Arbor care group provided a prompt written bid. I obtained the second bid from a different tree company to use as a comparison since I had no idea what to expect as far as pricing goes. I chose the Arborcare group and we scheduled the work. A crew of four showed up at about 8:15 AM. They took a couple of short breaks and a half an hour for lunch then completed the work at about 3:30 PM. The job involved removing one Redwood tree and trimming a Pistacio, Maple, Sycamore and crabapple trees The crew seemed to work well together and the final cleanup was excellent. Then six months later during our rainy winter I had an emergency with a huge deodar cedar that was leaning in the intense wind and saturated ground within a few feet of my house and the next atmospheric river was about to happen in two days! Arborcare has a history of no-shows, seven, as you will find if you read previous reviews, and eight, including this review. Several weeks ago, I found a flyer from Arborcare posted on my front door. I called to request an estimate to trim my backyard tree. Later that day, the company's owner, Mario Del Villar, dropped by to give me an estimate, which seemed reasonable. I scheduled an appointment to do the work on August 22nd. On August 22nd, I waited around all day, and no one showed up. Several days later, I discovered an Arborcare crew working in my neighborhood. I asked one of the workers if he would be able to trim my tree later that day. He said that I would have to speak to the owner, and he told me that his crew didn't have another job scheduled for that afternoon. I called Mario, and he told me his crew did have another job scheduled and that someone would call me on Monday to schedule my job. No one called. It's difficult to understand why this company provides estimates for tree trimming and then fails to honor their contracts. My experience with Arbocare has been very disappointing. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews prior to booking this company for a tree trim. This company's marketing team does a really great job of advertising the business, (local coupons, magazines, signs off the freeway). Unfortunately for me, I didn't do the research prior to hiring them. I am giving them two stars because Victor gave me the most affordable quote and was very personable. I am taking three stars away because they didn't show up TWICE and didn't give us a call afterwards to reschedule or let us know they were going to cancel- VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. After the third scheduled appointment, they finally came out but left all the branches at the front of my home. Again, they did not communicate with us that they were going to leave all the branches in the front or when they were going to come back to clean it up. I spoke with Victor the next morning and he said his guys would be there in the morning to get it cleaned up. When I came home from work in the afternoon, the branches were still there. This time I called the number on Yelp and he told me his guys were running behind but that they would be there later in the afternoon. Working with this company was an absolute headache, I would recommend you pay a little extra money for better service. We had been looking for a good tree service company for years. We had about 16 large eucalyptus trees and 1 even larger popler tree that was near a road. Each time we got a quote the quote was too high or not exactly what we needed. We were very impressed when we connected with this company. Their quote was very reasonable. Each time we communicated with them they were very responsive. Their customer service throughout was great. The tree work was completed in only a few days. Like I mentioned, it was about 17 large trees. We had fencing near by and animals also close by and the tree guys were very conscientious to keep fences and animals safe. The workers were polite and brought down the trees quickly. They even stopped to ask us how much wood chips we wanted to keep. I hired Arborcare to remove a large tree, grind stump and cut firewood into 14" firewood. I was very adamant that I didnt want the wood left in big rounds, and the stump needed to be removed. When the job was completed, I was left with a giant stump and ALL the WOOD left like this. I was told by the supervisor on the last day they were here, that " the job was underbid" and that the stump was too large to grind and when they mean cut wood into Firewood the rounds is what they meant. Just had a bunch of brush clearing and tree trimming done in Guerneville, CA - very pleased overall, probably 4.5 due to a few things (below) but going 5-star because ultimately the work is exactly what I wanted and the crew was fantastic. Good stuff: They listened to what I wanted done, and made it happen. One example is that I had one small tree I didn't want touched literally in the middle of a bunch of brush/bushes that I wanted removed. No problem. Also the clearing of branches away from the house was perfect - no more or less cut than I wanted. The price - after some negotiation - was fair for the work and in-line with other estimates. The crew that did the work were great: Took the time up-front to review the work with me, and all crew members were friendly and professional. Head's up: Scheduling. Received estimate on Thursday and agreed for the work to happen the following Monday at noon (cool!). 8AM Monday I get text asking if can do next day instead. I propose Friday at noon (which was actually better for me), and crew arrived about 10AM on Friday...which also worked out fine but wasn't the game plan. Don't want to dwell on this as I've repeatedly experienced inconsistent scheduling/arrival times with a wide variety of various Sonoma County contractors - and ultimately "no blood no foul" - but something to be aware of. If worried about this, I'd suggest giving them a call the day before the service appointment to confirm. Wrap-up: Nice folks, did an excellent job completing the exact work I hoped for. I received a flyer from ArborCare, offering their services and called and spoke with Mario. He was very professional and offered me a reasonable quote to trim 7 tree, a tall grass and a shrub. We set the date and time and his guys showed up, assessed the job and began on time. A few hours later, a supervisor arrived, just to be sure they understood what I wanted with each tree. The job was completed in a reasonable amount of time and was cleaned up quite nicely. I was contacted by a representative of ArborCare Group through Yelp. I set up an appointment to have Mario, the owner, come out and give me an estimate for trimming 1 tree. The appointment was missed and the office manager said he would be there in approximately 30 minutes. I was finally 11/2 hours before arrival. He gave me a good estimate and I called back to agree on using their services. The appointment was made for Feb. 9th. They did not show that day and made excuses for the miss. We agreed for Feb 10th first thing in the morning. Again a no show and no call to let me know. I had tried to call them throughout the day to no avail. When I finally reached them towards the end of the day there were more excuses and a reassurance that I would be first on their list for Saturday morning, Feb. 11th. I received an email that I found that morning stating 1 person was sick so no one was going to work that day. The next available day would be Tuesday because Monday is a Holiday. The lack of customer consideration, the poor company ethics and all the lies that had been told along with a terrible owner who should not own anything that would have to serve the public led me to Firing this company. Well here's another 'no show' review. They were scheduled to come Monday and called to cancel and reschedule. Okay so I rescheduled for Friday. They didn't show. I called to find out what's going on and they accused ME of cancelling the job entirely. They said they were "confused" because I was the one who cancelled the job. Then they said they would call me back when I told them I did no such thing. Guess what? They never called back. My take on ANY contractor (I worked with contractors for two decades) is that the highest biddings get priority. If you have a small job and a coupon don't rely on this company. Don't believe me?
