Maybe I am missing all the hype...but we came here and hiked to the top of the mountain and it is a big rock. We parked at the animal center and hiked up from there. There are no bathrooms at this location and the hike wasn't too bad. It was easy to follow the large piles of rocks. We then went down to the lake to view it up close and that was pretty cool. The views were ok, but not amazing. I could see how sunrise of sunset would be cool from here. It was a warm spring day so there were not too many puddles that people talk about. The plant life was unique and we spent a total of an hour and a half there. It was peaceful and relaxing, but did not live up to the hype for me. read more

Nice trail on one side of Klondike Road and then a nice quick hike up a little mountain on the other side of Klondike Road

You can find the Arabia Mountain Trail at 3787 Klondike Rd, Lithonia, GA 30038. This is a fairly busy, fast street where most of the traffic ignores the crosswalks so be very careful. There's a couple of parking lots by the Nature Center and some limited parking along a different trailhead across the street. My first time here - we started by the Nature Center and did the short walk to a nearby Arabia Lake. On the other side of Klondike Rd there's another trail that allows for more extensive hiking. There are essentially two different peaks with trails on that side with one going up the primary bald summit and the second circumnavigating Mountain Lake - the second peak is on the backside of the lake so you can trek up to the top if you're feeling spunky. In general this is a really interesting former granite quarry with large balds and areas where the granite has been harvested - the landscape is very alien, I would imagine like walking on another planet. The landscape features large expanses of stone with hardy scrub, surrounded by trees, mostly pines. There are a couple of stacked-stone ruins, probably left from the quarry. The trail is marked by stacked-stone cairns and blue markers painted on the stone for the "blue trail" that goes around the second lake. There are paved paths for cyclists but on our visit we simply hiked the 2-3 trails for a total of about 6 miles. You get some elevation but the balds are so gradual that you hardly know that you're climbing - this is a good hike for those with limited mobility who have a hard time with switchbacks and roots. You're mostly just gliding over the large stone faces. There's a timber-framed gazebo on the first hike so you have some shelter if it rains. There's a second frame structure near the entrance of the second hike around lake number 2. Between hike 1 and 2 there's a mostly elevated wooden walkway bridge (not covered) to make things a bit easier and keep the traffic off any hikers or pedestrians. Hike two further in also has a raised observation stand so you can observe the lake, with some information about local fauna. In all, a pretty decent hike with plenty to see, places to sit and rest and a couple of lakes to take in - off the road there's an absence of road noise that's very soothing. At the Nature Center near parking there's two bathrooms - don't expect much, they're really semi-permanent portapotties, smell pretty foul and have no water (the sanitizer was also empty). Near the second entrance across the street there's a portapotty in the same condition. Due to the bathroom situation I'm giving this a 4.3/5. read more

I enjoyed walking this trail today. I really like how it connects to other areas in other counties. You could really spend a few hours walking this trail and enjoying nature. We entered the trail off of Browns Mill Road/212. There was plenty of parking and even a port-o-potty out there. There was a water fountain, but it didn't work. There is a lot of signage letting you know how far you've walked and guiding you to other areas of the trail. What I didn't see were any kinds of maps that would let you know exactly where you were at that moment. Something like that would be helpful. There is so much greenery here that you don't feel much of the heat. We were very cool during our walk. Parts of the trail backed up to some houses and other parts were straight woods. We really enjoyed ourselves. read more

One of the most underrated hikes in Georgia! I've been coming here for more than a decade and it's easy to see what keeps me coming back. Always a beautiful view and much less crowded than Stone Mountain. Miles of trails are very well maintained all year, multiple parking areas and the hike to the main summit is easy to follow from the nature center. My favorite time to come is after it rains or in the spring when the red algae starts to bloom- little red and white flowers grow out of the craters formed from all of the rain. When the craters fill with rain they look like mirrors, it feels like you are on another planet or jumping into some non fictional story line like 'the Neitherlands' in the magician's book series. Easy hike for any littles and very dog friendly! Fun fact: Steven kings 'pet cemetery' was filmed here along with 'cobra Kai'! read more

There is SO MUCH you can see on this mountain: two lakes, cool abandoned looking old building, biking trail, many different trails for hiking, cool open land area, etc. This is our second time coming here and it feels like there is always comething cool to find. There is even a forset trail too, like so much to see. If you hike where the stone is be sure to wear a hat as it gets HOT and you have no shade. When you go to the lake where the forest trail is, you have little places to sit and just look out at nature. May I suggest bringing a picnic if you are up for a hike and a lunch next to the lake. I use my all trails app to hike there, and if you don't have something similar, you could get lost. Though what's a little sense of advanture lol! It's so big we just learned that there was a second parking lot. You certainly can't hike this place or see all it's awesome in one breath. You have to come back many times to get a full picture and appreciation. read more

What a wonderful treasure! I don't live near Arabia Mountain, but when a friend posted some photos to Instagram, I knew it looked different, and I needed to check it out. I am so glad I did. A friend and I packed up some water and headed out on a cool Saturday morning. We found the spot quite easily, parked with little difficulty (it was early), and chatted with a helpful park ranger who pointed us in the right direction to get started. The first part of the path looked much like other hikes in Georgia. Lots of trees, birds, and usual. But soon, we arrived at the boardwalk, and new landscape emerged. The rock mountain is beautiful, and the landscape is so different from most hikes in the area. The plant life and pools in the rock were so interesting and impressive. My Seek app got quite the workout. Lots of photo opps if you are into that sort of thing because the rock formations are lovely. If you keep up the hike, you have the opportunity to take a hike around a lake. The All Trails app was helpful in keeping us going in the right direction. It is a lovely and quite hike with beautiful views. Lots of lizards, squirrels, birds, and a snake here and there. The day we went was not at all crowded. We encountered several folks on the rock mountain portion, but around the lake, we probably encountered less than ten people. We will definitely return. Most certainly worth a visit. read more

It's a mini Stone Mountain experience and without all the commercialism. If you're a hiker you probably won't be challenged, but if you're looking for a nice moderately challenging hike, go up to the top, wander around the two peaks, then around the lake when you come back down. Great way to spend a couple of hours whether alone, as a couple or with family. I've done all three and it is always a nice time for everyone. Pleasant views in all directions from the top and always a pleasant breeze up there. Limited parking is the only downside. read more

There are a lot of easy trails here for families, plenty of paved roads and boardwalks. In September, specifically the end of the month, yellow daisies (Helianthus porteri) are in bloom and the wild flowers make the exposed granite fields full of color and life. Parking is free but I would recommend coming early on the weekends or on the weekday. Parking fills up pretty quickly. read more

There's a really nice lake, beautiful red flowers that sprout in March & April, friendly staff and it sorta makes you feel like you're in an apocalypse surrounded by nothing while on the mountain. While I moved on from the Atlanta area for a variety of reasons, I will always miss Arabia Mountain. This place is *huge*, and really gives you an incredible amount of room to walk and bike around. Arabia Mountain itself, while not super tall, offers a vertical hike that's just challenging enough to make the view at the top worth it. This place really reminded me of being a kid in Boy Scouts and exploring complete new areas with my troop. read more

Arabia Mountain is an absolutely beautiful place for a quick workout or hike. Some may even describe it as a hidden gem amongst the nearby bustling urban city area. I arrived on a cool September day when only a handful of people were out and I enjoyed a peaceful serine walk up the mountain while taking in the scenery. Arabia isn't as steep or nearly as tall as Stone Mountain but you'll still get in a good workout due to the incline and uneven walking trails along the 1.3 mile hike to the top. There are plenty of gorgeous photo opportunities along the way with the various plant life (some of them being endangered species) and small shallow watering holes throughout. Once you make it to the top you'll be blown away by the breathtaking 360 degree views and fresh Georgia air. Whether you're an avid hiker, runner, walker, cyclist or just getting out for a quick stroll, Arabia Mountain is the perfect destination for outdoor exploration. read more

This hidden gem is a stellar baby sister to Stone Mountain and absolutely deserves your time! Gorgeous vistas, lovely wildflowers, and dog friendly! I've known about Arabia for a while now, but never made it out there until recently. I've gotta be honest with ya'll - I've been 2 weekends in a row. I'm a fan. Let me tell you why.... Parking is ample and free. There are several different locations so I'll just tell ya the routine I've built. I park at the Nature Preserve at 3787 Klondike Road where there is a main lot and an overflow lot. I like parking here to get a good workout in because you walk from here to the mountain trail. I would recommend getting a map the first time you visit just to orient yourself because the parks are connected and there's actually so much you can see...but you want to make sure you make it back to your car. That's not to say there aren't plenty of markers, but I just recommend taking a peek at the map! You can get some extra steps in by walking around the Mile Rock Trail or Forest Trail in the Nature Preserve. If you wanna heads toward the mountain right away, you'll take a left down the paved PATH. You'll see the sign pointing to cross over Klondike Rd and you'll start walking on a boardwalk. This is going to take you to the base of the mountain. If you're just looking for a quick hike, you can park at the AWARE Center 4158 Klondike Rd which is at the base of the mountain. The hike itself is not difficult and definitely requires less effort than Stone Mountain. It's a 1.3 mile round trip trek for the mountain itself. At the highest point you'll see the tippy top of the Bank of America building, ATL's very own North Star. The terrain is cool - similar to what I would imagine Mars would look like. Gorgeous weather worn granite with tons of yellow daisies on our last visit. I'm planning to return when the diamorpha starts to pop up! Don't pass this place up. It's stunning. read more

Absolutely a hidden gem! If you are into sightseeing, wildlife rescue, wildlife surveying, photography, family/date day, pet hikes, and a little mountain climbing this is definitely the right place to be. Less crowded than Stone Mountain Park, but still the views are magnificent! There is even a hidden path if you're into venturing off the beaten path and into the woods. It leads you to a large creek and more hiking trails! Highly suggest after this point going with a group of 2 or more, because once again, it's hidden and less frequented! If you are into wildlife rehabilitation and just want to volunteer or view some local wildlife up close, the A.W.A.R.E wildlife center is right in the parking lot a few meters down. They have bobcats, owls, and a whole variety of wildlife you didn't know existed in Atlanta, Ga. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself and ask for Marjan ;) read more

Nice trail, not a difficult walk until you get to the mountain (if you decide to go up to the top it can be a little intense depending on your fitness level). This is a beautiful, exhilarating journey that you can take alone or with someone. When you climb the mountain and get on top the feeling of euphoria makes the journey worthwhile. Love this trail - I usually go through the forest if I really wanna walk, the rock trail is cool too in the fall when it isn't so hot. There are deers but they are so docile so no need to worry just be sure to bring a friend or a knife/stick if your alone. One cool thing is the random grave site , I didn't go see it fully because it's spooky but I tried getting details on her and found nothing. There's also what looks like other unmarked grave sites, I hear there are so many people buried there all over. There's a beautiful lake you can't touch but is nice to sit by. I'd suggest looking at the map, if you make a left at the fire station and drive down you'll get to a small parking lot for the creek, it is absolutely gorgeous. I take my dog often, you can get in the water but the rocks are extremely slippery. My cousin dropped her phone and we found it between the rocks but it was too late. read more

A great hiking spot just OTP. Only down side parking. There is a small lot at the base of the trail, but when it full you have to park about a mile away in a much bigger lot. But it's free. They do have a nice trail and board walk you can walk on to access the trail, it just takes much longer. All in all, great views from the top. Love the Little Rock formations that guide up the trail so you knew where to go. I'll have to go back when it's not so hot and explore a little more. read more

Loved hiking this beautiful trail today. Its a super easy walk to the summit. The trail is marked by stone pillars that help guide you up. You'll see lots of beautiful plant life on the way up. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the top where you'll get 360 views of the rolling Georgia hills. I will admit I got totally lost on my way down somehow as everything looks the same I eventually used my waze app and jumped a fence to reach my car! It was an adventure to say the least! Be very careful and go back the exact way you came or you'll end up like me! read more

Wonderful magical place to take a hike! Very quiet and peaceful, pet friendly mountain trail with lots of different areas to explore. Picnic tables in the front where restrooms are, saw a few picnickers spread about on large flat rock deeper in the trail which was a nice idea. Good place for mountain biking and jogging as well. I took the rocky roads and explored..There was a beautiful pond towards the end of my hike, can see so many of the trees turning right now up there so its a pretty spectacular view. Saw an eagle and a few deer, many many songbirds and flycatchers fluttering everywhere. There are these cool little stone sculptures everywhere to help navigate you on the trail. And little water trails trickling around through all the stone it was all very pretty. I lived here 6 years before, this is quite the hidden gem I had never visited before. Am glad I checked it out, thanks Google :) Had a nice time I will definitely be back! read more

This review is for the Arabia Mountain bike trails. Checked out the trail a few months ago when looking for a change of scenery from the Beltline and Silver Comet. I wasn't sure what to expect, since the website isn't too helpful. The trails were great! Very hilly, challenging, and lots of different routes. A casual cyclist could easily spend all day wandering around the PATH trails. I parked for free at the library. read more

I walk this trail on a regular basis. There are many different paths that you can choose so that you never walk the same path in two weeks. Some are more challenging than others but you very rarely run into other people, so it's worth it. I love that it's mostly shaded so you get to walk in the heat and not come home with sunburn. Also, you can ride your bike, skate or walk and not be worried about getting hit by a car or anything. It's the best I've found so far. read more

This is a great way to explore the city of Lithonia and enjoy nature while getting some exercise. Whether you walk or bike, trust me, you'll get a workout. I've always been scared to come (I know, silly) but I don't like snakes and was told by a friend that they found a few snakes on the path. For that reason I just don't "do" nature lol. However this past week I walked 6.12 miles with a friend. I was tired but it was exhilarating. There are several points of access to the trail. We started at the Arabia Mtn. Nature Center on Rockland Rd. There is a welcome center that has restrooms, maps and a few picnic areas. This lot has loose rocks, fyi. I love and hate that you have a front seat to nature and access to any of its inhabitants. (In my hate, I'm explicitly referencing the snakes lol) So you get plenty of fresh air while on the path, of course. The path winds in and out of the lush trees and along neighborhoods and roads so you get to see beautiful parts of Lithonia you probably didn't realize existed! I didn't have great cell reception, but it's the perfect excuse to ditch the device and enjoy the beauty around you. I'd recommend walking with a partner for safety. read more

I have been using this trail for the past 5 years and is very multi purpose. You can run, walk, skate or ride. Even on a day with it's heaviest traffic, there is still enough room for all to enjoy. Despite what the other reviewer from Texas said, the trail and the area is safe. People carry sticks to ward off unfriendly dogs or other animals ( being that the trail is running through a once wooded area). On any given evening you may run by a rabbit or a dear as they cross the path. It's a very peaceful, relaxing and if you choose, challenging trail for you, your kids and the family dog.
