They have a wider selection of freshwater than the other stores, but fish prices are 4x as much, and they only guarantee their fish for 48 hours, as opposed to two weeks like most stores. Their equipment prices are considerably higher than what you can find online. But it is dedicated solely to fish and has an atmosphere like the old independent fish stores of years past, so kind of fun to shop in. I just don't buy from them unless it's something I haven't seen at the big box stores since they're so much more expensive. read more

I have been there 2 times recently. The first time took a long time to get help. My biggest concern is the money I spent to have majority of the fish die within a couple of weeks. I tested my water several times, acclimated them properly with poor results. I am not new to the fish I purchased , mollys, guppies and platy. I have gad fish for 20 years. not sure what has happened to the quality of the fish here. I've purchased fish in the past and other than being overpriced (my choice for purchasing) I've been happy with my purchases and the fish were happy and healthy....,until last week. I purchased 6 dwarf rainbow fish last Wednesday and by Friday I had my first death. By Sunday, 2 more passed. I took them back to the store and basically in no uncertain terms that I was somewhat responsible for their deaths. I went to the tank where the rainbows were and showed them that they could see that some of the fish had white spots on their mouth area which is what killed my fish. I did take 4 of them back home to replace the 3 I lost with 3 still alive at home. That night I lost 2 more and the last one started showing signs of mouth rot this Wednesday and passed today. So far the 4 I have in my QT tank are looking okay but being treated just in case. When I called back to let them know and that they should probably not sell any more until the tank is quarantined and treated the person basically blew me off saying okay and yeah we probably should do that. Buyer be warned! May not mean anything to them but to those of us who love fish, watching my fish die one by one has been quite heartbreaking! I will no longer purchase anything from Aquarium Adventures if this is how they run their business. read more

Go to aquarium store since I was a little girl! Incredibly helpful staff with a good assortment of fish. If you are worried about disease, I would do a quaratine tank prior to adding onto your main. I have always gotten very helpful service and I highly recommend using this store for your aquarium. However, I would say their tank prices can be a little extreme, and you should probably get a tank from petsmart or petco. read more

I stopped in today to get a plant to create leaves on my drift wood bonsai tree. After getting distracted for 10 minutes I made my way to the plant tanks. I was helped fairly quickly and the associate was super helpful in helping me find an alternative to Marimo moss balls. I also purchased a Betta from them a few months ago and he is doing great. Overall the store is very cool and while others may have had different experiences than I have, I am very satisfied with my visits/ purchases. read more

Aquarium Adventure Columbus is a large store with a lot to look at. We were shopping for items to start up an aquarium. I thought this store would be a good start. The store was packed. It was impossible to speak to an employee to ask questions. We then wandered the store ourselves and I began to realize that the prices were at times 50% more than what I could pay online. It did not give me the confidence to make any purchase. So we ended up leaving without making a purchase. We decided to continue to research, make some purchases online and try out another local aquarium shop that ultimately we were much happier with. All I'll say is do your research. read more

We were walking around the shopping center and came across Aquarium Adventure and decided to check it out. We were greeted by friendly staff as soon as we entered. I don't know a lot about maintaining an aquarium so these are observations from what would be a total beginner! The front part of the store had a large variety of tanks in different shapes and sizes. A number of them had been decorated with sample set ups - a note indicated that several had extra decor beyond what came in the kits, and sure enough, there were several rows of aquarium decor - plants, gravel/rocks, characters, and more. The back section is where all of the fish are! And not just fish, but additional critters like snails, tiny shrimp, axolotls, and even a large stingray! We really enjoyed looking in the tanks and watching the different fish/creatures. There's even a 'touch me tidepool' where you can gently interact with some of them. The staff was friendly and checked in occasionally to see if we needed anything. It seemed like a very nice store. There is plentiful parking in the shopping center lot. read more

Ignore the low reviews, these people know what they're talking about. There's a lot of science that goes into keeping an aquarium healthy- it seems the poor reviewers neglect to realize this. The store has a wonderful collection of aquatic friends. The store is extremely well staffed and informed. Staff will make recommendations based on your tank, but you need to communicate that you have questions. This may not be for some people, but I appreciate that they only offer help if asked. I'd also recommend joining their Fish Club for discounts! read more

They really take the hassle out of needing to know everything beforehand (thus the prices) and the staff is really knowledgeable. 5 stars because of their marine fish and coral selections! They're great at educating you on how to build your fish community and aren't there just to take your money. They will let you know if you're making a bad decision based on your aquarium setup (size, types of fish, types of corals, level of expertise, etc). Aquarium Adventure did an excellent job of a full cleaning of our backyard pond, which included finding and fixing a leak that we were unable to find, and dealing with some monster plants that had become overgrown. The pond is about 1,400 gallons and it was a 6-hour job, but Skylar and Derek were great. Looks so much better and we're now able to have healthy fish again. This would be a five-star review except for one gripe: It took quite a long time before I heard back from Steve, the guy who coordinates the pond work. But I'm willing to consider that he was just very busy. I did, however, have to call and text a few times before he got back with me to schedule the work. BEWARE: Majority of their fish have the Ick illness. (Please look it up if you are unaware of the illness) I purchased a couple fish for TWO SEPARATE tanks. The fish I purchased from the store all died within 4 days and the proceeded to get all of the other fish in both of my aquariums sick. This place isn't cheap, and I really wish they would take better care of their fish and take the necessary precautions to make sure their aquariums are clean and free of any illness that could kill your fish. I've added new fish here and there from stores, and never had an issue until I bought fish from this place. I was so excited to go to this place, completely trusting them thinning their fish were taken good care of in comparison to a petsmart or any store that has fish. I was rudely mistaken. So please be careful when purchasing fish from this place.. They aren't worth killing everything in your aquarium!! read more

we had Pond maintenance service done. 100 gallons, not big. The store charged labor for travel time and while they were writting up the invoice in their car for 20 minutes. They did about an hour or "labor" and we got charged for a little over 2 hours. Further, they charged 90/hour for labor PER PERSON! Not only was that not clearly explained, this job didn't require 2 people. We will not come back to this place or reconnect family and friends. read more

Wanted to add -- the membership is very worth it! It's a flat rate (10 for a year and 25 for a lifetime) and immediately starts saving you huge amounts on every purchase and pays for itself very quickly/right away. When I signed up I ended up saving $20 right off the bat, about 25% of my order! A few days ago I brought a betta that was in bad shape to aquarium adventure to see if they had any advice for me. They seemed confused as to what I was asking and ended up taking him to see if there was anything they could do. I called back a few days later to see if the fish was getting any better and the guy who answered the phone says "I would'nt know I wasn't there for the conversation". Staff came off very rude and did not seem eager to help or assist. read more

Large selection of tanks, equipment, food, supplies, and live stock. Prices on most items are on the high end. Example: fish medication was close to 50% higher that box stores. Notice that prices are increased right before sales so while the sales are good but not as good ad advertised. Seems deceptive. Stopped buying Foch from here unless I have a quarantine tank set up. Aquarium Adventure is AWESOME!!! The workers know exactly what they're talking about and have helped me on numerous occasions (picking out fish, helping diagnose my betta, recommending plants for my axolotl, and so much more!) I buy all my fish from there and they're been great! My axolotl is doing great and so are my clownfish! If I could, I would spend hours there just looking at the fish and stuff! Aquarium Adventure is a great place and their staff is so helpful! They have a great selection of freshwater and saltwater fish and lots of exotic animals! They are 100000 times better than the regular pet store and keep their fish in great homes! Only downside is that sometimes their fish die pretty quickly :(. They're expensive as well but selling live animals is not cheap so it makes sense ig. Okay. I'm from California and I may not know what the norm is here but the prices are ridiculous. More than twice what I pay for my fish. You can purchase a yellow tang for $45-70 in California. I was surprised to see a price tang $215 I almost had a heart attack. If you took that $215 to ca, you'd have 6-7 yellow tangs cause you'd be given a bulk buy deal. Blue hippo cost be $60 it was $125 here Fire shrimp cost me $20 costs $100 here A max clam cost me $100 costs $215 here I went to look for reef roids. For a 60g it was $45. On amazon for a 60g is $18. Honestly don't know how they sell anything. Also don't know how they expect anyone to be in the hobby with those prices. The store was clean and pleasing to the eye ... but boy was it expensive ... 2 stars: Pros: Clean Pleasing to the eyes Cons: "Your price is way to high you need to cut it" OT Genesis. Had a last minute salt water need and AAC came through for me. I had been on vacation and came home to my salt system desperately needing water. Called around and of course everyone was out and didn't open 'till noon anyway. AAC not only had in stock and ready, it was open at 10am saving the day and my very expensive salt system! Gorgeous, gorgeous store. Well stocked with beautiful, healthy looking fish and tons of employees (who I am convinced are there to make sure there are no dead fish in those overstocked tanks) but you have to go to a little stand and wait to get help. I was gifted an aquarium and gift card for $100 for my birthday. In the past eight months of dealing with this store my seventh visit was my last. The 48 hour warranty for fish is ridiculous. Literally every time I brought fish home from this store, not only did they die, so did fish I already had. I also got ick from this store. The employees are full of random bits of interesting knowledge, but they'd rather tell you that stuff then ask about what is actually in the customer's tank. I went in for help with an African Dwarf from that was not thriving and they did a water test, said it was 'perfect' and that it was an intestinal parasite so I needed a bottle of medicine that cost twice as much as the frog. I bought the medicine, the frog died. I did some YouTube surfing and found I had too many bottom feeders and that he actually starved. I wish they would have asked me about my set up, I am the novice here. Pretty sure they get their money from tanks and set ups, the fish cost at least twice as much as the ones at Petco, where they offer a 30 day warranty...that I rarely have to use. When I went back to take the fish back they would not return the fish because they said that in the system it did not show that we purchased it. We have spent a lot of money in this place in the last few weeks. My question is why is everything that we got showing up but not a 20 dollar fish. Needless to say they pissed me off. I have been there 3 times now, every time I have gotten fish and added them to my tank, I end up losing numerous fish. At first I thought it was just bad timing and random but I dont think so anymore. The fish there look so healthy but die so fast and them my fish I've had from other stores start dying also. All my water levels are normal there is no sign of ick or rot or anything else. I even quarantined them in another tank for a few days so the water they came in wouldn't get into my main tank ( and I put precautionary fungal treatment in low doses incase) just incase its their water and as soon as I transfer them they still start dying along with my fish. None of these are aggressive fish there is no fighting or anything. I am scared to buy anymore of their fish and with their policy being 48 hour deaths it doesn't do much. Extremely disappointed I want to like this store due to the amazing selection of fish and supplies they have but not at the cost of my tank and fish dying. I will no longer support their business. FYI I went 1/30/2021 Put them in my main tank 2/2/2021 as of right now (2/7/2021) I have 5 dead fish. The last time I had fish die before adding these new fish was 4 months ago and it was when I again purchased from here. This just doesn't seem random anymore. 2 stars for the selection but that's the only thing they have going for them. Dont waste your money on these fish your tank will probably die. read more

Aquarium Adventure used to be my favorite store. 15-20 years ago when I had a salt water tank. I used To visit the store just to look at the fish even after I no Longer had a tank. Since they moved to Hilliard it is farther away from me, but my memories of the old store made me think it's worth the trip to get back into the hobby. Boy was I wrong. First, fish are way overpriced. There are a lot of dead fish in all the tanks. Every fish I have gotten from there has died in a short amount of time. All my parameters have been good, so it's the fish from that store and not my tanks. I have had absolutely no fish deaths from other fish stores. My son and his girlfriend have had fish deaths from AA. If you buy plants make sure you was them off really good before you put them in your tank unless you want millions of snails. What really got me was the fact that one of the store associates (maybe a manager) kept mean mugging us because we had a hard time keeping a mask on my 4 year old grandson. She wasn't nice at all, in fact she was very rude. No social skills what so ever. Not even a friendly warning. She just kept following us and yelled every time the mask came off, it was almost hostile. it got to the point that I put everything down and I will never give them another dollar. That's too bad for them, because I put a lot of money into the hobby. My daughter decided after seeing all of our tanks she wanted to get into it. We were actually there to buy her tank. She was going to spend $400 on the tank. Plus the other things she would have needed to start a salt water. Plus she would have been back to buy live rock and fish. Other things that turned me away are managers reprimanding associates in front of customers. Also some times it's really hard to get help and some of them act as if they are too bothered to help you. I see A lot of others have the same complaints as I do, so I wouldnt even bother going there unless you are willing to end up with dead fish. read more

Based on Yelp reviews I went here to pick up supplies and on subsequent visits for water checks, advice and fish with my grandchildren. My tank is only a 5 gal. one but the staff at each visit were so helpful and gave me plenty of time and demonstrations to ease me into this new hobby. They are well supplied and have a lot of staff so even on busy days, you are helped right at the door to someone who can assist you. The day I bought my fish, they were collecting food for hunger and donors got 50% off their fish purchase. I didn't know and so had no food to donate. If I wanted to participate, they told me there was a dollar store just a few doors down, a win-win. My experiences have all been very positive and my grandkids love it there. read more

I will start out by saying that when AA was at their Sawmill location, we LOVED them! We bought all of our fish there because they were healthy and we never had any issues with them. Fast forward to the present at their new location. We have had NOTHING but issues. A couple months ago we bought an angel fish from there and shortly after our tank was completely wiped out with illness. This was a well established 125 gallon aquarium that has weekly water changes and all of its parameters checked. It has been set up for years with no issue. I'll have you know, they had the NERVE to say it was stress that caused it from our acclimation and not their fish that was the issue. They acted like we had no clue how to acclimate a fish and that we should do it slower next time. It was so insulting. I said I'd never return, but apparently I'm stupid. Earlier this week we popped in because we were in the area for dinner and they had big beautiful angels in stock. We have a large angel and it's hard to find angels the same size. I bought two and brought them home. Over the course of the next couple days we lost a pleco that I've had for 6 years, my original angel and a few of our tetras. One of the new angels is not acting normal so it's only a matter of time before it dies too. To top it off I have a MASSIVE infestation of Malaysian trumpet Snails now. They're basically the only thing that thrives from this shitty fish store. Just don't go. If you're willing to make a little bit of a drive there are other fish stores that are so much better than Aquarium Adventure. read more
