I've been bringing my daughter (now 3 years old) to this swim school since she was about 6 months old. I understand that swim progress isn't always fast, and I value safety far more than rushing through the levels. That said, it feels like we've reached a point where her progress has completely stalled. She's been in Level 3 Comfort at 77% progress for the last 4-5 months. Each week we receive slightly different feedback, but there's never a clear plan or explanation of what they'll be working on next to help her improve. I don't expect overnight progress, but I do expect a structured approach with clear goals and consistent feedback. Unfortunately, that's not my biggest concern. For a swim school charging over $123 per month for group lessons, plus an annual fee of more than $45, I expect a higher level of professionalism and reliability. We attend the same class every week, yet it seems to be canceled far more often than it should be. What makes it especially frustrating is that these cancellations frequently happen after the scheduled start time. We'll arrive for our 9:00 a.m. lesson, wait for the instructor, and then around 9:05 or 9:10 be told, "I'm sorry, we'll have to offer you a make-up lesson." I'm generally flexible, but that doesn't mean my time isn't valuable. Rearranging our schedule, getting my daughter ready, driving to the facility, and then learning after the lesson was supposed to begin that it's canceled is frustrating and disrespectful of families' time. A make-up lesson doesn't make up for the inconvenience, and it certainly doesn't inspire confidence that my daughter has a consistent instructor she can rely on. Overall, I'm disappointed with the experience and with how management has handled these recurring issues. At no point has anyone from management reached out to ask about our experience or discuss how they could improve it. Instead, those conversations have been left to the employees, who seem to be doing their best in a difficult situation. I genuinely feel for the staff because, from my perspective, many of these issues appear to stem from a lack of leadership and accountability rather than a lack of effort from the employees themselves. I wanted this to be a place where my daughter could build confidence in the water through consistency and support. Instead, we've experienced stalled progress, frequent last-minute cancellations, and a lack of accountability from management. I hope these issues are addressed because the instructors and employees deserve better support, and the families paying for these lessons deserve a much more reliable experience read more

Everyone who works here is very nice and you're greeted as soon as you come in. I like that there are so many class options and you can easily make up classes. However, as others have said, the classes aren't really progressing or teaching them how to swim. We went for months and my daughter got more comfortable with the water and enjoys going but I was hoping she would be actually learning to swim, since it's a swim school. It's more like a swim-activity school. They definitely are focused on keeping families in the program, rather than actually teaching how to swim. I think we could be there for years and my daughter not be an actual swimmer. So 5 stars for a fun swim activity and getting children more comfortable with the water with lots of class options but 1 star for an actual swimming school. read more

We have been going to Aqua Tots for almost 2 months now. My toddler has gone from screaming and crying the whole lesson to now she loves going and has made amazing progress! Her instructor Miss Katherine has been the right amount of empathetic so shes comfortable but also making sure she participates and completes her lesson! With Aqua tots for close to 2 year, not happy at all .. terrible experience looking to move out after this month ... It is waste of time and money .. my son in level 4 and with 10% progress pending close to one year.. only thing I'm hearing from them is working on consistency for close to 1 year.. now also no clarity what can be done to make progress .. If we continue for another couple of years also he can be in the same level .. Some of the issues observed ..: 1. Frequent changes to coaches 2. I do not recommend Aqua Tots. They charge a monthly fee and are more interested in keeping the fee coming in than getting your child to swim independently with the end goal of getting your child to save their own life if they were to fall into water. The child must reach advanced on twelve benchmarks to move up to the next level. Each benchmark has a beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The child must pass all of these to move onto the next level which adds up to thirty-six accomplishments! So my daughter, who is four, has been going for six weeks. The teachers continue to do the same basic techniques which include jumping in the water as far as they can and swimming back to the edge and pulling themselves out. Great thing to learn! However, that's about as difficult it will get until she finishes all thirty-six accomplishments to move up to the next level which will have more advanced techniques. They teach her to float on her back. I don't care about that and never learned myself. Again, I want her to be able to save her own life if she falls in the water. Meanwhile, at our pool my daughter is swimming upwards of twenty feet by herself! But when we go back to class, the most advanced technique she'll practice is jumping in the water once and swimming back to the edge. I learned about two weeks in it's a scam to keep the monthly fee coming in. So if you want Aqua Tots to train your child to swim it will be about six months. My suggestion is do one month, and work with your child yourself after that. Also, tell them you want to cancel the first time going in. They have a thirty day cancellation policy so if you don't cancel the first day, you'll automatically be charged for a second month. Oh, the facility needs a revamping. Completely dirty front windows to the parking lot by the pool that look like they've never been cleaned. Windows to the parent's viewing area shake vigorously anytime a door is closed. Bathrooms and changing area need a refurbishing. I never write reviews. This should tell you something. read more

We have been taking our little guy here since he was old enough to swim. Years later not only is he confident in swimming, but knows how to be safe while doing it. It is all thanks to this Aqua-Tots and the time and care they take with their students. Some people say they feel like it takes a lot of time, but wouldn't you feel better that your child truly knows how to be safe and great technique while doing it all? The staff here too, is also what makes our weekly visits fun. Seeing and interacting with great people like Kaylee and Abby make for great experiences. After a couple of lessons you really get to realize the value of what they bring to the table. Give this company and location a try, highly recommended. read more

Took my 6 months old infant for his first swimming class yesterday and overall we loved it. The staff was very courteous and there is plenty of seating for the parents. The pool was clean and well managed. The instructor was super nice to us as well. Has enough restrooms and changing rooms too. I would recommend this place. I have been taking my son here for the past month and all my expectations were dashed. No one remembers your name, I can't get the same teacher even with the same time spot every week. They just follow a script and don't care about learning anything about you or if you are catching on. They are supposed to track progress but no-one does. It is supposed to help my son be able to survive around pools, but I don't think that is working. They say stay consistent to help them learn what about the consistency of the teachers to help them make progress? I went to cancel but of course there is a 30 day notice so they make it impossible to cancel without losing money of suffering through some terrible experiences. My kids are learning swimming strokes (they knew how to swim in general before going) which is much more than they knew coming into lessons. They can't wait to get to the point they can join a swim team! We are so thankful to have lessons during this tough time and feel very safe at this facility. The instructors are knowledgeable and kind to my kids. It is also really nice to have a heated indoor pool to learn in the winter. 3 out of 4 times the swim teacher was a no-call no-show! We drive all the way there to find this out. There was no notification beforehand. Very rude staff. They are not at all cooperative. Even after getting confirmation on the class (date and time) for my kid, they called me and said we did not confirm your kid's class and you have to choose different time as the front desk person did not book your slot.( even after they mistake , they were not at all polite and respectful) Second time - I was on the way to the class , I called to let them know that I am running late . The lady at front desk said my kid will not be allowed to attend the class and can't even get makeup class for the same. I would really like to continue swim lessons for my daughter here but because of the very uncooperative staff I have to cancel her classes from here. My overall experience here is very negative. I want to first start off with the pricing, I received a handout/flyer from Aqua-Tots from a local event, where it was $85 for 1 day a week for a month. I found that reasonable. I signed up for an employee to give me a call for more details and possibly sign up my son. When I received a call from the employee she provided me information of how much it was going to cost and that their was a registration fee. She said that, the cost for a month for 1 days week was $92, and I mentioned I received a flyer stating it was $85. The employee at Aqua-Tots said the information I had was incorrect. I was like okay no big deal a couple extra dollars. They would charge my Credit Card monthly of $92. Then with the registration fee it was $35 . Then, we start going for swim lessons, the first time we had no issues at all, swimming or the swim instructors. What our issues were the lack of communication from the staff. They never verbally told us that they were closed for Memorial Day and for us to reschedule our swim lessons. So we called left a voicemail and they called us the following day Tuesday) to reschedule, which we did later that week on a Friday for our, "Make up Lesson." We went in on that Friday and the swim instructor was super friendly. The following week, we went in for our scheduled swim session, and apparently there was an incident that happened in the pool and the staff never told us as parents who were waiting for our turn to go swimming that our swim lesson was canceled. Okay, so I made an appointment for later that week on Wednesday, only this time we got into our swim lessons for maybe 10 minutes and a little girl "had an accident" and then we had to reschedule again. At this point I was beyond frustrated. I go up to reschedule because giving this place a call is a joke since they lack communication. The lady who was helping me at the front desk to reschedule had an attitude and mentioned she couldn't handle rescheduling. It's like why do you work here if you can't handle under pressure? When clearly our class got canceled. I do not recommend this place at all to anyone. read more

Very affordable lessons. $92 for one lesson a week. Compared to dance, voice or other lessons it's right on target. Both of my children love their weekly swim lessons. They are now in level 3 together. There's more value for them to be in swim than any other type of lesson right now. Especially in AZ. My son used to be petrified to get his head wet but now swims to the bottom of the pool to get the ring without hesitation. I'm also grateful they are pretty flexible with scheduling since my work schedule changes weekly. Looking forward to seeing my children continue to progress. read more

Both of my daughters have been coming here for about 3 months now. They love it! The staff and coaches are all very nice and helpful. My youngest daughter is at a stage where she is afraid of going under water, but her coach encourages her and makes her laugh while getting her comfortable in the water. I took my son here for swim lessons and it was a waste of time and money. There are too many kids in a swim lesson for each kid to get the attention they need. I highly recommend finding private lessons somewhere, that's what we did for our daughter. Initially private is more expensive but you actually save money and time because you don't have to take them as frequently or as long. Crying kids at aqua tots take the instructors time and attention away from kids that are eager to learn how to swim and aqua tots doesn't know how to instruct so many kids at once. Most of the lesson time your kid is holding on to the edge of the pool watching other kids while waiting for their 10 second turn to come up. Don't waste your time here, find private lessons somewhere. I imagine the only reason this place has decent reviews is because the staff is friendly and the setup is nice but I'd rather have good effective lessons. read more

The office manager, David, is an ASSET to this company and this location is lucky to have him represent them!!! He timely follows up even if it means he has to get back to you after research. And if he tells you that he will call you back on a certain date, he promptly does so!! Another location not only answered my question incorrectly, they failed to honor the incorrect answer that they gave me. David answered my question honestly and accurately, which was very much appreciated instead of the accidental bait and switch at another location. We absolutely love Linda. She teaches level 2 minnows and level 3 leap frogs. We started off in the parent-child class and my daughter progressed so quickly with Linda as our guide! Overall I would recommend this location. Found the school on a Groupon to brush up on my daughters swimming over the winter months. She seemed to like this much more than her first swim school (that lady was so mean!). Both instructors were very sweet and patient. My daughter enjoys the class and is improving her skills. What really topped off the experience for me was a recent visit. They made a mistake with my daughters make up lesson, not a big deal. The owner happened to be there at the time, and happily offered to throw on his swimsuit and give my daughter a private lesson (as they did not have a level 3 lesson at that time). I was super impressed that he jumped in, and enthusiastically gave my daughter her lesson. I'm a business owner myself and would have done the exact same thing. Fantastic customer service. read more

We are loving Aqua-tots! My toddler adores her instructor, Michelle, and talks about her all the time. Michelle is patient, encouraging and so good with kids. My son started Aqua Tots at 6 Months old with Linda. We were originally doing 2 lessons a week but due to the inconsistency on his Monday class swim teacher we dropped to 1 class a week Thursday Mornings with just Linda. Even just doing 1 class a week my son thrived and was moved up to level 2 before his first birthday. Linda is very thorough and is great with the kids. We sing songs and it goes hand in hand with swim instruction. I do wish we worked a little bit more on actual swim technique but I am sure that will come as my son gets older! read more

So far so good. We took advantage of the Groupon offer which gave us swim lessons for half price. We have 3 year old twins and they both love the classes. The classes are nice because there is no more than 4 kids to each instructor. The instructors are great and make the kids feel very comfortable. The parents are allowed to watch through the large glass window that separates the pool and the lobby. I think I am going to continue my membership for a couple of months and see how the kids improve. read more

We took our 2 kids here for lessons for about 8 months and now have our kids enrolled with Hubbard swim school and prefer it. We live much closer to Aqua tots, but drive out of our way to go to Hubbard. We experienced initial issues with billing with aqua tots (they overcharged us for months of lessons because and employee kept pressing the charge button). It was a huge pain to deal with this and took over a week for the money to be reimbursed to our checking account. Aqua tots doesn't seem to have as many class options as Hubbard- at one point we were told they were unable to schedule my two kids who were in different levels at the same time slot. Hubbard has all of their scheduling online, including scheduling make-ups due to vacations, etc. and their employees have always been professional and friendly. The pool at hubbard is larger and I feel that it is cleaner- we experienced showing up to class several times at aqua tots only to be turned away because someone had pooped in the pool. Hubbard seems to be better on the prevention end of things to make sure this doesnt happen. Aqua tots charges sign up fees, hubbard doesnt, which we appreciate because we also want to take advantage of summer swim classes offered through the city. Overall weve just been much happier in all respects at hubbard. I also highly recommend looking into the swim classes offered through parks and rec over the summer. Its only $15 for 8 lessons and the instructors we had were awesome. read more

I started my daughter here when she was 9-months old. She cried her first month of lessons and the Paige, the instructor, pulled out the foam canoe! It was the first time she didn't cry, she was even smiling! The instructors are very patient, with kids and parents, and the front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. Not impressed with the instructors or the way the classes are set up. The classes have 4 kids to every teacher so the teacher spends less than 10 min in a 30 min period with each kid. The teachers expect your kid to sit still and not move while they are tending to the other 3 kids. Heaven forbid your toddler acts their age with the instructor Linda. She easily loses her patience and there is no return after that. I dont think she understands how to work with toddlers even though thats what she teaches. My child hated coming every time. Which I find strange because swimming is always fun and very looked forward to any other time. After our fourth class with Linda my child broke down and said she didn't like him and she was always telling him he is being bad. Ok so he's 3 and he wiggles around like 99% of 3 year olds so I could see how frustrating that could be but my son saying she tells him he's bad because he wiggled around? Come on. So today as I watched I saw exactly what he was talking about. Today I watched another child sit on a step so my child proceeded to sit with him while she was tending to another toddler. The two weren't playing or doing anything they werent supposed to just sitting on a step. Linda grabbed my child sat him very abruptly on the side of the pool. Left the other child where he was and didnt say a word to him. So naturally my son saw he wasnt doing anything wrong his feelings were hurt and embarrassed, he started to cry. She completely ignored him. Then when it was his turn to float on his back and turn to blow bubbles then swim to the side like the other kids she gave him a quick dunk then put him back on the side of the pool very abruptly. Very unprofessional and very cold to do this to a 3 year old. If she wasn't in a pool with 3 other kids I would've given her a piece of my mind. That is not how you treat any child let alone a child your getting paid to teach. To top it off you have to give a 30 days notice no matter what so we are in 240 bucks for 5 classes. Pretty great set up there. This place is absolutely horrible and a complete joke go to ISR. Its one on one the instructors are way better and your child learns to swim in a healthy fun environment. read more

My kids have been here almost a year. They are making good progress and the instructors are great. The customer service however and their inconsistent billing/payment requirements seem to be unavoidable. They have made errors on our billing every month for the past five months. I recommend standing in front of the cashier with your card and requiring a receipt vs email EVERY TIME. On several occasions they have charged double what they were supposed to. We tried paying by check for tuition only to discover they weren't depositing them and had a stash of about 5 of our tuition checks which they deposited all at once when I questioned why they hadn't been cashed. We had taken our kids to Aqua Tots since the day that it opened and I am disappointed to be writing this review. Some of the instructors are wonderful and really do a great job with the kids but unfortunately, the bulk of the instructors are terrible. My almost two year old daughter was in a class with an instructor and two other students (this is a 3:1 ratio and note that the school allows for a 4:1 ratio). During this lesson my daughter (just under 2 years old at the time) slipped under the water as she was waiting on a step for her turn. She was visibly struggling, splashing and trying to come up for a breath. I watched for second thinking that the instructor would have seen her but I was wrong. The instructor continued to do whatever she was doing with another student. It was not until I ran into the pool area and pulled my daughter out of the water that she noticed that anything had happened. All of this was videotaped, as there are cameras in the pool area, and after the owner reviewed the tape, he told me that the instructor was negligent in not keeping her eye on my daughter as she should have been. This teacher obviously couldn't handle the three kids that she had in the class and it makes my stomach turn to think that she could have even had one more kid in this class!! To my knowledge this instructor is still there teaching kids!! What is sad is that I had seen this same scenario play out while I was watching my kids lessons with another little kid. I saw the kids father react the same way that I did but I made the mistake of thinking that this must be a rare situation only to have the same thing happen to my child months later. This was the scariest moment that I have ever had to experience with either of my kids and I am writing this in hopes that another parent does not have to go through this experience with their child. We now have a private instructor that is teaching both my kids to swim and they are progressing far more than they ever did at Aqua-Tots. read more

We took our kids to Hubbard swim schools last year and had someone teach them at the house last summer, but this year we decided on Aquatots for its convenient location. After the first few lessons I felt that my kids weren't being pushed enough but we wanted to give them a try so we stayed for 10 weeks. I want them to learn how to swim not just play in the water. The teachers were frequently absent and therefore we had subs who did not know our kids or their abilities. We often could not find our cards that had the information on our kids which would be helpful to the subs. We finally pulled the plug and switched the kids when both of their teachers quit. The staff was very nice and accommodating, but if you really want your kids to learn to swim, I would not recommend Aquatots. read more

My then 4 year old took lessons here for several months through the summer last year. It started out really well & she had a couple of really good teachers, and she seemed to be learning a lot. Unfortunately, as she progressed, she ended up with a very young male teacher who didn't seem like he knew what he was doing & didn't really "get" little kids. He was late at least once to the lesson, and he frequently forgot to fill out the progress card each week. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, so I pulled her out, since she wasn't learning anything. For the amount of money they are charging, I really expected better. I will be taking my child for lessons elsewhere this summer, either Hubbard or Teacher Lynda's in Peoria, both of which I have heard great things about. read more
