a big playground the children are allowed to play on and there is a bathroom available.

They offer group lessons, they have punch passes, and they have an annual fee as well as a reschedule/makeup fee, but I don't know any other place that has makeups if you miss a lesson, so I think it's totally worth it. We will have to change his swim time once school starts but I think until he passes all 10 levels, we will be continuing our lessons here.

I joined a group of hikers and hit the trails this past week, in search of some great fall colors. Bell Canyon did not disappoint. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead, including clean bathrooms. The first part of the trail is pretty rocky and has a decent elevation gain-poles are helpful, but at the least, have good shoes with some traction. Once you get to the reservoir, it's pretty flat and there are lots of places you can get amazing pictures. Be sure to take some time down by the water-it's so calming and just beautiful. There were some detour signs on the trail, so we didn't get the full experience (not sure why it was closed, but we tried to follow signs until they suddenly stopped. So we turned around and came the way we went.) Overall, it's a beautiful hike and I'd love to come try it again when the trail is open.

It took us about 4 hours to hike approx. 6 miles with short breaks in between for water. It's a mixer of flat, incline, rocky, slippery (snow still out towards end of hike), upward steps, and mini bridges to cross over small water streams. There are surrounding plants and trees, but most are barely blooming. Didn't see any wildlife animals, but saw a few squirrels crossing our paths lol. The hike itself wasn't too hard. I'd rate it intermediate. It was only challenging because the paths towards the end were slippery due to snow still out and melting. It was fun with some close calls. Luckily I found a stick on the way to use. We passed by the lake at the beginning of the hike, which was nice. Once we reached the waterfall, we took a refreshing break; snacked a bit; embraced the beautiful nature; and then, headed back where we started. It was harder to hike down the slippery snow than it was to hike to the waterfall. I'd come back to hike this place during fall to see the vibrant color of the trees.

The food was delicious and plentiful - even for this hardcore vegetarian - and CRATE seamlessly provided for all the logistics, including the rafting and hiking, our helicopter transport from the depths of the canyon, and the flight back toward Las Vegas on smaller prop planes. All in all, CRATE provided an extraordinary experience through a truly extraordinary landscape. A few caveats: this trip does require some physical exertion, as one was expected to help pack and unpack the rafts, as well as set up one's camps (which, in fact, was a great part of the fun and group-experience). Having said that, one of our trip members suffered some unexpected moderate physical limitations throughout the trip, and the crew capably and compassionately assisted him and guided him, without detracting their attentions from the rest of the group. Also, some of the hikes were more rigorous and offered more exposure than necessarily advertised by the crew; however, it was easy enough to avoid any hikes, or portions of hikes, that one felt was beyond one's capacity. All in all, one of the most memorable, awe-inspiring, and eye- and mind-opening trips I've done in my seven decades!

This was another one of those hikes that was stunning from beginning to end near Alpine, Utah. Trail begins with a surrounding of aspen trees and eventually becomes an exposed area as you climb up the side of the mountain towards the lake. There were two water crossings at this time and easy to cross with the logs and rocks. For the most part, the trail was narrow and rocky with a steady incline. Required to drive on a bumpy dirt road for ~3 miles. Recommend a high clearance vehicle. Parking lot can fill up fast at the trailhead because the people who kayak, swim, etc at the Silver Lake Flat Reservoir also park in this area. I submited a review with suggestion of more caution due to I witness a child drowning during class , the reply from manager/teacher was an extensive , unprofessional, discriminatory e mail complaining about my child's behavior, and even SUGGESTING that there's something wrong with her and recommending to see an specialist Dr. besides that manager Anne - Marie S , made the arbitrary decision by her own to put my child in a solo class , isolate her for safety to other kids . Let's talk about the amazing management and staff at aqua tots. They are the most compassionate group of individuals to teach your kiddos about water safety and the true benefits of how to swim. I can't express how much I enjoy the management. They truly love their jobs and it shows. We love Aquatots! Coach Michaun does such an amazing job with my little guy, she has been his coach pretty much since level 1. We just moved up to level 3. I love that he is learning an important life skill as well as learning social skills, such as taking turns and learning to wait. I love that my kids are learning to swim, but also learning techniques of each stroke. Currently, my daughter is in level 6 with Coach Maren and Coach Emma. The instructors are young and hardly qualified. A child got a bloody nose while in the pool, no one bothers to get him out, blood in the water, the deck supervisor handed the kid a tissue while he was still in the pool? Yuck. The instructors read off an iPad which they are glued to the majority of the session. I've had other kids do swim schools at this age and the curriculum at that particular place is a solid 2/10. It was a dumpster fire going nowhere and fast for $200 a month.

We had a different teacher this time because it was different time. This teacher was incompetent and not experienced teaching children starting from knowing nothing, and not being comfortable with swimming. I walked in with my son and took him to his lesson and told the teacher it was only his second leson, he is very beginner, and also super quiet, meaning he probably wouldn't talk to her. I proceeded to go to the parent area after leaving my son with her. Five minutes after saying this, she proceeds to put his face underwater without his consent. My son is not ready for this. He can barely blow bubbles. Last lesson the teacher did not do this. She understood his silence meant he wasn't ready. This should have been in his record that he cannot hold his breath under water, what his last lesson was like, where he is at, etc. At this point my son is screaming crying, since he cannot hold his breath, he breathed in water when he went under by someone he was forced to trust to teach him the survival skill that is swimming. I rush in there to find out what happened. I asked if she got his consent for going under. She said he did not say anything, he did not nod his head yes or no. Meaning he gave no consent since he is extremely shy. She thought him not saying anything was consent! She thought that it would be okay to dunk his head after getting no response and seeing how timid he was! SILENCE IS NOT CONSENT! Total lack of awareness. Obviously he was not ready to go under water. The deck supervisor was there and she was very condescending saying the top of his head wasn't wet. Like that excuses the fact he is coughing up water sobbing! The very top of his head wasn't wet, but he went underwater without knowing how to hold his breath, causing him to breathe in water, and choke. And she tried to excuse that and invalidate what my son is going through. I immediately took him out of there and spoke with a manager. The deck supervisor proceeded to follow me and again argue and make excuses while I spoke with the manager. I had to tell her stop arguing with me- her attitude was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. I demanded I refund for what I had paid and told them to cancel the membership for I would never return. My son is still crying while all this is happening, he cannot calm down until we leave the building. The manager handled it well and refunded our money, and said it shouldn't have happened. I am astounded there is no communication on where a child is at in thier skill level? And no consistency between the first and second class? Why is this teacher using her hands to put my son underwater when he is not ready, while the teacher last week went slow and never did that, only poured a little water on his head with a toy to get him used to the idea? Awful awful experience overall and I'm so sad my son had to go through that. I feel immense guilt I left him with someone who made him feel unsafe and in danger. He has this negative experience on his swim lesson journey so this has set us back on his progress and willingness to continue else where with swim lesssons. Other parents with brand new swimmers need to be aware of the inconsistencies and lack of communication, as well as instructors with very little experience working with children who are nervous and shy, and starting brand new. Also, this instructor was not the one we signed up with too- it was a different name when I signed up. So be prepared for inconsistency in instructors as well.

Horrible…read morehuman being who has compassion others and only began laughing in my face when I brought up my concerns. Waited 50 minutes to get in in 100 degrees. When we finally got to the front they searched my bag (literally began pulling things out like I am a criminal) and told me I could not bring in my snacks. I'm sorry but I need to feed my daughter and myself healthy foods and make sure we are properly hydrated. To have my personally belongings search and then talked to like an animal was completely uncalled for. I had to beg for a refund because I will not be disrespected like than. The head lifeguard then tossed me my $12 with no words. I know people will not stop going there due to the fact that's it the only thing like that in the county, but the way it is managed is terrible.
