I contacted the agency to help with an old friend in dire need of home services. She now has a kind and compassionate caregiver that she really likes. We were involved with another agency, and it was disastrous. The aides were all very young, not very caring or kind and constantly on the phone. If you're looking for great care, forget the others and call Attentive Home Care.

Scheduling did the exact opposite of what I asked for and scheduled exact opposite of what I was sold on. Consistency in care is so important. I asked for the same person Monday & Wednesday (two weeks notice). Friday before, the scheduler said it will be a different person bc they couldn't do Monday (even w two week notice) so Wednesday & Friday and I was adamant that as long as it's the same person, I'd agree to the day change!!! Well the scheduler double booked her so she was 40 minutes late. Asked her about Friday... she said it would be a different person. This is not what I contracted for or asked for. Thursday I get a voicemail saying there will be many different faces for the next few weeks as was discussed. Ah no! That was the exact opposite of what was discussed. So much so I wanted to cancel Friday but was told I'd be charged. Friday comes and the aide comes in and does everything we told the company NOT to do. The aide did not want to sit & get to know my mom, got flustered, blamed my mom & left after 1/2 hour. Now Mom is traumatized. This was the first week!! Called sales and they were very understanding & agreed not to charge for the day the aide left after upsetting my parents. Suggestions when hiring a company: Talk to the scheduler before you sign up bc they are the ones who will make or break you.

I asked that no one sort or organize my mothers dresser drawers or closet. First, requested was honored, then owner turned against me in favor of caregivers. Owner actually came to my mother's house, opened a dresser drawer and pulled out a plastic bag. Then said, "See, there's no harm in that". She very much dislikes me and was very, very unprofessional in her tone and with her words. Made me feel like the bad guy in front of the caregiver. Relayed to me that ALL but ONE of caregivers requested a change in assignment b/c I was difficult to work with and my complaints were petty. If YOU asked that caregivers to NOT rearrange or sort a closet or dresser in YOUR mom's home (90 year old mom with Parkinson's and dimentia), would YOU like to be told that there's nothing wrong with that and caregivers just want to help? Since I made my request pretty clear, TWICE, I thought it would be honored. Let me tell you, for certain, that my request was NOT honored b/c "I was ridiculous". This owner at Pottstown will support a client complaint one day, then BOOM, she supports her caregivers. For 200k per year, I expected more cooperation and professionalism. Should have told me a long time ago that some caregivers wanted changes in assignment, because I'm "challenging". But she preferred to throw it at me when my mother returned hospital under hospice. Again, MOST caregivers = good, a few were excellent.

They accept youngsters as well as adults & some act as grandparents for the younger clients which is rewarding to both. Physical, occupational therapists are on staff. As is a nurse. They get a catered lunch every day & is restaurant quality food. Plus they have a multitudes of activities to keep them involved & active. Our 28 year old son ( has mindset of 10 year old ) went to a workshop ( slave labor ) for 6 years & the stress & mental cruelity he was forced to endure was madding & we had searched for a place like this for him & discovered the july 2015. It took the staff 6 months to assure him he wouldn't be abused there and he has finally returned to being the boy we knew. What more need i say, this place is a godsend and your loved one will be looked after just as well as you do at home and i know they will enjoy coming here. Call for an appointment & see for yourself.

When they were in the grocery store he said he was hungry so she offered to buy him soup. That was't enough - he ask her to buy him a hoagie! Really, who does that? She bought them because she wasn't sure what would happen if she didn't. Would he have left her at the store? The most recent 'angel' took her to the grocery store also. When they returned home a couple things fell out of the bag and were overlooked. Honest mistake. When mom called to get this resolved they said the products would be dropped off next day. Never happened. Next phone call they said the drivers car was stolen. What does that have to do with it? I called and spoke to the very rude owner, he was annoyed that I called to complain and told me it wasn't worth his time for a once monthly visit and she should never call again. This is a service for older people and they are not concerned about the type of service they provide? Customers are the ones paying for the service so their voice matters. I do not recommend this agency.

VISITING ANGELS IS DANGEROUS TO THE LIVING. Where to start?…read moreMaybe the fact the live in caregivers have no idea what they are doing. Plainly written instructions. Dad's meds are on one side of the kitchen in 28 dated, labeled bottles (two for each day we were gone.) The dogs meds are in a daily dispenser (M-F) container next to the fridge. Quote, Caregiver, "I almost gave the dog your dad's meds. I don't know which is which." Other plainly written instructions, feed the dogs once daily. "The dogs are pooping in the house." Me: Are you feeding them once daily? "No, twice." Here is this real kicker: We come home, all windows open, AC running, dryer sheets scattered on the floor. Obviously there has a burning on the stove top which blackened the wall unit microwave above and killed it. Small melted spot, digital display frozen, unit inoperable. Blackened pan in dishwasher. When asking the manager/owner about it, he looked into it and returned telling me neither of the care givers knows what happened. Both claimed to never have used the microwave. Considering a large portion of the microwaveable vegetables I stocked up on for Dad are gone, this is a lie. So, we are out a microwave. Owner made reparations in the amount of $600 for our trouble. I could have sued him out of business. I'm glad my Dad and dogs are still alive but under no circumstances do I recommend using this outfit to care for anything you own. Parents, pets, even plants. There was dog crap hardened on the floor when we returned and there was no effort to clean up. Negative stars for this crap non-caring outfit.
