Steve called me back within the hour, came out in 2 days for an estimate and completed the job shortly after. He and his crew did a great job. Did a heavy trim on my Bradford pear and oak tree. Cleaned up every scrap of debris and were careful of my lawn and landscaping. Has all the right equipment for the job. His price was very good. I submitted his website form quote, didn't receive any response for 4 days, and then when I don't reply to his email within 13 hours (all 15 words of it) - I start getting unstable messages. Do not so much as fill out his website form. Without further emails from myself, this morning I received a message letting me know that I am a piece of sh*t and a scumbag. Small but mighty. Steve and his crew are the best. They are talented and take down large trees that are in tight spaces. He is affordable, personable with a cool Italian flare. He is gifted obviously in his field. They clean up and fill in pot holes as well. Thank you Steve. great job. read more

Facebook memories from 2016 reminds me of this guy and how mentally unstable he is. Here's what I wrote then: The guy calls 20 minutes before the appointment to cancel saying he has a cleaning service coming out at 10 and they gave him a window of time between 10-2 and he needs to be there. Mind you, our appointment is at 9 and an estimate takes minutes. But fine, I say....and I ask him about after 2. He has stuff going on and "other estimates" to do. I politely say "well sorry, I work weekends but thanks for letting me know." Then he asks is there a time anyone else may be home. I tell him "actually yeah my mother will be here tomorrow between 10 and 4." He comes up with some other excuse. Finally I once again try to politely extricate myself from his services when he starts ranting. About how he's not going to cancel something he makes money on to go do an estimate in the rain(!), how everybody is window shopping, how "you think you want one tree down and you're not even sure" and just getting more worked up as he keeps talking. I interrupt several times to tell him "well that's the cost of doing business" and he talks over me, aggressively. Finally I raise my voice and say, "Sir! I'm sorry but you're the one who cancelled on me, I gave you several times that didn't work for you and now you're blaming me and lecturing me about it. I'm pretty sure before you fork over 8 or 900 dollars on something you get estimates for yourself too, right?" and I hung up on him. He immediately called back and left a nasty voicemail where he calls me honey and says he wipes his ass with $900....but then goes on to say how tough his business is with people who aren't serious stringing him along. Then he ends with "I'm glad I didn't come out and do an estimate for you, I knew you weren't serious." This guy is ticking time bomb. For the sake of whatever family he may have, I truly hope he gets the anger management help he needs. read more

Arborscaper responded quickly, quoted reasonably, and showed up on time with the right crew and equipment (cherry picker) to remove a fairly large maple that was in my oak tree and up to the power lines. I asked them to also shape the remaining oak and another nearby ornamental tree. They did quick work and cleaned everything up perfectly. What's even more important: many months later the trimming/ shaping they did is PERFECT. Highly recommended ! read more

The owner, Steve Smith, is rude and unprofessional. I requested a quote for the cutting back of a rather large yew and his response in an email was that we lived too far for him to come trim "one stupid hedge!!!!" (in all caps). We live in the greater Rochester area and have never been told this before, but that's beyond the point. All he had to say was we're out of his range. He also threatened to sue me if I said anything negative about him online. Unbelievable. read more

If you are interested in hiring Steven Smith from Arborscaper Tree Service, allow me to explain my dealings with him and his company. I contacted this company (along with 8 other companies) to receive quotes on services to have a tree removed. Arborscaper's quote came in higher than all of the other businesses I contacted. When Mr. Smith emailed me on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 to follow up, I politely stated that I went with a different business due to the fact that they were charging much less for the service I needed. Mr. Smith then replied and was very hostile, by swearing and being very unprofessional. I did a screen shot and saved the email for records and in case anyone asked about the business, so that they can to see the rude, unprofessional, way I was treated for going with a different cheaper company. A negative review was left with the Better Business Bureau, and other online review websites, with above statement, and screenshot from the unprofessional email that he sent me so that all statements were proven to be 100% true and not slander. A couple of weeks later (Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 8:13 A.M.), I received a voicemail from Mr. Smith upset at the negative reviews online, and threatening me. He stated that I should keep in mind that he knows where I live and not to hold it past him that he would do something bad. That night, (Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 7:15 P.M.), I filed a police report with the Rochester Police Department over his voicemail and threat. They heard the voicemail, read the email he sent me and the incident report was put on file over the company and Mr. Smith. I have also installed outdoor cameras on my home, motion detecting lights, and all my neighbors know of the company and Mr. Smith. I am NOT telling buyers what to do, or what decision they should make when dealing with this company. I am strictly stating what happened in my dealings with this business, and how they responded. The email, and voicemail are stored for reference, the police have copies of them (again to prove all statements as 100% true and non-slanderous), and I am only trying to protect myself and family. Due to the police report being filed, and order of protection that will be going through, the officer who took the report instructed me that if Mr Smith or anyone from his company is near me or my family on my property, or contacts me again with more threats, then to contact 911 immediately for an arrest to occur. Had I known I was going to be treated this way and threatened, I would have never contacted his company for a quote. Because of this, there is now a police report filed, cameras installed on my property, neighborhood watch in effect, and personal protection implemented. Other home owners may have better dealings with this company, and be happy customers but my situation with them was not a good one. read more

They cleaned up so well as if the trees didn't exist in my yard. They're certified to properly process infected Ash trees, and have very reasonable prices. read more

This is my second experience with this gentleman, and I guess when they say fool me twice, shame on me. I contracted him to remove a large walnut tree out of my back yard and grind the stump. It was the winter time, and he gave a great price. I decided to use him again, thinking how bad could it be. He removed the tree in a timely fashion and ground the stump down. In the contract, he stated he would remove the stump "approx 7" below grade level." Since he was leaving the wood chips behind, I couldn't see that the stump was all the way gone. Come spring time, I moved all of the wood chips and found that 3/4 of the stump was at ground level or higher. When I reached out to him to let him know, he kept repeating that he gave me a good price and that there is a lot of cost to have him come back out. Being very understanding, I offered him the rest of the summer to get it done and to come at his leisure or when he could make it considering this is a busy time for tree removal. He started to get loud and confrontational and it was clear that he was not going to honor the contract that he insisted was filled out and signed. My warning is for anyone out there looking for tree removal from this guy. Please look somewhere else. The cheap cost is representative of his work. Save yourself the aggravation and contact another tree service. You will thank me later. read more
