This property is significantly overpriced for the level of service provided. It is located away from the rain forest and we had cold water in our showers. Travelers should be cautious about the cancellation policy. I was informed that cancellations were not allowed within 30 days of the stay. The business practice here is shady and deceiving. During an attempted room upgrade, we encountered issues on Expedia. The owner advised me to cancel first and then rebook the larger room and assured me it is free. Between the cancellation at night and rebooking next morning, I was charged $475. When I requested a refund, the owner initially stated that $50 was deducted as fee by Expedia. However, Expedia later confirmed that no such fee was charged. When I raised this discrepancy, the explanation shifted to unrelated justifications, e.g. they lost another customer because of me, blah blah. read more

1000% EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME! It was definitely worth waking up early and start the 10 hour day ( 10 hours because my group was so awesome, literally ). ROSANO and HEXON (sorry if I spelt it wrong) were a team! ROSANO had so much energy, knowledge, jokes, just full of entertainment throughout the journey!! Hexon was the best DJ because we had all types of music the whole time to set the mood literally from the moment they arrive with the shuttle until we return to the meeting spot afterwards. You're really zip lining, repelling, climbing, hiking, sliding, diving, swimming (not a strong swimmer but you MUST know how to swim), just wet, eating in the dark with candles, team support, HUGE SPIDERS, bats, ... I mean... IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME. Really felt like I was living my best life. **You are on your own to make sure you don't fall, slip, drown, or die. They ARE there but not right next to you at all times. So you should have some experiences** Luckily, everyone in my group were amazing and supportive. Definitely made it the best experience ever. So yes, 5 stars, there's not much I can add that others haven't in terms of a review, so what I'll do is add some rec's to help you better prepare for the day: FITNESS LEVEL: If you are not completely out-of-shape, you should be fine. I'll put it this way: If you read the warnings on the website and panic a little, it'll be easier than you think. If you read them and scoff because you work out, it'll be harder than you think. Helps to have some upper arm strength, but I don't and I didn't die. CLOTHING: They say to wear pants and a long-sleeve shirt, but I wore 3/4-length running pants and a cotton tank top and I was fine (though I did endure a few snide comments from the staff about wearing a sleeveless top, which I still don't understand. Chafing, maybe?) I say wear whatever exercise clothing you're most comfortable in. Good shoes are a must as you need to have good tread as the rocks are slippery. They say to wear socks but mine got mud-soaked and rock-filled so if you prefer no socks, go for it (just be prepared for some harassment from the staff). FOOD: You'll stop at a bakery beforehand, and I recommend eating something even if you're not a breakfast person. You can buy sandwiches there to pack, but the selection is limited (especially if you're a vegetarian) so if you have the means to make your own food, do that, or be prepared to eat a cold egg-and-cheese sandwich for lunch. They'll provide Ziplocks which will keep everything dry. You can buy waters for $1 each (1-2 bottles pp should be fine) if you don't bring your own. CAMERA: I bought my regular camera and double-bagged it in Ziplocks and it stayed dry, though I couldn't really take spontaneous pics, so if you have a waterproof camera, that's probably best so you have it available at any moment. One dude wore a Go-Pro on his helmet and the staff encouraged it, so by all means bring that if you have it. STAFF: Maybe the only thing I didn't like about this was that they could be kind of snippy about things, like me wearing short sleeves or another girl not wearing socks. It's done in a tone that's "hey we're having fun" but there's a slight element that is being serious, so just be prepared for that. Also, there's a skit with a LOT of silly puns in the AM, so if you aren't into audience participation for that sort of thing, sit toward the back of the bus. PHOBIAS: If you are seriously terrified of heights, darkness, bugs and spiders, scorpions, swimming in gross water or have claustrophobia, this may not be for you. Or maybe this is your chance to overcome those! But seriously, there are a lot of cockroaches. Hope these tips help as you pack for your adventure! So shocked that there's only 44 reviews on Yelp where there's nearly 1,000 on TripAdvisor. This really goes to show just how international TripAdvisor is, but I really need to put the word out there for Aventuras! Hands down. Most difficult yet the definite highlight of my trip. When they tell you this is for fit people, they aren't kidding. If you can't swim well or hike or climb of have upper body strength, please don't do this adventure because not only will you slow down the rest of your group (which actually gets really frustrating because the first half is very fast paced) but also you will likely have to leave. They are very serious about this so please consider before signing up. It's also 21+. With that being said, I'm so glad I didn't have coffee that morning because my adrenaline was pumping like CRAZY. Alright, so first you meet at this park in San Juan at 5:45 am SHARP. These two men come out with way too much energy for so early in the morning and get you scared/excited for the day that's about to come. They head to a bakery first where you can get coffee, snacks, bfast, or lunch and that's also where you sign the waivers and get a backpack with the items you'll need along with knee pads. It's an hour and 20 min from San Juan. You go through a training process where you learn how to use the equipment you are provided and they do it in the most entertaining way possible. I've never seen such a group of entertaining people when it came to an adventure tour, no joke. They literally run off into the woods to start off the adventure and off to the zip lines you go! You go through 4 zip lines and a rappelling at the end which is SO FUN. You're always kept on your toes and your life really is in your hands. You really have to pay attention to everything they say because a careless mistake can have you falling 30+ feet to your doom. Once inside the cave, you're given a helmet with a flashlight and a life vest. It gets hot in the cave at times, probably with all the climbing and hikes, but there's plenty of times where you jump into the water. Prepare for MUD. Prepare to even FALL face forward in the mud. There's an area where it literally feels like the mud version of quicksand. There's places where you jump into a deeper area of water, once even in complete darkness. The cave is absolutely beautiful. The guides, Rossano and Anibal, are fantastic. They truly care for the environment and have hopes of seeing this cave grow into something beautiful in thousands of years. I couldn't have asked for better guides. They were extremely well informed and great at pushing you to the finish line. They have a crew that helps with attaching you to the zip lines (Johnny, jasmine, horacio (?)) and they were all very friendly too! After exiting the cave, it's another difficult journey to get back to the top and it's crucial you know how to work the cables and clips to ensure you're attached to the wires. I chose the difficult route towards the end and it definitely was hard but so worth it. And it's the greatest feeling at the end when you realize you've accomplished such an amazing journey! Random weird fact: the bathroom and showers at the training area are super cool and clean! I know it's weird to say but I seriously imagined some smelly porta potty. You basically do everything you can possibly imagine to be done in a cave/jungle. I really couldn't have asked for anything more. The main guide, Rossano, was excited to tell us at length when we met up in the morning that COVID was over (~2,500 people died that day from the disease in America alone, but he writes that off saying more people die every day so I guess those 2,500 don't matter). He wanted us to travel with strangers not wearing masks on a bus for an hour to get out of the city. I left a negative review on tripadvisor, thinking I was screaming into the void. Rossano responded to that review with a bunch of nonsense (I invite you to read it) and several days later began emailing us his conspiracy videos showing "the truth" about COVID (one was a cute infographic - he clearly "did his research"). He even began texting my wife days after that (almost a month after we were in PR) until she blocked him. Please do not ever contact us again Rossano. read more

After having the most near to near-death experience ever (only one day before going on this excursion with a scuba diving outfitter which I will gladly give you the name of if they are still in biz and if you private message me), I was understandably, a bit anxious about going spelunking at all. Mi esposo, who was also quite shaken up from the day before even reassured me that even though we had long booked our place with Aventuras Tierra Adentro, that he would gladly back out if I was uncomfortable. I guess that little adventurous spirit in me could not be dampened (either that, or I was a real cheapskate, not wanting to lose our deposit) and we decided to get up before the crack of dawn (as is required) and get our weary butts to the meeting site (about a 25 minute drive from where we were staying in San Juan). One of the first things I noted about "Rossano" (the leader of this outfitter) was his quirky SILLY as all heck ESL sense of humor and his infectious energy. That immediately put me in a better mood and I promptly fell in sync. Gotta have goofy. We stopped for breakfast as a busload-- Puerto Rican sammies and coffee at a perfectly rustic old market. Cheers! A second observation and much more important (perhaps because of my aforementioned near-death experience), was how detailed Rossano was in his instructions in regards to safety. By the time our bus reached our starting destination, I was more pumped than nervous. Next thing I know, we are zip-lining over forest canopies, rappelling down a 90 degree wall into a cavern, wading into dark watery caves, sliding down muddy slopes into crazy cold pools, feeling critters crawling about (the last three actions some times in complete darkness with only Rossano and his crew to guide us...ok, and our cool little miner's hats)-- none of which I had ever DREAMED of doing no less in the same few hour period. One word: Exhilarating. Like some of the other Yelpers before me, I will not be a complete spoiler. Just know that as long as you don't mind "roughing it"; this adventure is worth EVERY penny. My apologies to ATA for taking so long to write this review. A friend who will be visiting PR soon spurred me to get 'er done finally. This is the most amazing tour I've taken in my life - hands down one of the coolest things I've ever done. So much so that I wrote a fairly long review on Trip Advisor (where most of their reviews are - check it out - 308 5 star reviews and counting!) and I'm yelping them too because I liked them that much. You can read all the descriptions on all the other reviews, all you need to know that is that there is probably no better tour in PR. Also, its important to know that my husband and I are big scaredy cats - he's terrified of heights and I don't even do roller coasters - that's how bad we are, yet not one of the activities on the tour phased us. So if you're one of those people that scares easily - don't worry about it, and book the tour anyways, you'll be glad you did! This was by far one of the most adventurous things I've ever done. The group I went with were active people who loved the outdoors and have done all sorts of extreme sports and activities. By the time we completed the tour, we had nothing to say but great things about the entire experience. I agree that it was well worth the money for all the physical and mental challenges you had to tackle. There were things I came across that I expected, and other things that I did not, particularly when we made it down into the cave (I've explored caves before but nothing like this). I guess that's what makes it a true adventure...you really don't know what to expect! The guides were awesome too. I don't often go on "tours" b/c I usually like to explore on my own, but I knew there obviously had to be guides for something like this. What I didn't know, however, is how entertaining they could be! Their energy was insane, even upon greeting you at 5:45 in the morning. The thought they put into every detail of the tour is incredible and it definitely made you feel a lot more comfortable with the group you were with. It made everything a lot more fun! I don't want to give away too much and ruin part of what made the experience so great, but I will say that they will make jokes and that you can expect to actually laugh out loud. While they make a lot of jokes, they take safety seriously, so you can be sure you're in good hands. Not only are the guides entertaining and experts in this adventure, but they are super generous too. My GoPro camera snapped off on one of the dives into the water, and not only did the lead guide, Rosanno, take the time to help find it, but when he couldn't, he went back the next day during the next group's lunch break and brought his mask so he could look for it underwater. And he found it! He called to let me know and arranged to meet me before my flight back home to get the camera. Bonus points for sure! Lesson to learn? Even with the strength of the GoPro attachments, the camera can still snap off! So take the advice they give you beforehand and buy the "floater" attachment they recommend and have for sale before arriving at the site. Also, expect everything you bring to get wet, so either double-ziplock bag them or get some kind of waterproof case. Make sure to read the "what to wear" section and take their recommendations of tight, long sleeves and long pants, plus bathing suit under your clothes in case they rip, because it does happen. In any case, this was definitely the best way to explore the outdoors in Puerto Rico. I say, DO IT! read more

$200 each person - My SO and I went together and let me say from the beginning I thought I was gonna die a few times not from the lack of safety (they do give safety classes and it's priority) but just in general from the activities. It was more than I expected and it was great. What scared me was the slipperiness on top of repelling, climbing on re-bar stuck into the rocks for us to climb on( and if you fell you will die or break something severe, the guide is not with you at all times and you're on your own much of the adventure looking down a cliff 100ft-ish). The guides do take care and hang with those that need extra help. The monkey walk which is a wire on top and a wire on the bottom and you just side step slowly looking down about 50-100ft... I don't remember, I tried not to look down. The mud is like clay and it sticks to everything. Also don't bring anything you don't want to get wet because you will be submerged in water 3 or 4 times and float down the river. This adventure was so incredible, so professional, so much fun, and so expertly crafted I would be insulting our guides if I didn't take the time to put in a five-star rating. The production value of the whole experience is top notch...personalities, jokes, music, etc. These guys bring it! The transportation is immaculately clean. The training is fun and well crafted. The gear you receive is pro-level and in excellent condition. The guides are all incredibly overqualified and passionate about what they do. They are all world class cave explorers, climbers and adventurers outside if being guides. They love the outdoors, rope work, and caving and they want you to love it too! All of that positive energy leads to the most important thing: Safety. I was continuously impressed at all of the checking, double checking by a second set of eyes, inspection of gear, eye on the clock, eye on the weather, and backup plans within backup plans every step of the way. I was really able to enjoy the magic of this adventure in an incredible raw, dynamic environment knowing that our guides were always paying attention and were trained and prepared for any eventuality. Let me preface this with a few points that some of you may be able to relate to: 1) I am TERRIFIED of spiders. Like, I get my little brother to kill bugs for me. He is 12 years younger than me. I am 25. 2) I am claustrophobic. I definitely hate not being able to see an exit in front of me, or being surrounded by darkness. 3) I had the same doubts some of you may have when scrolling through this page. Despite all my fears and my constant "should I do it or not" attitude - I took the advice of all the amazing reviews on here and just signed up, knowing that I was locked in once I paid. IT WAS SO WORTH IT! The guides here are so incredibly good at their jobs from the moment you show up. Yeah - its a vacation and you show up at 5:45am - trust me, I had the same thought (come on, man!). But you definitely need that time! The guides do an awesome job at keeping you awake, keeping you entertained, and informing you of EVERYTHING you need to know. I don't want to give away too many spoilers, even though I was looking for as many spoilers as possible before going just to feel comfortable. The experience we had with this group was incredible. Everything from start to finish was so well planned, they are truly a well oiled machine. They will keep you safe in all situations. The best part is - they will also allow you a lot of autonomy. From the zip-lines, to rapelling, to the cave, to the climb back out - everything was orchestrated so well and every moment was so fun. The people on the adventure were awesome and friendly and were all willing to conquer their fears. Yes - the cave is the longest portion of the whole shabang, but wow. If you've never been inside of a cave, it is incredible. It is big enough to where you will not feel claustrophobic. As mentioned earlier, the guides make you feel SUPER comfortable with yourself, your skills and with the group that even if you do freak out - they'll be there to help you. We were on the slow end of the group, but we made it and had a ton of fun! Yes, there are bugs and spiders, etc. - I was lucky enough to not see the huge spiders but saw the small-medium sized ones and was not as scared as I thought I'd be. Most of the time, they are far enough away from you to where it literally will not affect your experience. The biggest piece of advice that I can give you like everyone else here is to just do it. We just got back from this tour and wanted to write a review for these guys for the amazing adventure. I don't want to give away any of the surprises for anyone who takes this tour, but from the early morning pick up to the drop off, they will have you laughing ALL day. Rossano and his team definitely know how to make an entrance picking everyone up and did a terrific job keeping the energy level high as well as instruct us in a fun way with safety tips and techniques and what to expect on the tour, which is not an easy task at 5:45 am. While everyone is definitely goofy, don't let that fool you into thinking they are not highly trained professionals with the skill set to keep you safe on this tour. It is a very physical tour, with many people of varying physical fitness levels, however they did an amazing job keeping the faster people and slower people at a pace that was comfortable for each individual, helping with photo opportunities and never making anyone feel rushed. We've been on a lot of different tours all over the world and I will say that this is a very unique tour. The Angeles Cave, which is part of the famous Rio Camuy cave system is simply stunning and being able to tour the caves in an "Indiana Jones" style adventure is truly amazing. Everything that has been written in other reviews and Adventuras Tierra Adentro's own description on their website, you will do. There were people in our group afraid of heights, claustrophobic, didn't like bugs or bats etc., but at the end of the tour, they were smiling ear to ear and couldn't stop talking about every detail of their adventure while beaming with a true sense of accomplishment. This was the best part of my trip to Puerto Rico, the caving adventure would be worth every penny even if it was twice as expensive. Here is the timeline: -We were picked up in a bus very early in the morning by two of our guides. These guys were hilarious and not in a corny kind of way, but truly funny characters. They were entertaining us the whole bus ride to the caves with funny skits about what to expect on the adventure. -We bus pulled over at a local bakery (which deserves 5 stars of it's own) where we got some delicious sandwiches and went to the bathroom -After we finally arrived we at the place, we got our gear and went through some basic training on how to use the gear. Again it was highly entertaining because of all the skits the guides had prepared to make the training less boring. -We started off the adventure with several zip lines, which were a blast. -The zip lines took us down to the cliff from which we rappelled down to the caves. The guides instill you with a lot of confidence and everything moves at a really fast pace, so there isn't really any time to get scared about what you are doing. This was my first time rappelling. -The caves were amazing. You hike through them in complete darkness only using the lights on your helmet for visibility. You swim through water, climb up rocks, slide down rocks, race through deep mud, walk across ropes and jump off rocks into the water. You end spending about 4 hours in just the caves themselves. By far the biggest was jumping off a 10 foot rock into water in complete darkness. The guides also give everyone enough time to take pictures and even organize the group in a circle to use their helmet lights to light up the pictures for best quality. Recommend this for those looking for some real thrills in Puerto Rico! read more

The caving tour en El Rio Camuy cave system was so bad ass. The guides were terrific: so much fun, attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. The tour: challenging, scary, fantastically fun, rewarding, and beautiful. You begin by zip lining through the forest, rapelling 200 feet into the cave, spelunking, free jumping into the river (at one point in the pitch black!), eating a candle-lit lunch in a massive cave room, swimming, and climbing by vias ferrata. This tour will have you cheering, and facing fears. You will feel so proud of yourself and get a unique and intimate view of El Rio Camuy cave. This trip was an absolute high point of my two weeks in the Caribbean. A MUST do. *TIP* bring plenty of water, lunch (you will be stopping along the way at a bakery so you can buy a sandwich), a change of clothes, and money to tip your fabulous guides. Wear a bathing suit, and bring a water proof camera. read more

A friend and I did this tour a couple days ago and loved it! Our day had hiking, zip lining, repelling, rock climbing, jumping, swimming, etc. While the day was exhausting, and somewhat painful (I have the bruises and scratches to prove it), it was definitely something I'll never forget. Make sure to read all the tips on the website prior to going on the trip. Long pants and long sleeved shirts are a must (I wore capris and kind of regretted it, but I'm fine with showing off my battle wounds :) ). The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Once you're in the cave, you are definitely committed to finishing. I found out that I don't care for jumping off rocks into water, but once you're there, you don't have a choice (that's definitely not a bad thing, since it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be). My only issue (and that's not really the right word) is that I wish that someone from the tour group was available to take photos throughout the day. Personally, I would have been happy to pay for pictures. A lot of the guests on the tour had GoPro cameras and phones in waterproof cases, which was great, but there were several times where I was literally hanging off the side of a rock waiting because someone was taking a selfie or adjusting their cameras. It really held up the tour and got frustrating towards the end of the day. I feel like they could alleviate the problem if they provided a photographer and photos. Overall, I highly recommend the tour. It was definitely a fun day! read more

We were looking at places to visit in the Carribean and ultimately decided on Puerto Rico because we were so psyched to go on the caving tour with Aventuras. This ended up being the best decision of our trip. I'm not going to go into to much detail as I don't want to ruin any surprises, but the whole experience was filled with tiny little touches that were both hilarious and thoughtful and really made this a 5 star experience. What I will say is that these guys are pros. We had the misfortune of going on this vacation while hurricaine Tomas was just off of PR's shores, and for our safety they were forced to dramatically re-arrange our trip. Thanks to their professionalism, we hardly noticed. Sure we may not have been able to rappel into an abyss or dive 60 feet into an underground pool, but zip cording all over the jungle, wading through underground rivers and climbing our way out of a 400ft sinkhole certainly made up for it. And again, there are little details throughout the experience that will crack you up and guarantee you remember this experience for the rest of your life. I cannot reccomend this experience enough. I signed up for this adventure before by myself and wanted my boyfriend to experience it because it was such a cool experience. The second time around was as wonderful as the first with some changes in direction in the cave due to safety concerns. The one thing that is always consistent is Rossano, he is so energetic and kind. He makes safety training as interesting as it can be to make sure we all make it back safely. This adventure is tough but fun. I was not in as great of shape as I was the first time and even though I was dead last finishing he was with me the entire way cheering me on and even happily taking pictures for me and my boyfriend along the way. In this tour, you will experience laughter, excitement, terror, and adrenaline-enhanced fun. Rossano is one of the most charismatic, genuine people I have ever met, aided by Anibel, Johnny, and the rest of their crew. I was kind of conned into this trip by my significant other, who didn't give me all the details of what we would be doing. Even with my extreme fear of heights, Rossano made me feel as safe as possible, while still having loads of fun. When it got to be too much, he didn't push me to do something I was terrified of. Scrapes and bruises are to be expected, but the encounter is well worth it. One of the best tours I have ever taken. Having done zipline tours in Ecuador and tree courses in Hawaii there is nothing like going caving with Aventuras. From the very start at 5 am it was great fun. All the guides were friendly and funny (more so if you understand Spanish). The places they took us were some of the most beautiful areas of nature I have ever seen. The tour is a one of a kind experience that I will recommend to everybody I know traveling to PR. This was one of the most physically intense and one of the most incredible things I've ever done. They are not lying when they say the trip is for active people. We did a lot of hiking, bouldering, swimming, jumping, and climbing. I was very glad to be with another runner friend. We both agreed that it wasn't quite marathon-level exertion but it was more than half-marathon level. It was probably 4-6 hours of activity. However, for someone who likes being active, like me, this was an incredible day trip. The guides put on a good show and were emphatic about safety. I had some background in climbing and outdoor gear but felt relieved to review it all and to have watchful eyes over the group all day. I also appreciated that they insisted we look out for each other because if anyone got hurt, it'd be all of our problems. The sink hole surrounding the mouth of the cave is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The cave itself held it's own beauty and new experiences. I know what many of you are thinking...how can everyone give this thing 5 stars on Yelp and Tripadvisor? Well trust us all, this trip is awesome. The organization, the enthusiasm, the safety, the scenery....everything is perfect. The guides are all very nice, very educated, very enthusiastic, and all around good people. Even the bus from San Juan to the trail head is very nice. Their advice gives good advice as to what to wear and bring. That being said, I think shorts would have been better than pants. I ended up rolling up my pants for the last 1/3 of the cave tour. Don't hesitate to bring your wallet/phone, they provide a safe area to store your things during the hike. Bring a clean/dry pair of shoes or sandals for after the excursion. I also think the website kind of underestimates how in shape you need to be for this thing. An older couple on our trip (and a young out of shape girl) were pretty much left behind and a separate guide took them on short cuts to keep up. They didn't get to see and experience everything the trip had to offer. If you are very overweight, very out of shape, or feeble for any reason at all, don't go on this trip. There is a lot of scrambling over rocks in the cave and you need sure hands and sure feet to do it. My only complaint, which is very very minor, is I felt a little rushed for some of the cool stuff. The zip lining kind of just happens and you don't get much time to prepare or get pictures so be ready. Overall, this was absolutely worth the money. Splurge a little and go on an adventure with this group, it is completely awesome. read more

I can't recommend this highly enough! So worth the price! I would gladly pay double for the experience even though I was skeptical at the beginning about the cost. I am not athletic and this tour does require a good amount of athletic ability but I'm so glad I pushed through and made it. It was the most fun you can possibly have facing any of your fears (spiders, bats, heights, dark waters, dark caves, etc.). Rossano and his crew were amazing tour guides and made a point of making sure we truly enjoyed nature and our surroundings and didn't just get an adventure experience. I would recommend wearing long pants and long sleeves (spandex/synthetic fiber) because you will get bruises and scratches and the more protection you have the better. Also make sure you wear good fitting hiking type shoes. Anything loose will get sucked up in the mud and trust me - YOU NEED SHOES! They provide top of the line gear though so you just need to dress appropriately. I am kind of out of shape so I didn't do the best job of keeping up and the crew was very motivational. They made sure I didn't get too caught up in keeping up and just enjoyed the experience. It was fun, exhilarating, scary and exciting. I will be signing up again on my next visit (but hitting the gym for a few weeks in advance to "train" for it this time). Rossano, I will not be the last scraggler next time!!! :) Go - you won't regret it in the end. But you might question your sanity on the rappel - it's safe though. A very thrilling and exciting experience! You get to do ziplining, rappelling, hiking and Spelunking. The guide rossanno is very professional and knows what he's doing. A must do if you're an outdoorsy person. It's quite challenging and physically engaging. They first take you ziplining, then you rappel down abt 130 feet to the mouth of a cave. At this point you out on a life jacket and a miner's hat (with a light) and start exploring the cave. You will be swimming, floating, running, balancing and hiking throughout the cave. When you get out, you limb back up to the top with hooks for safety and assistance. All in all an amazing experience and would very highly recommend. read more

We were looking for things to do in Puerto Rico and had heard about the Adventuras caving adventure from a colleague. It was amazing! Don't let the price tag scare you away. $170 sounds like a lot for a tour but it's well worth the price. If you are at all interested in the outdoors and don't mind getting wet and dirty to have a wonderful experience, then this tour is for you. The only downside is that they only offer tours 3 days out of the week (Fri-Sun), each day with a different type of adventure. If I had another Saturday in Puerto Rico, I would try their canyoneering one next. The guides are very experienced and professional. They ensured that we were all safe and had fun. I decided to do this on my second trip visiting Puerto Rico, and yes, despite everything here being beautiful and enjoyable, this adventure was my favorite part, by far. If you are new to being outdoors, this will be challenging, but completely doable as long as you are in relatively good physical shape. You will be in great hands, as the guides are super professional and have been doing this for decades. If you LOVE the outdoors, then look no further, because no other adventure in one day will be more satisfying than this! You will get to zipline, rappel (descend a rock surface with a rope), swim underground, jump into underground water, picnic in a cave, get sucked in mud, learn about formations, creatures, and some geology, climb out of the cave, climb more with iron hooks and steps, etc etc. I have been into commercialized caves with paved paths and pretty formations, and this was so totally different and much more exciting and awe-inspiring. The guides of Aventuras really makes this a special experience. I've been a part of the Outing Club back at school and I know how much effort it takes to organize and lead a trip like this, and I was thoroughly impressed. From decades of experience, Rossano and his team thought of literally every single detail that can possibly make the trip safer, more fun, enjoyable, and educational. The logistics are well taken care of, so just follow the instructions when you sign up and you won't have to worry about food/water/locker/shower. The 1.5hr bus ride will feel like nothing because they will keep you entertained and informed with amazing energy. Everyone starts off sleeply, but once the adrenaline kicks in, who cares about sleep! Talking to them and learning more about their personal stories was also inspiring - their passion for the beautiful nature of Puerto Rico and for the adventures of being outdoors shone through the entire adventure. A few logistical notes - make sure you read the FAQ on their website. I wore contacts and they stayed intact, and there were people on my trip who wore glasses and just held on to them when we jumped in water. Synthetic long pants, long sleeve, and long socks are very much preferable. There is a locker room on site for your belongings. There is a shower at the end, and plastic bags for your wet clothes, so you won't be muddy afterwards. They only have simple sandwiches and some pastries/energy bars at the bakery, so bring your own food if you want a fancier lunch. But ziploc bags are provided. Also, depending on the weather condition/water level in the cave, you might be taking different paths in the cave versus trips before you. So don't look for complete spoilers. You want to just immerse yourself in this new, exciting experience! Because the conditions of the cave change over time, I would totally do this again in a heartbeat! read more

We had an amazing experience! I highly recommend if you are up to the challenge!!! This is a fast pace, adrenaline pumping kind of adventure. I am 46 and in okay shape and I really had to push myself hard to keep up. This is not meant for couch potatoes. I loved it but it was scary and I slipped and fell several times in the mud inside the cave. The zip lining and repelling were the easy part, the cave was very difficult but a once in a lifetime experience. My favorite part was laying back in the water and letting the current carry me while looking around at the stalagmites inside the cave. It was amazing!!! Should have taken a GoPro, there really is no time to take pictures. read more

First things first- we loved this adventure. We have done so much in Puerto Rico and this was by far the best and most memorable activity so far. The fun starts as soon as you board the bus- Rosanni and Amnebar's routine keeps you laughing all day. The training was efficient and thorough while at the same time entertaining. We had 100% trust by the time we stepped into our harnesses and took off on the first of MANY exhilarating challenges. Some things we thought were useful- 1. Wear pants- tighter is better 2. Wear hiking shoes. Website says sneakers are satisfactory but there are some areas where they will become a hazard. 3. REST. This is definitely a full day adventure. You arrive at 5:45am and don't get back until 5pm. But it is well worth it. You won't be disappointed- I have already recommended it to so many people. After completing this adventure, $175 definitely seems like a bargain. read more

This is not the ordinary tourist experience AT ALL. It allows you to get out of the usual "drinks by the pool" mindset and takes you to parts of the island you wouldn't be able to access or see on your own. In the spirit of any adventure you will have to muster every drop of courage inside of you. The caving adventure pushed me to do things I never imagined possible. From zip lining, to rappelling, to climbing over boulders, and jumping into the depths of underwater rivers. The adventure lasts a couple of hours into the afternoon but the feeling of accomplishment will stay with you for months and years to come. The staff provides a combination of expertise and professionalism that make you feel safe throughout. The appropriate training is given so no prior outdoor experience is required (but it can be helpful). Guides Rossano, Anibal, Fico, Jazmin and Eladio create a fun environment that brings everyone in the group closer together as we go through the day. Recently my friends and I (a group of 5 active adventure seeking male 23 year olds) went on a Spring Break trip to Puerto Rico. During this trip we decided to go caving. Aventuras was the provider and Rossano was our primary tour guide. Rossano and the others that guided down us into the cave, through the cave, and back up were absolutely incredible. Not only did they provide interesting facts about areas in the cave, but also entertained our group with funny antiques, and motion. If you are are a fit, adventure seeking individual with a love for nature and life this is a trip you do not want to miss out on. I'll never forget the experience I had there and I'm sure neither will you if you choose to accept the challenge. By the way, bring shoes that you don't mind throwing away (i.e., old running shoes). read more
