Covid-19... so while most business are not open and workers are not able to go to work or pay their bills, this shop is open which is great for them and their employees. Been here once before and liked the store but wasn't feeling warm and fuzzy about the staff then either, but clean and lots of supplies. However, with everything going one in the world today I would expect that they would at least have a good attitude towards their customers and be grateful to be open. NOT THE CASE. I wish they would shut down during this time and let the other business that want and deserve the business to have it. Case in point, went in to get a skin care product for a pet pig. I asked a lady there what she would recommend and her snobby response was "I don't know we don't do pigs!" Blew me a way.. I walked out. THANK YOU to them however, I would have never found Reynolds on Madison street. They were over the top polite, help me find that and other supply's. I ended up spending $500 there. Must be nice to be open and want the business. I get it, everyone has a bad day, might be going through something what ever, but then don't go to work especially when the entire world would love the opportunity to be at work making money! I have purchased five snakes from them and three of the had terrible mites. This puts all my other 20 snakes at risk and causes me a big burden of eradicating them. When I brought this to the owner's attention (derek) all he said was "must have been a bad shipment".. are you serious? How about you put some effort into quarantining these animals before adding them to the sale floor? It puts every other reptile for sale at risk plus buyers that end up with these extremely annoying hitchhikers. I was also hoping for some compensation or a free bottle of mite spray for gods sake. The owners will literally never give out any type of compensation, discounts or negotiation on animal prices. It doesn't matter how long you have been a loyal customer, EVEN after I should have never given them business again after the unpleasant experiences I have had. read more

I love the store and when we first walked in they were so friendly. Let us play with kittens so we put a deposit down on one. Today, 3 weeks later we picked her up. We are a bit disappointed. They weren't as friendly, that's fine, maybe they were busy. We took our kitten home after $65 dollars for her. She had flea eggs and some fleas, urine smell stuck to her hair. I would hope for at least paying that much for a kitten, they could have bathed her and had her nice, clean and ready in a box. They did give 1st shots a dewormer. We love her though and they've got cute kittens and dogs. read more

If I could give them no star I would. My daughter bought a Canary from this pet store for my 72nd Birthday. It cost her $99.00 plus tax and the clerk told her it was a male singer. I've had the bird for almost 4 weeks and not a peep from it. I finally called the store to exchange the bird for one that sings and they told me males and females are all the same price and they give no guarantees that their birds will sing. Angie also told me the bird won't sing until Spring (canaries sing all year unless they are moulting) and they don't do exchanges and only give money back if the bird dies within 72 hours of purchase. This is an unscrupulous pet store that over charges on their pets and offers no guarantee on pets they sell be careful what you buy from them. read more

The housing of the rats are not okay, the rats were left in a clear box window nonairy environment, glass bins like this are fine for mice and other rodents with low ammonia intake. But since rats are larger they contain a higher intake of ammonia. Leading into them needing a wire cage A rat cage should be at least 90cm long, by 60cm deep, by 150cm tall. With a wire spacing of 0.4 - 0.6 inch / 1 - 1.5 cm. high levels of ammonia in the air with animals that are already prone to respiratory issues are not a good mix. Please improve the housing of these rats before selling them to customers. read more

When I am in town, we always go to the pet store and have a great time seeing all the new things available, such as lizards, rabbits, puppies, etc. They always look very healthy and extremely clean. I just called and spoke with "Little Derek" and he helped me make my grandson a very happy birthday kid with new surprise KOI fish! My son won a goldfish at the fair and instead of going to wal mart we decided to go here instead to support local business. In a couple days we spent 200+ dollars on aquarium and accessories. The young girl working was great and helpful and she up sold my husband which was great!!! She got him to buy all kinds of stuff that he wasn't on planning so you have a great employee!! But the second visit was not good! It was the female owner. We were trying to find out gallon size of the tank we bought and she seemed irritated when we asked to her to look for us. We went here to get a couple of pet rats. The customer service was really good, very friendly people. However, I purchased two female rats 2 and 4 months old, intending to only have two rats. 3 weeks later, we had 18 rats. Both rats were pregnant, and one was too young to give birth. She and her babies died. They did not give any indication that the rats could be pregnant. Male and female rats need to be separated after they are weened, and these were clearly not. I did not give the rest of the rat pups back to Aquarium & Pets so the girls would not face the same fate as my late friend. Make sure the males and females are separated. read more

The reptile care is horrid. All different species mixed in together that are NOT even slightly similar in care requirements. Some left with no hides, completely stressed out. Old feces left in with most, overfilled enclosures, sickly skinny ones. It may look good from the perspective of someone not educated on reptiles, but for experienced keepers it is atrocious. All the other animals for sale such as birds and fish look okay but the reptiles are suffering...I really hope they will fix this. I've talked with others that feel the same way. The reptiles are quite overpriced as well, at least care for them properly if going to ask so much. read more

It's hard to find a pet store with people that care about your pet. We have had our parrots groomed there for over 10 years. Driving from out of town. They handle the birds gently and the birds are not freaked out. As has happened a other places. Including Vets. One of my favorite pet stores! The staff is young, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the care for the animals they adopt out! There's no lazy-bones in this shop, as I can tell by the way they are always running around, helping customers and keeping the place fresh and tidy. The pets are healthy and the fish I adopted are still alive and kicking! Or swimming. They educated me on how to adapt them to new waters, and for the first time I'm not instantly shocking my fish to death. They even tolerated all of my tedious questions and requests for orders and perpetual price checking - patient customer service was endlessly provided. As a pet lover and pet store cynic.. I was pleasantly surprised and faith restored to the notion that a pet store could provide quality care and genuine concern for the pets sold at a "store". I moved to the Red Bluff area a couple years ago, and needed to continue to feed my parrot it's customary diet. I saw this store while shopping at Raleys, and decided to stop in and see if they stocked my parrots usual food. They didn't, but offered to order it for me and to continue to order it as long as I routinely picked it up. So I agreed and they did exactly what they promised. My parrot now has a new supply of food !! THEN !!! While I was there to pick up a new bag, a new group of parrots arrived!! I , being my usual suspicious of pet store self, was intrigued and went over to survey the new brood. Having been around bird breeders in the past, and knowing how to spot "puppy mill birds" I was pleasantly surprised to see how social these birds were, and yet again my "faith" was restored. Since then I have purchased one of these birds, and have continued socializing with all of them pending their eventual purchase. While interacting with the owners and staff here, it is plain to see they are 100% committed to these pets, and strive to place them in good homes. They go so far as to bring in outside vets to care for and evaluate their pets in order to provide a happy and healthy environment for them prior to sale.
