The dentist here and his staff were great with our son. For his first visit to the dentist, he did extremely well! He got a cleaning and his initial exam done. The dental assistant lady (Amanda, I think) was very friendly, kind, and patient. She familiarized him with all the tools she'd be using and he had fun in the process. Dr. Singleton was also patient, but like most toddlers, our son got tired of people looking and digging around his mouth. Overall he made it quick and painless. I took my 3 year old here for her first dental appointment. She had no anxiety over the visit and found it very exciting and she can't wait to go back. For her first visit, I declined xrays which they were fine with. They brushed her teeth and made sure they didn't do anything she was uncomfortable with. It was mostly introduction to instruments. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Singleton and his staff. Unfortunately my daughter got some Sugar Bugs (aka cavities) that had to be taken care of by the dentist. I have to admit I had some serious anxiety about the whole procedure but after our experience today with Groovy Molar, I would recommend everyone to go to Dr. Singleton if they need a pediatric dentist. First, they use a sedation vs an anesthesia so although the child is very relaxed, they can stay away during the procedure. They allow the child to choose a scent they want to inhale such as cotton candy, bubble gum, chocolate mint, etc. My daughter loves chocolate so of course she chose anything with chocolate in it. They also have a viewing window for the parents to observe the procedure if you want to be close by. This place is so wonderful for kids and so glad Dr. Singleton is in Austin. If we ever had to move outside of Austin, I would probably commute back to Austin for my daughter's dentist visits...He is just THAT good! read more

He's got great bedside manner, is very skilled, and has a great staff. I've been very happy with them in the past, but will not be returning. Last week when I went, I had to ask (rather than being told) that one of the hygienists who was about to clean my son's teeth was not COVID vaccinated. I was not comfortable with someone who is not vaccinated putting their hands in my (unvaccinated) unmasked three year old's mouth. There's no excuse for a medical office that works with children to not require their employees be vaccinated. Glad I didn't bring him during flu season last time. read more

Dr. Singleton is a great dentist, no doubt about that. His assistant, she could use a little work, as in, be more patient with kids. While I was there, 2 children she took in for dental x-rays came out crying, including my son. When I asked him if he was alright, he replied with a simple "I don't like her. She's mean.". Unfortunately, I was not able to join my son in the x-ray room to see what exactly she was doing. The cleaning was done with a toothbrush. Last time my son had his dental check up, it was in Dallas and they went the whole nine yards, no problem. I didn't understand why he got a simple tooth-brushing and fluoride application, and it ended up costing me $127.00? I went to pay, and I ended up having to pay everything upfront. Mind you, they billed MetLife for me and I'm still waiting on my reimbursement check. So, if you go in, be ready to pay up and wait for reimbursement later. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Groovy Molar. The office looked great, billing lady was very kind, as was the dentist. Besides them, everyone else could use a little attitude adjustment. When I was a little girl I had the most awesome dentist. In fact, I still have dreams about going to my old dentist office (no, not THOSE kind of dreams), happy dreams of being a kid and getting stickers and pencils and cute toothbrushes. Anyway, I digress. I'm writing this review because our family is so thrilled with the quality of care that Dr. Singleton and his staff provides, and because I know that my own littles will grow up with sweet dreams of going to the dentist. From the second you walk in the door and see the fabulous mid century decor, to the receptionist and hygienist, everyone there seems to have been born to work with kids and put them at ease. It's clear that it comes from the top, because Dr. Singleton himself is so great with my kids and they actually look forward to going to the dentist! As an aside, my son has a fluoride sensitivity and the staff went above and beyond to give us alternatives for natural toothpastes, and didn't push the fluoride treatment at all. It's always nice when your health care providers listen to you and go above and beyond to make sure you have a positive experience! And, y'all, they have a PIRATE TREASURE CHEST that the kids can pick a little gift out of at the end of the visit. Way better than the pencil I got back in 1980. My two-year-old had a bad fall and broke five of her teeth, including a molar. The doctor in the ER had recommended this place. They got us in within an hour of me calling. The dental hygienist was really kind as well as the dentist. They were thorough and answered all of my questions. Everyone interacted so well with my kids. We will definitely go back! Dr. Brad and his team are terrific...kind, caring, understanding of the anxieties of little ones AND their parents. We come to Groovy Molar for routine dental care (cleanings) and the big stuff too. Today my five-year-old had six fillings, and the experience was handled so very well! They used conscious sedation, monitoring everything every step of the way and making sure he was comfortable and fine the whole time, and they kept me totally in the loop. The good: Groovy Molar's office was easy to locate, and my son enjoyed playing with all the toys in the waiting room. Since it was our first visit, I went back with him and was able to observe his checkup. The techs were fine; I felt the techs could have spoken more to my son and less to each other, but the care seemed standard. The dentist was also fine and advised that my son would need follow-up care. The bad: when I checked out I was informed that I would have to pay for all the treatment up front and wait for a reimbursement check from my insurance. I'm sorry, I don't consider that "taking insurance". They are an in-network provider, yes, but if all they do is file the claim for me and I'm still out several hundred dollars until insurance decides to reimburse, then I won't be using their services. The website does explain this, sort of, but I feel this should be made more clear on the website and in person when you come for your appointment. This would be an easy thing to discuss up front. I can't afford to front the money for the treatments. When I called the office today to let them know we would not return for that reason, I was told that I could have told them that yesterday and they would have worked with me...how unfortunate that they did not bother to mention that yesterday when I almost burst into tears upon being confronted with a $178 bill I could not afford to pay. read more

He actually has advised me against repairing a couple of cavities on teeth that are going to fall out soon. This Dentist office amazing! I have a 3 year-old who had a great first dentist experience thanks to this awesome team. Our nurse Ms. Amanda went above and beyond by explaining every step of what she was doing in a way a 3 year-old understand and make my son so comfortable. He loved Mr. Thirsty Straw. My son has been insanely afraid at the dentist office. Because of it, his cavities turned to needing crowns so we were referred to Groovy Molar for surgery. Now my son goes here for his cleanings, I thought he would need to be sedated for the cleanings, but he feels so comfortable that they are able to get x-rays and cleanings without sedation. He loves the staff and the office. And the cupcake flavored Flouride. I only wish I had found Dr. Singleton when my son was first going to the dentist. We found out we got billed on service that wasn't performed. When contacting the office, no one will listen to us, saying it's their words against ours. You are going to pay whatever they have done in their "notes" but not what you receive. And apparently, if you sign the new patient forms, they will not be responsible for discussing anything with you during the visit anymore. I can't believe there are dentist offices who treat patients this way. There are a lot of good pediatric dentists out there, save yourself a bad experience. read more

I just got back from our first appointment at the Groovy Molar with my 13 month old daughter and could not be more pleased with our visit this morning. I had called first thing this morning to try to get an appointment to have her tooth looked at (she chipped her front tooth yesterday) and to schedule a cleaning, not expecting to get both scheduled for the same day. Not only was I able to get both appointments today, I got an appointment for 30 mins from when I called! I was so grateful. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself: she loved the toys, the staff, and even generally tolerated the cleaning (for toddler standards!). Dr. Singleton was very caring and did an excellent job explaining everything in common language. We will definitely continue to come here for future dental appointments. I'm so thankful that her first experiences with going to the dentist will be positive ones. This will make for a great foundation for her, I am confident. read more

Great dentist for young kids. Highly reccomended, the doc and his assistant made it a fun experience. Took my 3 year old in, got x-rays and a cleaning, it couldn't have gone better. Wtih some insurance they charge you full price and fill a claim with your insurance for you, so you might need your credit card. My old insurance worked this way, changed recently and they didn't require any payment so I guess it depends on the ins company. read more

I am SO HAPPY to have come across this pediatric dentist. My son and I had such an awful experience with his previous dentist and coming here was a huge relief. My son was SO uncomfortable at his previous dentist, the assistants almost never smiled or talked and they were so lazy. Enough about them though, coming here was like a breath of fresh air. You walk in and it's definitely "Groovy". The front desk is nice, the assistants are amazing. My son had his X-Rays done (which was toooooo hard at our old dentist for some reason), he had his teeth cleaned without any fuss or multiple people having to "restrain" him, and he is just not scared anymore. His teeth did need some work, he was in pain, and this place saw me as quick as I think they could've. Scheduled his extraction and while it was painful to wait, we finally made it. Dr. Singleton is a god-send, he did an amazing job and this place is just awesome. Kids are little people, the atmosphere around them can instantly put them at ease and make them feel safe or it can make them feel anxious and like people don't care. This place definitely put my son at ease just walking in. I was AMAZED at how easy all of our visits here have been and he's NOT traumatized nor scared to come to the dentist anymore. I got 2 other opinions--2 different dentists--both said no cavities at all the teeth are just stained. So glad I listened to my gut and did not take Dr. Singleton's word. After two failed sedation attempts with other dentists, I brought my five year old daughter to Dr. Singleton. She was so anxious and fearful of dentists she wouldn't let him do much and he honored that. I knew anesthesia was the only way to get the work she needed done and he agreed. Dr. Singleton was so gentle and kind to both of us. He gave me the best advice on how to prepare her for surgery and it absolutely worked. The entire experience was positive and now my daughter has all of the work complete! Also, the waiting area is fun and kid friendly, groovy decor all around, professional staff and an awesome dentist who will take time to listen and explain. I was impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The waiting room decor was gorgeous, with enough toys and games to keep my 3 year old son occupied while we waited. The wait was not long at all though! Not even five minutes. The staff was so super friendly, I didn't think this kind of service existed in our fast paced world anymore. Took my two boys here recently for our first dentist visit in a while. We weren't sure what to expect - I hated the dentist as a kid and still approach the offices of those in the profession with a little trepidation. I am so glad my friend recommended Groovy Molar! I have a child with special needs and a typically developing child. I previously received horrible bedside care for my child with special needs. I walked out of our last dentist and immediately looked for a new one. I was so pleasantly surprised that the hygienists and dentist were all so wonderfully patient and caring. I think it took my little guy about 10 minutes to do x-rays and the hygienist was just so patient and understanding. High five! My only little complaint (and it's not a big deal) was that my son could have used more reinforcers. He was able to get 2 tokens, but could have used one at the very end. The check out lady wasn't having any of that. For my daughter it's cool. She understands that she has to pick one and that's it. My son...not so much. Not a huge deal, but it would have been perfect if she had been slightly more understanding. read more

Dr. Brad and his staff are extremely professional and very at ease with children, which in turn helps the children be at ease. After their first visit, the kids are now excited to go to Groovy Molar every six months. This past month, surgery was necessary for our son. Its interesting that everyone is so enamoured by the DECORATIONS and not so much concerned about the quality of dental care. However I am not surprised in our culture. I have nothing good to say about this place. I specifically (and emphatically) asked that my children not have a fluoride treatment and guess what? Oops, the message didn't get passed to the hygenist. When the dr arrived and asked how I was doing I told him outright, ' I am not happy', my exact words. He continued on with' Great", so I stopped him and repeated myself. Only then did he stop to listen to me and I told him what had happened. A lame apology was the only result. Obviously this man is not educated regarding the effects of constant fluoride (we have it in the tap water here for pete's sake) or could not have cared less. He went on to tell me that my 10 yr old did not need an ortho eval and that we could press a popsicle stick against the tooth to move it forward. Ok, I'm all for natural health alternatives but really? Obviously not the place for me. If you only want 'cool' decor then you will get what you deserve (although its not That cool) and there are plenty of other dentists in town that can make the experience pleasant while providing quality dental care. read more
