I called and was told that I needed to call and get an authorization number. They couldn't tell me if I call the insurance directly or the program itself. I called both and was told that there is no such this as an authorization number and to give them my membership number. I called back and told the receptionist and was told that they required the authorization number because they didn't have time to call the insurance company to get personal information and that the member is supposed to do it before coming in. I explained that both the insurance and program said they don't give one and the lady at the Y said I could come in and speak to a managing director but that they can't spend 15-30 minutes to get the information and that this is their policy. I explained that i can show my active membership on the website and she said they didn't have time to do that. She told me it wasn't the same as my membership number and they couldn't scan the barcode on my card itself. The authorization number proves my membership is active. I never even had a chance to use the facilities and would not go even if they paid me. It shouldn't be that difficult to join. I'm a member at a dozen locations and have NEVER come across anyone as unhelpful and condescending in any of the gyms I've been to. Their policy doesn't coincide with what the program or any other YMCA locations require and this lady couldn't tel me where I was supposed to call... only to call the number on the back of my card. I have a membership card and an insurance card. Both told me there is no such thing as an authorization number unless it's for a procedure or something of that sort and a gym membership absolutely does not require one. I don't even want to call the managing director at this point. What's the point when the receptionist made it clear they weren't interested in helping me join or calling the program/insurance to settle the matter. Is it my job to do it? I was told multiple times that they don't have the time to, so I won't waste any more of mine trying to be a member at a place that left a negative first impression. By the way, they do NOT have a pool so the heading in this forum is incorrect. No swimming lessons, etc.

Only giving two stars, because it's a new year for me. I am used to being a member at another pool,…read morewhich will remain nameless, but this one is about 5 minutes closer, and my sons friends from school had a membership here this year, and he wanted to spend more time with them. I paid the SAME price for a membership as I did the other pool I was a member at, so that's first. Same price. However, this pool is not very clean. Upon entering, its very rundown looking, cracked paint, chipped everything, and the parking lot is uneven and bumpy. There are trees and brush everywhere. It looks like it needs MONTHS worth of maintenance. Then you walk in, and the staff aren't very friendly to be honest. They are mainly teenagers, who give you an "I don't wanna be here" attitude. Let's talk bathrooms. I went and got my shoes because it looked like someone had smeared poop all over the floor. This was just the first time. The next weekend, every single toilet had poop, pee, and wads of toilet paper and even stains on the toilet seat. I opted to go home just to pee. It stunk very badly also. No mats on the floor, so be careful, or you'll slip. My daughters friend said the men's bathroom was equally gross. Inside: No lounge chairs. Just hard plastic chairs like you would find at Walmart. The umbrellas for the tables are old and have holes in them and stains, and the tables are plastic and wobbly. The rest are wooden picnic tables, which isn't too comfortable for a day at the pool. Several trash cans, but only near the entrance. Inside, you also have the same landscape issue. There isn't a clean concrete place around the pool. It's full of pebbles, leaves, and rocks. It honestly could use a good sweeping. Paint is also chipping. Lifeguards? My kids are teens, as a stated, but I've noticed the lifeguards more concerned with having their friends sit near them during their shift and talking, than watching the pool. Example, people with huge rafts just bumping into everyone. I don't mind the rafts, but when it's their friends just sitting there while they "work" it's annoying. Long story short.... I'll be finishing out my membership here, sadly, and then going back to my MUCH NICER, MUCH cleaner, pool next year. I honestly don't even like coming due to the lack of cleanliness, and nowhere to sit. If you want to lay down, it has to be on concrete, and chances are, you're going to be laying on gravel/pebbles. Oh, and the slide for the kids? Unsafe. Very wobbly. My son wouldn't go down it again. The whole thing shook. It would take seconds to tighten the bolts.
