I explained that I had 2 small tanks but got a new larger one and needed to start out new with this one. I paid $20 for a bottle of stabilizer (along with pebbles and a water heater) and found out I had already purchased this bottle for my other tank, which I didn't mind having more but I paid only $8 elsewhere. I called and explained I didn't need this extra bottle. They do not accept returns so be aware of what you're buying before you pay. Shop around first as this is grossly over priced. I don't mind making a profit but more than double the regular price is a rip off. I was fine with store credit which was offered on the phone but when I went in they told me they were refusing the store credit because I gave a bad Google review. The employees then told me their father who owns the store would not do business with me and this was "nicer than what they personally would do to me" beware of these people, they are scamming customers for overly priced items and telling customers they aren't welcomed if they don't give good reviews. On the spot they ask for a 5 star review for a discount so most of the reviews aren't thought out or real. They are very unprofessional, rude, and sketchy to say the least. I would not go in to this fish store again. We opened a layaway agreement on 1/5/08 for a $500.00 tank/stand/hood combo which was to be paid by or before 3/5/08. Employee Ted told us it would be ready to take home when we paid in full. 1/18/08 we came to pay in full and Ted told us "something happened" to our tank and they ordered a new one for us and it would be in on 1/22/08. 1/19/08 we received a letter in the mail from Bryan Andrade, the owner of Aquatica, Inc., stating that he no longer stocks this tank and that we would have to pay in full before he ordered it. My wife called him the same morning willing to resolve the issue and he was hostile saying that he has a lot of people that reneg on layaway so he can't afford to keep things on the floor just because they were on layaway with someone else. Which we were not doing in fact we were trying to pay it off early. She asked him if he sold it and finally he said "yes". We told him that we would be willing to come in and pay the tank off if he could furnish documentation of a printed page of the item we had originally took out on layaway. ( They only gave us a receipt of the 100.00 we paid towards the layaway but nothing else the first ime) He told us that "it was our prerogative whether or not to trust him but that he would not provide a picture of what we had on layaway." I called him again asking for documentation and he told me that I "Could be a dick about it and make it more complicated than it was or pay in full." He (bryan) would then order a tank and I could come and pick it up and we would never have to talk to each other again. I asked for the original $100.00 back and he would not issue a refund on it even though he broke the layaway terms. I called back later to see if he would issue the refund before I took further action and he would not come to the phone to talk to me, then had his employee hang up on me. Unprofessional , rude and dishonest business practices. If you look them up on Banner court website for fresno you will see that they have been taken to small claims court because of unsavory business practices. I have found another store in Clovis ( 7 Seas in Clovis ) where the owner Mark is the best, a little shy at first but once you start going there he is very knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Had to write a review after I read F V's. They're seriously a bunch of cocky, unenthusiastic assholes over here, from the staff to the manager. I was floating around in there for nearly 15 mins one time trying to get someones attention. Was the store packed? Maybe they were busy helping others, right? Nope. I was the only one in there. They were clearly either too busy cleaning aquariums or chit chatting amongst themselves to really even notice me. Also, once I finally got their attention, and they found out I was a 'first timer' into salt water aquariums, they seemed instantly turned off like they didnt want to waste there time with me. It's a shame we don't have more options around this area for salt water aquariums. There's times I want to go to a focused, small 'mom n pop' store versus a Petsmart or Whitie's Pets. However, it's sad to say these box stores being 10 times the size have been more helpful in terms of customer service than this crammed piece of shit. Terrible, arrogant customer service that seems like it is interested in everything else BUT making a 'sale.' Pathetic. I walk inside and thought to myself "hey,this place is pretty cool and sleek though cramp" a employee then comes over and just hovers beind me. No "hello" "can I help you?" Nothing at all... We drove by and saw the sign "Aquatic Pets" and decided to check it out. We were very impressed by the all-marine stock, and how healthy the livestock is maintained. Heck even the pipefishes, seahorses, and mandarin are chowing down on frozen mysis! Compared to Bay Area stores where you will see at least 1 or more "floaters" or dying fish in each tank (and that includes Dolphin, Aquarium concepts, and of course the notorious 6th ave.), I did not see a single stressed out / sick / dying / dead fish in their tanks. I've gone here multiple times because I like to support local businesses but the first time I went I was quoted a price for some fish ( I was wanting to buy a lot to fill up my massive tank) but when I went to pay the price didn't add up at all it was about $30 off and when I questioned it the young kid rolled his eyes and asked if I "really had a problem paying that". He literally just changed the price thinking I wouldn't catch it. I went back months later and I was not greeted or acknowledged in anyway. Any question I had was ignored or given with an eye roll. One star AT MOST. I wish I could give 0 stars. A few months ago they were supposedly getting rid of their reptiles and had almost everything there 50% off. So I saw this as a good deal to get a corn snake. So I went in as soon as I got off work and bought one for $40 where they regularly go for $80+. I asked when it last ate and the guy told me he last ate on Wednesday so I said okay I'll wait about a week and then try feeding it. So about a week and a half later I went back in to get a live pinkie and went home to try and feed my snake. Well it did not take to the live even after letting it sit in the container for a while with the snake. I wait a week and try again but with frozen and live, still my snake doesn't even try to strike. I do this for about a month before taking it to whities pets and have them force feed it. They told me that this snake had probably never eaten in its small little life. So they force fed it two hopper mouse legs and said come back in a week and we'll try to force feed it a whole pinky. I've been going to whities for about 4 weeks to have them force feed it. I am truly saddened that I have to do this. Aquatic pets should not be selling reptiles. They keep them in poor living conditions and sold me a snake that had not eaten. Seeing the living conditions should have been a red flag for me to not get a snake. Please do not go here to get a reptile. read more

I was greeted by a young fella when I walked in and pretty much answered all my questions. I was looking to put together a tank for my son. I got a 60 gallon tank for $99. Then I bought the stand, sand for bottom decoration, filter, led lights and spent about $600 out the door. 7 days later the 60 gallon tank gave out (bottom of tank cracked.) I woke up in the morning and notice my living room was flooded and saw my fishes laying flat sideways in the waterless tank. I don't understand how the tank would gave out since I had minimum decorations in my tank. I don't blame the store but the quality of the tanks from the manufacture are probably very poor. I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews. Immediately walking in, it can be a bit intimidating. The employee by the name of michael is very knowledgeable and laid back. He answered a ton of questions in regards to corals and fish life. When I originally got my tank they even helped me transport all the salt water to my home. For the size tank I have it would have taken me a few trips. Overall great customer experience. The manager is very enthusiastic about what he does. Some prices can be a bit steep, but you pay for what you get. read more

This a great place to go if you are only looking for fish that will survive only a few days to weeks. When you walk in there is just a cluster f^@& of tanks. There was no order to any of it. There were multiple fish that were sick and dying. The guy who works there was kind of rude and seemed like his customer were a burden to him. The people who worked there were really brusque and didn't give me or my friend the time of day, though we had lots of questions about some high priced items including tank setups. We are experienced fish-keepers and were prepared to spend several thousand dollars that day, but their staff's behavior ended up driving us away. This is the worst place ever!!!! They have very expensive fish and not too much assortment. My biggest issue is they are liars. I went in to buy a used light for my reef tank. The light only half worked, but so we agreed on a lower price. I figured I could fix the light on my own. So after we agreed on the price, I had to leave to find an ATM. They only take cash on used items, and they charge more if you use a debit card!! So I found an ATM, got the money out and returned to the store. I watched them ring up the price which was much more than we agreed on. I stated that the price he rang up was not the price that we agreed on and they stated, "oh we changed our mind, we don't want to sell it for that price". I have tried to give this store a chance and every time I go in, the employees are rude and offensive. They have little to no coral selection too. As you can see by other posters, stay away. They do not offer a fish return either, so if it dies when you get home, oh well. All used equipment is cash only, so if it breaks when you get home, oh well. The short dude was really nice and respectful and extremely knowledgeable when it came to aquariums and fish keeping. I don't know what some people are saying about this aquarium store but from yesterday I called and asked about arowanas to today went in personally and purchased a fluval led light for my tank and other supplies, Bryan and the other employees were courteous and friendly to me and my husband. He even threw in some free stuff while he chatted with my husband. I guess you can't please all of them! the store is small but packed with great assortments of saltwater and freshwater fish and corals. All of them looked healthy and happy. if I could give this place a fat 0, I would! my mother came in to buy a 110 gallon tank they were selling on craigslist for our lizard we have had for a couple years, she communicated with the workers and manager and agreed to go pick it up. however, when she got there she was checking out the lights as well and just what else they had in their store, they rang her up with lights so she proceeded to tell them she just wanted the tank and bedding and that she would purchase lights she had found on amazon, the STORE OWNER then proceeded to tell her to order all her items on amazon since now she knows what she needs and refused to sell her the tank. Not sure why this place has so many low reviews. I stopped by 3 times in January looking for a new tank. Every time they were helpful and very patient answer all my questions. They were sometimes busy and only had a couple of people working, but always checked back on how I was doing. If you had a bad experience go back and report again. read more
