I tried the grooming for the first time today. Our groomer Heather was amazing. My my puppy had a bad experience at a competitor. Heather was very sweet and gentle, and when I picked up my dog, his mood was so much different than his first experience. She was also helpful and told me ways that I could prepare for the next grooming visit. I really appreciate her kindness and sensitivity. The grooming was super clean. read more

I bought several Melanotaenia fluviatilis (rainbowfish) and other fish from this store, but unfortunately, a fish died shortly after purchase. The worst part was dealing with the staff when I tried to get help with the returns or purchase the fish. The customer service problems started from my first visit. When I asked the employee with the lip piercing for help catching some fish, she looked at me but ignored me, so I had to asked again for another employee to assist me. I had to make several return trips because one fish died, one not happy eating, and other just too aggressive. The employee with the lip piercing and the other woman with long hair at the registers were both unhelpful and had really poor attitudes. During my third return, the employee with the piercing told me she "didn't have room to take the fish back" and told me to go get the other guy to handle it. When I finally found another employee (lady's coworker), he became frustrated and told me this would be the last time he would accept a return because I had already had multiple returned before. Instead of addressing the fact that the fish were dying shortly after purchase, or aggression, or sad fish, I felt like I was being blamed as the customer. Also I returned the fish within the store's 30-day return period A good fish store should care about the health of the animals they sell and treat customers professionally when issues happen. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. Unhealthy fish, poor customer service, and a frustrating experience. I recommend avoiding this location. I have three dogs. 1 is super outgoing and loves everyone. One is kind of skittish and it takes him a minute to warm up to everybody, One is just scared of everybody and everything, including cars noises, everything unless we're in the house. I'm trying to socialize my dogs more so I took my middle dog to Petco to get him out of the house. When we first walked in his tail was tucked he was very timid and scared of everything. The employees were super nice. They took their time to approach him and gave him treats. We walk around the store and purchase a couple of toys and just kind of looked at everything. Give him time to sniff all the toys and everything around the store. By the time we left, his tail was untucked, and it was wagging. I love how they allowed us to walk around the store and look at everything, pick out the items we wanted and check out without making my dog more nervous I love how close the store is to my house. For it being a dog friendly store it was extremely clean inside, there was no smell of prior dogs in the store, which I totally loved. The prices for the toys were reasonable, and I was able to get my babies some toys. I love how relaxed the store is and how you can take your time and look at everything without feeling rushed. Employees were super nice and they answered all the questions that I had. I enjoyed myself in the store. read more

We booked a grooming appointment in advanced to be told the morning of it was canceled. Went to rebook online since the store did not answer and got confirmed another appointment for shortly before the original time. That appointment got accepted just to get a call stating it was canceled due to no kennel space and to rebook HOURS later in the afternoon after we already planned our day around the original and confirmed time. So I've been a Petco customer for about 3 years now. The rewards membership is okay. Today however was not a great experience. I've been through 3 different groomers since I've started here. Lately the groomer I have has been flaking out on appointments. I understand things come up, but she said she would reach out to reschedule and never did. I called and the person that answered told me the groomer had to reschedule and she would have her call me, never did. So I finally had to call and schedule and I felt like I was bugging her. Well, when I called I asked if they had any special packages (seasonal) and she said "yes, we have a vacay package that comes with coconut shampoo and spritz and a bandana" Okay I said great I will take that, how much? She said $29.99. Well I get there and I explained to her that my dog had a small matted piece of fur on his chest, she said "no problem" I double checked regarding the vacay package, she said "yes he will get that". Well I pick him up and he was the last pup of the day so it was empty inside the grooming area, I paid the fee which came out to a whopping $71 even with my membership of 20% off and my $15 rewards. I double checked what I was charged. But, no bandana, no smell of coconut, nada. I was disappointed and so when I came home I called, Sean answered and checked with grooming and said the vacay package ended, so he was given the fall package which was cinnamon scent, well he had no scent at all. All he said was I could come back for the bandana because they "forgot" No apology at all. I'm done here.. cancelling membership and returning to Petsmart, at least there he was always getting seasonal packages and was even pet of the week several times. I only changed locations because this one is closer to home. Don't mean to complain so much but when you pay $60-$80 on grooming and tip the groomer you expect better service. read more

Clean store with a pretty large selection of items and pet brands. I went in with the purpose to buy my rabbits some supplements. I was thrilled to see they carried many more Oxbow brand items for rabbits than Petco and Whitie's. However they are grossly overpriced. Which is why I am giving them a 3/5. These supplements sell for $9.99 at Whitie's and Petsmart. Petco's price is $11.99. What I don't understand is why they are charging $13.98 for the vitamin C supplement when this is not a more costly item. They pay the same price for it from the manufacturer as the other supplements. The vitamin C is always priced the same as the dietary and urine supplements. It feels like they are just hoping to sucker someone into not noticing the spike in prices. Then I decided to check prices on small pet litter and of course they were also over priced from $2-5. I am so lucky to have PetSmart closer to me that I don't ever come out to Petco. In fact this was a last minute decision to check while I was shopping in other shops nearby. Needless to say, I did not make my purchase. I ordered from Amazon while in the store. I realize it's hard to compete with amazon selling this supplement for $7.99 but I have gotten pretty used to paying $9.99 in store for them so to see a jump in prices was really a turn off. They did have a large selection of fish, reptiles, birds and tarantulas with a lot of supplies for them. I enjoyed looking at the lizards during my visit. Overall, this place is okay if you live nearby and don't want to travel to Petsmart or Whitie's but you are definitely going to be paying more. read more

I have always had a problem with them and them grooming my dog once I took him and he was still wet I went back inside and told them what happened why was he still wet I mean I just paid $55t dollars to have him groomed and he was wet they told me well he didn't like the dryer ok you don't have towels in the back to dry him you couldn't call me I have towels for him that you can use no they said well we did the best we could well needless to say I got a manager a supervisor and corporate involved. So I gave them a second chance nope strike two I go take my dog again this was years later and their telling me he's dirty well yeah he's an outside dog he will be dirty well they couldn't take him he is a short haired Beagle he can't even tell he's got dirt on him. So I had to leave mad again. You can't tell me he is the only outside dog they are doing gh no. So I took him to the Petco in Front didn't have one problem they gave him the royal treatment. First off, let me share I don't own a pet however I do like to go to Pet Shops and have some animal therapy once in awhile. My date and I came here after dinner and checked out the animals that they have. This Petco didn't have many options for animals so played with the Chinchillas for a little bit and I educated my date on their care as in elementary school every kid and their mamas had one except me of course. They have really cool fish here, glow in the dark, they have all sorts of hamsters and rats. I am fond of hamsters especially the cute chubby ones! Anyways I was surprised they didn't have a reptile section, which was disappointing but may be a reason why. I like Whites Pet Shop better as they had a variety of animals. Lastly, my co workers recommended me to get doggy treats as when I go to parks BIG scary dogs constantly approach me and they told me to get doggy treats to throw and distract them...which seemed odd to me. So I got a few doggy treats items which felt weird as I don't have a dog but I rather be safe than sorry. This Petco has so many activities going on that if I had a puppy I would be here! So cool! Overall, this petco has all your basic needs to care for your critters. I will go to Whites Petshop if I need some animal therapy though. read more

they carry purina proplan probiotics for dogs here! this is great. one of our dogs has been battling diarrhea for one week & the vet here charges an arm & a leg for a "vet prescription grade probiotic" but it's the same thing - a 7 day supply of the same exact packet of purina proplan probiotic except we got the 30 day packets here at petco for $30.00. it was easy to purchase for same day pickup too, didn't have to go searching for it in the store. just purchase online & select pick up. the pick up process was easy. they have great customer service & they were quick to hand our item soon as we came in. read more

This Petco deserves ZERO stars. I took my dog here today and the groomer sliced open my dogs dewclaw. He had to be transported to the a local vet for surgery. It was a 3 hours before I was able to pick him up. I explained to the groomer prior leaving my dog on the seriousness of taking extra precautions in that area. She brushed me off and went on explaining extra services they offered. I don't want anyone else to experience what my pet went thru today. We have been taking our Yorkie to PetCo for over 5 years. When we tried to schedule an appointment to get her groomed they refused because they said they no longer groom senior pets anymore wth. After talking with them, they said they might be able to groomer her for an extra 15.00 wth. This is just ridiculous, I'm hoping other groomers haven't stopped grooming older pets. Extremely new Petco store in the Fresno metro that is clean, large, neat, well-stocked, and carries a wide range of products suitable for all sort of pets. Sure I can't say much for cats, dogs, reptiles, mice, hamsters and etc that they have here- since I don't own one of those, but as an aquarium enthusiast with 5 tanks at home, I must say the supplies is superb here, both for saltwater and freshwater tanks. I remember starting my freshwater tank and saltwater tank, needing plenty of supplies to complete the checklist, everything from: - a tank (varied sizes, 20, 30, 40, 50 gallons) $20-$100 - lighting( LED, Normal and etc) $20-$100 - Filters, Skimmers, and other filtration equipment - A powerhead - Live rock and substrate - Sea Salt Mixes - Heater and Thermometer - Air Pump and stones - test kits and additive - Maintenance supplies and etc. - decorations and etc Petco sure made it a breeze, and this one carries everything just perfectly with varying degree of choices and brand. Sure the prices isn't cheap, but starting an aquarium is not a cheap hobby, an average salt water aquarium is $200, while a freshwater is $100 without the fish. Petco and Petsmart are two very similar large retail pet-stores. The major difference with Petco, is the wider range of salt water tank supplies that it carries in comparison to petsmart. It makes it a breeze for anyone needing to start a salt water tank and in full need of all the supplies from one place. Petco does carry both freshwater and salt water tank live fishes, Ive had both positive and negative experiences with them. The fish here are pretty much healthy (not in perfect health of course), but just like any live fish from any store, they are stressed, the most important thing is to quarantine any fish purchased from here before putting it into the major tank, because Petco does accept returns if their fish dies within 30 days, should anything happen. I also prefer petco for aquarium ornaments and decor, because they have varying beautiful aquarium supplies that is normally absent from petsmart. Decor such as sponge bob pineapple under the water. Overall a nice store to get pet supplies at a reasonable price, especially for saltwater and freshwater aquariums. read more

I come to this location quite often. The store itself is always clean and has lots of items to choose from. There's lots of coupons available and they're constantly sending me emails with deals. The store itself gets 4 stars. The grooming section however is hit or miss. I bring my dog every few months to get a cut and bath. Sometimes it looks great and other times it looks too short. They try to up-sell you on everything from teeth brushing to special shampoo. A typical grooming can go up to $55 or more if you start adding stuff. I try to just stick with a cut and bath to keep the price minimal. My dog is a Yorkie mixed with I have no clue what else. Sometimes his hair is cut and he looks like a schnauzer and sometimes he looks like a yorkie. I never know what he's going to look like when he gets done. Sometimes the girls helping are nice and sometimes they're rude. I get the feeling they're overbooked and rushed. For the grooming department I give them 3 stars. Every time I think about going somewhere else they send me a coupon for a discounted grooming session. I fall for it every time. read more

Poor selection of healthy fish. It made me sad. I get that through the process of transport and acclimation, there may be some fish loss, however when all the tanks have loss and in some tanks, multiple loss, it becomes unacceptable. Not really sure why none of the petcos I visited didn't have snails, this one didn't either. Their betta selection was really good. A large variety of betta breeds/species (dragonscale, veiltale, elephant ear, crown tale, etc). These fish seemed very healthy...granted they are all in their own separate cups so there is no fear of contamination as the tanks on the wall share water. Prices are good too. While waiting for my husband I overused some of the other animals they sell. The reptile habitats and the reptiles looked really good, and maintained. I went and checked out the birds and the parakeet environment looked good. Birds looked healthy, but the green cheek conure's tank desperately needed cleaning... Poor little guy also needed some tlc as his feathers were coming in and so he needed some preening. I don't know what it is, but all of the petcos had rolling shelves with product that had to go out in the middle of the shopping areas... In all instances it had to be shifted over to look at whatever was hidden behind it. read more

He helped us with new food to transition her, a better fitting harness & leash, and explained some membership perks that I was unaware of. I have to admit, we typically shop at their biggest competitor chain store & a smaller franchise store because the prices & selection are usually better. But, there's something to be said about great customer service & a genuine love for animals. Jason really took time with us & listened to what we needed. It was so appreciated since we were concerned about how our Frenchie would get along w/ a new puppy. Their initial hello was a bit intense. I buy my dog food at Petco because during the pandemic it's been very difficult to get good quality dog food from supermarkets and places like that. My wife and I used to go to Target because they had the best price for dog food but during the pandemic they didn't have any dog food so we had to start going to Petco. I RESCUED my chinchilla from here and the worker Daniel HARASSES the chinchillas. When I bought my chin he told me it has bitten him and sprayed him before. When he was getting the chin for me he threw bedding at his face to show me how to "make him play." No wonder why the chinchilla has bitten him!! What the heck is going on with this store? It's so disorganized and confusing. I'm used to the madera store that has clear departments and areas where product should be. I walked around for ten minutes and never did find the cat toys and collars.... Just tiny...and really poorly organized!!! Terrible customer service, one time I went in for an appointment for grooming and I waited for about 35 minutes while the groomer was late and when she got there she had a very short upset attitude and instantly went to my dog and said he's matted it's gonna cost extra, Before she said anything to me. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I tried calling to make grooming appointments afterwards as soon as they open around 9 o'clock in the morning assuming they wouldn't be so busy at that time and I just been transferred for five times on hold until the automated system hangs up. Extremely negative experience. I had a full grooming service booked for my dog which is very hard to come by, the day before the appointment on a Thursday and before a 112 degree weekend I received a text my groom was canceled... no explanation. Weird right? No phone call, just an auto text saying "canceled"... so I called. They said My dog was "too old" for that specific Locations policy to be groomed there (regardless his age I offered a clear bill of health from Vet. 2 weeks ago with updated vaccines) though he had been groomed at other locations before. Turns out they've had other older dogs pass away during grooms at this location. Extremely sad, I wouldn't want to go there any way after now knowing this. I asked if for the inconvenience I would be comped a coupon or assisted with securing an appointment at his original location due to the inconvenience and my goodness you guys, the supervisor or whomever he was told me "absolutely not" "you're going to have to call yourself" "there's nothing I can do" in an amazingly rude tone after I told him I was frustrated and offended by his tone. VERY RUDE and incompetent staff. Bummer, because they may have some great groomers there. But the people I spoke with were terrible and do not belong in customer relations. read more
