Do NOT Bring a Child Who Is Afraid of Water Here…read more My daughter is 3 years old, and this was her very first swimming lesson ever. Before her first lesson, I clearly told the staff that she was terrified of water and that my goal was simply for her to gradually build confidence and become comfortable in the water. I specifically asked them not to force her underwater. The instructor completely ignored my concerns. During her very first lesson, the instructor put my daughter's head underwater. She immediately panicked and cried. You could clearly see the fear on her face, yet the instructor continued putting her underwater multiple times while she was crying. How is a terrified 3-year-old supposed to learn to hold her breath underwater while she is panicking and crying? At one point, she choked on the water, and I had to stop the lesson and pull her out of the pool. She threw up at the pool afterward and told me she never wanted to swim again. It took months for her to overcome the fear from that experience. The staff member later contacted me and apologized. I explained that I was willing to give them another chance, but I made it extremely clear that my daughter needed to go at her own pace and would go underwater only when she was ready. When we returned for the second lesson, I reminded the staff multiple times not to put her underwater. I also told the instructor directly. Instead of respecting my request, I was told that they have their own "curriculum" that they follow. I explained that I understood they had a curriculum, but I was asking them to make an exception because of my daughter's previous experience and fear. Apparently, their "curriculum" is more important than listening to a parent and recognizing when a terrified 3-year-old is crying. They put her underwater AGAIN. My daughter was crying and clearly terrified, and they continued anyway. This was not teaching--it was forcing a frightened child into something she was not ready for. I simply wanted my daughter to learn basic swimming and water safety in a safe, patient, and supportive environment. Instead, they ignored my repeated requests and made her fear even worse. If your child is young or afraid of water, I strongly recommend staying away from this place. I would never trust them with my child again. A child's safety, trust, and emotional well-being should come before any "curriculum."

She was super sweet and was very informative. Never sales pitchy or gimmicky. I explained that the lessons were for me, and I have a fear of the water. She was extremely understanding, and proceeded to explain that their instructors were highly trained and equipped to handle many different scenarios, including mine. You could tell she had the utmost confidence in her instructors, and managed to put my nerves at ease. Scheduling was clear and concise and their prices and schedule are the most reasonable in this area. They have multiple locations. They are located in the 24 Fitness gym. They reserve an entire lane for their lessons. When entering, head over to the pool area. Can't miss their table set up. The instructors Ashlei and Celinda ARE AMAZING ladies! Pleased to say exceeded my expectations. On day one, I was so scared I had tears streaming and trembling happening. Their instructors have an effective, yet very caring approach. Easily got me comfortable, and focused. After about 2 sessions, I began to look forward to my lessons. Now, I'm not afraid of the water! This experience easily surpassed my expectations, from the owners to the instructors. VERY professional bunch. They even have an easy to use app where you can access your schedule, communicate, and so much more. And if you still need help, don't hesitate to call. Ted and Priscilla are AMAZING people and very easy to talk to. They offer private and group lessons. So whether you're thinking for lessons for your child, or yourself - I want to tell you that the swimming is a skill and a wonderful gift for yourself, a loved one, and in general anyone and at any age. This means they'll have priority registration, mandatory study hall, tutoring, and a group of peers with similar interests! They'll also be able to graduate on time! Many of Ohana Water Polo Academy graduates also went on to play in college and continue to get together when home on break. Excellent place to learn the game. They are also very competitive and sent several groups to the National Junior Olympics in NorCal this past summer. My 10 year old and 8 year old were in semi-private lessons together and Ms. Maddie handled them well. My youngest, now 6 years old, can sometimes be a little stubborn but she complied during private lessons with Ms. Madison Le and Ms. Sofia Fex. Thank you both for making swim lessons fun for my children =) I'd also like to mention that Jump Start Swimming offers lessons to individuals with special needs.
