Arcade Monsters!! There are over 200 games & many can only be found in Japan. I had so much fun playing my vintage favorite games like street fighter and halo and I got to play some new to me games as well. $25 for all you can play arcade games! Super fun and interactive place. It can be very loud in here so just be prepared for a lot of audio & visual stimulation! There's also a few basketball and skeeball games that were super fun and addictive as well. So if you love arcade games, this is definitely a great spot for you to enjoy in downtown SD. They have food and drinks as well. We didn't try the food, but the mojito was tasty & I also had a white claw. Parking is a little tough in this area. Using a ride service or taking the trolley might be a good idea. Peace.
I came to visit San Diego and I came across this Arcade Games in Gaslamp! This was so much a fun! Highly recommend this if you love playing arcade games. Go on a date or challenge someone. Customer service was amazing ! My sister had lots of sun here for her birthday, definitely will be back next time we come down here to San Diego !!!
This is a fun place. It's not cheap but it's a lot of fun and there are enough games here to keep you occupied for three or four hours, easily. There are two levels and plenty to explore on each level. There are nooks and crannies here and there with games you might miss if you don't turn this or that corner. At this time, it's $25 per person (before taxes) and you get unlimited games. There are plenty of video games and pinball machines, too. There is air hockey and skee-ball and many other types of games. Most of them were in working condition but a few were not. The games should obviously be in working condition before the place opens but hey, quality control isn't always what it should be. They offer snacky foods and booze, of course, but I didn't try anything. The decor is very cool. It is kind of psychedelic and fun. This is right by the ballpark and parking is tough to find. We parked a few blocks away on the street (metered parking). There really are very few places in San Diego to play video games and pinball so it's nice to have a place like this available. We spent about 3 plus hours here and the time just flew by. If we didn't have other plans, we would have stayed longer. Unfortunately, there are no in-and-out privileges, so keep that in mind.
Awesome concept in gaslamp right near petco park! This place has soo many games with a really cool retro set-up-- several different rooms, layouts, and a variety of old-school games. There's several games I've never seen before, always something different. $25 to get in and free play is a great idea. Their drinks were good and they have some classic American bar style food that is good too. Totally will return!
I am a huge fan of arcades, but something that I hate is spending money or credits every time that you want to play a game, that's why Monsters became a huge favorite of mine! You pay a flat rate of $25 and can play as long as you desire! The place is so vibey! They have huge murals and black lights which makes the place super fun!!! They have a huge lineup of games you can play, from the classics to a huge selection of modern games I've never even heard of! I wish they had more of the classic American ones like Dave and busters but this is just me being picky. All of the machines work pretty well, and they're not jammed or broken like most of the arcades in San Diego lol. They also have some food and drinks, I did not get to try them this time but I am very excited to go back and try everything!
My partner and I came here on a Sunday evening from 5:45PM-9:00PM. It is $25 for unlimited play, which is an amazing deal. We loved all the cartoon and video game artwork that covers all types of fandoms and interests, the bright neon colors, the different rooms you can explore with old school games, the variety of games, and so on. The layout of the place is a bit confusing and overwhelming. I wish all the different rooms had actual themes and signage, but a majority of the games are randomly placed throughout the building (some rooms were somewhat themed, but mostly not). We were feeling snack-ish, so we ordered the "chicken nuggies". When you enter, there's a bar you see immediately after you walk up the stairs. You can order here, or you can order with the host at the entrance (pretty confusing). They seemed understaffed yesterday so the bar did not have anyone for awhile, so we had to go to the entrance to order. After you order, they give you a buzzer to pick up your food. The location to pick up food is rather confusing. It's at the back of the arcade near the claw machines (nowhere near the bar). We asked the bartender and she was pretty short / rude in telling us where to go. So onto the "chicken nuggies".... It was supposed to be 10 pieces with 5 dipping sauces for $10. I was so disappointed by what we actually received. We received 10 extremely TINY pieces of half-burnt chicken with only 3 sauces. BE SO FOR REAL?? I should've complained, but I didn't have the energy for it. The service is basically nonexistent here. There is nobody walking around to help and the bartender was unfriendly and barely at the bar. I will say that the games are super fun and I love that there really isn't any "dying" as you just press "continue playing" even if you die lol. I wish there were more "horror games" as I only found one. I also wish there were actual prizes or incentives for these games, but it is truly all about enjoying yourself and the company you're with. Also keep in mind that it is warm in here! No jacket needed. read more

Gamers Heaven! Great for dates! Great for birthday parties! For parties you can rent (2hrs) for $25 each hour. January 11th 2025. 4pm - 7pm. Same day as the Petco Park Rodeo. Located 5min walk from Petco Park. There are paid parking lots a block away. Single $25 unlimited game play or Multiple entry $35 unlimited play. Pay at the bar for Food & Drinks. Your drinks are served immediately. You can open up a tab. Food orders they give you a buzzer and you pick up your food across the bar. Food is mediocre, but good snacking for all the gaming. Ube Slush with Lychee boba 10/10 Giant pretzel 8/10 (serve with 2 cheeses, not just 1 cheese. It's a giant pretzel!) Fries 6/10 Cook longer Wings 6/10 Cook longer Potato Rings 6/10 Cook longer Hot dog 5/10 Basic There are many rooms, neon lights, lots of murals, TWO FLOORS, and games everywhere. Can look chaotic, but just walk around and you'll find so much entertainment. This place is great for all ages! PROS: Endless entertainment. DJ at 10pm. Unique! His set up was in an odd spot. CONS: More trash cans. Someone walking around for cleanliness and maintenance. More staff! read more

This place is amazing!! For $25 you get unlimited free play. This arcade has a lot of fun and unique games you don't typically see at other arcades. It is overstimulating with bright colors and loud noises. There's so much to explore. The first floor has more 'traditional' arcade games like pinball, racing, basketball hoops, shooting games. The second floor is filled with lots of fun Japanese games, rhythm games, and retro games too. You could seriously spend hours in here! They serve basic food which I didn't try, and have boozy slushies. It did get kind of crowded towards 7-8pm. Great for a group, would love to come back in the future! Maybe next time I'll come prepared with noise-canceling earbuds and gamer gloves to be more sanitary haha. read more
Fantastic concept & they do have ALL the games! For $25 it's all you can play for hours on end across 2 large levels filled with games of all types and from all eras. Alcohol and snacks food like pizzas and giant pretzels keep you from straying outside. My favorite game was Sega's Where's Waldo--super nostalgic and lots of fun to enjoy 2 Player. Air hockey is always a nice break from staring at a screen, and if you are fluent in Japanese then you will be delighted by the amount of Japanese-only games (and if you're not, then you'll get a good laugh/challenge as you try to figure things out). Perhaps best of all is the fact that if you're not a hardcore gamer, for once you don't have to worry about bringing your teammate(s) down bc if/when you die right away, you can always just hit "Continue" and you're right back in the action like nothing happened. The blacklight art throughout provides an intriguing vibe, and overall the fact that you can try hundreds of games for one reasonable price and never worry about machines eating your coins or not properly dispensing tickets is well worth the entry fee. read more

Walking by the arcade today on the way back to my hotel I noticed a short girl dressed in orange. She beckoned me into what I can describe as a pixie dust arcade fever dream. The games were plentiful and fun. Katana sold me on having a drink and enjoying some Japanese arcade classics like Future TomTom. Would recommend. read more
Spent Saturday night meeting up with friends at Arcade Monsters in downtown San Diego. I was surprised one of them brought their infant, honestly, it's not the best place for babies because it's super loud, so if you do bring one, definitely bring headphones and be extra careful. Aside from that, the place is amazing and I've missed it! There's a second floor, tons of arcade games, food, and drinks. It really brings back that nostalgic feeling of playing video games again. Parking in downtown can be tough, but everything else was great. read more
This is one of the coolest arcades I have ever been to. It is so much bigger on the inside than it looks from outside as it is multiple stories and is packed with arcade machines. There is everything from pinball, ski ball or Japanese import games. Truly something for everyone and a great aesthetic. read more

So fun! Lots of games from classic arcade games pinball, packman, Mario, Tetris, to carnival games like ski ball. Modern games like Mario Kart, guitar hero, lots of rhythm games, and an entire section of Atari, M64, game cube games. So much to do!!!! Pricey $27 to get in, but once you're in dedicate the time to do everything. $35 if you want to be here all day/ be able to go in and out. Clean bathrooms, hand sanitizers everywhere, cup holders around too. Food and alcohol is reasonable. Fun neon glow in the dark atmosphere. A little bit warm in some rooms but that can be expected! We also didn't realize there's a live DJ mixing the music on the first floor! Something for everyone, will definitely be back and recommending this place to anyone who visits! read more

Arcade Monsters in San Diego is such a fun hidden gem! It's located right by the Padres stadium and just a short walk from the Seaport Pier, which makes it super convenient if you're exploring downtown. The place has a great balance of food, alcohol, and refreshing slushees--perfect for just hanging out with friends or unwinding after a game. All the new arcade games and the classic ones were all functional and looked great. The whole place was clean, well maintained, and really fun to play around. Best thing is, they stay open late, so you can keep the party going well into the night. Highly recommend it if you happen to be in the area! read more

This is a gaming kid's dream!!!!! You get to play EVERYTHING for as long as you want for a single price! It's AMAZING!!!! It's fun and filled with black lights and glowing art all over the walls. The staff is super nice and helpful too. But, the games are what really makes this place hit! All my favorite Japanese games are here! Taiko! DDR! Initial D! And some new ones I've never played before today and my husband and I LOVED them! (I kicked his butt on most of them. He definitely had me on the racing games and shooting ones though) It's perfect for all ages and I definitely recommend coming here. You will not regret it! read more

Girl at the front could have a better attitude but I didnt let her abad attitude ruin my day. Card only $20 no reentry $35 with reentry . I loved Arcade Monsters! It was nice and quiet on a Tuesday weekday, perfect for winning nonstop without a crowd stealing my spotlight. The lady at the front desk was such a sweetheart, probably the nicest human I've met there. (Not like there were any others considering they were short staffed during today.) Heads up: a lot of the games were dubbed in a different language, but honestly I still understood enough to not embarrass myself. The food was a bit pricey, I dropped $7 on a tiny box of fries. but hey, I'm not complaining. The $27 entry fee felt pretty fair for all the fun I had (and the workout from trying to beat those machines). Am definitely gonna go back... to become number 1 once more! read more

The art inside is super fun and cool -- everywhere you look there's something colorful and creative that makes the whole place feel exciting. They have so many games, especially tons of older, classic ones that bring back all the nostalgia. I loved being able to bounce from game to game without worrying about tokens because it's unlimited play for only $25, which is honestly such a good deal. The whole vibe is fun, laid-back, and perfect whether you're going with friends or on a cute little date. I'll definitely be going back! read more
Met a group of friends here on a Friday night. It was early enough that no real line to get in. The line for the ONE bar was long and had only one bartender do the line moved painfully slow. Food doesn't look good and drinks are mediocre. So don't waste your time. Wish they had a water station somewhere. The games were everywhere. Room upon room upstairs (which gets hot) (also wonder how much the power bill is haha) The only game I didn't find was Ms Pac-Man not sure if they have. Some really random games. Lots of fun. No real lines for games. Every inch of the walls covered. You can look for days. Definitely overstimulating after awhile. We all had a great time. read more

We were out celebrating our wedding anniversary and discovered this amazing place close to Pet Co Park within the Gaslamp District! The outside of the building is a quiet distraction, then you enter and emerge into a fantasy of what I would of dreamt about as a kid! The colorful art inside the building creates the best vibe while you explore all this place has to offer! The self-parking lot about 1 block away is convenient and many spots were available. We arrived around 4:30p on Wednesday and stayed until my eyes hurt; 4 hours later!!! It was impossible to get bored, as they have everything here you would want in a premium arcade! The pinball games are awesome, some limited edition plus all the Atari 80s games ie Centipede, Galaxa, Bubble Bobble, Donkey Kong, Frogger, some versions of Pac-Man and so much more! I'm a bit of a germ-a-phobe and so I do appreciate they had hand sanitizer bottles available. My only complaint is getting slightly sweaty while playing upstairs. They had the windows open in that room which made is more tolerable. Also, they do have ceiling fans in most rooms, so overall, it's not too hot, but can only imagine with more people inside, the heat may vary. The slushy Strawberry Margarita was a great addition to the experience - you can add 1 or 2 shots of Tequila! The girls working at the front were so adorable with their flashy attire; matching the ambiance. They collect $25 per person ($35 if you want to leave then return back later) - fair value for the overall experience! read more

Overall super fun place, the bright and decor on the walls is fun but can definitely overwhelming as it carries into both stories and is on every single wall. The games were fun, all the machines worked and we went during "free play" so the $25 cover was a good price for unlimited games/ play. A large percent of the games and instructions are in Japanese but it's easy to over get the point of the game, and with unlimited free play, you can just try again and again. read more

This place is super fun! My son wanted to go here with the whole family (who came from near and far) to celebrate his 21st bday. He wasn't too interested in going out drinking so it was an awesome place for the whole family to enjoy! For one set price of $25, you get to spend as much time as you want and play as many games as you please. It is $35/person if you would like to be able to leave and come back. The games overall were in wonderful condition. There were some games that did break down but I noticed that they had a service guy going around and fixing things throughout the time we were there. It felt a little warm and stuffy in some of the areas but luckily there are open windows and AC pumping upstairs. The bright lights and noise could get a bit much after some time, but it's an arcade, so that's to be expected. There were some games we had never seen or played before so those were super fun to try!! Lots of Asian arcade games, which are not in English, but still super fun! The food...skip it! My son and daughter ordered hot dogs, I ordered a pretzel & chicken wings, and some fries. My daughter got a "cooked" hotdog and unfortunately my son got one straight out of the package. He took a bite (not looking ) right into a cold hot dog. We understand they are pre-cooked but that was just gross. Poor birthday boy. :( The fries were extremely undercooked, the pretzel looked yummy but was not and the chicken wings were also undercooked...ughhh. Sad to waste all that money on crummy food but we were hungry. So if you come here, don't come hungry!! The drinks (especially the ube one) were good though! This place did not disappoint when it came to having fun and playing games. Definitely worth the $25 fee to get in and spend a few hours getting lost in an arcade! read more

Are they dog friendly?
No. It is all indoors and very tight quarters. It is also very loud which could hurt a dog's sensitive ears.
How's the line on Thursday nights?
Fridays and Saturdays are obviously the worst. On weeknights though, I’ve at times been able to park directly in front of the door and just walk in. Thursdays will most likely be a middle ground between the two.
Where can you park? Is it hard to find parking?
Limited street parking, pay parking lots, parking structures, and hotel valet service are around downtown San Diego's Gaslamp District and East Village areas.
