I booked an appointment with Marlon at MGX Barbers, and the experience was seamless. The shop is in a prime location with plenty of parking and is easy to find. There are several other businesses nearby (CVS, Safeway, etc.), which is extremely convenient if you need to run errands before or after your appointment. Now, for the good stuff: my experience with Marlon. He was ready well ahead of our scheduled time. He took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for, asked clarifying questions, and kept checking in throughout the process. This immediately gave me confidence that my satisfaction was his primary goal. I also appreciated that he asked for honest feedback; he made it clear that his goal was to deliver a result I was truly happy with. The environment was clean and professional. He is great at listening to the client's needs, providing suggestions and delivering exceptional results. He washes hair with shampoo and conditioner before each haircut and he also rinses hair afterwards. Calvin uses scissors to texture and clippers to fade. He spends a fair amount of time making sure the client's haircut is on point by using a number of techniques. He also completes each appointment with your choice of product. He's made several suggestions for my hair type (black/brown and shiny). We typically use a dull wax or sculpting clay to minimize oily shine and for malleable hair. Hair cuts are by appointments only, I took a shot in dark that Ka would return my call and schedule an appointment soon. Sure enough, Ka called and had an opening in the afternoon which I grabbed immediately. He brought into his studio that adhered to Covid protocols, he worn a mask and so did I. Ka immediately went into consulting mode and asked a particular style I was interested. I thought I simply wanted to trim a few inches off. He highlighted the challenges of my self cuts and advocated a good haircut will last much longer. The hair cut service proceeded with a shampoo then the cut. Ka was meticulous. He made sure the sides were symmetrical and the backside balanced. So far so good. I guess after I have a chance to sleep on it and see it tomorrow, I will know I will feel about the result but the immediate review was quite good. Ka was cordial, friendly, social and helpful.
