I came in to Cozy Cat Cottage on a saturday a few weeks ago, with the intention of adopting a kitty. I brought my letter of intent to adopt from my landlord, and my cat carrier *just in case* I went into the big room of all the loving furballs and met everyone to see their personalities and how they play, and there was a staff member explaining how their facility works and who they partner with and went out of their way to introduce a cat to me and explain their story (which was super neat, btw!!) and 30 minutes later I walked out of there with my new furbaby, after the *easiest* adoption process ever, as long as you are an honest and caring animal owner and know that animals are a lifetime pet (their lifetime and yours!) you will love this place. Highly recommend even if you just want to go meet some cats. read more

I have been going there since they opened 25? years ago. cats are taken well care. Cages are always clean. cats are very happy. litter boxes are cleaned at least twice a day if not more. workers and volunteers are so very friendly. People feel very welcomed there. First visit here was last Sunday. They had an abundance of cats in the back room, otherwise known as the adoption floor. We had a great time visiting with all the cats and kittens, and had a hard time choosing who we wanted to take home. The volunteers were all knowledgeable and we were able to complete an application and pay $50 down on a 3 month old kitten named Heston. I went back the next day with the balance adoption fee and a carrier. The average $100 fee covers vaccinations, testing, rabies tag, and microchip. They give you a folder of information, and a small bag of catfood. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely come here again. read more

My family had adopted our cats here for many years. I adopted a kitten a couple of days ago, and the adoption counselor couldn't have been nicer. For $100, I got a kitten who had been spayed, thoroughly vetted, and had all her shots. She had obviously been well-socialized by the person who fostered her litter. read more

This place refused to take in the loving stray young male cat I found, sent a short reply after I profusely pleaded for help and sent pictures of the all black kitty I found. I even asked for resources if they couldn't help and all they said was "we are unable to accept any more cats, go to adopt a pet." Just horrible. Shame on you Cozy Cat Cottage Adoption Center. Kitty was discriminated against and denied a chance at life by them because he was a stray. Be honest and post on your website that you will refuse all stray cats instead of wasting Good Samaritans time and letting them down. No donations will be made from me! read more

Imagine the pain and grief of going through two days of excitement and anxiety for the arrival of a new family member to just be told that someone else has taken her away from you and there's nothing you can do. She was the perfect kitten for me and my gf. We loved everything about her, I couldn't find any flaws with her. She was beautiful, playful, and loving. We were so excited when we put down the deposit and couldn't wait to gather the supplies to bring her home. While trusting the words of you guys that you would hold her to the agreed days that we would come pick her up, baring two whole days of excitement we were told that she is gone. When we arrived we were greeted by your volunteer that was still joking around saying "Oh, I'm in trouble" then breaking the news to us as if it was a joke. At first I genuinely thought it was a joke and thought she was poking fun at our excitement. but then we were told that due to paper work misplacement she was gone and we should just look for another cat. ANOTHER CAT!?!? This is not just a lost of a pet but a family member that we were promised. This response felt very disingenuous of the mistake that you guys made but we had to suffer the consequence. We spend the two days from putting in the deposit to going to pick her up in excitement. We didn't wanted to just go hastily to a local pet store to pick up the necessary items to bring her home. Instead, we wanted to prepare our place and buy the best things that we could get for her. So when she arrived she would have everything she needed and the best environment for her. We spend hundreds and hours on hours preparing this for her just be jokingly told that she is picked up by someone else. This is one of the most pain I've felt in such a long time. This "rescue" won't accept anymore cats/kittens for shelter but are turning down loving owners for adoption because they just moved into a new apartment. to be able to adopt you have to live at your current residence for at least 4 months which is a completely uncalled for rule. read more

I do not recommend this business whatsoever. When I walked in I was greeted by a rude women saying that they don't keep their website up to date of the cats you see posted on their website so they won't necessarily be there when you come to see them. I was not asked if I needed any help. Two cats bit me and when I did find a cat that was friendly another family had been looking at it, and after I said I would adopt it they said that the other family "have first choice". They were deciding between two cats and chose the one I had in my arms and took it away from me. It's disappointing about how the whole visit was handled because I had heard great things about cozy cat cottage previously. read more

I love kitties and the Cozy Cat Cottage goes above and beyond to rescue as many unwanted, abandoned and abused cats as possible and to keep them happy, healthy and alive for as long as it takes to find them a home. They even rescue cats up for euthanization from other facilities, such as the Humane Society. This NO-KILL shelter is located just north of Columbus, in Powell and the staff/ volunteers are extremely loving and caring of every cat. The facility is very clean and the extremely reasonable adoption fees include tests, shots and spay or neutering. Kittens are slightly more expensive to adopt and as fun as a wind-up toy! Anyone over the age of 60, can adopt an adult cat for free! As an owner of two rescued cats (and one of our two dogs also is a rescue), it's tough for me to see so many unwanted cats roaming the streets and ending up in a facility that euthanizes. There are a variety of ways in which to help the Cozy Cat Cottage. Of course cash-money is most desirable, but time and volunteer effort is just as necessary and much appreciated. If you can afford to sponsor a cat, your donation helps offset the costs of shots, spay or neuter and medical care. Or shop at their Cat Boutique for an assortment of toys and gifts for cat lovers. A wish list is also posted on the website for those of you who might want to purchase a few things for the facility, ranging from kitty litter to cat food to basic cleaning supplies. I like to buy cleaning products in bulk at Sam's Club and then set aside a few rolls of paper towels, disinfectant wipes and sponges aside for a CCC care package. I also buy a case of wet cat food and throw in a few tins for the sick kittens. It's not much, but every little bit adds up. The wife and I just drove 45 miles to drop a two and a half old a kitten who apparently was prematurely born after it was dropped from its Mommy and the wife cut the umbilical cord away along with the placenta we dropped him off with Cindy who assures us she will take great care of the little guy read more

After submitting an application, I came back the next day with the cash deposit (they waited until I submitted the application to tell me cards were not accepted. Upon coming back, they had to search for my application for 10 minutes only to then deny me due to having recently moved roughly four months ago. They stated that since I moved it was evidence of "instability in the home." Apparently people aren't allowed to move to different locations, a beautiful kitten was denied a great home over some arbitrary director's decision who never spoke to me at all during the entire process. read more

I reached out to cozy cat for help with fixing my stray that I found & her 6 kittens.they didnot tell me at the time that I could not have any of them back.i didnot sign a release for them to keep them. I am broken hearted now bcuz the owner informed me they were adopted out.than told me not to message them again.she treated me as tho me asking about my own kitties was a burden to her.basically I was dismissed.i rescued the mama from the street & took her in .I stayed with het when she gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens.i raised them until it was time to be fixed.i couldn't afford 7 cats so she took that & said that is a big factor to them when deciding OP if i am allowed to have them back.they stole my kitties from me.instead of helping me with the kitties they just took them & kept me from ever seeing them again. I know the kitties were traumatized as well bcuz they were used to being with me.they slept with me every nite.i couldn't afford to fix 7rite at the moment but I definitely afford 2 or 3 of them.i even offered to pay to adopt some back & the owner said they are gone.! I don't understand why they had to adopt out all of mine.its not like they don't have a lot of kitties without a home.instead they took mine from their home where they were loved so much and adopted them out.and I did not give them permission. i believe in their cause.i think it's a wonderful thing to save all these stray cats & find them good ,safe loving homes.thats what I do when I can.i just don't understand why they would need to steal mine & dismiss me as if I had nothing to do with them being there in the first place.i am a cat lover too obviously.i especially loved them .they had become my family.i believe that bcuz i am a senior citizen on a fixed income. And not living in a ritzy neighborhood it put me in their category of not worthy to have a pet.not even worthy of a response . We are very upset with the treatment from Cozy Cat Cottage! Here is what happened We have spoken with Cozy Cat Cottage previously about this situation. We dropped off a little 6 week old baby boy (kitten) September 3, 3 months ago. They named him Phelan (Baby Blue is what we called him). We have been calling and volunteering checking to see when he will be neutered. We have asked you to let us adopt him back from you guys once he was neutered. You told us you can't hold a kitten for us. Fine, I understand that. However, we called and volunteered and checked on Phelan for 3 months. Once the staff tells me he doesn't weight enough to be neutered. One week I was told he was adopted and then they changed it and said "we use to have 2 named Phelan and 1 was adopted and the 2nd doesn't weigh enough yet. We were told to check back in a week. I've also been told by the staff there that they have no idea. First off how can you not know all you have to do is look him up or even look us up. Do you not want to adopt him back to us? We will pay your $100. At the time when we found him he was still so young he required us feeding him with a bottle every 3 hours and we just couldn't do it and didn't know how to care for a kitten that young. It has nothing to do with us having room in our house or hearts for him because he had already taken our hearts. We have loved that little guy and still do which is why we were trying to get him back. I didn't know what the problem was and continued asking them to please tell me if if they still had him and when he will be neutered? How much does he weigh? If it's true that he doesn't weigh enough he's 4 months old how can he not weigh enough to be neutered? We found him and med vet has estimated his age to be 6 weeks. They had had him for 3 months that makes him at least 4 months. He weighed 8oz according to Med Vet when we had him 3 months ago. Is he not eating ok, is his health ok? After all this effort they finally responde... Cozy Cat Cottage response... I found Phelan. He was adopted to a nice lady in November. He had his neuter surgery on 11/17/22 and went home on the 19th. For 3 months we kept asking about Phelan checking on him trying to find out when he'd get neutered so we could adopt him. They just kept telling us he didn't weigh enough or they didn't know anything. They blatantly lied to us. Don't take you cats or kittens to this place. Cat welfare is a much better place. read more

When my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to adopt a cat last year, we visited many of the animal shelters in Columbus during our search, but we kept going back to the Cozy Cat Cottage because we liked the facility so much. Adopting a cat is kind of a tricky thing. Dogs usually have very visible personalities, but cats that seem docile are sometimes completely insane, and the ones that are bouncing off the walls at the shelter might be cuddly and sweet once they're in a different environment. Some of the shelters I visited didn't make much of an effort to help me choose. At one location, when I told an employee that we were looking for a kitten or young cat, she simply turned around, opened up a cage, and thrust a cat into my arms, saying, "Here. Take this one. He's young." (LADY, I'm picking out a creature who's going to live with me for a very long time, not buying livestock.) At Cozy Cat, it's very obvious that they not only care about how their animals are treated while they're living at the shelter, but also about how they'll be treated after they're adopted. The facility is clean, and they allow the well-behaved adult cats to wander around so that they're not cooped up all day, and so that visitors get the chance to play with them and observe their character. The staff is friendly and informative, and they're able to tell you about each individual cat. The adoption process is very simple, but they do a full interview with each potential adopter, to make sure that the cat will be going home to a loving and safe environment. They also require that you take the cat to the vet within the first few days after the adoption, to make sure that it's healthy, though they spay and neuter all of their kittens, and all of their adult cats have had their required shots. I adopted a cat on 6/25/2020 and the cat passed away yesterday of cat leukemia (even though they promised that she had tested negative.) I put more than $200 in her in the short 6wks and loved and cared for her until the very end. I wouldn't take her back to them after the diagnosis as she wouldn't be with me long and i didn't want her to be uprooted again nor did I want her to die alone. So I pureed food and fed her with a syringe. i didn't want her to die unloved in a cat mill. These cat people pretend to be doing the right things before allowing someone to adopt but I believe all the testing and quarantine they say they do is a sham and the medical screening is void! Please think twice before adopting at the Cozy Cat Cottage as you may not have your new furry friend for long! So to answer your question I adamantly ask you to run from this establishment! The only reason I am giving this place one star is because I can't choose zero stars! read more

You would never even believe that a place like this exists. They have a no-kill policy which is a no-brainer to support. When you walk in there are just cats and kittens everywhere. You would think it'd smell like a giant litter box but the place is super clean, I've never been in to the Cottage and had a time where I didn't see at least 1 of the volunteers cleaning. Cindi has a huge heart and all of the cats are clearly very well loved and cared for. Many of them come from horrible situations and Aimee, Cindi and the crew do an amazing job. If you're looking to adopt a cat into the family, this is the place to go. Their rates are incredible and there are cats and kittens of all ages. I love this place - I've gotten two cats from here, and they have truly been great companions. I know for a fact that they take care of their cats, as a looong time ago I volunteered here. This was way back when they were in a different building. Anywho, I know the kitties here get lots of love, and that they are supported by an attentive staff. Sometimes I just come by to give the cats even more love and play time. If you're thinking about adopting a cat, you should definitely check this place out. Oh for the love of God-I went in there in a state of horrendous grief a short time after losing my cat to a rare, incurable disease. These ladies I encountered were truly sweet and committed to providing a no kill shelter. I found out about them when I was in Petsmart and read the bios of the cats available for adoption at the store. I wanted to meet them in person since I had my eye on a cat and would be leaving town. I had read so many wonderful things about this organization and I drove over to their space in charming Powell, Ohio. The facility was clean, very organized and the cats awaiting permanent homes were well cared for and seemed content. I spent time interacting with all the cats and people seeking to adopt their own cat. The volunteers approved my application and I was able to return to Petsmart to pick up my new baby. Adoption fee was very reasonable and I received paperwork and vaccine, neuter and micro-chip records. I'm still grieving the passing of my old cat, but my new boy named Higgons was saved from abandonment by this shelter, and I couldn't be more grateful. read more

We have visited cozy cat several times and I have always been impressed with the facility and the care the staff gives. The place has a lot of cats but it was sill clean and not nearly as smelly as one would imagine for having so many cats in one building. The staff took their time to answer all my questions and showed me particular cats they thought might work for our family best. But they also gave us space and let us interact and bond with the cats as well. Great balance. It was a great experience. This is a great organization. Cozy Cat Cottage is a wonderful, loving, cat rescue operation. Given their limited space and resources it is amazing how many cats they have nursed back to health and rehomed over the years. I love that they are a no-kill shelter...every creature deserves a chance. While sadly not all can be saved, Cozy Cat gives every single one of them a chance at life and will never turn their back on a sick kitty. We have been visitors of the Cozy Cat Cottage since Cindi opened it on Grace Dr about 16 years ago. Cindi has a love of cats and does not allow any to face a death chamber. We adopted a four year old cat in 2013 that was removed from hoarders and she is the biggest sweetheart. Cindi's staff helped us select one that loves dogs and we couldn't have selected a better cat. Cindi helped us with some litter box issues and we now have two litter boxes (side by side) and it immediately resolved the issue. read more

They helped us when we found an old male cat near death....they took him in and gave him the medical care he needed, and kept him until he finally found a home! I found CCC during an event in which they were represented and stopped by to begin to think about adopting a cat. I went in several times and was always struck by the supreme kindness and respect shown to the cats. I began visiting frequently enough that I felt I should volunteer. From my experience as a volunteer, I can speak to a couple of things here. First, to the person who tried to return a cat. Cozy Cat always accepts their own cats and as they also always microchip, there is no doubt as to whether or not a cat is from Cozy Cat. Second, it easy for anyone working in animal rescue to have days where they have just seen too much and had to advocate for animals that were abused, neglected or abandoned. The people at Cozy Cat are very nice, but they are also very protective of cats who have had enough to deal with and who deserve the best possible home. Their resources are limited and they (unlike many others) are a completely no-kill shelter. Cats live at CCC until they are adopted. That means that with limited space and funds, they must sometimes turn cats away and it is not an easy choice to make. There is not a single person associated with CCC that would not save every cat, if only they could. The cage-free environment and the obvious love and care for the cats sets it apart. I "shopped around" for volunteer opportunities and there is nowhere that I would rather spend my time. read more

CCC was recommended by a friend. We wanted to adopt a kitten as a Christmas gift for the kids (our whole family really). As soon as we walked in there was another customer in the "lobby" and not an employee to be found. After several minutes someone came up to help. We walked around the back (filled with cats and it stunk) and looked at some of the cats. We found a kitten we liked and spent some time in the office with her playing. We decided to fill out an application. After several minutes an employee walked in and said "you're denied". No questions, no anything! I asked why. She said "because you put on your application you "surrendered two cats to the Humane Society". I tried to explain that my job moved us and we tried to find somewhere in Marysville we could live with pets but couldn't find anything (this occurred over 10 years ago). What am I supposed to do quit my job? We didn't leave them on the side of the road (in fact we rescued both of them and were heart-broken we couldn't take them with us). This employee would hear none of it! She was very rude and judgmental. We asked to talk to her boss and she said she wasn't there, but "she'll say the same thing". I give this place kudos for rescuing cats but otherwise this place is awful! read more

We found Cozy Cat Cottage through a flier at our veterinarian's office. We had some questions concerning adopting another cat after losing ours to a serious illness, so we emailed CCC. We had no prior relationship with them and yet they replied immediately and took the extra time needed to review our situation. We were so impressed that we decided to visit and see if the facility was as nice as we thought the staff were. We were greeted right away. Everyone was very busy cleaning and working, but they took the time to offer us a smile and a hello as we looked. They had many cats to choose from and yet the staff and volunteers knew them all as if they were their own personal pets. The cats were well cared for and had endless distractions to keep them entertained. The staff and volunteers were caring and helpful. They wanted to not only help us in our search, but also to make sure our new family member was the perfect fit for us!! read more

Cozy Cat Cottage is the BEST! Anyone who says anything less than that obviously does not know what they are talking about. The director Cindi Clum is extraordinarily dedicated and hard-working, and always puts the best interest of cats first before anything else. Sometime she has to make tough decisions but she always does what she believes is best. The facility is clean and staffed by wonderful, knowledgable people who obviously truly care about the feline residents. There is a tremendous team of dedicated volunteers as well. This is a no kill facility which believes no cat should be euthanized just because it does not have a home. There are 1 million homeless cats in Franklin County alone and while CCC cannot take them all, Cindi takes in as many as can reasonably fit in her facility without putting the health and comfort of any cat or kitten in jeopardy. I am extremely proud of what this organization does and would highly recommend that CCC be anyone's first stop when looking for a new furry friend. Come see for yourself! read more

I got my first cat from Cozy Cat Cottage, Jillian. When I went into the shelter I was looking for a kitten and I had expressed a desire to declaw the kitten. The adoption counselor was amazing and nicely suggested cats already declawed (I later learned how horrid declawing is). Jillian had been found pregnant and gave birth to 7 kittens in Cozy Cats care. She has been the best cat. What's amazing is the community that is behind this group. About a week after I posted on Facebook some pictures of Jillian, her foster mom who is also a director at Cozy Cat sent me two flash drives with pictures of Jillian and her babies and videos. This sort of attention and love for the animals stands out. I later adopted two other cats including one who had to have all of his teeth removed due to a severe illness. Cozy Cat didn't give up on Franco and spent the large amount of money it cost to have teeth removed on a cat. They didn't put him down. They loved and cared for him and went above and beyond to save his life. Also, the facilities are amazingly clean. I knew I wanted to get involved and started volunteering about two months after adopting Jillian. In my years as a volunteer I have witnessed countless times the main director and owner, Cindi, save lives of severely hurt and sick kitties. The directors are compassionate and careful. Their love for the cats is what makes Cozy Cat Cottage, in my opinion, the best no-kill shelter is all of central Columbus. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The volunteers acted as though we were bothering them with our questions however they were more than helpful to a lady who brought in some donations. However the biggest issue I have with CCC is the fact that we were denied an adoption merely because we were forced to surrender a pet over 10 yrs ago due to circumstances out of our control. I completely understand that they don't want to grant adoptions to people who will just willingly surrender an animal because it no longer fits their life. However we were never given the chance to explain our circumstances and that we tried everything we could think of to find our pets homes. We posted flyers everywhere possible, wrote to all of the vets in the area hoping someone would have room for them. (This was before social media) No luck. So rather than just turn them out into the cold to fend for themselves, we did the only thing we knew at the time to ensure that they would be kept fed and warm: we surrendered them to the only place in the area at the time that would take them - Humane Society. However to CCC, doing this makes us horrible people. Shame on you Cozy Cat Cottage!! read more

I used to work down the parking lot from the shelter and I had been dreaming for years about having my own cat. One boring day at work I was on break and I decided to go in. It was a bad idea... all the cats were so lovely and everyone was wonderful... and I still wasn't ready to find a cat. I found the perfect cat... but I had to leave it. A year later when I was ready to find a cat, the kitty I had found before was gone but the staff was very helpful in directing me to the perfect cat. I came in looking for a tabby kitten. I expressed I was going to get the cat declawed and they politely informed me they had cats that were already declawed if I was interested in looking at adult cats. Well trying to save money at the time, I didn't mind getting an adult cat. They took me around to find each cat that was declawed. I picked up my kitty and she started purring in my arms instantly. I was in love. I had come in for a kitten but I left with the best adult cat in the world who wasn't a tabby but a calico. I am so thankful that the CCC educated me not to get my cat declawed but had me find cats already declawed so I wouldn't hurt any of the un-declawed cats. They also educated me in the fact that declawing is like cutting off your finger to the first knuckle (I never knew that!). They gave me a packet with coupons for litter and cat treats, sent me home with food for my cat so I could ease her into our food at home without making her sick. Then they urged me to post pictures on facebook so they could keep track. I did that and found love in a community that has changed my life. I volunteer now at the shelter and they are a very loving kind family. Everything they do is for the good of the cats. No matter what they do they are always thinking of the cats. They may not be able to take strays everyday because of how many cats they have but they feel sad every time they are asked. They are a no-kill shelter, so they can't accept cats if they are at capacity... they have to focus on the cats they have already committed to. This doesn't stop them from wishing they could save all the kitties they come across. Lastly, they have helped me save two cats this year. I found a kitten at my hometown and they helped me get her placed in a shelter. I also had a neighborhood stray who was un-neutered. Not only do they provide low-cost spaying and neutering, the director helped me make sure that he was healthy and up-to-date on his vaccinations with very little cost to me. My mother passed away and she had adopted a cat from Cozy Cat several years ago. No one in the family could keep it so we contacted them. They said they would check to make sure the kitty was adopted from them. It was, and they gladly took the kitty back. I appreciated this so much. The place is wonderful. I know people get angy when they get answers they don't like. I would reccommend this place to anyone. Hands down they are the cleanest and nicest place we have ever visited. read more
