Pets Without Parents is a non-profit that is located on a side street in a house. The place is falling apart and reeks of urine but the point of this place is not to be over looked! They are a non kill shelter and have a ton of animals who are dying for forever homes. Their adoption process is simple and well worth putting an app in. Most animals, it seems, have an application put in for them but a lot of times they are rejected. So put your app in and wait & see. If you get approved but the animal you wanted gets adopted then you have your choice of anyone next time you come in and you don't have to apply again. The kitten condo is upstairs; there's two rooms so don't over look it! The 'kitten' condo is full of adults who are in need of loving homes. I think it's worth it to add that they have special's going on in Oct $50 normally for an adult cat is now only $25. Also, the condo rooms are free range so the cats get to walk around and play, something I don't take lightly since it's key after you adopt one for them to be socialized. On the main floor they have their dogs and cats and some kittens. Most of the kittens had a few apps in for them but we were told more kittens come in all the time. We intend to return in a little while and check out the new ones. The people here are very nice too. They are always busy and when we first showed up no one was around to greet us. We just weren't sure if we needed to sign in (like the Humane soc does) or if we could just go and walk around. Overall a great place to go if youre looking to adopt an animal. They have many to pick from.

Anyways, my friend's kid is a little loud and she's excited to see the cats. My friend asks her daughter to be quiet because the kitties don't like it loud and the worker was behind them staring them down and nodding yes. like sir? I wanted to go into one of the rooms to see a cat, when i asked he rolled his eyes and let me go into the room but made it very clear he didn't want my friends kid in there. what if she was looking for a cat? Do you want these cats to find loving homes or not???!! Lastly, what happened before we were just done. I had walked in the shy room twice, once by myself and once with my boyfriend. The first time i went in they left me alone i was just looking at the cats, didn't pet them if they didn't want to be pet. I respect animals and i can tell if a cat wants me to not touch them. the second time i walked in with my boyfriend and one of the workers followed us in there and got in my boyfriend's face saying "this is the shy cats room don't get in their faces" mind you we weren't even that close to them just looking to see everyone that was in there. he then gets closer and says "Im serious" like bro we weren't even doing anything besides looking and letting them sniff us. anyways, whoever was working at 12 today with the mask you were amazing and helpful. the other guy up front a little older with curly hair you were extremely rude and disrespectful to all of us that walked in. Go somewhere else for a cat!!!

I was given paperwork stating that Charlie was safe to be around children. Based on what ultimately occurred, I believe that paperwork was inadequate and misleading. At the time of adoption, Charlie was sent home on four Trazodone pills per day. I was told by the shelter's veterinarian Zac, that this medication was for depression and anxiety, and that it was okay to wean him off of the medication. When I followed that guidance and began tapering the medication, Charlie's behavior changed dramatically. He exhibited clear behavioral issues, became aggressive, and ultimately bit my daughter. Based on how quickly his behavior escalated once the medication was reduced, I believe the Trazodone may have been used to mask underlying aggression rather than disclose a serious behavioral risk to a household with a child. The police were called immediately. When officers contacted Franklin County Animal Control, the response was deeply concerning. The agency argued with the responding police officer and initially refused to send anyone out, even after being informed that a dog had bitten a child. Only after a supervisor was requested and the officer insisted that the dog be picked up immediately did they take action. This situation was mishandled at every level--behavioral disclosure, medication guidance, paperwork accuracy, and emergency response. Families rely on shelters to be honest and transparent so they can make informed decisions that protect their children and homes. That did not happen here. Charlie was euthanized. Based on this experience, I strongly do not recommend using this shelter.

Unfortunately, there are way too many strays and neglected animals in Columbus- but lucky for them,…read morethere are organizations such as Pet Promise to help in good, little ways with this big, ugly situation. Pet Promise is part of a national non-profit organization that has been around since 1996 and run by volunteers. This no-kill animal welfare organization does not support euthanasia, especially as a method of population control. Like so many rescue organizations, Pet Promise does not have a physical shelter. Money is being raised secure a no-kill sanctuary where rescues will be sheltered until they are found homes. Until then, but rescues are cared for in generous foster homes until they are permanently adopted. Some of the services they provide are to rescue stray animals from the streets and from animal shelters where they will be euthanized; they provide medical care to neglected, abused and injured animals; and they rehabilitate hard-to-adopt animals due to age, medical condition, or breed. I take personal interest in cats and really appreciate the efforts Pet Promise makes to provide spay and neuter services for feral cats. If you have or know of regular strays in your area, Pet Promise will provide the traps, if you are willing to catch them and take them to a designated vet. Pet promise picks up the tab for the spay or neuter. All you have to do is trap them and re-release them in the same place after the surgery. This helps to drastically reduce the number of unwanted animals in our community - and every cat counts! Pet Promise also provides financially strapped pet owners with food, medical care, and other assistance, so struggling people do not have to give up their four legged family members. I've done volunteer work for Pet promise, and will vouch that they are good group of people who care tremendously for the well-being of Columbus's furry friends.

However, after I explained the heartbreaking situation--including the elderly owner with dementia--the communication completely derailed. Instead of offering further support, the representative accused the original pet owner of neglect, even suggesting legal action. The representative demanded the pet owner's personal details to pursue legal action, even though the facts were incorrect. It's crucial to note that not having a cat spayed is not a crime--especially since this was a stray The elderly took in. I told Cynthia that I like to look forward not backwards and asked if she could help with the kittens or not! Nothing about helping the Kitten was even mentioned again from her initial reply. P After that, communication stopped completely. I also checked other reviews, and it's clear this is a pattern--poor communication and no follow-through. If people are donating to this organization, they need to be held accountable, as their promise fell flat. I do not recommend them."

I have 2 cats whose food I am very persnickety about (must be high protein, organic, no fillers, lowish carb, etc). There is plenty of store front parking. I was greeted by a beautiful friendly black and white Border Collie mix (? sorry) and a gentleman who was amazingly knowledgeable about everything in the store. We spoke for a long time about cat food, cat health problems, treats, etc. and I left feeling fantastic that such a store exists just seconds from my home. This place isn't huge but makes great use of the space with a large selection of raw food and treats ranging from a raw "bar" with treats (chicken hearts, chicken feet, salmon skins, etc on a choose-your-own a la carte basis) to refrigerated and frozen items. There are many different high quality kibbles for dogs and cats in addition to toys, some beds, leashes, you name it. I just cannot emphasize enough how much my experience today resonated with their motto of "Feed your pet like you give a damn.". I did not feel like I was being "sold to" but instead educated in a friendly non-pushy manner from a fellow caring pet owner. I encourage those who also care deeply about their dogs and cats to come learn and explore the place. They're open 11a-3p all 7 days of the week during this CoVid stuff.
