Like any typical dad, I had to go much bigger. After finding the tank I wanted, I called several local "upscale" fish and pet stores in Westchester, but no one had it in stock. I even called the manufacturer, and they told me that Beital's Aquarium was definitely the place I needed to contact. I called the next business day, and what I believe was the owner answered. Right away, he started calling his supplier while I was still on the phone trying to track down the exact tank I wanted. That level of service was impressive. Within about 15 minutes, everything was handled and I was able to place the order. He even matched online pricing. Since that first phone call, I've been making the drive from Westchester to shop there for some really amazing fish. Anytime I have questions--or even random algae problems--Craig, the owner, has been an absolute expert and incredibly helpful. You can tell he has years of experience, and it makes a huge difference for customers like me. Great store, great service, and an owner who truly knows his stuff. Highly recommend.

The owner actually babysat my little fish. Yes he did. Three years ago we bought our first house in Levittown and I didn't know what to do with my 20 gallon tank and five little fish who at that point had lived past a year. He said he would actually keep our fish in a separate tank until we set up the tank in our house. When we went back to pick them up a few days later, there they were, swimming around happily. And - NO CHARGE for the babysitting. Well, unfortunately, our tank is now empty but one day we will set it up again and I will be back to Total Aquariums. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because sometimes the store smells weird and looks a little dingy. I've also noticed people bring their dogs in and don't clean up after them sometimes, and the staff isn't always able to clean it up right away so that's a little gross. But that's a minor issue, and to be expected in a pet store.

All of the puppies sold here come from puppy mills in PA. Her site explains her affiliations to…read morethe mills: PA Pet Breeders Associations & Pennsylvania Dept of Agriculture. She is a puppy broker who purchases the dogs from the mills for a small amount and then sells them to you for hundreds more. She is in the business of animal abuse...that is how she makes her money. The parents of these puppies languish in the mills in wire cages until they die. The female dogs are bred over and over again until they die or are given to the rescues because they can no longer produce. PLEASE do not purchase dogs from pet stores or brokers. Go to a legitimate breeder found through the breed clubs, or better yet, ADOPT! The mills produce thousands of dogs a year which leads to thousands of dogs put to sleep by the shelters because of the pet over population problem!
