You see, months ago they went on and on and on and on about the tamales from here and after going one day on a whim, I had been craving them ever since. There aren't many reasons to wake up at 4:30 in the morning. These tamales though....they're a solid enough reason. I've had the pork and chicken and something else and they were all good. Bigger than average, not skimping on the meat, the masa is moist (nothing worse than a dry tamale) and the green ones actually have a good amount of heat. Don't come here expecting some cheap tamales though. A dozen is $18, but they are so, so worth it. Their pan dulce is the best in the area but I'm giving them 3 stars because on one occasion we ordered tamales for Día de la Candelaria and apparently our tamales were not ready for pick up at the time we were told they'd be ready. We of course canceled our order because it wasn't like the tamales would be ready within the next hour or two. The ham Mexican tortas here are delicious. My son loves them. The product here is really good. The tamales though, nice try? Not so good. They're small for price and taste is not really not there. The service is HORRIBLE by the cashiers. Whenever you call they either hang up or have HUGE ATTITUDES. Ridiculous. I've never eaten anything so good in my life. Unfortunately this place is on my way home from work and I have stopped in about a million times since I discovered it. :-) Everything is SO FRIGGIN SOFT! Nothing is dry or crumbly or stale. My friends beg me to stop there and bring them the huge sugar donuts. I can't even explain how delicious they are with a cup of coffee. I really love the cheese pastries too... oh so moist and sweet. I missed my stop on the Metra and was stuck in Franklin Park for an hour, so I stopped by this place to kill time and grab a quick bite. I asked the nice young woman behind the counter to surprise me, and she presented the 'Mexicana' Sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crunchy bread, spicy, fresh avocado and deli meats. I also wanted a pork tamale, but they were out, so she gave me a poblano and cheese tamale to try at no cost. Didn't try anything from the bakery, but it all looked wonderful. I was in and out in 10 minutes, full of awesome food, and it was $4 and change. What else can you ask for? read more

Suggestions: *Just because business may be successful for such a long time doesn't mean it shouldn't try new things or make upgrades. . Meaning, dab into some new changes / suggestions... - Make some "new style", creative pastries. - STAY AWAY from ARTIFICIAL flavoring - Provide a better and more inviting set-up / table / seating area - Offer better coffee, not just some commercial type coffee. The location of this establishment couldn't get any better... right in the heart of downtown Franklin Park! Despite this, I do believe that Aracely's still has a few flaws, but I will start with the positives. The customer service was very nice and the food I had was excellent. All I had was a donut and tea and I thought the donut was very good however I thought it was a little odd for it to be just sitting on a tray in a container. Why wouldn't they just put a sheet of paper under it and why were the thongs I used to pick up the donut not cleaned after each use? Seems like some kind of health hazard but it didn't affect the quality. The place itself seemed a tad bit run down with poor lighting and somewhat messy. It still seemed more like a place where you would grab the food and go. I am still exctited to go there again and try more of what they have, but I just hope that they get their bakery renovated somehow. read more

This place is a nightmare!!! I place an order with a 24 hour notice and paid a deposit! My order was supposed to be ready at 11:30 which was a $100.00 order of 51 tamales ( that big of an order should have priority)!! I get there at 11:25 and they tell me my order isn't complete yet. They had half of my order sitting on the counter getting cold, who knows how long it was sitting there!! I say OK its only 15 extra minutes, ill wait no problem!! Then the manager Isabella comes out to tell me another 15 minutes on top of that!! 10 minutes later a worker is going to tell me its actually gonna be more than another 15 minutes because somebody burned something!! I ask for a refund and to cancel my whole order including the pastries and pop i just grabbed!! They gave me an attitude for canceling , i ask for the owner's name and the cashier is going to tell me she doesn't know it. Now comes Isabella again to ask why i want the owner's name. I told her because i want him to see how business is being done in his bakery!! Now comes the best part when Isabella is going to say I WAS RUDE for talking over her previously!!! I didn't curse or raise my voice at that point! HOW IS A MANGER GOING TO CALL A CUSTOMER RUDE WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE MY FOOD READY 45 MINUTES AGO WHEN I ORDERED AHEAD!!! I don't know which part got me more mad, the fact that my order wasn't ready or that this so called "manager" is going to call ME RUDE when i was speaking firmly in a normal toned voice!!!! I have been in customer care for 15 years, you do not handle any situation like that!!!! And to top it off i was on my lunch break getting employees at work food which again we ordered ahead of time!!! So i wasted my entire lunch dealing with this, some people at my job didn't even get to eat at all because the terrible business we endured and their lunch time also passed waiting my return!! This is a great place, and almost a best kept secret! The bread is fresh and yummy. The cakes are a bit pricey, but the guys will work with you to get you what you want. The service depends on the time of day you go. If you do in the morning which is their busiest time, you get far better service! If you go in the evenings, its hit or miss. Jennifer Q commented on Rainer, who has to be one of the worst employees ever. He thinks this place is his own personal dating service. I refuse to go in there at night if he is there, as he hits on every girl including the over done cashier. Lauren is the nicest but isnt there often enough to have me come back in the evenings. This bakery is seriously a hidden gem. It is tucked nicely in the heart of franklin park and I would not have known of this place if it wasn't for a referral. They have some of the best baked goods I have had in a while. One suggestion that I do have is to try their jumbo sugar donuts. Also, when I say jumbo, it's not to be taken lightly because they seriously are huge; and only for a dollar, that's a bargain.
