Sofas on the lawn, a sea of broken down lawnmowers and a concrete block fire pit about the size of a small house, filled with remnants of said sofas and burnt beyond recognition metal & plastic. I wouldn't flinch if this was used for a mass human burning at one point. If you make it past the smell of Mustang cigarettes & formaldehyde , you will be greeted by a group of gentlemen right out of the Mad Max movies. All saddled around a lone campfire flanked by a few tarp-covered campers, a cloud of smoke above them of who knows what. These dudes are RTP. Ready. To. Party. Absolutely just a mish mash of Old Milwaukee chugging, old dudes ready to tell their life stories of past arrests and their Motorhead cover band (no joke). We actually used the kayaks for about 6 minutes in total before we were bbq'ing, drinking up a storm with these dudes. Just a friggin blast. A few other highlights I'd like to mention: -The restrooms were in the house up the stairs; not sure how the girls in our group got out alive and/or std free. -For about 2 hours there was a shotgun party across the street of nonstop gunfire; at one point showering down upon us into the trees as we played bocce ball. excellent. When it was time to leave, high fives and hugs all around from these dudes, like we've known them for years. So all in all, 5 stars across the board. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as an afternoon hangout if you have a 12 pack, some friends and a willingness to hug some 50 year old dudes.

Life jackets are provided of course and we have to sign waivers. The river route is so long and scenic and will definitely take hours. The staff are really helpful as well. East Brimfield Lake, also known as, Long Pond. It is a nice, lightly developed body of water along…read morethe Quinabaug River Canoe (Kayak) Trail. The Lake/Pond is frequented by fishermen, canoeists, and kayakers. It's easily paddled along the circumference, just watch for a few shallow stones and stumps. The entire body of water covers approximately 420 acres. There are three sections, North, Middle, South. North to Middle requires a short portage across a narrow bridge. Middle to South is passable below a Route 20 over pass. The South section leads further to the South on the River Trail. We usually park on the North side of Route 20 at a public boat launch and cast off into the Middle Section.

Calling ahead, they answered both phone calls immediately and were cool and efficient in their response- young guy (maybe early 20's?)- nice guy/kid. When we got there, it was a simple and painless process. Get your vest, choose some paddles (both in great, solid quality) and get on our kayak, which the employee had in the water, waiting. He gave us the basics and off we went. On our return paddle in, he saw us coming in and came up to the docking area and helped us both off. On our way up the little walk I turned back to see the view of the water when not even 2 minutes passed by and the employee had already lifted the kayak and started washing it off and cleaning it. It shows that this guy and the company care about quality and presentation as well as customer feeling and well being. Kudos to them. Loved the experience. Take a chance folks, you won't be dissappointed.

I saw this on the Princeton hiking trails page although it is in Westminster. It looked good on…read morepaper. The entrance is a dirt road worn down to big rocks that jut up all over. There was tree debris all around the parking area and logging equipment. The trail has not been maintained at all and had thigh high grass that looked like a tick paradise. I was prepared for some mud given the name Muddy Pond, but not this. There's a stone marker by the entrance honoring the family who gave the land. They must be very disappointed.

Service from the phone call to when we left was A++++ They set my son, ferret and myself up with two paddle board or SUP boards.. They also have canoes, and kayaks as well. Amazing rental price of 20 an hour and 10.00 for each extra hour..which is very reasonably priced. They also include a life jacket and if you would like a waterproof case for your phone at no additional charges. The staff were warm and friendly. And they just adored my ferret named Francis. We all headed out and ready to tackle the mighty CT river. Which I feel with all the wacky weather and rain that we've had the currents are a little stronger than normal. Due to my own personal health issues I gave up before the hour my son stayed out a little bit longer than I did but closer to the area where we started off. And Francis was over it too and took an swim. We did actually have Sunshine for once!! Overall we had an amazing experience. When I do go back I would most likely try a canoe or kayak. I do love supporting family owned and run small businesses here in Connecticut this is one of those hidden gems that you definitely have to try out before the summer ends!!!!

He was helpful, supportive, and I always felt safe. Also I had a lot of fun! Everything was taken thoughtfully taken care of by the staff, from our food orders to the pictures after. We were matched with people of similar age and ability in our boat. FYI, our family was myself, my husband and 17 yo son. If you have a chance to choose Crabapple, do so. You'll get a family run business that focuses on service, safety, and fun. Just a note, our first experience whitewater rafting was in a different state and with higher class rapids. As a newbie, it was much less fun as our guide there barked orders and yellled if we weren't "pulling our weight". So don't align the class of rapids with the fun factor... go with people who will make it fun.

Brendan was our guide and he was very patient with our group of 6 (4 of whom it was their first time). I was very impressed with how knowledgeable he was about the area we were rafting in and felt like I was in excellent hands. There were 4 rafts in total on our trip. They have plenty of changing areas for after your trip and the food was ready when we arrived back to the headquarters. It was very foggy the day of our trip so they gave us our photos for free which was a nice gesture. They have a merch shop as well if you want to take back a souvenir. I would recommend them to anyone.
