Spouse ate at the Elmwood Park location on April 8 with friends. On a previous visit, he bought lasagna (one meat, one spinach) to take home and we were pleased with it. This time, the spinach lasagna portion was extremely small. It certainly wasn't worth $15.95 and barely took up half the container; it looked sad sitting in one corner. I usually get two dinners from the lasagna ... not this time. I weighed the lasagnas; the spinach was nearly 4 ounces less than the meat. If your kitchen was running out of spinach lasagna, they should have said so instead of putting an undersized piece in the order. An email to Pompei went unanswered. Look at the attached photos, then remind staff that portions should be the same ... and if there isn't enough, then you don't sell the little piece or you cut the price in half, too. Spouse should either get a free half portion on his next visit or be refunded $8 to his credit card. read more

It is amazing to have a Pompei so close to home. I remember the downtown location from when I worked there before the kids and when I went back downtown missed it as an option. This location has everything and then some. The best part is that I can actually feed the whole picky family in one place! Kids love the tomato cream sauce and fresh pastas. One adores all the homemade soups too. Husband likes the pizza and I try the specials - do not miss the breaded steak sandwich made with prime meat - huge portion and delicious. Desserts are also fantastic and there is plenty of parking and seating. read more

I used to eat at the schaumburg and oakbrook location and my favorite is the herb chicken with tomato cream sauce. First to go to this location and the place looks so nice and clean. Outaie there is a cery nice mural. I just ordered this pasta to go. The service is fast. The pasta is is creamy and yummy. My inly complaint is just too little serving for the price. read more

I've been here twice so far and both times I did get the same thing but only bc it was so good I needed another order :) . They have a great menu and the ambiance is clean and low key. It's like a deli look to it so you can wear jeans and a shirt , no need to dress up . I didn't go in but they have public bathrooms and a gambling area . Pompeii officially opened its doors today, September 22nd 2025 at 10:00 am, after months of anticipation and delays. This new spot is a great addition to the neighborhood. They have counter service with table delivery and have a drive-thru. I tried the fried calamari, and it was phenomenal... seriously one of the best I've ever had. It's clear a lot of hard work went into this place, and it shows in the quality of the food. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Rose, you are a treasure ! read more

I've tried Pompei a couple of times now, originally chalking my first experience up to just a bad day. Unfortunately, after reading comments from other local residents on Facebook, it seems the disappointment may be more of a consistent theme than a one-off experience. Honestly, it's a shame because they did an incredible job transforming the old rundown building. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, very modern and inviting, and you can clearly see they invested a significant amount of money into the aesthetics and atmosphere. It's a great local location with a lot of potential. That said, the food and overall process just haven't matched the appearance for me. The ordering setup feels more like standing in a cafeteria line than a sit-down dining experience, which feels a little odd considering the upscale look they were aiming for. On previous visits, I ordered a salad that was extremely overpriced for the small portion served. My wife had the "8-Finger Cavatelli," which honestly looked more like "4-Finger Cavatelli" based on the tiny portion size. For around $17, it was surprisingly small and not very satisfying. Today I tried the steak sandwich, and the meat was extremely dry..., almost like eating beef jerky. We also ordered their stuffed pizza with sausage and ricotta, which they call a "Strudel." Unfortunately, it was very bland. Neither the sausage nor the ricotta really had much flavor. I brought a family member with me who had never tried the place before, and his comment afterward was that he wouldn't return. We were there during lunch hours, and the restaurant only had a handful of customers, which honestly says a lot for a lunch crowd in the area. Usually, good local lunch spots are packed with working people. Again, it's disappointing because the restaurant itself is very nice and the investment into the property is obvious. I truly want local businesses to succeed, but in my opinion, they really need to focus on improving the food quality, flavor, and portion value to match the beautiful space they created. read more

I really enjoyed my eggplant parmigiana. It's supposed to be served on top of pasta. I thought the pasta came on the side, so Cathy made sure I got it that way, with the garlic olive oil sauce I wanted. No extra charge. My husband really enjoyed his thin crust pizza. And we both enjoyed our bottle of Chianti. All prices were reasonable and Cathy couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Ambiance is what you'd expect from a fast casual place. Not somewhere for a romantic dinner, but fine for what it is. read more

Constructive criticism here as a person who has been coming to Pompei since it was the old original bakery on Loomis. What's the story with the meatballs? Ordered them 2x recently at the EP location, and what we got were hard dense balls of meat with no flavor. No hint of garlic, grated cheese, parsley, bread crumbs to soften them up or even salt. It was as if meat was the only ingredient rolled into balls and covered with gravy/sauce! Nobody from Taylor St. would serve guests in their homes a meatball like this. I know you can do better. Just like what I remembered from the Taylor Street location. Plenty of pizza slice options, including the slam-dunk winner Pizza Pompei. The strudels are decent. Lots of different food options and plenty of soda and alcoholic beverages. Service is prompt, helpful, patient, and kind. Not much waiting when I go. This was our first time at this VERY expensive sports bar, with linen tablecloth prices. Customers order in what seems to be a cafeteria style system. No one greeted us, or seated us. One menu on the table. Employees deliver your food to your table. The employees we saw said almost nothing to the customers, no smiles, etc. We observed one employee, apparently on a break, sitting in a booth w/her legs and feet on the booth bench, on her phone. Our first impressions were so negative, we left without ordering. For us, the best thing about this place is the painting on the outside of the building. Very beautiful and well done. I was sooooo glad to hear that Pompeii opened up kind of close to my house. While I liked the food, a trip to Taylor Street wasn't in the offing most of the time. I wanted a Pizza Strudel, I haven't had one in years. It didn't disappoint one bit. The place was packed, but the staff handled the crowds well. I went in today to get a couple of slices and strudels for my family to share for lunch. The beef and swiss strudel was fantastic! It had a delicious horseradish sauce on it. So good. We dipped it in some vodka sauce and it was even better. The sausage vodka parm strudel was also very good. We got 3 slices of pizza - 4 cheese with tomato, sausage, and the pizza pompei. The first two were great. The last, the pizza pompei, was AWFUL. The dough was still raw and the taste was off. I DO NOT recommend that one. Staff was nice enough and the place is still welcoming and clean. If you go, get the strudels!!! read more

Me and my family love the great variety of pizza! There is not one that we don't like. We all have our favorites and with a family of 5, it is very handy that everyone can choose their own. My favorite is the sun dried tomato with ricotta and the 4 cheese with the tomato slice. Yum!! We are so happy that there is a close spot in Elmwood Park now so we can come more often. Great to have a family friendly establishment open up in the circle. The new location replaces a convenient store that we never had a use for in our household. After months of construction, you can see how the space was transformed for the better. Similar to the Taylor St location, you order at the counter with some of the pizza displayed, and other items on the menu. Once your food is ready, the staff will bring it out to your table with a number on it. Each time we've visited Pompei we've ordered the pizza for the kids, and they've really enjoyed it. I've had both the pizza and pasta. I prefer my pasta sauce to have a little more spice, but it was still a good pasta dish. They have a couple of beers on tap. The space is very long and isn't very cozy with the bright lights...but I prefer the outdoor area. Not too crazy about the tvs in every establishment. The staff is quick to clear your table, and the space is clean. Hard not to return when the food is well made and so close to home. read more

I really do enjoy going to Pompei, but my experience yesterday (5/9/26), was not good. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and zucchini sticks. However...the bright lights do not make it conducive to spend time there and relax and order another glass of wine. Food was good. It was a quick in and out. Reasonable prices. The wait for my carry out order was timely.

The pasta with tomato cream sauce and 8 finger cavatelli pasta was great! I added grilled chicken and peas to the dish, so yummy! The meatballs were great too. We also ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza which was just ok. And a slice of cherry cheesecake. Its tasted more like lemon than cream cheese. We will definitely be back for more pasta!
