I have met some fine baristas over the years, who have gone on to different careers because working here got them through college or university. This store has a high turnover of baristas, mainly because it's often a training store. I am a pretty patient person and I don't mind being a part of their training process. Lately, the current set of staff have not made my experiences pleasant. It has been building since the early part of 2021. One time, I decided to redeem my points towards a tumbler using the Starbucks app. It said that the tumbler was in stock. I also ordered a drink. When I approached the drive-thru, I indicated that I had a mobile order. The man said that it was out of stock. I stated that the app had it available. He maintained that he didn't have it and that he'd give me a refund in the form of a gift card, rather than reloading stars. I talked to this barista, who was the lead this day. I asked why the app didn't reflect their inventory. He simply told me to contact their head office. Um, no. It's not my responsibility to get your lack of updating your inventory and syncing it with your mobile app. The onus is on Starbucks to fix these issues. Telling me to report it is lazy. I'm reporting it to you now. Make it happen. During the same visit, I had another barista ask whether I had ordered "just" an iced black tea. The use of "just" by main staff members here is unnecessary and was ongoing for at least two months. To confirm that you have my order, rattle it off without the "just." I usually reply by saying, "It's only me. One drink is enough." My alternative is, "You aren't just a barista. You are a barista that folks would think that you do important work." Why just? Just do you job by not implying that my order isn't as large as you'd like it to be. I took up that beef with the lead. He indicated that his team often has chats and will discuss it. I will say that I don't get "just a drink" thrown at me as often these days, but coming here to deal with this nonsense has made me drop by less often than I used to. There are a couple of regular barista that I enjoy seeing and chatting with. There are some new ones who are pleasant and great getting my orders from. However, I simply don't enjoy coming here. The lines are often long and I have often waited half an hour for my drink. I am patient, but I see that other Starbucks cafes near me do not make me wait that long and are far more pleasant. The latest experience was ordering through the app, indicating that I had a mobile order, getting to the window, and being advised that staff were brewing black tea. The barista said that someone would come out with my drink in five minutes and that I should park off to the side. I first parked in the parking lot. Ten minutes went by. Nothing. I then parked in front of the patio. No one. Illegally parked, I put on my mask and headed towards the front door. I was met by a barista who had no clue who he was handing the drink off to until my eyes met his. I was thankful for my drink, but waiting fifteen minutes for it was longer than promised or anticipated. There is plenty of parking. I'd avoid parking in front of the cafe because it does get busy with Popeyes and Jeon Ju Hyang next door. Here's hoping that things get better. In the meantime, I'm averaging a visit here once a week or two because it's no longer my favourite place to grab a drink. Sad, but true. (351)

After dinner, I decided to drop by this Starbucks that was next door to see if I could pick up a treat. Looks are deceiving. This cafe looks small when you stand in front of it. However, when you open the door, there's a huge seating area on the left. It's a large cafe. Maybe it's because it doesn't have a drive-thru. There were lots of folks seated, sipping on a beverage, munching on baked goods, and chatting. It looked like a cool place to chill. It felt relaxed. I stood in line behind a couple of customers. It allowed me to figure out what I wanted. I looked at the lemon loaf slice in the display case. I hadn't had one in ages. Okay, I'll get it. Well, all that changed when I spotted the snowman cookies. I have had one so far this winter. It was the one with red earmuffs and a scarf. I spotted a blue version. I wanted it instead. I got the friendliest, cheerful woman when I got to the order area. I grabbed the snowman with the blue earmuffs and scarf. I let her know that I was here for the snowman cookie and that I'm late to the party. She smiled. She let me know that the Valentine's Day heart-shaped sugar cookies were out, too. Oh, no! She said that I should go with the snowman cookie since I had my heart set on it. I agreed. More choices weren't good here. I got my Starbucks card scanned off my phone. Done! She handed me my cookie. I thanked her and happily left with my treat. I had it today. It was buttery, sugary, and yummy. I don't visit Starbucks as much as I used to. I'm so glad that the snowman cookie still exists. I have had it for years and the yearly tradition to devour at least one continues. I had a great experience. I'd say the one closest to my workplace is close to being my favourite because it has a drive-thru and staff are extremely friendly. They like being there and appreciate that I appreciate what they do. My friend, Sandy, and I dropped by this Starbucks cafe in late August before a Yelp event in Oakville. Frankly, my knowledge of the Mississauga-Oakville border is so poor that I thought this cafe was in Oakville. Nope, it's considered Mississauga. I have found my favourite Starbucks cafe. It's this one. This cafe has a drive-thru. It had steady business when we dropped by. We wanted to get drinks, sit down, chat, and kill some time. It's rare that I can't comment on going through a Starbucks drive-thru. It's the case here. I backed into a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance. We got out of my car and entered the cafe. Sandy did a pitstop. I used the washroom before we left. There are two single stalls. The one that I used was clean and roomy. I went to place my order. My favourite drink these days is the cool lime refresher. It was a regular drink on the menu years ago. Starbucks got rid of it. When it returns for a limited time, I pounce on it like a tabby cat. I got the nicest barista. When I ordered this refresher in a grande size, she asked if it was for here or to go. I said the former. She asked if I wanted it in a glass or a cup. A glass?! Super fancy! It was a first for me. I went for the glass. Wow! And, that's why this cafe is my favourite. I have never had any Starbucks cold drink in a glass before. I had my Starbucks barcode on my app scanned to pay for my drink. I like that my name shows up automatically on the label. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready. Yes, I picked up the solid glass containing my cool lime refresher. I sat down with Sandy and her drink. My glass had a sticker with my name and my order on it. Maybe my glass was chilled a bit. I loved my cool lime refresher. It tasted even better in a glass. Maybe it's psychological. I don't know. I do know that it hit the spot and I felt classy. Yes to getting a drink in a glass. Sandy had her drink in a cup. I showed her the braille at the bottom of it. She thought it was neat. Her reaction was similar to mine when I accidentally found it. This cafe is clean. Staff are friendly. The only downside was that there weren't any baked goods in the display case. I'm not sure why. Luckily, I wasn't in need for any, so I'm not docking any stars off my rating. There was a bin to put your glasses and dishes in by the garbage and recycle bin. I actually cleaned out my car and brought my empty beverage bottles in to be recycled. I loved being here. This cafe stands out. It is my favourite Starbucks cafe and I'm happy that I have one at long last. I hope to return and try the drive-thru. I'd also like to come back and have a drink in a glass. The store feels well run, organized, and supportive, and that shows directly in the customer experience. The service is consistent, the details are handled well, and the energy in the space is always steady and welcoming. In a brand as large as Starbucks, it is rare to find a location that stands out this much. This one does because of the team culture, the care they bring to their work, and the way they represent the brand day in and day out. Corporate should be proud of the people working here.
