We had to cancel our reservation for today and did so with plenty of notice. Like scheduling, canceling was difficult because the company (Captain Ivan) doesn't answer the phone or respond to texts timely. We were bummed to cancel, but I had a bad feeling based on Captain Ivan's attitude on the phone when scheduling (rude, very short, angry almost) so I guess the proof was in the pudding. When scheduling we had questions and Ivan kept saying "read your texts" and "just come and you will find out". Ivan called us "irresponsible Americans" and that he had a feeling we would cancel because we Americans are all alike. He said "God will let us know". Texts attached. I alerted our hotel guest relations (San Juan Marriott Stellaris) since they referred this company and I want them to be aware. Captain Ivan not only let us explore but also gave us a good history of San Juan and its fortresses and coastline. We went out to a part of the Bermuda triangle (and back) feeling confident in Ivans ability to lead groups with an easy, relaxed and fun pace. Ivan takes plenty of pics and is clear with instructions (not that hard peeps). For $135 with pics for 90 Minutes this is by far the best deal on the island. The man who runs this business is one of the most unprofessional human beings I've ever dealt with in my life. When we asked how much the total was, he said "you have a phone. Add it up yourself." This tour is $110.00. When we arrived we changed into our bathing suit. On our way to the Jet ski's Captain Ivan got a call and five other people were heading our way for the same tour. We waited until they paid and got themselves together for the tour. Anyways, when we were all ready, captain Ivan gave us a little tutorial on what to do and what not to do. The five girls that came on the tour weighed over 200 pounds. Some of them weighed over 300 pounds. That's ok. I'm not a small girl myself. Anyways, Captain Ivan gave us some instructions and told us to stand up on the Jet Ski and stretch our arms out to the side. One of the girls couldn't do it, because she was extremely over weight and she had knee problems. Captain Ivan said to her that she should not be on the tour if that's the case. She insisted. On our way out Jet Skiing out to Old San Juan, the over weight lady fell off the Jet Ski. Well, let me tell you something, it was hell trying to get her back on that Jet Ski. She was floating in the water for like 20 minutes and It took us approximately 30 to 45 minutes to get her back on the jet Ski. When she finally got back on, her whole ass was out on the Jet Ski on our way back. In the middle of the tour heading back, she fell off again. Everyone else on the tour had to wait another 30 minutes for her to get back on the Jet Ski. Long story short, this was not a tour, it was, in fact, a rescue mission. Captain Ivan was also mean and frustrated with the lady. He had no patience what so ever. No compassion at all towards her and that was wrong. I understand that he told her she shouldn't be on the Jet Ski but come on, shes a lady. I believe he should've had an assistant with him, just in case, something bad happened. It was him and 6 or 7 women at sea. But in the beginning of the tour, he will tell you that you're riding at your own risk. Captain Ivan lost his camera and his sunglasses during the rescue mission. I wanted to make a memory, so guess what? i told him to take me back out so that i can get some pictures to blog about. I think that was the right thing to do and he did. That's why I'm giving him two stars and not one. I would definitely do another Jet Ski tour but I know it will not be with Captain Ivan. It's a fun tour to be, but please be selective with your tour guide :-) read more

This was the best jet skiing adventure i have had in a long time. Yes i said adventure, not a guided tour or a short trek around the harbor. I highly recommend Ivan because he is also a fellow Gator and The Gator Nation is EVERYWHERE. He took us out to the open ocean when most jet skiing companies only stopped at the mouth of the harbor. Yes the seas were a bit high but its the caribbean what did they expect. Ivan starts off by conscripting you as one of his pirates. Fair enough, it adds to the allure of PR. He takes out around old san juan and give you a tour and history lesson of the city. In no way did this feel like being in school, it was more of a pirate story and how the city came to be as it is today. When he took us out to open ocean he told us to jump in. I thought the guy was kidding but apparently not. So I thought why not, if its my day to die at least its still a good day. So i jumped in. the water about 29k ft deep. No I'm not making that up and there were sharks in the water. Not that I saw any. But he told us this afterwards which made it pretty awesome. Ivan was easy to contact we left a voice message on his machine and he texted me back within 5 minutes then all of our contacts were thru text until he took the final booking information. You also need a credit card to book your reservation and your card will not be charged till you arrive and then you have the option to pay by card or cash. Ivan prefers cash or gold coins after all he is a pirate. The adventure was unbelievable and super fun. My children ages 15 and 18 and I had a blast, they captained their own seadoo jetski. Yooooo hoooo!!! A pirate's life for me! This was how we spent our first day in Puerto Rico. We arrived at the dock, and Captain Ivan greeted us with his friendly pirate attitude. He prepped us with a bit of safety information and how to use the jet-skis (which are super simple!), and we were off on our adventure. Ivan is super knowledgeable about the history of the San Juan, and even more knowledgeable about how to have a GREAT TIME. This tour was a time of a lifetime!!! Captain Ivan was awesome! He was extremely entertaining and caring. My boyfriend and I rented one jetski, but of course I wanted to drive (even though it was my first time on a Jet ski.) DO NOT take this small water mobile for a joke. This thing goes super fast and the waves rock you back and forth. If this is your first time on a Jet ski, it may startle you like it did me (or not, I was just paranoid because I didn't want to tip over). Anyway, Captain Ivan guided me through the timidness and the ride ended up being marvelous! As long as you let loose and go with the flow of the Jet ski, it's pretty easy. I enjoyed every bit of the tour and was fascinated by how far we were able to go out into the ocean. We're actually thinking about doing the tour a second time before we leave. There are JetSki rentals and then the real deal. Had my family of four in San Juan and looked at other Jet Ski places. After reading yelp reviews decided on Aquatica and Captain Ivan. He is by far best Jet Ski guide I have ever had and I had a few! He took over 80 pictures of us in action and for a couple of bucks he sends them all to you! Best bargain ever. Also the ride is 90 minutes and everyone else is an hour. He spends 10-20 minutes making sure all are comfortable with the SeaDo then started the real tour. We went around the island and then into open water in the ocean. All though a few swells were a little intimidating...especially for my 11 yr old on the back he made sure all were safe and made it a blast! My older daughter and wife jumped in the water several times to cool off and get some great photo's. If your in San Juan, don't bother with the others... Captain Ivan at Aquatica is the VERY BEST! This was an amazing experience. I had never been jetskiing before, but I think I am glad I waited to do it in PR. This is a jet ski tour of San Juan and Old San Juan, you go with a guide who takes you to various points and tells you about them through an interesting narration of a pirate story. Each person can have their own jet ski or share, you have to pay cash and fork over an extra $25 as the guide takes photos and video of you while on the tour and gives them to you on a cd. Since San Juan is one tip of the Bermuda triangle the waves get really large when you are out in the Atlantic, honestly I just wanted to head to back to the shore at that point, but once you are back in bay it is a smooth ride from there. We had a wonderful time today--and I must say, this activity is probably the most fun you can have in Puerto Rico! ! I found this company on Tripadvisor, but instead of a website, their Facebook page was provided and they listed a phone number. So that factors. I prefer seeing all prices and offerings on a site including departure times-- so the fact that I had to call to get these details is the reason they lost 1/2 a star. However, once we connected by phone, I received text messages with all the information I needed, which was great and rather easy. Ivan is very enthusiastic, and is a great teacher. We were new to jetskiing, and I'm approaching 50, so I probably should have been apprehensive, but I was just excited. The tour taken was great-- you've got a gorgeous backdrop of castles and forts and ships to race by and to pose in front of. Ivan is very much intune with people's desire to record the whole experience with photos, and took over 100 pictures. I posted just one right away, and got a zillion likes. This was a huge plus, until I got tired of posing while riding, and then I was like, enough already. He's also very knowledgeable about history, and you get a great perspective of the historical events at that site. The other 1/2 a star was for the fact that he started to give me a "normal" jetski, but then switched and gave that to another family and gave me one where the steering gear was held together by a bungee-cord thing wrapped around. The other skis looked brand new, but mine had a cumbersome gear shifting thing on the body instead of the gear shifter on the handle. I felt a bit stressed dealing with that thing, and trying not to wonder why I got stuck with the odd ski. But it wasn't too hard to learn at all, I'm proud to say. But the ride/experience was so AMAZING and in and of itself was 5 to 6 stars, that I would do the whole thing again tomorrow with every detail the same-- and I would have a blast. And not only I enjoyed it, one of my family members said "this is the best thing that's happened in my entire life!" read more

Captain Ivan makes this a tour AND a session of fun in the water and sun! You'll travel along the coast of Old San Juan where he explains the history of San Juan, PR. You even get to travel to portions of the Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean! His motto is the livelier YOU are, the more fun he'll have with you! I LOVED how Captain Ivan took PICTURES of EVERYONE while jet skiing so you don't have to worry about snapping pictures of taking videos with your GoPro and risk losing it. Captain Ivan was great. It is indeed a 90 min trip. It was $110 for one person on one jet skii and $77 per person if two people were to share the skii. Just a warning, if you are afraid of ocean and waves, this may not be for you. The ocean gets rough.. an i mean really rough. You will not get thrown off, but you must know how to ride the wave. Ivan only gets mad at you if you ride too close to others. He is careful with his expensive equipment. read more

My girlfriend and I went to San Juan a few months back and by far this was the highlight of our vacation. Ivan makes the trip fun and is very knowledgeable about the history of San Juan. This was our last day in PR and we waited 2 hours (not 30 mins as we were told) to start our tour because we were waiting for other people (which by this time we could have gone and come back). Our captain Ivan was making very inappropriate sexual comments to my group. Also almost crashed his jetski into my sister in law's because she knew what she was doing and he did not like that. Worse experience ever. Yes, Captain Ivan is energetic and has a whole set up of being Pirates. But, be cautious that in case of an emergency he does not know what to do. He gets aggravated pretty fast and is more concerned about his jet skit rather than your LIFE. No whistles, no spare guns, NOTHING! Yes, he takes you out very far in the Ocean but what happens when you fly off your jet ski and he is long gone ahead not noticing you are in a bind? What emergency plan does he have in motion if you are separated from your jet ski and being pushed further into the Ocean with the waves? He is unreliable. No paper trail of you ever being at this place of service because he wants cash and you fill out no forms. It is your life and you may not experience any emergency but BE CAREFUL just in case.
