What can I say here..... I've gone to swish dental three times for a chipped tooth. They said I needed a crown and drilled my tooth down, extremely painfully as they couldn't get me numb. I go here after seeing him recommended on Nextdoor and it was an amazing experience. The staff was lovely. The injections were painless. I didn't even need a crown...... I got a permanent filling, felt nothing, and actually enjoyed myself. I have dental anxiety and it was gone the second I sat in the chair. Why? The staff goes above and beyond to make you comfortable, and the Dr? Amazing man, great sense of humor, and very personable. I will never go anywhere else. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist for a few years because I moved and was afraid to try a new dentist. I have TMJ, PTSD and a very small mouth. I need a pedi bite block because I can't hold my mouth open very long, and my teeth are very sensitive. I can have panic attacks if I feel too much pain or for a number of other reasons (something on my neck, having to keep my mouth open too long, etc.). Many dentists don't know how to work with a patient like me. I'm so glad my husband referred me to Arbor Dental. There is only one dentist, Dr. Borgman. He has been in practice at the same location for like 30 years. The whole staff is friendly, personable and kind. I immediately felt like I was one of the family. They work with and around my disabilities and make me feel safe and respected. Scheduling is fast and easy. They always return my calls and texts and have always accommodated my schedule. Wait time is short. The work is efficient and highly skilled. Everyone who has worked on me is very skilled and intuitive. Highly recommended. read more

I switched dentists because my previous dentist went out of network. I was very nervous to switch because of horror stories I've heard about 'new' dentists. A coworker referred me to Dr. Borgman. I was impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the office and staff. They have a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. My former dentist used old technology, so I was pleasantly surprised by the digital technology used by this office. The front office people were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The rooms have a TV screen with beautiful scenic photos on a slide show. I found this to be very relaxing. I saw Dr. Borgman and was immediately impressed with his approachable demeanor and his fun personality, like someone you meet and know you'd be friends. I asked his opinion on replacing my silver fillings because my former dentist had always pressed me to do this. He said there was absolutely no reason to replace them because there was nothing wrong with them. He recommended leaving them alone and explained that replacing them could cause trauma to the tooth possibly requiring more work. He said he only replaces them if they're broken. I truly appreciated his conservative approach and got the feeling he does not try to over treat his patients for money. I like that he is a health care worker and not a financial business man. I will bring my family here and I will be a patient for a very long time! read more

Our whole family had him. He did all right work on my parents, but now that my siblings and I are going to other dentists, they've had to re-do work that he did, b/c it was never done right. I got these cavities over 2 years ago, and it was just attempt after attempt with him to get them filled right, but not a single one worked. The bite was off, or he did them so tight that I couldn't even get floss between them, or most recently, they kept getting food caught between them. And of course, he charged full price for each re-try. He doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes. Also, there were several appointments where they gave me an estimate of the cost before I went in, and then when I walked out it was anywhere from $50 to $200 more than they had told me, b/c they did extra work or something without asking me about it, or letting me know it would be an extra charge. This includes the time I went in for a cleaning, and asked him to take a look at the fillings b/c they were bothering me. He looked in my mouth for all of 30 seconds, talked to me for all of 2 minutes, and when I walked out, there was an extra $75 fee on the bill for his time. In short, mediocre work, poor ethics, and high costs. Everyone in his office is nice, and he makes good conversation, so that you feel awkward pointing out when he screws you over. Avoid. read more

I love these guys (and gals). I switched from a good dentist, but we were paying for their new building, fancy equipment and all of their children to go to college. We are in our 60's, don't carry dental insurance and don't want to pay tons of money for good dental care. Nowadays, it's all expensive, but this group doesn't make you pay for something you don't need, they don't sell you something that isn't necessary. I love this dentist. I didn't go to a dentist for a decade and I had SERIOUS plaque and other problems. Every other dentist I went to told me it would be thousands of dollars to get it taken care of even with insurance. Arbor Dental Associates has fixed everything for a price that I can easily afford! All of their estimates have been perfect and their work has been great. I had a full mouth abrasion and my gums and teeth didn't even hurt afterwards! I am so impressed with their staff. I don't know if these other reviews went to a different dentist, but Arbor Dental has been great to me and all of my coworkers. I recommend them to everyone I know. If you aren't sure about them because of the other reviews then I recommend just giving them a try for a basic cleaning and see what happens. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

These guys are the best & I have been a patient there for many years. I love that it is a more "old school" type office. There are not a lot of super fancy intimidating machines like newer offices which is great. Everyone is so friendly, hands on & very informative that it makes for a pleasant visit no matter the procedure. I can't say enough good things about them. I highly recommend them if you are in search of a wonderful dentist & staff! Also, they do all the contacting for insurance quotes. They are always very accurate in what the expected costs are going to be and do not do anything procedure wise without your permission. I say this because some of the other reviews had some complaints about this part. I can't say enough about how great these guys are & I don't even like going to dentists, but they make you feel at ease and very personable. read more

STAY AWAY INDEED! This guy totally messed up my mouth. Told me I needed a crown on a front tooth (which I now doubt I ever needed). The first crown broke in 1/2 within a week. The second crown took three different visits and a drive to south austin to get the shade right. to have it replaced, he had to cut the first crown off, damaging my tooth even more. Within a moth, the new crown fell right off. Fed up, I went to another dentist to have re-attached. Now, less than a year later, the crown has cracked again and has to be replaced. Meanwhile, they also told me I needed deep cleaning, which of course is not covered under normal insurance. After getting a new dentist, I found out this was not so. This man is a shyster. If you want to keep your teeth and your money, find another dentist. Any other dentist. read more

STAY AWAY!! I had been going to him for over 10 years and referred several people to him but in 2011 he suggested my previously bonded teeth would be much better with porcelain crowns and it would mostly be covered through insurance. I have the receipt where the projected balance was 0 after I paid about $500.00 well now because their billing person didn't pre-approve it and the insurance didn't cover it they sent it to collections for over $800.00! I am going to have to go to civil court to sue him for this. I have the zero'ed out receipt I am so annoyed that after all my loyal patronage he would do this to me. The work sucked by the way I now have a bluish tint by my gums and when I have the money and insurance again I will have to get it re-done! Sucks! read more

In fact in comparison to other businesses I have been too, who quoted me thousands of dollars in work on false pretenses, I truly feel that this guy has integrity and honesty in comparison to some other places. Well, no one wants to lose a tooth. Especially when it's my own fault (I never floss-but I'm going to start now). I was expecting a lot of pain and thought the next few days I would be eating mush. However, the procedure went very well. I was in and out of the office quickly and do not have any pain. I am also eating normal food even though its only day one without my tooth. Doug and his team always make me feel comfortable and they always to an outstanding job. No wonder the Chronicle voted him the best Dentist in Austin. I'm a customer for life. I have had extensive dental work in my life, and know a good dentist when I see one. For the past 20 years I have gone to Dr. Borgman. He is conservative with his care, if it's not broke don't mess with it, is his approach. If he recommends a treatment approach, I know that it's truly needed. I had those ones that want to sell treatment. He veneered my front teeth 20 years ago, and I had several dentist before him say they needed crowns. He told me that the bonding might only last 5-10 years, Well 20 years later they are still there and I still have a good looking smile. I highly recommend this dentist to everyone I know. read more

I used a Groupon for a dental cleaning. I was able to get in almost immediately. My teeth were cleaned thoroughly. The dental hygenist told me that I had several teeth at stage 3 moderate periodontitis. I don't want to get stage 4 so I will improve my flossing and brushing habits. Apparently, I also breathe through my mouth at times which means that I had a lot of plaque in the front of my mouth, so I need to break that habit. Everyone was very friendly including the dentist. The dental clinic itself was very clean and looked like it had been freshly renovated and updated. The dentist said that I did not need his services at this time, so I can only comment on the cleaning. read more

The dentist put in my permanent tooth after having a temporary cap and my bite is worse than it was before. The tooth is hitting my upper tooth and I can't bite down all the way and I have trouble chewing my food. Isn't that just great? I gave them an earful on the phone message. What an awful Dental place!!! I was out of town and I my tooth chipped. I found this dentist place from a co-worker. I should have definitely done my research before going to this place. It was TERRIBLE! I got two bonds done and that same day getting the bonds done, one bond chipped off so I had to go back that same day to get it fix. Not even a week and both bonds fell off. I went back to the dentist to get a refund or get it fix but they refused to see me and/or work with me. So, I technically didn't get my teeth fix and donated $246... I was very disappointed with their service and the front desk woman, Fern, was rude and had no customer service skills. I recommend not to go there. They steal your money and not fix their mistakes. I had expensive work done at his office - two crowns - and they both had to be redone within a year and a half. I didn't feel comfortable getting him to redo the work, since he messed it up the first time, and because of that he takes no responsibility for his mistakes. I might end up losing my tooth because of his bad work, and he still doesn't care. I hope he feels happy taking money from a starving graduate student, especially when he didn't really earn it. He wouldn't even talk to me personally; he had someone else in his office talk to me, and only after I called a month after I told them about this. They even tried to tell me that I had never been a patient there when I first called them about my crown problems! Oh and the lady that I talked to tried to say that it was probably "poor hygiene" that caused my crowns to not be seated properly. I am super disappointed, super broke, and super frustrated. I'm not going to say anything bad about the people there because they were very nice to me but today I was sent home in pain for a procedure that the dentist performed and now 7 days later it went from a filling to root canal. and I was sent home in pain because I didn't have the money to perform the root canal, 150$ my insurance would have paid the rest, plus I just paid to have the teeth filled a week ago. I'm not a doctor. I'm not going back, 2 year with them and shouldn't have been sent home in pain because when I came in for the filling I wasn't in pain. read more

I would avoid Dr. Borgman. So far he has done 5 crowns in my mouth, all of which were done wrong. I only needed 2 crowns but he kept doing them wrong and the current ones I have I just found out were done wrong. One of my permanent crowns fell out after a couple of months. The 2 root canals I had done on my teeth needed to be redone immediately after he did them. read more

I switched to Arbor Dental 6 years ago on a friend's recommendation. I am SO happy I did. I have never had such professional, personal and friendly service ever and I am in my 60's. It is a small office and not a factory like many of my previous dental experiences. They make me feel so comfortable and like I'm a good friend - not just a patient. I have had extensive dental work that Dr. Borgman has performed expertly without any discomfort and even filled in my front chipped tooth to where you couldn't even tell it was chipped. As a Dental Anxiety Victim I seen five different dentists looking for one who not only understood my anxiety but had the skills and chairside manner to help alleviate it. Previous dentist had recommended a root canal to alleviate pain and swelling in face but couldn't or wouldn't explain why this was needed or how it would cure the pain. Dr Borgman took the time to sit with my xrays and show me exactly what he would do and how it would help. Actually woke myself up during procedure by snoring too loudly. Have found my new home for dental care. The office staff is outstanding and Sherry is the gentlest hygienist I have ever seen. read more

I got two root canals done here. Both were done incorrectly, along with the crowns. He actually carved out my other teeth so that the messed up crown would fit with them!! Within a couple of months, the crowns fell off and I went to another dentist to discover that the root canals needed to be redone as well. I went to a specialist to redo the root canals and went back to Arbor Dental for new crowns. Then a few months later the crowns fell off again! This time I went to a different dentist to have the crowns redone. It's been years now and the crowns have not been an issue. This is how it should be, I shouldn't have to get root canals done twice and three sets of crowns in my mouth. This is a terrible place. Do not go here. read more

Well, this is my first review online EVER. I originally found this place off of groupon because I don't have insurance. It was a great deal and experience. I needed another clean and didn't remember the name but recalled the vicinity . I called a few places near by my place and finally came upon it. I made an appointment. It was about a month away, I made sure I took off work. I came in day of appt. and was rejected. Lady at the front said she rescheduled me because I didn't "confirm" . Pretty sure I confirmed my appt. when I made it. I would of called weeks before if cancellation of my appt. was a warning. My time is as important as yours. I showed up early , day of. Front desk was very rude, explaining all these calls and emails she sent me. My call voicemail log was empty with Arbor Dental, and my email which I also checked after leaving received a spam email weeks before. Wow. She explained how important "their time is" and they have to count on my business. My time is just as important , a place I would of stuck with lost it. The front desk was very harsh and defensive. I told her to have a nice day, and ment it. Thank you for wasting my time. You cost me 300$ instead of 150$ with nothing to show for. Cheers! read more
