As she waved her hands and smacked her gums, I stood in front of her with my hands folded, attempting to explain to her the value of proper communication. I explained to her that her body language and attitude clearly told that she hated her job.. She became so defensive that it was a waste of breathe speaking to someone with lack of intelligence. I admittedly left and cursed at her as ignorance gets on my nerves. I had to come to terms that it is Christmas and some people are just naturally bitter. I hope that the store owner provides customer service training to the staff. The way she reacted could have caused additional issues and a good ole dragging. So I did a bit of research, and here is what I found: NC is moving toward tighter regulations A 2025 bill (House Bill 13) proposes: * A 2% cap on surcharges * Mandatory disclosure at the entrance and point of sale * A ban on surcharges if the business only accepts credit cards It hasn't fully passed yet, but it has momentum. If it becomes law, it will standardize what restaurants can charge and how they must disclose it. Check whether the fee applies to all cards If the restaurant charges the same fee for: * debit cards NOTE: Happy Egg, my server told me, charges 4% to use a Debit Card * credit cards * even prepaid cards ...that's a red flag. Why: Debit card processing is much cheaper. Charging the same fee across the board suggests the fee isn't tied to actual processing costs -- it's just extra revenue layered on top of already‑priced‑in costs.
