Before I get into why I'm only rating this place 3 stars I will say that we had a blast. For $306 we rented a private cabana, bought 3 adult tickets and 2 under 4' tickets ( by mistake ) . I didn't realize until after the Etix purchase that junior tickets were for under 4'. However when we got there I was going to upgrade them and the lady just said no big deal, so that was nice . Parking was free and right there at the entrance . Any ride you need a tube for will be provided but we chose to purchase tubes for the wave pool at $5 each . While there aren't a ton of water slides there are enough to keep kids entertained for the entire time we were there , from 10a-5p. On a Thursday and even with several summer camps full of kids the lines were tolerable, never waiting more than 10-15 for a ride, and later in the afternoon when all the camp kids left there was almost no wait for anything . The food was cafeteria style , walk through line and pick what you want fried food and to feed a family of 5 lunch was about $70. Lockers and water came with our cabana rental but there seemed to be plenty available. Overall the cleanliness was good . Here's where the score got lowered . The " lifeguards " are teen angers on a rotation from station to station to prevent fatigue. On the water slides that use tubes or mats the lifeguards working the stations seemed to hate their jobs.... And this was the feeling I got from the time we got there to the time we left. Some were great and personable but others were just miserable . When your height limit for most things is 48" you expect some type of direction or assistance for littler kids . That did not happen. On top of one of the slides a gust of wind blew one of their umbrellas into a group of kids , mine included and the life guard just stood there , I grabbed the umbrella and made sure the kids ( including my 9&12 yo) . She ignored it. They were also letting people go down before making sure the bottom was clear which was causing people to come down on top of eachother. on the " Yankee ripper " which is a slide that goes almost straight down while you're on this heavy sled type thing a kid came down , fell off the sled and got stuck . He was littler and not only was the guard not giving him any direction but he was having a hard time getting the sled full of water off the slide. She was of no assistance at all and seemed quite annoyed..... I've been an EMT FOR 12 years and too see some of these peoples lack of attentiveness who would be charge of saving my child's life in an emergency was disappointing and a little scary. In fact I wouldn't even want some of them near my child in an emergency. If I wasn't so comfortable in my ability to act in an emergent situation this would be a reason for me to never return , kids safety and the safety of visitors should always be a priority. If you're being paid to do a job , do it . Last but not least the sled for the Yankee ripper are far too heavy to carry up that incline for younger kids , they should either up the height restriction or find another solution for carrying the sleds . My husband would also probably want me to mention his disappointment with the aqua saucer .... This was the one thing he really wanted to try lol but he was too tall.

the racer slides almost took my fingers off and i can see the bone now. i was in so much pain and i had to get out of the water because of how painful it was. this has happened multiple times and they have not done anything about this. the paint also got in my skin.

The best water park in Maine is near Portland! Katie holds the Aquaboggan Baby Seal Mascott we bought in the gift shop!

It was awesome they want you to have fun and kids can enjoy it to! There is only one really big slide that is the only scary one the rest in awesome bumper Boats are Lousy but the rest is awesome they even have go carts that are 2 Seater! It is amazing better then monkey see monkey do do if you want to see how bad that places is you can see my review on monkey see monkey do and it is not good! The staff is so nice and safe! Expect a day trip for 2 to be over $100 for tickets alone. Food and drink in the park is pricey, like you would expect for an amusement park. The great thing about Funtown is that you are fully able to bring in your own food. My family opted for the annual season pass, as we come multiple times a season. If you plan to attend more than once, I highly recommend going the pass route. It pays for itself after 2-3 trips. Does it need updating? Sure, but honestly, it's part of the charm. Go forth and have a good time!

We went on a Wednesday at the end of June and it was not crowded at all. My kids had a blast! Right when the park opened we headed to Excalibur and rode it about 4 times to start off the morning. Everyone was so excited to ride it that many times. It's a wooden roller coaster that is a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. We hit all the Funtown rides multiple times. They loved the bumper cars, the vintage car track, the wild mouse, thunder falls log flume (which gets a little bumpy, but it cools you down on that drop), Atmosphere (which is an indoor Sizzler type ride with music and animations, that is the weirdest thing I think I've even seen in my life), and especially Whispering Pines Haunted Hotel. That last one is a dark ride where you have to save people from ghosts. You get a laser type gun to shoot at the targets and keep your score. I'm not sure how accurate they really were, but it was fun none the less. After a pretty "meh" lunch, we headed to the Splashtown area. They have a few water slides, a pool for the kids to swim in, and a little splash pad. The water slides were fun, until I bonked my head goind down Amphitrite's Challenge. You go down head first on a mat and for some reason on one of the turns my head didn't follow along. It hurt pretty bad, and I had one of the EMT's on staff help me out. He was very very nice and gave me an ice pack. I appreciated his kindness as I felt so silly after the event. Overall, we had a fun day exploring Funtown Splashtown USA. If you are looking for something to entertain the kiddos for the day, this is definitely a nice option.

We loved the water slides, cleanliness, and friendliness of the lifeguards and staff at the waterpark. It was so quiet mid week, we were sometimes the only ones in the baby area. The view from our room is beautiful, and the hotel is quiet. We loved that if we didn't want to go outside into the cold, we didn't have to. Breakfast, coffee, pizza, dinner, and a bar were all a walk away from our room. Housekeeping is great. The hotel has a texting service so if your room needs attention or if you need toiletries/towels, you can text the front desk. I would definitely return midweek for the free water park admission! One thing that I didn't like was the wall air conditioning units. Like the last time we were there, it turns off in the middle of the night, ugh! The sheets were kinda scratchy as well. Standard amenities: hair dryer (works well!), iron and ironing board, safe, in room Starbucks coffee, shampoo, conditioner, soaps, lotions, cable, alarm radio/clock What I like about this hotel is the attached water park and the fun activities they have for the kids. Nightly marshmallow toasting (not a smore! Marshmallow only) and fun things like movie night, pool parties, arcade, and kite making activities. Plenty of parking but far away from the rooms on the left side of the hotel.

Cranmore delivered just that and more. Lots of greens and blues where I could work on my skills, try trails with escalating difficulty, and still kick back when I just want to enjoy myself and not be a ball of nerves. I also enjoyed the length and variety of their many trails I could traverse. Was happy to have more options than just a quick up and down in a straight line over a full day of skiing. Their main lift was quick and skiers were able to load efficiently. Lots to look at on the way up. The day of my last visit there were several ski competitions going on just next to the lift so it was fun to watch people competing and see spectators make the trek up to watch as well. Ski patrol were out and about and lots of staff available to check in with as needed. The lodge itself had everything I needed... free cubbies to store your stuff, bench seating to change into your boots, adequate table space both up and downstairs to grab a bite to eat, indoor and outdoor gas fireplaces to huddle by, a bar and hot foods, and best of all... a bathroom at the same level as where you can ski up to so no having to navigate stairs in clunky footwear. Drop off area for skis, quick in and out to purchase tickets, simple walk over to a very large parking area. I can't wait to return when the opportunity arises!

I don't know what everyone is complaining about - I thought it was great! The Roar-a-Saurus was a HUGE hit for the older kids, and I was glad they had it, as the 12 year old needed something a bit more thrilling. (Note: That ride was pretty intense!) The Polar Express and Bamboo Chute were big hits for everyone. Yes, sure, things are expensive - but what isn't? I've never been to an amusement park that doesn't try to money grab at every turn. $18 for a photo on a ride? That's crazy, but people paid it! And there's certainly no obligation to buy it. All the rides were open and we didn't have to wait very long. Granted, it was a Tuesday and thunderstorms were predicted for the afternoon (it only rained a bit). The water park area was fantastic and provided a nice change of pace. Others complained about the bathroom cleanliness and being outdated? No idea what they're talking about - we all thought they were adorable and clean. Perhaps we went in different ones. Get your tickets online to save a few bucks. If you're in the area with kids, it's a great way to spend a nice day! And, oh, one more thing about the TimeSaver thing that someone else complained about. For me, the Polar steel coaster was too small and I didn't have enough leg room so knee hit the seat in front of me, then that padded bar punched me in the gut at the end. But the wooden coaster made up for that! I had much more leg room and the bar that holds you in was much bigger and didn't punch. Whew! I will say that overall the wooden coaster was more fun, though it does jerk you around more side-to-side. (I had really been looking forward to both coasters and the water rides!) The bamboo log type flume water ride was probably my favorite. I wasn't expecting that, but could have done it twice (and I'm 64)! The gentleman working the ride graciously helped me in/out of the "log" as it is moving the whole time and your feet get wet too, so it is tricky getting out. I thanked him a lot! I appreciated that Story Land provided free cubbies at each ride so we could stow eyewear and dry clothes etc. in totes/backpacks we brought along because no way would you take those on the rides. Many people brought a wagon with them and next time, we'll do that. I took a small canvas tote with a dry change of clothes, towel, and water shoes. I bought one drink and kept the cup to refill with water. I bought our whole family lunch and it was about what we spend at a full service restaurant ($150 for 7).
