If you're looking for a nice relaxing day on a private island then this may be the trip for you! This is a group tour that travels with more than just those you booked with. As long as 15 people are on the tour, they will take you to your Calebra. If less than 15 you stay local! There were well over 15 so we were able to tour Calebra. It was so beautiful! Once you get there, they pick you up on a ferry to take you to the boat . The boat travels for about an hour before getting to a private island and that is where you get the guided snorkeling or diving tour depending on what you selected! My friends and I did the snorkeling. As someone who can't swim (I know I know lol) I had a great time. The tour guides were very informative and helpful for all ages and swim levels. They do provide fruit, cold cut sandwiches and rum punch and when you stop . If you're looking for a "party" boat then this may not be for you. Don't expect lots of liquor and twerking etc it's a family type tour, Some of my friends were a bit disappointed by the price expecting that we'd stop somewhere that had a bar and restaurant but it was just a private island (we're in our high 20s low 30s). Never In my life did I think I would give a 1 Star but would not recommend this company. We contacted them weeks prior to our trip to inquire about getting scuba certified. We were told we had to first buy and complete the course work through PADI and from There they would do the water/ dive sessions and compete the certification. The shop also gets a kick back from Padi as work since it makes u select a dive shop where ur course work is sent to. Once we complete the course work, we each reached out to the dive shop about 2 - 1 1/2 weeks in advance to schedule the dates and times for the water sessions. We did not receive any type of response back from the shop. We attempted to message on whatsup as requested but still did not receive a confirmation or any type of communication. We called down to the shop, where we were told to just text them. We again tried to text the shop but did not receive any response. We flew to San Juan and arrived and immediately went to the shop, we were told to text them and they would get back to us.. we asked directly if they had availability and we were told they would check and get back to us via text.... A day goes by, we attempt to call and no response.. fully we get a text saying they are fully committed...... This was without doubt the worst type of un-reliable customer service and a refusal to communicate.. I would not trust this dive shop or operation. They should never have told us to use to do the course work with their shop and then refuse to complete our certification. Luckily Scuba Dogs next door came to our rescue when we told them about the horrible customer service we received. Just be aware this shop will not be reliable. read more

For snorkeling, I highly recommend an adventure that either takes you off-site or not in San Juan. We purchased Snorkeling in San Juan, and I was so incredibly disappointed! The snorkeling took place in a confined location, where you could essentially walk the entire area. There were only about 5 different species of fish, which made my interest in snorkeling shorter than the actual duration. Our snorkeling instructor/supervisor really wasn't attentive or interactive. He provided us with our gear, and mumbled a lot of the instructions. Our group tended to look at one another with confused faces, and had to really rely on each other for comprehension. For $70, save your money and find something else to do. read more

What an absolutely amazing trip! Such a warm and welcoming crew. We could not believe how well they managed a large group which ranged from complete non-swimmers to divers. Dive master Ruthie was fantastic she made sure that we saw as much as possible, pointed out plenty of hiding marine life for our amateur photography opportunities, and overall was an attentive dive master for our group. We even had a gentleman drop his personal gear off the boat while loading and she geared back up and went back after already doing 4 dives and she made the 50 foot drop to recover his stuff for him. Omar n Tony were fantastic duo to head the ship! we took a boat named Day off! to Culebra for the whole day! Lame late arrivers delayed us from taking off on time. But one of them got sea sick(apparently they stopped for McDonald's on the way to the boat) which serves them right. Omar, the captain made an awesome lunch n fruit n snack spread, while Tony shared history stories while we were waiting to return to Fajardo. Omar went out of his way and brought me two cups of snacks up on the top level when he saw I wasn't heading down to grab some of the local pineapple n banana n grapes. Interesting recipe idea from Omar: banana in microwave, slice open, top with ground beef n cheese, yum. They were both so nice n friendly. Sea Trek was so fun!! We loved getting up close and personal with the sea creatures. Lots of colorful fish. It was thrilling to hold the urchin and sea star. I LOVE snorkeling and we had just spent the day before snorkeling Culebra and we actually had more fun during our Sea Trek. I like that I could wear my glasses and my hair stayed dry. My husband liked not having to deal with a snorkel and mask AND the helmet fit his huge head! I appreciate the underwater photos to share with our family and friends. Aqua Adventure and our instructor Tony were AMAZING. The goal was this: Get my fiancee her Open Water Certification. Get me my Advanced Open Water Certification. Simultaneously. In just two days. They pulled it off with flying colors. Day 1: We met our instructor Tony in the morning at AA's office in San Juan. We found out it was just going to be the two of us for the day (awesome!). Tony then drove us over to a nearby protected bay (Escambrón Marine Park) for day-one of lessons. While he worked with my fiancee on her confined water dives I snorkeled around the bay. When she needed a break he worked with me on my first two Adventure Dives (Underwater Navigation and Peak Performance Buoyancy). After I completed those, my fiancee was ready to get back in the water and completed her first two OW dives. Day 2: We Uber'ed to Fajardo for our boat dives. It's about an hour's drive and $40 each way in an Uber. AA will arrange transportation for you if you want, but likely the cheapest way to do it is rent a car. On the boat were a handful of other divers, some completing certifications, some just going diving. It was great fun meeting and chatting with everyone on board. We hit three dive sites (Lobos, Diablo, and Sandslide) and saw tons of wildlife (including turtles). I completed my final three Adventure Dives (Boat, Deep, Search & Recovery) and at the same time my fiancee completed her final two OW dives. It was a truly great day. I want to note that my fiancee was EXTREMELY nervous about diving. She was a first-timer and generally not all that comfortable in the water. Tony was incredibly patient and caring with her. And even went so far as to loan her his personal regulator, as the mouthpiece on her rental gear wasn't fitting her mouth comfortably. It was slow going at first, but every dive she got better and better thanks to Tony. She walked away from our trip a safe, competent, and confident Open Water Certified Diver. These people are all just awesome! I've done SNUBA and Scuba dives with Aqua Adventures and both times I had a blast. My latest adventure was Discover Scuba with Luis; it was me, my friend, and two other first time divers. I felt super safe the whole time because Luis really takes his time to make sure all participants are comfortable and able to perform the dive skills before setting off on the dive. After the dive I quickly chatted with Luis and Kyko in the office while getting my pictures and you can just tell they love what they do and want their customers to love it and enjoy it too. Terrance was our guide for this underwater adventure on a Sunday morning. He explained the rules to us very clearly and plainly. I was certainly apprehensive at first, but Terrance made me feel at ease as he asked us not to fear. We walked out to the water and when we were at shoulder depth, he placed the helmet on our head. My head and hair stayed dry throughout the process which was a major plush. We continued to walk out to the reef. We encountered fish, sea urchin, starfish, sea spider, squid and several other sea life. We were underwater for about 35 minutes. During the adventure, Terrance took many pictures and video which were available for purchase afterwards. We received our link to the pics via email before we left the next day. I would certainly do this again now that I have conquered my fear of being under water. read more

I joined Culebra boat tour with them. The captain's name is Scott. I went with my wife and daughters. the boat has in total 5 crews I remember. They are constant paying attention to each of us. When we are snorkeling or jumping off the boat, they are all watching carefully where each person is. I feel really comfortable relaxing on the boat because I know they are watching my daughters too from the boat. When they take group out snorkeling. They have one staff leading the group. Another staff at the end of the group making sure everyone is safe. I think they are doing a lot to keep everyone save. My daughters are also happy jumping off the boat into the water. Also, the boat is clean compared to many of the boat tour I have been. The crew on the boat are friendly and I can see they genuinely love what they are doing. OK First the positives of the tour. The guys that handled the tour were great, they were very friendly very nice and they made sure that we had a good time. The snorkeling location was amazing at Culebra had lots of great reef to explore. But the reason for my low star score is I paid $160 for snuba ($70 extra over just snorkeling). I even called and asked how long my snuba dive would last and they said 'about an hour' and In reality I only got about 25-30 minutes. Feel a little ripped off because not only I had to do it tandem with another diver but the guide said well you have to 'share a tank'. How hard would it have the been to add another tank to floating device at the surface for snuba? I'm pretty sure that this could have held two tanks. The second location we were taken to wasn't all that great for snorkeling or snuba. Maybe if we had more time we could have found more to explore but there wasn't much reef to explore. The food provided wasn't very exciting either. And no bathroom on board? In all I enjoyed my day excursion OK. But I think the snuba portion could have been longer for the extra price paid. read more

What can I say about Aqua Adventure?! Incredible company! Amazing experience! Wonderful employees! Prior to our trip, we did some research on Culebra Island and Flamenco Beach. It quickly became a must-do. What we didn't realize is you really need to find a way there even prior to arriving to PR as things book fast. Desperate, I checked into flights, getting tickets for the ferry and then lastly called any and all snorkeling trip and private companies to Culebra Island. Just as I was giving up hope, I came across a private sailing company and spoke with a Captain Jimbo. He reached out to various boats/companies and finally, he messaged me with good news that the last company he knew of, Aqua Adventures, put us on. This type of service and helpfulness would never happen in NY. We booked the snuba and snorkeling full day trip. Now, at this point we were aware they didn't go to Flamenco Beach, however, we took what we could get, which was not a disappointment in the end whatsoever. I can't remember the names of the areas we stopped at, but they were beautiful. We did the snuba during the first stop. I've always wanted to do something like this--part of my bucket list I guess you could say. I will admit that getting used to the the breathing underwater took me a few minutes to get the hang of, but the instructor was amazing and knew how walk me through. The reef could be best described as a wall. We came across many species of fish. Unfortunately no turtles. The next stop we did some snorkeling and had beach time. This spot was perfect for the snorkeling. I know some of our group did see a sea turtle further out too. The food/snacks was perfectly refreshing for such a gorgeous day. These guys do an amazing job--every single one of them! Even the gentleman (Scott, perhaps?) at the booth at Palomino Island. I wish I could list all names. We both highly recommend this experience! This was my highlight of the trip. We actually were going to book a 2nd trip but we were just too sunburnt. Don't forget to reapply your sunblock! read more

Three cheers for Aqua Adventure! When I started planning my trip to Puerto Rico, I had been hoping to find a snorkeling tour that *wasn't* a booze cruise, but I was crazy busy before arriving in San Juan and completely failed to make plans until the day before I had hoped to go out. The Aqua Adventure team saved the day - Omar set us up with a half-day snorkeling tour for three (my mom, my cousin, and me), and I am SO grateful he did! We all had an amazing time with Alejandro and Captain Scott, who were both fun and funny while also taking great care of us. They even let us try out SNUBA, which was super generous of them and which we *loved.* What I appreciated the most was that Alejandro and Scott exuded confidence and knowledge, took care to explain the equipment and what we were going to see and do, and answered all our questions. The sandwiches, snacks, and drinks were plentiful and much appreciated. We saw eagle rays, flounder, and lots of other reef fishes as well as some beautiful corals and seagrass beds. I can't wait to go back and spend more time out on the water with this team! read more

My daughter and I are both novices - this was our first dive after certification and it couldn't have been better. Michael, our caption, set the tone right away that we were going to have a great time. He was quirky, cool and fun, but also put an emphasis on safety. Edwin, our instructor, took special care with my daughter, who was having trouble equalizing. She wasn't able to get down on the first dive so he let her snorkel, leaving her gear on and encouraging her to keep trying. On the second dive he worked with her to get her down, at which point he summoned a sea turtle, lobster and other creatures. Despite his special attention on my daughter, he still managed to include everyone else in the group, making sure all were safe and seeing all the wonderful sea life. The dive shop is run out of a hotel that never came back after the hurricane, so it's kind of hard to find but well worth it. I'm hoping they manage to make it work cause they were fantastic. read more

We chose to go snuba diving with Aqua Adventures during our stay at the Hilton Caribe. The equipment was not all functioning properly. Their equipment needs to be serviced. Husband's regulator had to be changed out 3 times before we went out and both of ours never functioned exactly properly. Leaking air. They didn't have masks for us as they had rented them all out for people to snorkel. Luckily we had our own masks. They should take care not to rent out all of the equipment so that they have masks for people who are snuba diving. I bailed early due to my own issues but others continued and had a lot of fun. Looking back part of my problems were due to faulty equipment. However, Our dive instructor was great! Super patient with our 8 year old and he did fantastic. They saw squid, held a star fish and a black spiney thing (not a sea urchin) and the fish were friendly and inquisitive. read more

Is there 6 stars on Yelp?? I love everything about Aqua Adventure! They have a booth at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, that were easily accessible from San Juan Marriott. So, two weeks before we arrived, I did some research online and decided we would try Snuba here. I have never snorkel or scuba dive and figured why not try Snuba, right in between snorkel and scuba. I read a lot of review on Tripadvisor/Yelp, and decided to reach out to them. From the start, everything was handled with the utmost courtesy. I first emailed their online contact, Alejandro emailed me back within hours to explain what they offer, time slots, what to expect. And I replied to ask about the difference between beach and boat snuba, Alejandro replied with his answers and suggested that if we are beginner swimmers, try beach Snuba, if we have done snorkeling in the past, try boat snuba. Great tip! Then, I tried making reservations online, but was told that I need to provide credit card info, so I emailed them back to see if I should call or if they have a secure website. Veronica (who is also our dive master) called me within hours to discuss and were able to confirm us for our trip. Our tour is scheduled for 11:30am on Saturday. We were 30minutes early. We were greeted by Veronica when we arrived. She happily told us we can get started if we are ready as we were the only two (which is great!!) We got ready, signed a form, pay and off we go to safety instructions and getting our gear ready. Veronica is amazingly patience, professional, funny and very good at what she does! She gave us safety briefing, explained to us what to do, how to handle the gears, how to deal with breathing etc etc and thought us a few underwater sign language. When we are ready, she brought us to the water and off we go. So.... here is where I am not doing as great of a job as I should be. I am not a great swimmer and were not doing a good job breathing thru my mouth, so I get panic easily and keep going up. Veronica was very encouraging and told me to take my time to slowly get used to it and suggested I stay floating for a bit, and I get more and more comfortable, she would put my weights back to get me down further and further down. It took me a while to get comfortable, but she was encouraging. My bf, who did super well, went straight deep down and was having the time of his life! Veronica would check on me and him and would bring us around to look for fish, corals, sea urchin, star fish... amazing! Overall, it was super great experience, she would snap pictures and ohh funny thing, she suggested we snuba kissed and took a picture! funny lady!! If you go to PR, you should totally check them out. For $79/pp and $25 for tons of really good pictures, this is something you'll cherish forever, as I know I would!!! Kudos to Aqua Adventure for so being so professional and so friendly and make us very comfortable. Also, their booth is at Caribe Hilton, you can use the bathroom and locker room, bring a lock. read more

We had no experience with scuba diving so we did the discovery and then diving in shallow water - about 15 feet underwater. Our guide Terrance was a great instructor and we learnt everything within half an hour or so. The underwater experience was amazing, seeing all the fish, sea stars, and stuff - definitely being a go pro with you. The price is around $150 per person so a little pricey, but we thought that was worth the experience. read more

While on a cruise, my family and I booked a snorkeling trip with Aqua Adventure at the Caribe Hilton Hotel. It was truly an amazing experience !! Our guide picked us up a short walk from where our cruise was docked and took us to the hotel. The staff were very accommodating when we asked to move our scheduled time up two hours due to a change in our cruise boarding times. They were friendly and informative throughout the experience. We got to see so many beautiful fish at the reef!! My mother was very nervous, however she said our guide made her feel so comfortable and safe. After we were done, they had towels ready for us and drove us back to where we needed to be to get back on the cruise. I would very highly recommend this adventure to anyone !! read more

I booked a sea trek for two on the day of me and my boyfriends anniversary we were super excited and nervous as we had never done anything like it. Our time slot was from 11:30-1 we got there a couple of minutes before 11:30 and we're finished walking away at 12:07. I was under the impression we were going to be under for 45 mins but we weren't so it did feel kind of short. Make sure you go on a day that's sunny with no precipitation because rain stirs up the water and makes it cloudy which happened to us. We did see some fish though! Our guide Matthew was super nice and friendly and I felt safe the whole time. I just wish we went out full time slot. read more

I cannot swim and my friends wanted to do an underwater excursion. This was the perfect option. We booked this experience a couple weeks before our trip. We were incredibly excited about it and kept talking about how it would be the highlight or our vacation. We weren't wrong. First, for those who don't have water shoes, they do provide those. They also offered us towels and a picture package because we didn't have an underwater camera. Our guide Javier was awesome. He started off by explaining to us all the hand movements we would need to know since we couldn't communicate underwater. He showed us the helmets and explained how they worked. He assured us that if we needed to end the excursion at anytime, we could do that without worry. The helmet was heavy, as Javier said it would be, but as soon as it was on, he led each of us individually to the same spot underwater where we kneeled and waited to begin. From there, we walked (slowly) further under water, taking in everything we could. We found a school of fish and they got quite excited when he pulled out his packet of food pellets. He rained the pellets down on us and the fish came and swam all around. He also picked up a sea urchin and put it in each of our hands. We walked around a bunch and he would stop and take pictures of us, as a group and individually. The fish kept following us and the food. Javier did show us the pictures on his camera afterwards and promised to email them to us in a few days. I cannot wait til we get them and get to show them to all our friends. My parents go to Puerto Rico every few years. I am hoping to purchase them a Sea Trek excursion they go again. read more

My wife and I took our 10 year old son to do the Sea Trek tour, and we had Javier as our guide. We booked through Travelocity, and we were unaware that the helmets weigh in at 80 lbs above water (15 lbs under water). Javier was amazing; he worked with my 10 year old to overcome his anxiety, and also allowed me the opportunity to help put his mind at ease. Javier even attached two small buoys to the helmet to assist him with the weight of the helmet until he was below the surface, after which, only one buoy was necessary. They feed the fish right in front of you, making sure you have a good time and get to see some of the local marine life. I can't say enough good things about Javier and how well he worked with my son - everything from quizzing him on the hand signals, to just answering any questions he could to help put his worry aside. This review is for the snorkeling trip to caja del muerto. We were looking for something to do on Christmas Day since most of San Juan closes down. We found aqua adventures online, and booked the tour for 145/person for transportation from San Juan to the dock, the trip to the island, lunch and snorkeling gear. We did a number of similar trips in st thomas and always had a great time. We were picked up on time in a white van. But unfortunately the trip got off to a sour note right away - the last family of four to arrive had to squash into the back seat of the van, which although has four seats, is not really meant for four grown adults. They elected to skip the trip altogether rather than sit their for the hour+ ride each way. The rest of the day was very nice and we enjoyed ourselves, however for the price we were paying I really would have expected much better service! The boat was cramped and uncomfortable ( and not even filled to max capacity!) and the lunch was horrendous. Cheapest bread, cheese and deli meat for a tasteless sandwich, some chips and fruit. Also one of the guides was really immature and didn't even know any information about the fish and island - and then spent half the trip talking on his phone. They also left the snorkelers without any guide during the optional joke, which doesn't seems safe to me. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, however for the cost it just wasn't worth it. If they could improve on a few things they would have a great trip. read more

I used Aqua Adventure to get my PADI open water diver certification. Jorge was an excellent instructor, and I ended up doing all the dive work in 2 days. The dives were held at the pool (for instruction) and ocean (for the actual dives) at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan. Me and my boyfriend were staying in Caribe Hilton and this is right in our yard. We booked a snuba tour at 10 am. Only 4 people including us is in the same tour. Our guide was responsible and helped us every step in preparing, but he didn't get the camera at first, we asked him to take the camera but then in the water he realized the camera has no memory so we didn't get any photo. That was a big pity. Snuba it self was fun, unfortunately I've never done it before and I got very nervous so I stayed very close to the surface for the entire tour. In the end I finally feel comfortable to go deeper but we were already heading back. I was able to touch a sea urchin and that made me very happy. We also saw many cute little fish. Thank you to the Aqua Adventure team for a great 1st experience! My 8 and 11 year old loved it! We booked the reservation in person with the kind staff in San Juan. They were highly informative. This allowed me to make the best choice for my family with no experience in the ocean. We left out of Fajardo. This dock was so easy to find. Highly recommend using Waze app for directions on the island. The boat crew were fun, professional and accommodating. We snorkeled, another group snuba, and another guest scuba dived. It was a great experience for us to see all the activities in person. We have snorkeled from the shore of a key island in the past and this blew that out of the water. Our family agreed it was better to swim in deeper water snorkeling not to get over whelmed in the shallow coral that is sharp and hard to maneuver around. We used flotation belt that allowed us to stay horizontal over the water. This allows you flexibility to move without becoming taxed by the cardio workout of swimming. This gave me major comfort with my kids. You can remove this to dive down. We left early morning and returned by lunch. This was the right amount of time for beginners. We traveled to two keys. The first was very calm waters. We had more fun and excitement with the 2nd. The water was more active but made for fun! Not to mention the sting rays and turtles were amazing! I will never snorkel without the flotation belt. It made the experience so much more relaxing. The take away is my 11 year old and I have plans to get scuba certificated and return. read more

Aqua Adventure - Snorkeled with Aqua Adventures - Snorkeling Near Me - San Juan, Puerto Rico

We arrived in San Juan after I had talked to Matthew about a Culabra island dive trip and diving on our first day there off the cruise ship. We got directions to the shop and found it no problem BUT it was closed! OK, it was around lunch so we took the opportunity to grab a bite at a place called El Hamburger...awesome place to eat. Called all three phone numbers listed on their door and left multiple messages expecting a quick call back Anyway, came back after about an hour and place still closed...what the heck! No return calls! OK, we were told by another shop owner that Matthew was just there. Great! So we waited...and waited...and waited..making phone calls every 15 minutes for over an hour!!! No call back. That is infuriating to me. OK, things happen but you always mind the phone! All turned out well as we got hold of another dive shop who were great but couldn't take us due to rough seas and that led to a connection with a dive shop on the SW area of the island and we had a fantastic time! Anyway, Matthew, what the heck man! No return calls during our 4 day stay??? Everybody else called back! OK, maybe an emergency came up but I still hope to get a call from you with an explanation!
