The rescue charges zero adoption fees, and bringing home a new buddy (or seven) includes one month pet health care, microchipping, FelV testing, spaying or neutering, and all vaccinations. Not in the market? Stop in anyway. Pet the squids, volunteer an hour or two, show some support. Just look where you step - there's likely a tail underfoot.

We called Animal Kind and left messages, trying to get there help. No one called us back. Once someone did actually answer the phone and "understood our concerns." We had to surrender them and I cried for a week. They are back on the website with their same initial and inaccurate description. It was a very traumatic experience for us and most certainly for those poor kitties. I pray someone takes them home. And I will never go to Animal Kind again.

It's a gorgeous spot, with plenty of animals to see and engage with, and if you're not careful, you may get a pig who smears mud all over your butt. That's really part of the charm though, and mud washes off. The folks that own and work here are super nice in my experience (shout out to the director who had the exact same shoes as my four year old - in a different size). They make it a fun and educational experience for everyone, but especially little kids. As a general warning though, they make a harder push for veganism than you might expect coming in, so if that sort of pressure isn't your thing, you may want to avoid the walking tours.

(She is not a pet finder, btw. She's more like an animal therapist.) She came to my home in Bearsville and "talked" telepathically to my two dogs. The Supermutt, age 1.5, had NEVER before shown so much fascination and focus for a human being. It was astonishing. There is no trickery. No smoke and mirrors. She and he had serious conversations about various topics; I didn't want to interrupt them. And guess what? 1.5 years later, the dog has not run off again. And it used to be a bi-weekly thing! Cindy also alerted me to an injury he'd gotten on one of his walkabouts and I will always have the treats and supplements she recommended in the house. The second time I consulted was just last week. I am trying to introduce a new feral kitten to the household. I was concerned about the Supermutt and his intentions (very prey-driven, this one) and also wanted to know if the kitten would like to stay here or remain feral. All the things you wish you knew about your pets. If only we could read their minds. Listen, CINDY CAN. I am so optimistic about integrating this fellow into my brood now. Cindy is basically our family's therapist. I've been in couples counseling before; this feels so similar. I intend to "check-in" with Cindy annually from now on. A relationship tune-up appountment. Her fees are so reasonable, there is no reason not to and so many reasons to keep her on speed dial. Not only is she The Real Deal, she is also a lot of fun as a human. Bright and funny. Such a prize! one of the best things to happen to me in the last fifteen years. I also want to add that because of Covid, the second consult was via Zoom. I emailed Cindy photos of the two dogs and new cat. She was just as helpful and miraculous as she is in person. Don't hesitate to have a distance appointment. Also there isn't the distraction of the animals being there, begging for attention, being adorable, the concomitant desultory human conversation about "a dog I had once." So do not fear the long distance consult! Her prices are SO reasonable, too! Please watch the time, because she doesn't. I'm sure she comes away from some gigs after 2 hours and gets paid for one hour, because the conversation is so animated and her connections with the four-leggeds are so profound. Pay her for her time. I also want to add that I am no stranger to Animal Psychics. I've consulted several over the years. The others were giving good guesses, more like reading ME than the pet. Cindy is here for the animals. She is a gem. DO NOT HESITATE.
