Been in Atlanta almost 8 years and never actually climbed or went around the mountain like I did this day. I've been here before for one of the Halloween events, but this day in particular I was here to actually enjoy the park in broad daylight and not at night. This is definitely the place to get a good workout in. You can walk around the mountain, which is a 5 mile walk or you can walk up the mountain which is 1 mile up. Honey, let me tell you that 1 mile up is not a joke, but you feel so good once you get to accomplish it and see all the other people attending to walk up the mountain. This is a experience for all age groups. The elderly were out there. The young was out there. The middle age was out there. Everyone was there having a good time, exercising and getting in a good stroll in the park. The Rangers are also out in the park for any assistance that you need as well. I thought I was gonna need them plenty of time when I attempted to go up the mountain, but I did just fine and I survived. I prefer to go around the mountain in the 5 mile walk where you see lots of people either on bikes, skates or walking their dog or pushing their kids in strollers it's a great experience and a good walk especially after the weather is decent. We took the sky ride and really enjoyed our time. We ate snacks (soft pretzels and icees) at the top overlooking the amazing views! Such a treat to enjoy! We went mid April and unfortunately everything but that was closed. :/ we would have loved to experience the splash pad and more! The actual waterfront was open as well to enjoy. Great tourist attraction BUT either employees don't know much or don't care about customers. First night, I asked what time the laser show was, the employee wasn't sure but offered to ask someone. Day 2 another employee had no idea what the cost was for the sky ride and another didn't know if our wristbands were vip or standard access. All this just to say that I think the park has an opportunity to train employees better to assist their patrons. The Christmas laser show is amazing! And so is the warm cinnamon bread. read more

Stone mountain advertises a laser light show that will be done unless weather is bad or high winds. I purchased the reserved seating and arrived to an empty memorial area in calm weather no rain no wind. I am told I cannot receive a refund but can reschedule despite the fact the weather is fine. My option of changing my date is not acceptable as I leave tomorrow at 9am so I cannot come at another date or time. I demand a refund or I will pursue further actions against stone mountain. Well, we really wanted to have fun, but unfortunately a lot of attractions are closed for the season, currently down for maintenance or just flat out weren't working. We want to the park on Saturday, Aug 22nd. We had fun on several things that were open like the train ride, and putt putt, but Dinosaur Explore and Skyhike were closed. On the website it showed that Dinosaur Explore was open, but maybe the worker who was supposed to be stationed there was not there at the time-no idea, but it was closed when we walked up. Even the Summit Skyride was currently down. When we went into Dinotorium the workers were just sitting around on their phones. We walked in, they greeted us and then we walked inside to the play area. The air for the machines was not working, so our kids couldn't play with any of the balls--couldn't shoot any of the air guns, or drop the balls into any of the shoots. The slides were also closed off, so our kids couldn't ride down those either. I get that it's off season for the park right now, but come on. It felt very disappointing, unfortunately. We pay $20 to get into the park and then full price for 6 people only to find out that half the stuff is either closed, currently down or broken. Would we come back? Maybe. If we did, I guess it would be during the on season when everything is open, BUT then you have to deal with the big crowds. At the time that we went, there weren't that many people in the park which made it feel very deserted. I recommend calling the park ahead of time to see what attractions are currently working and accessible. Last thing that really put the icing on the cake that I want to make sure people are aware of. We ate inside the Marketplace Kitchen for lunch. Their fountain drink(s) is NOT included in their combo meals. No where on their menu does it say the price of the fountain drink, so here it is: One fountain drink costs $5.75 and it is NOT refillable. They don't tell you this until you get up to the cash register to pay. (I have attached a picture of their menu) read more

I did not get to see all this park has to offer, but it's so big! The one day fee is $20, so it really makes sense to get the yearly pass that appeared to be $60. We did the 5 mile looped walking trail which was very nice. There was even some shade on a hot day and not too many bugs. There was bathroom stops along the way and they were pretty clean for what it's worth. Parking is available and signage was pretty clear. You can climb up the mountains, they have a sky lift as well. There was also a waterfront area and zip lining . Lots to do! read more

I had the chance to visit the park in July 2024. I must say that I throughly enjoyed the activities of the park. Our passes included food from the food area. Due to a severe thunderstorm in the area, we didn't stick around for the July 4th Drone show. We rode the train and walked through the park before the storms arrived but because lightning was in the vicinity, many of the activities were stopped. I wished that they would consider offering at least half off admission for weather events such as this. We visited again the next day and rode the Skyride up the mountain. Beautiful views and the hot, southern, summer sun awaited us at the top of the mountain. We lodged in the resort not too far from the park which was convenient and offered shuttle service to and from the park. I would like to go back soon, perhaps in a different season to avoid the summer heat and unpredictable thunderstorms. Pro Tip: Buy your tickets online. They are cheaper by a few dollars. We had such a great time at Stone Mountain! There's so much for kids to do, and a lot of the areas are completely free -- perfect for letting little ones get their wiggles out. You do have to pay a $20 entrance fee since it's a national park, but if you're coming from far away and it's during the week, they might let it slide (shhh ). On weekends, though, the $20 fee definitely applies. We visited during the Pumpkin Festival, and it was nonstop fun! My little one had the best time -- there were so many cool things to see, activities for all ages, and plenty of food spots for the whole family to enjoy. The Pumpkin Festival tickets are extra (about $35 each), but kids under 2-3 get in free. The ticket includes awesome experiences like a Skyride, a scenic train ride, and so much more! If you plan to visit, definitely bring a wagon because the kids will be tired after such a full day of fun. Also pack some lawn chairs and blankets so you can relax and enjoy the beautiful light show in the evening. Overall, Stone Mountain is such a fun and memorable place for families -- totally worth the trip! read more

What an incredible experience to hike the biggest stone in the U.S. Im an avid hiker this hike 3/5 . The upper part of the hike is steep , has a pole to help you get pass the hardest steep area . It's probably a good 1.5 miles up and ALL incline , I saw a lot of kids and older people doing this hike up , just to give an idea that it can be done by kids and older adults also. At the top of the stone is where the air Trolly is, to come up or down: one way trip was 10 bucks and two way , is 20 bucks for adults. They have so much to do here , a train ride , kayak, zip lining , sit down views , the stone hike , and more. 20 bucks for parking . I fully enjoyed my day, hope this helps. read more

I came here 15 years ago as a teenager and had a great experience. They say nostalgia clouds memory, and either it really does or this place has gone severely downhill. My wife and I came to town for valentine's day and thought we would stop in for the Lunar New Year Festival. The festival was pretty cool, don't have any complaints about that. I had an awesome Taro milk tea and enjoyed seeing the sights. The mountain in itself is also really great. We are avid hikers and enjoyed walking to the top. We also enjoyed looking at the amazing carving on the side. Now for the bad. First of all, almost nothing about this place is open or operational. Maybe it's where it's the start of the season, but I was extremely dissapointed to find out that the visitor centers were both closed. All of the shops felt cheap and unorganized, like an afterthought. The employees were all very complacent and not very helpful. I am sure they are probably paid very little and there is probably not much management here to speak of, so I don't really blame them for that. With that said, the $20 dollar entry/parking fee is really irksome to me. I think you should be able to enter for free, if only to just observe the natural wonder. Makes you feel really taken advantage of to pay an entry fee only to find most of the amenities closed. Don't go here and expect much aside from looking at the mountain. The final straw for me was being harassed by a rather senior looking employee of the park. My wife and I had walked over to see if the Historic center was open (it wasnt). As we were walking back to the festival, two older men in Stone Mountain park uniforms stopped us and asked if we had wristbands. We were made to roll our sleeves up to prove we had paid entry. This angered me deeply, as we were just picked randomly out of a crowd to show proof we had paid to enter. I'm not sure many people would walk the several miles it would take in order to sneak in, and if they did good on them in my opinion. read more

Parking is $20 per car or $40 for the year, there are places to park outside of the park and you can walk to it for free. It is a huge park with plenty to do, I usually climb the mountain up and come right back down. It's not an easy hike up unless you do it often, I've seen people run and jog up and down it. I have no idea how they do that but more power to them. The view once you make it to the top is worth it. read more

Since this park is always on a "must see" list when in North GA, I made a point to see it. It was definitely not crowded on the day of our visit in mid October. The weather was lovely. Not too hot or too cold for a stroll. The grounds and trees are lovely this time of year. The museum was closed for remodeling. Darn! But we took a short walk from a nearly empty parking lot to see the stone carving. At the entrance there was a huge fall festival sign and display which made it difficult to enter the area to check out the carving. Kinda annoying, not gonna lie. The entrance house guard did nothing to warn us of this nor give us tips to avoid it. Anyway we snuck through temporary gates to get to the short trail to the confederate stone carving and it was a sight to see. I'm glad we did, although I do realize the controversy surrounding it. I would have liked to explore the museum to get more information about it but I had to rely on google. I may come back because there are plenty of other trails and natural beauty to discover here for sure. read more

We took the tram to the top but you can walk it if you're more adventurous! The views are amazing and we had a beautiful day! Friends, this breaks my heart to post this review. I used to work at the park WAY back in my early teens & it was a happening place! Always full of activities, festivals, attractions & great people watching. You couldn't find a parking spot anywhere, and nobody was mad about it. Walkers all over, dog walkers, baby strolers, low rider trucks... those were the times. I came on Saturday morning with my entire family- 9 of us. There around 11 am to have lunch at the country restaurant inside Crossroads... not open, infact NOTHING was open. We found someone wandering around who said nothing opens until 2 pm. WHAT?! The sky lift sold all day/everything passes for $42 each +\-. Bought those & hung out at the top of the mtn for a while. Ate crap food & the staff was just not there... cafe at the skylift during lunch, 1 employee. Out of just about all soda & what was there was flat. Food only OK, but took a LONG time to get it. We made it to the Cross Roads to ride the train, but the line was way back to the lawn. We had to go to another event out of the park so left. That $42 got us NOTHING MUCH! The 4D movie was SO CUTE, but the spritz & shakes were lacking!! No more glass blowing shop, the candy shop is a joke now, Memorial Hall no longer has a restaurant or gift shop, the lawn has VIP chairs & obtrusive lighting polls for the no longer patriotic laser show... no more antique car museum. Is there a petting zoo anymore? Not sure about the plantation, country store, Duck Ride, Boat, etc. we didn't have time to go all the way around. Just so sad from what we did see. Corporate has done nothing for this once amazing park. Come, enjoy the day, climb the mountain, etc. lots to still see. The historic square, which has always been our family's favorite part of Stone Mountain, has totally been let go. Weeds are everywhere where a master gardener used to have a beautiful vegetable garden. There are no more farmyard animals. No more educational demonstrations. The roofs on several of the barns look like they are falling in. It's such a sad sight. We were so excited to share Stone Mountain with our grandchildren after bringing our own children here for many years. We will not be back. read more

Hit or miss. Depends on what you are doing at Stone Mountain. I have visited here three times of the last ten years and if you are looking to just see nature and a beautiful walk or hike enjoy! However, DO not waste your money on the village. They should be ashamed of taking hard working families money for the sad attractions that are not even open on a Saturday. 200 dollars for us to enter the park and the village... shelves empty and more than half the attractions closed including the large kids play area. For the amount they charge to "camp" is outrageous! $70 per night for messed up roads, with tons of pit holes, not bike friendly, young kids who hate their jobs that work there, sewer stinking campsites, a lake that you CANT EVEN GET INTO because the PH levels are off...?? And just terribly taken care of, run down sites. And that FREE light show that came with our stay....waste of a half hour of my life... that Juneteenth show was sad and boring. The boat tour was ok but nothing I recommend doing. The restrooms were filled with spiders and wet/dirty floors. This place is a rip off and just disgusting. The only good thing was the friendly one employee, David. He was cleaning the pool and picked up our garbage and was super nice and educational to us. Some friends and I visited for fall festival. It was OK.. we pay $20 for parking, $45 including tax for our tickets each, and almost $40 for pizza bites, a soda, chicken fingers and fries (crazy right) they did haf quick laser show which wasn't that entertaining(but again we aren't kids so I guess the children enjoyed it more than we did) we also had funnel cakes that ranged between $8 and $15. we rode the train because we thought we were going to be able to see different lights, but we didn't see anything, because they did not have any lights along the train ride. It was just darkness! Oh, about 15 minutes into the train ride we stopped at a mini show that they had and we just made the best out of the show. It lasted about 5 to 7 minutes and then we were back riding to the beginning of the train ride. I wouldn't do it again and I probably won't visit Stone Mountain again because it wasn't really fun and I don't think the children had that much fun either. In my opinion, there should have been more things for the children to do more likes for them to see. read more

We were visiting relatives in the Atlanta suburbs, and they suggested going to Stone Mountain Park (SMP) for a hike. Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock and the site of SMP. It's 16 miles east of Atlanta, and is the most visited tourist site in Georgia. Nestled in 3200 acres of natural beauty, SMP features something for everyone -- outdoor recreational activities (hiking, fishing, kayaking, picnicking, playing at the playground), historic buildings, family-friendly attractions (such as the drone light show and summit sky-ride), and a variety of on-site lodging options (including camping). Daily parking (Oct 1, 2023) was $20, but our relatives had an annual pass that they had paid $40 for. If you arrive on foot or bike, there's no fee. Optional attraction tickets are extra at $39.99 for adults; less for kids. We were there to hike up the 1.1 mile (each direction) "Walk Up Trail". AllTrails rates it as a "moderate" trail with an elevation gain of about 700'. You're basically following yellow blazes (which are painted on the smooth granite) up the face of the mountain. It has a consistent incline throughout, with steeper sections closer to the top. One section has a challenging grade that is steeper than 20%, but there are metal handrails to help in this section. I recommend wearing shoes with good tread as the granite can be slippery when wet and/or in areas with sand or pine needles. At the top, you're rewarded with a 360-degree view, including Atlanta in the distance. You then have to decide whether to walk back down or to take the sky-ride ($). We walked but it's great to have options. This is NOT a quiet walk in the woods! We were there on a Sunday in early October, and it was a VERY popular place to be. People of all ages were walking up and down the trail, and some were blaring music as they went. One woman was jump-roping, and some were picnicking, on top. We saw one guy who went up and down at least twice (in the time it took us to do it once!) The temperatures and humidity were perfect to be outside. While I prefer a less crowded place to hike, I'd love to return to this specific hike some day -- to see if it's less crowded on a weekday or to see the sunrise or sunset from the top. I'd also like to check out SMP's other hikes and other attractions. read more

Went to Stone Mountain Park with family and was excited since this was a Georgia bucket list item. However, I was very disappointed how capitalism has ruined this natural beauty. I can understand paying one flat rate fee to enter the park to upkeep maintenance, but I felt we were nickeled and dimed the whole time. $25/person just to enter the village to stand at the lawn is outrageous. They should have a separate entrance and fee for people who are only interested in going to the lawn. The "attractions" are not worth that price. There's even a fee to enter the informational booth! It's crazy and exploitative. We were very disappointed. It's also an additional fee to use the sky ride as well! read more

Stone Mountain Park is famous for its world's largest exposed granite outcrop--is a natural wonder turned Confederate monument. It's also great for BBQ and family events. It has 2 major trails: Cherokee Trail which surrounds the mountain as a loop trail passing through iconic covered bridge, historic mills and railway, while the Walk Up Trail is short but steep specially at the end to climb up to the top. The autumn season at the park is colorful, both trails are worth to hike to experience the best of the mountain. Watching sunset and remote Atlana silhouette at the top can be the highlight of the day. read more

We sat in the Coomons restaurant at the golf course for 30 mins no one spoke to us no one said wait a min no one said you want something to drink... nothing for 30 minutes so we kindly got up and left. My family and I enjoyed Stone Mountain Halloween Festival, but they were not prepared for the large Fall break crowd. The staff all appeared to be overwhelmed with 1 open register for 100s of people in line. The VIP tickets were helpful for the train ride, but unlimited popcorn was not available. There was only one popcorn machine in the entire drone show park area. The candy shop was in need of attention candy scoopers missing and 1 employee. The candy apples were half melted poorly made. The drone show was amazing and we did enjoy our day overall. Management team can strategize for improvements. read more
