I actually enjoy going in and learning one or two words or names of things. I read some of the other reviews that gave this place bad reviews. But a few were for dumb reasons. I'm American I understand. But things like they speak Russian in a place that sells a lot of Russian goods and the customer service was lacking because there wasn't much of a greeting even at checkout. All I have to say is go travel. Even in Britain there's a lack of customer service like we have here. It's a cultural difference. You're going to a store that sells goods from another country and a lot of those people who immigrated here from there, I'm sure enjoy the fact that they speak their native tongues there. Stop being such snobs. But it is in East Cobb so there is that.

As a first generation Cuban-American born and raised in Miami and married to a Cuban man, I am happy to report that Cuban Diner is the real deal. This is authentic Cuban food that is as good as the Cuban food easily found all over Miami. We started with croquetas and mariquitas. I ordered the bistec empanizado, hubby ordered the vaca frita, my son ordered the ropa vieja, my MIL orders the palomilla, and my FIL ordered a papa rellena and tamal along with a natural guava juice. We all shared bites of our plates with each other and everyone agreed that everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the vaca frita, so I stole a good bit from hubby and I also loved my FIL's guava juice. Service was good, but we got there shortly after opening so we had the place to ourselves. We noticed as it got busier, service definitely slowed considerably, but there was only one server for the whole place and one more handling to go orders. The one server did a fantastic job despite being the only one for multiple tables, but I did notice one couple left in frustration when they were not attended in a timely manner. I loved that they offer a total of 3 sides with the entrees, so you don't have to compromise on sides. I really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more things on their menu soon. I definitely recommend Cuban Diner, but urge you to pack your patience if you go when there is a crowd. The good news is that the food will be well worth the wait!

My parents always get the "Fruity Fran" chicken salad and the grape salad as their side. Lately, I love their Bacon Cheddar Melt on a Croissant. I also really like their BLT. I'm a bacon fan. I almost always get the "Classic Carol" chicken salad on my sandwich - that's my fav. Which Wich sandwiches are a little more expensive but I also think they're a bit better than most places. Having eaten them for most of my adult life, this location maintains the brand's quality. Of note, on my last visit the chair was broken. Apparently the manager knew that and... didn't pull the chair? That's disconcerting. Make sure you check before you sit. I left a Google review and the "manager" gave me an email address and asked for the details of my experience. I sent a summary assuming they read the Google review, they asked for the store location in a message with no introduction, no apology, and not signed off. I haven't heard another word and not seen a refund. If they cancel your order and promise a refund, check your accounts because I can't imagine this is a first.

Now we can see and choose what we can put into our sandwiches again. Probably the coolest new addition to the menu is bibimbap (Korean mixed rice). I never would've imagined this popular Korean dish would make its way into our cafeteria, but it has! It was served on a Tuesday when I last saw it. It smells very good. Most of the other daily specials remain the same like taco salad Thursdays (one of my favorites). I just tried out sirloin steak Friday and it was okay. The sirloin steaks look a little weird, though. The meat is coated with some sort of fried breading (to enhance the flavor I'm sure), which easily peels off. While I was eating the steak, the breading was falling right off. Other miscellaneous food notes: They use very little soy sauce in their fried rice so the rice stays looking white. They sometimes buy cookies and snacks from H-Mart and resell them here at the cash register. Yummy. I think they could use an upgrade to higher quality disposable plastic silverware and napkins. Even my company has higher quality plastic silverware in our break room! With Waste Management moving some offices into our building, business has picked up for Parkway Cafe, which is a good thing.
