This was an awesome spot!! Cheap rentals, beautiful lake, and great customer service! Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

OK, where do I start. When you pull up, you seriously think you just pulled up to the scene of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Just a complete horror show. Sofas on the lawn, a sea of broken down lawnmowers and a concrete block fire pit about the size of a small house, filled with remnants of said sofas and burnt beyond recognition metal & plastic. I wouldn't flinch if this was used for a mass human burning at one point. If you make it past the smell of Mustang cigarettes & formaldehyde , you will be greeted by a group of gentlemen right out of the Mad Max movies. All saddled around a lone campfire flanked by a few tarp-covered campers, a cloud of smoke above them of who knows what. These dudes are RTP. Ready. To. Party. Absolutely just a mish mash of Old Milwaukee chugging, old dudes ready to tell their life stories of past arrests and their Motorhead cover band (no joke). We actually used the kayaks for about 6 minutes in total before we were bbq'ing, drinking up a storm with these dudes. Just a friggin blast. A few other highlights I'd like to mention: -The restrooms were in the house up the stairs; not sure how the girls in our group got out alive and/or std free. -For about 2 hours there was a shotgun party across the street of nonstop gunfire; at one point showering down upon us into the trees as we played bocce ball. excellent. When it was time to leave, high fives and hugs all around from these dudes, like we've known them for years. So all in all, 5 stars across the board. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as an afternoon hangout if you have a 12 pack, some friends and a willingness to hug some 50 year old dudes. read more

Initially I wasn't sure if I had accidentally driven to West Virginia when we arrived. A bit intimidating at first sight. But then I got over myself and my kids had a blast. The attendants were funny and very helpful. The price was great and the kayaks were in very good condition. My only complaint was the amount of trash littered in the parking area. I ran over a glass bottle on the way out. Luckily no flat (yet). So my advice is simply to be more observant than I am and enjoy. read more

I called Edgewater Canoe looking for a kayak rental and this is how the phone conversation went; Lady: Hello Me: Hi is this edgewater Canoe? Lady: yep Me: How much is it to rent a kayak for the day? Lady: $25 Me: Ok, from what time to what time Lady: It's $25 a day ( mind you she is extremely rude this whole time) Me: What time do you open? Lady: We are open Me: Ya but when do you open Lady: WE ARE OPEN NOW Me: Ok, what time do you open tomorrow? Lady: Hugh sigh Me: I'm sorry but is this a prank? ( This lady was so unbelievably rude I seriously thought it was a joke) Lady: No it's not a prank!! Whatcha think I'm gonna wake up at 8 O'clock in the morning for nothin?! ( referring to me asking what time they opened.) Me: You are very rude Lady: WELL F OFF AND DON"T BOTHER SHOWING UP TOMORROW ( but she said the whole word) then she hung up. I'm telling you that I am not exaturating the least bit. After she hung up on me all I could do was laugh. I texted my friend and told her to call to ask for a kayak rental but she was working. I didn't even tell her how rude this lady was. I wanted someone else to witness her wrath.I only gave them one star because I couldn't give them zero. I won't be renting a kayak from them. read more

Great little outfit for a great price! Friendly & accommodating - Just what we needed to get on the water!

Came to Edgewater with a couple of colleagues for some midweek fun while the weather's still nice. As other reviewers have mentioned, prices are probably as good as one can get for rentals: $5 per person per hour. Hours are also good (still open til 9 every day). We got our pick of kayaks because there was no one else around; there was a decent selection, although I had to pick out a few cigarette butts from my boat. The lady who got us started was very friendly. This place looks like a drinking game wonderland, with horseshoes, corn hole, and other games surrounding the area. I have no idea why this stuff is here, but I was glad to see at least there were some port-o-potties to use when we finished our trek. This was my first time kayaking and I had a great time, and I will probably come back. Folks who take themselves pretty seriously should probably go elsewhere. read more

The overall condition of the place wasn't very good but who cares about that, the kayaks we rented were fine. The river was beautiful. My wife, son, and I kayak'd and swam and overall spent about 6 hours on the water. The price was great as we got a deal on Qutopia(sp?). When we left they said they were serving free hot dogs and burgers that night not bad! When we came back around 5 everyone was drunk, one guy was running around on a lawnmower with a 30 pack of bud dropping "F" bombs left and right. I give it two stars because it wasn't really a family atmosphere. I got my son out of there quick. The guy that was helping bring the kayaks in was stumbling all over the place. The dogs and burgers were no where to be found when we got back but I wouldn't have stuck around anyway with my young child. I recommend it because you won't find a better deal but beware if you have young kids. read more

Was very skeptical about going here didn't know whether to leave or not, but couldn't after I was greeted by Glenn. Gave us an awesome price and had plenty selection on kayaks. I actually ended up going the next day as well on received the same hospitality. Everything was great! Wish the kayaks were a little cleaner inside though. read more

My friends and I left here feeling very uneasy. Upon our arrival, we were not informed of the intense rapids that are very close to where you begin kayaking. We were informed when our group (13 of us) began drifting toward the rapids, and the employees were shouting at us from the shore to paddle back in. They never had us sign a waiver, and our friend was forced to pay them $300 cash for a lost kayak that ended up going over the rapids. It was an extremely dangerous situation. The employees neglected to inform us that the rapids were treacherous and nearby at the start of our trip. The cost of rentals is cheap for a reason. Sadly I don't think anyone in our group will be returning. Everything about the place is sketchy. read more

My wife & I decided to try them out after living in Hooksett for many years. Bob greeted us and was very cordial. It was a blast, we went out for an hour due to the fact this was our first time. We will definitely be back & recommend it to anyone interested! read more

This place is awesome! Most affordable kayaking in the area at $5/hr, with 5+ miles of the Merrimack River to explore. If you're lucky, you will catch a glimpse of some of the resident bald eagles and blue herons that frequent the area. The guys that own Edgewater are so friendly and accommodating. Lots of people there on any given weekend in the summer, but here's plenty of kayaks so you don't have to worry about being turned down if you just show up without calling first. The life vests are included in the $5/hr fee. There's also several spots if you head north on the river to hop out and stretch your legs. Definitely recommending to all of my friends. read more
